- Chapter 3 - The Married Beta is Truly Wonderful
Even now, looking at the slight reveal of Situ Jing’s canine teeth, the stinging pain still present on Bai Yu’s back neck, the alpha’s rut was frantic and violent, and he was very afraid.
“Why did you choose me? I’m a beta.”
“Because your body scent can alleviate my pheromone abnormality syndrome.”
Bai Yu sniffed his own wrist. “What body scent?”
“Can’t you smell it yourself? A fig scent.”
Situ Jing’s words reminded Bai Yu of his mother mentioning that when he was little, he had a scent. It was natural, a mix of green plant astringency and light sweet milky fragrance, similar to the scent of figs.
However, Bai Yu himself couldn’t smell it.
So, this was why Situ Jing sought him out.
Secretary Zhou placed the contract in front of Bai Yu. It stated an allowance of eighty thousand per month, covering all of Bai Li’s medical expenses and associated costs for finding a bone marrow match, until Situ Jing’s illness disappeared, at which point the contract would end.
Bai Li’s medical expenses were a huge amount. Even if a match was found, the later costs could reach nearly three million.
Bai Yu gasped, Situ Jing just gave this much?
Thinking about the accident that day, it seemed like a blessing in disguise. Situ Jing’s identity was unusual, perhaps he could help his sister find a matching bone marrow sooner.
But what extent of help did Situ Jing mean by assisting him through the rut?
Bai Yu quietly asked, “I have one more thing to ask.”
“Ask away.”
“So, do I need to let you bite my back neck during your rut, or collect my bodily fluids for you?”
Situ Jing stared at Bai Yu’s neck, his Adam’s apple bobbing. “More than that.”
Bai Yu unconsciously tightened his legs. Did it mean there would be substantive actions, that kind of comforting relationship?
He had no such experience, neither with an alpha nor a beta.
However, for Bai Li’s treatment, Bai Yu had no other choice. Anyway, a beta couldn’t be marked, so there was no loss.
Bai Yu picked up the pen and signed the contract. He planned to watch some films when he got back. On one hand, he was afraid the alpha’s stamina would be too much and he would get hurt; on the other, he wanted to gain some knowledge and not displease his benefactor.
Secretary Zhou put the contract into a document bag.
Situ Jing clasped his hands together, his thin lips slightly parted. “I will fulfill my commitment, but I have one requirement.”
“Yes, tell me.”
The evening sun outside the window shone on Bai Yu’s fair face, revealing tiny white fuzz. His slender figure sat straight, like a well-behaved cat.
“We are just taking what we need from each other, and we must not cross boundaries. Do not use my name to show off, and do not casually reveal our relationship.”
“I understand.”
Bai Yu’s tea-brown eyes were crystal clear and round. Especially when wet with tears, they could easily arouse a man’s desire for dominance, to invade and destroy him.
Situ Jing couldn’t help but feel his Adam’s apple bob and his body heat up, immediately adjusting his bracelet to the highest setting.
Until the pheromone abnormality syndrome disappeared, Situ Jing needed to maintain this relationship with Bai Yu.
Judging from the conversation just now, Bai Yu was indeed an easily manageable, very ordinary young beta. As long as he didn’t overstep, everything would be fine.
Situ Jing returned the small pendant to Bai Yu. “It fell off that night.”
“Thank you.”
Bai Yu took the small pendant, noticing that the end had been violently torn off. An alpha’s strength was truly great.
Soon, the Beef Wellington arrived.
Bai Yu cut the golden-brown pastry with a knife and fork, exposing the beef wrapped inside. He ate with relish, his cheeks puffed up, but Situ Jing sitting opposite him kept staring, making him a little uncomfortable.
“Aren’t you eating?”
Situ Jing leaned against the chair back. “I’ve already eaten.”
Secretary Zhou stood quietly by, and since he had nothing to do, he also watched Bai Yu eat.
Bai Yu’s hair was yellowish and fluffy, a bit scruffy. His looks were probably good in college; maybe he was approached often when singing at the bar, but it was a shame he was a beta. But a beta was good too; an omega might not be able to handle the boss.
After a while, Bai Yu’s plate only had the garnish tomatoes left, and his lemon water was also gone.
Situ Jing stood up. “Time is running out, let’s go.”
It had only been one day since his rut passed, and his pheromones were at their most volatile stage. The inhibitor bracelet could only suppress it for a while, so he couldn’t stay here long.
Bai Yu was stunned. “Are we… leaving with you now?”
“Do you have anything else?”
“No… it’s just…” He hadn’t prepared anything, hadn’t even watched the films. Why jump straight to practice? This was too fast.
“I want to go back for a trip, to bring some things!”
A vein pulsed on Situ Jing’s forehead. Bai Yu clearly didn’t understand the discomfort of the rut. “Tell Secretary Zhou what you need to buy. You’re coming with me.”
Bai Yu was shoved into the car. As the door closed, he couldn’t help but ask the man next to him, “How long will your rut last?”
“It varies. This time might be longer.”
Every time Bai Yu moved closer, that scent would burrow into Situ Jing’s lungs. The inhibitor bracelet was about to fail.
Arriving at the presidential suite of the hotel, Situ Jing threw the inhibitor bracelet on the floor and pressed down on Bai Yu’s shoulders.
Bai Yu trembled with fear. He grew up in a small county town, and even if there were alphas around, they were only inferior or average alphas, with weak pheromone aggression.
Bai Yu couldn’t smell Situ Jing’s pheromones, but he could still feel the pressure brought by the pheromones. The room must be saturated with the alpha’s pheromones now.
Situ Jing rubbed the trembling lips and sniffed the fig scent on Bai Yu’s body.
The scent of Situ Jing’s pheromones had disappeared from Bai Yu’s back neck, vanishing so quickly as if it had never been there.
Situ Jing leaned in and bit down on Bai Yu’s back neck, injecting liquid pheromones into the already atrophied gland.
The man’s movements were not gentle. Bai Yu’s back neck hurt, and he couldn’t help but clutch his arm. “It hurts.”
The room door began to violently pound, the person inside hitting it with great force.
Under the suit jacket was a strong, well-defined body, containing the power and pressure of a wild beast. The buttons of the shirt burst open one by one, and his hot skin pressed against Bai Yu’s.
Bai Yu grabbed Situ Jing’s hair and said with a trembling voice, “It hurts.”
“Did it hurt this much when you were with your ex-husband?”
Bai Yu’s face flushed slightly, and he didn’t answer.
He had promised the other party not to mention his affairs after the divorce, nor to reveal the real reason for the marriage. Large companies were very concerned about the background of their executives, and it was easy to be investigated.
Seeing that Bai Yu didn’t answer, Situ Jing didn’t press the issue, wrapping his arm around Bai Yu’s knees and carrying him onto the bed.
It was hot, truly hot. Even though it was March, why did it feel like the peak of summer?
The white hoodie, jeans, suit jacket, and leather shoes were piled up under the bed, but it was still overwhelmingly hot.
The tide of pain and fever was intertwined, dizzying and intoxicating, leaving no room for anything else.
In the cold midnight of March, the man cried out, letting out a beast-like roar, completely releasing the long-suppressed aggression.
The light in the room remained on. Bai Yu cried, his round, cat-like eyes teary, his nose red, covering his face with his hands.
Situ Jing grabbed Bai Yu’s wrist, looked directly into his wet eyes, and couldn’t help but mark his back neck again, covering him completely with his pheromones.
Outside, the wind howled, and the spring rain began to drizzle.
Bai Yu’s phone rang twice, and Situ Jing’s phone rang many times, but there was no time to attend to them.
The air was filled with a thick, ambiguous atmosphere. The scent of cold cedar pheromones was so concentrated it felt like being plunged into a forest. Eight full discarded items piled up in the trash can beneath the bed.
Bai Yu buried himself in the quilt, congested, dizzy. His back neck was very red and swollen, and he vaguely felt that the atrophied gland couldn’t handle so much; the liquid cold cedar dripped down his neck.
At five in the morning, Bai Yu’s alarm clock went off.
The alarm “beep-beep-beeped,” and Situ Jing frowned slightly.
Bai Yu struggled to reach out, turned off the alarm on his phone, and also turned off the light. In the darkness, the man pressed down on him.
“Why are you…”
“Why what?”
Bai Yu shook his head. Perhaps an alpha in rut needed to be held and comforted more. He reached out and wrapped his arms around Situ Jing’s sturdy waist.
Four hours later, Bai Yu woke up again. The sound of rushing water came from the bathroom.
His left leg cramped, and he curled up on the bed in pain, letting out a low whimper.
The sound of water in the bathroom stopped.
Situ Jing stepped out of the bathroom, drops of water falling from his wet hair. Water droplets on his chest muscles traced down his torso, finally disappearing into the towel around his waist.
“What’s wrong?”
A muffled voice came from under the quilt. “My leg is cramping.”
Situ Jing walked to the bedside, lifted the quilt, grabbed Bai Yu’s leg, and tried to massage it.
Bai Yu flinched. He wasn’t wearing any clothes, and being suddenly grabbed by Situ Jing made the cold air rush into the quilt.
Situ Jing grabbed his ankle again. Bai Yu’s calf was thinner than his arm, and his pink toes curled up unnaturally.
Bai Yu’s face was flushed with embarrassment. He bit his lip on the pillow, enduring the pain shamefully.
Situ Jing’s damp, warm fingers pressed against his leg. “Don’t move. I’m worried whether your body can hold out until I get through the rut.”
“I’ll be fine if I just rest a bit.” Bai Yu looked timidly at Situ Jing.
Situ Jing put down Bai Yu’s feet, picked him up, and carried him into the bathroom.
Bai Yu trembled slightly. Since he wasn’t wearing clothes, Bai Yu’s back was pressed against Situ Jing’s chest. “What are you going to do?”
“Soaking in warm water will relieve the cramp.”
“Okay, thank you.”
Bai Yu had never imagined having an interaction with such an alpha. In his previous imagination, if possible, he would find a compatible beta to spend his life with.
However, this situation wouldn’t last. Once Situ Jing was over his rut, he could leave.
Situ Jing only asked him to stay through his rut, which is usually once every two months for an alpha. Even if his rut was more unstable, they couldn’t possibly meet every day.
Bai Yu applied shower gel to himself, and upon closer inspection, he saw ambiguous marks all over his body.
Situ Jing scrutinized a flying bird tattoo on Bai Yu’s back.
He didn’t dwell on the meaning of the tattoo, probably just like those teenagers in adolescence who wanted to be different.
An S-class alpha’s endurance and explosive power were extraordinary. Situ Jing still hadn’t reached a state of complete satisfaction, but considering Bai Yu’s body, he needed to rest for a while.
“You’re too skinny.”
“I actually eat a lot, but maybe it all gets digested and not absorbed.”
Bai Yu was not used to having someone else present while he showered and kept waiting for Situ Jing to leave, but he didn’t seem to have any intention of leaving. “I can manage by myself.”
Just then, Jiang Ming called, and Situ Jing stood up and left the bathroom.
“How is it? Are you okay?”
“No need for inhibitors.”
Jiang Ming spun his swivel chair in his office. “Looks like you found the right person. So, no insomnia or headaches?”
“That’s the current situation.”
Situ Jing’s last few ruts had been more intense. Jiang Ming found it hard to imagine what a normally elegant and reserved male alpha would be like when truly becoming savage.
That beta should be okay, at least he didn’t ask for treatment.
“In that case, let’s observe for now. Contact me if there are any abnormalities.”
Situ Jing opened his lighter and lit a cigarette. “Prescribe some restorative tonics for me.”
“Understood. Where should I send them?”
“The hotel. I’ll send you the address.”
