After Turning Into a Kitten, I Was Adopted by My Father-Figure Childhood Friend - Chapter 5
Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow. I’ll Bite You to Death.
I’ll bite you to death! I’ll bite you!
The round, juvenile kitten widened its beautiful amber-gold pupils. With its cheeks puffing slightly, it bit down hard on Lu Jingchuan’s hand.
Just before the sharp fangs could pierce the skin, a large hand precisely clamped the kitten’s cheeks, forcing its mouth to stay wide open, unable to move.
After being bitten, the man’s expression shifted slightly, revealing a dangerous, inscrutable glint.
Under his gaze, the aggressive Song Xingyou belatedly sensed danger. His pointed ears instinctively folded down into “airplane ears,” and the tip of his tail coaxingly brushed into the man’s palm.
“Meow-uuu…”
The kitten cried out in a milky voice. Realizing its mistake, it tucked its two paws under its chin, making its round, cute face look even more ignorant and innocent.
Meow meow! I’m just a little kitty. Surely no one would hold a grudge against a little kitty? Surely not, right?
The “Evil Little Calico” feigned weakness on the outside while secretly plotting on the inside, its tail-tip swaying triumphantly behind it.
The man’s gaze was deep. His cold eyes stared at the kitten with a look of sternness and displeasure. He wasn’t fooled by the kitten’s temporary submission; instead, he maintained control with a very hardened attitude.
“Are you going to bite again?”
I’ll bite you to death!
The impatient Song Xingyou almost couldn’t keep up the act and wanted to curse him out. However, he inexplicably felt a surge of cowardice. He reluctantly tucked his tail, and as a gesture of appeasement, let go and extended a pink, tender tongue to lick the indentation he had bitten.
Only then did the man slowly release his hand, stroking the kitten’s head fur with satisfaction.
“Good boy.”
Ah…
The low, magnetic voice made Song the Cat who was very sensitive to sound feel a tingle at the base of his tail. It was like the strings of a cello vibrating by his ear.
The man’s chest rose and fell. His voice, unheard for four years, had shed the crispness of youth, becoming even more unfamiliar and mellow, inviting one’s imagination.
“You can bite, but you can’t use force, understand?”
Lu Jingchuan patiently instructed the kitten. The kitten curled its tail, dazed, hugging the tip of its tail with its paws as it quietly settled down.
He lowered his head, his cat eyes moist, staring blankly at the man.
Lu Jingchuan noticed a sense of familiarity once again, and he couldn’t help but feel a hint of melancholy.
Of course, he knew that Xing-xing didn’t like looking at his phone while traveling.
But not replying to messages for three days and nine hours was a bit…
Would he not even reply to his favorite cat photos?
Lu Jingchuan thought gloomily; perhaps the muscular hunk Xing-xing had “liked” the day before yesterday was the new favorite.
Song Xingyou had no memory of liking any muscular hunks. He was dazed by Lu Jingchuan’s “carrot and stick” approach. When he was placed in the car, separated from the man’s warm body temperature, he even gave an unexpected shiver.
He hurriedly flipped his body over in the shadow cast by the man. He huddled in the passenger seat, a tiny thing looking like a fuzzy triangular rice ball, firmly bisected by a long, black seatbelt.
Lu Jingchuan leaned over to buckle the kitten’s seatbelt and reached out to rub Song Xingyou’s little head.
Song Xingyou was rubbed into a daze. He felt a wave of comfort surge from the top of his head down to his tailbone. His limbs went soft, his ears drooped, and a “purr-purr” sound vibrated uncontrollably in his throat.
Until the man withdrew his hand.
Song Xingyou felt as if struck by lightning. In a moment of disbelief, his ears stood upright and his tail swayed uneasily from side to side.
I do not! Like! Being petted! It’s definitely a conspiracy! A huge conspiracy!
Song Xingyou frantically denied that the creature acting cute just now was himself. The moment the car door opened, he immediately sprang up to run down, but before he could clear the door, a pair of hands captured him at high speed.
“Meow meow!”
Song Xingyou was shocked. His fierce “Cat-Punche” was restricted by the scruffing of his neck. His limbs dangled, and his tail swayed uneasily as he was petted from head to tail by a veterinarian in a white coat.
The vet’s movements were very professional, gentle yet purposeful. He pushed the cat’s legs aside to take a look.
“Oh, it’s a boy.”
“Meow meow meow!” You pervert!
Song Xingyou’s fur stood on end instantly. He waved his claws angrily, wanting to give the vet a piece of his mind.
However, as soon as the vet loosened his grip, he instantly forgot his grudge. He flew onto Lu Jingchuan’s shoulder, his tail wrapping uneasily around the man’s neck as the entire cat huddled in the man’s shoulder nook, trembling.
“He’s a bit timid,” the doctor smiled good-naturedly, leading Lu Jingchuan inside.
Lu Jingchuan had booked the kitten for a physical exam, deworming, and a vaccination.
Normally, a few days of isolation would be required, but Lu Jingchuan had no other animals at home, and the doctor didn’t find any visible diseases like ringworm on the kitten.
Several nurses tried to coax the kitten out of its owner’s arms. During this process, Song Xingyou shrieked, his claws digging firmly into Lu Jingchuan’s sweater, his little head shaking frantically.
“Meow-uuu-meow!” Lu Xiao Chuan, save me! Save me!
Lu Jingchuan frowned slightly. Seeing that the kitten was frightened, he proactively brushed the others’ hands away.
The kitten, still shaken, immediately scrambled to grab onto his neck, huddling into a cowardly ball as its tail curled uneasily around the man’s arm.
The man told the others to step back and rubbed the back of the kitten’s neck.
Perhaps because he had turned into a cat, Song Xingyou felt himself becoming more sensitive, timid, and emotional. Tucking himself into the man’s arms and pressing against his heart made him feel a bit more secure.
Of course, this wasn’t because he relied on that bastard Lu Jingchuan.
It was only because Lu Jingchuan was, barely, a reliable acquaintance.
That was all.
“Meow!” The moment Song Xingyou noticed a hand behind him, a sharp sting appeared and vanished instantly. A few drops of cool medicine were applied to his neck, which the man then rubbed.
This series of actions took less than a minute. Using the owner’s comforting as a distraction, the doctor swiftly gave the kitten a vaccination and basic external deworming, while also tossing two internal deworming pills into the kitten’s wide-open mouth.
Song Xingyou had never seen such bandit-like behavior. Seething with rage, he opened his mouth to spit them out, but in the next second, the man opened a can of food and smeared the sticky meat paste over his mouth.
Who even wants to eat canned cat food!
Song Xingyou scratched at the man’s sweater, quickly fraying the high-quality black wool. He shook his head frantically but couldn’t resist the man’s movements, instinctively sticking out his tongue to lick his mouth.
As he licked, the medicine was swallowed down before he knew it.
Dammit! Such cursed methods!
Song Xingyou grumbled as he was placed into a pet cubicle, a newly opened can of salmon placed beside him.
Lu Jingchuan crouched in front of the cubicle. Seeing him full of energy and grumbling, he tapped the air in the direction of the cat’s little head.
“I’ll come get you after I finish talking with the doctor.”
Hmph, who wants you to get me!
Song Xingyou turned his round little butt toward him and raised his chin arrogantly. Instead of annoying people, this only made them want to reach out and touch his fluffy fur or offer him cat treats to make him happy.
Once the sound behind him stopped, his tail flicked tentatively. Song Xingyou’s eyes sparkled, and his ears twitched left and right as he investigated. Seizing the moment while no one was watching, he buried his head in the can and ate fiercely.
The resistance and disgust from before were nowhere to be seen.
You tell me (munch munch), this cat food (munch munch), who invented it? (munch munch)
Song Xingyou ate happily, making “mm-mm” sounds as he was completely dazed by the taste of the canned food.
The large pet activity room was decorated like a children’s play area, with colorful pet cubicles stacked together. Cats and dogs looked at each other from a distance under the bright white lights, making the place look extremely clean and beautiful.
Lu Jingchuan and the doctor were on the opposite side of the activity room, separated by two layers of frosted glass. The doctor sat at his computer, talking away.
“Based on the age, he should be about three or four months old. Neuter him after he reaches adulthood…”
Lu Jingchuan listened intently, his cold and indifferent face showing absolute, sincere concentration. “No rush. That’s a decision You-you has to make for himself.”
Song Xingyou didn’t know that two bastards were discussing his “crown jewels.” After finishing half a can of cat food, his stomach felt full, and he began to feel disdain for the cold food.
The picky Song the Cat licked his mouth. Even in this situation, his sitting posture remained elegant, sitting like a fluffy calico rice ball, his pointed ears twitching as he washed his face gracefully.
He rubbed his cheeks, let out a few unhappy murmurs in his throat, all of them insults directed at Lu Jingchuan.
That bastard Lu Xiao Chuan actually helped the doctor give me a shot. When I get back, I’ll give his water cup a slap! Unless he opens the piano for me to play.
Song the Cat was grumbling when a voice suddenly rang out by his ear: “Ehh, holy moly! A newcomer?”
This sudden voice startled Song Xingyou. He jumped, his ears instinctively moving back. He subconsciously lifted his head, his cat eyes darting fiercely around the area.
“Stop lookin’ all over! Look over here! How can ya be so clumsy!”
That deep voice rang out again, mixed with a soft, short meow.
Song Xingyou looked left and right, staring in disbelief at the adjacent cubicle. He tilted his head, and through the gaps in the cage door, he saw a snowy-white figure.
A Lion Cat with snowy fur trailing to the ground stood there majestically.
The Lion Cat was beautiful and clearly loved cleanliness; its white fur had been meticulously groomed, looking like a snowy marshmallow. Its blue eyes were clear and innocent, and its meow was soft and sweet.
But when translated into Song Xingyou’s ears, it was like a rolling thunder. The thick, rough Northeast Chinese accent (Dongbei) left him absolutely stunned.
“Were ya also tied up and dragged here by these folks? The cat was, too! Let me tell ya, my family used to be the boss of that area! I’d practice my moves with the old men at the nursing home and kick at the kittens at the kindergarten gates. It was glorious! But these people have no honor they just tied the cat up and insisted on findin’ the cat a home. What a load of bull!”
The Lion Cat rambled on, and Song Xingyou couldn’t snap out of it for a long time.
This cat! Is actually a Dongbei Cat!
Song Xingyou took a tactical step back. His head was filled with meowing sounds—all of them the sweet, cute “meow-meow” sounds of the stray cats he used to rescue.
Before, Song Xingyou only thought they were very cute. Now, he suddenly felt he couldn’t look them in the eye.
Are they all actually grumbling, burly “big brother” cats?!
My illusions are shattered…
“Don’t just stand there dazed!” The Dongbei Lion Cat wore a surly expression, acting all high and mighty. “Hurry up and see where we can bolt. This group of black-hearted folks catches cats just to snip their balls. It’s ridiculous…”
Song Xingyou stammered: “I wasn’t tied up and brought here.”
“Then you’re a pet?”
The Lion Cat narrowed its eyes, baring sharp fangs beneath its curled lips.
It raised its fluffy, feather-duster-like tail and stood up from its sitting position. Beneath its fur were lean, powerful muscles. It walked a circle around the edge, curling its mouth unhappily. “Is that guy outside your owner?”
