After Turning Into a Kitten, I Was Adopted by My Father-Figure Childhood Friend - Chapter 12
Meow. Annoying Lu Xiao Chuan!
Annoying Lu Xiao Chuan!
Hate you, hate you, hate you!
Song Xingyou meowed loudly, his juvenile voice stretching to its limit, much like his body as he desperately hooked his claws into the quilt.
Kicking his hind legs and shaking his head in a full-blown refusal, he was stuffed into the man’s jacket anyway.
His flexible, powerful hind legs delivered a fierce kick to the man’s chest. Instead of causing damage, the rock-hard muscles made his own legs go numb. He instinctively shivered, tucked them under his belly in a fit of resentment, and bit down hard on the man’s pectoral muscle, refusing to let go.
Lu Jingchuan flicked his little ear. Pushed away by a pink paw, the kitten grumbled and lashed his tail. Using both front paws to knead the man’s rising and falling chest, he shifted spots and took another bite.
With a bite mark on both the left and right sides of his chest, Lu Jingchuan remained expressionless.
He supported the warm, soft round butt in his palm and calmly analyzed why this was happening. Finally, he determined that he had brought this trouble upon himself.
He had woken up a kitten that was sleeping soundly; a kitten with a very big temper.
Lu Jingchuan thought seriously for a moment. His large hand stroked the kitten’s head. The stiff, pointed ears swept stubbornly across his palm, causing a slight itch before stickily pressing back into his hand.
He pinched the kitten’s ear with an indisputable sense of order, yet also with a hint of respect for his “partner.”
“You-you, exercise is good for the body.” If you play enough outside, you won’t tear up the house inside.
He didn’t say the last part out loud; otherwise, it would have certainly triggered a massive explosion from Song the Cat.
Song Xingyou wore a “grumpy cat” face as he was reluctantly fitted with a cat harness. The black leash was wound several times around the man’s palm, its long lead inescapably linked to the ring on the back of his vest.
Lu Jingchuan urged him forward. Just like in middle school, he gave him an unquestionable, gentle nudge.
Song the Cat meowed twice in displeasure and promptly flopped onto the ground. Lying with four paws in the air, he hugged the man’s calf and rubbed his head against it softly over and over.
“Meow!” Ah, the cat has been pushed down by you and can’t walk anymore.
The kitten lay on the ground acting like a rascal, his four paws clutching the man’s leg, wrinkling the neat cargo pants.
At six o’clock on an April morning, the dim curtain of night hadn’t fully receded. The clouds on the horizon left the park gloomy and shadowless, with only the streetlights on both sides illuminating a patch of the world.
The man stood by the road. Today he wore a gray jacket over a tight cashmere sweater; the vaguely visible muscle lines looked even more distinct and handsome against the black fabric.
He lowered his head, half his face submerged in shadow, and met the eyes of the kitten at his feet. His cold profile tightened, and even the curve of his lips pressed straight.
“You-you,” Lu Jingchuan warned.
Song the Cat grumbled and scratched his ear with a paw. He then skillfully acted cute for the man, holding his two paws in front of him and waving them adorably.
Lu Jingchuan faced off with the kitten for three seconds before winding the leash tighter around his palm.
His movements were methodical. His handsome, large hand wound the black cord, which couldn’t hide his pulsing veins and long bone structure, creating a dangerous tension in the contrast of black and white.
As it tightened loop by loop, Song the Cat inexplicably felt a sense of urgency. A crisis of being controlled crept through his fur like a shadow. He let out a sudden sneeze, but his attempt to cover his mouth was restricted mid-air by the tightening leash.
He tilted his head back in disbelief, his ears perking up uneasily. The tail between his legs had long since puffed out into a feather duster.
“You-you.” Lu Jingchuan tapped his watch. Between the taps of his fingertips, he slightly narrowed his eyes, his expression mixed with an undefinable danger.
No one would defy his wishes at a time like this, whether based on his aura or something else.
Including a kitten with a natural instinct for danger.
Damn Lu Jingchuan! Annoying Lu Jingchuan!
Song Xingyou cursed and grumbled in his mind, but his body stood up quite honestly. He walked with his head down, swearing as he went. With his tail tucked and his ears folded, he looked from behind like a well-behaved triangular rice ball.
The well-behaved rice ball continued to swear internally, vowing to get revenge on this bastard Lu!
Dammit, I was supervised by him to run and exercise every day in the third year of junior high. How am I still being supervised by him as a senior in college?
Damn self-discipline freak! Damn Dog Lu!
Song Xingyou cursed unhappily. As he cursed, his ears suddenly perked up in alert. He glanced around and twitched his nose in confusion.
Why does it feel.?
His steps faltered slightly. He was given a gentle tap on his furry butt from behind. “You-you, no slacking off.”
“Meow!” Song the Cat exploded instantly. Forgetting whatever felt strange, he whipped his head around to hiss at the man.
Baring four sharp teeth fiercely, he lashed his tail and unhappily thudded it against the ground.
By the fourth thud, Lu Jingchuan was finally moved by the accusation in those beautiful, familiar amber eyes to find his conscience.
He looked down at his step count. Little You-you hadn’t even walked two hundred meters.
Resigning himself, he picked the kitten up. The kitten instantly stepped on him like a lord, moving from arm to shoulder. He flopped down there, turning into a fluffy cat-scarf, attempting to overheat this “dog thing” who wouldn’t sleep in the morning and insisted on exercising.
Song Xingyou simply hated this dog thing, Lu Jingchuan, too much.
Too far from human, too close to a god, the guy was practically a freak.
Thinking of this, Song Xingyou couldn’t resist giving him a kick to the face.
Rat-bastard! How is my treatment as a cat even worse than when I was a person!
Back then, when Dog Lu woke up at six to exercise, memorize English, and devour literature, he never forgot to bring him breakfast. He’d even carry a half-awake Song to school on his bicycle. There was absolutely no need for Song to wake up at six to exercise!
Damn it, damn it, damn it!
Song Xingyou felt indignant on his own behalf, hugging the man’s head and delivering several fierce thumps.
Lu Jingchuan took the light “cat-punches” calmly. He bought the first steamer of meat buns from a nearby breakfast stall. He broke a bun open, using a plastic bag to separate the meat from the dough.
He offered the meat filling to the kitten’s mouth. The oily minced meat was mixed with shiitake mushrooms, shimmering with dark savory juice.
Song the Cat sniffed and swallowed his saliva greedily.
The kitten’s whiskers perked up, and his cheeks puffed with every breath. He softly rubbed against the man’s finger, hugging his arm with four paws and eating with great relish.
Lu Jingchuan stuffed the plain dough into his own mouth and left the stall with his hands in his pockets.
Still wanting more, Song Xingyou licked his mouth and couldn’t help but curl his lip.
Lu Jingchuan had been back from his four years abroad, yet it seemed like he had evolved away his sense of taste and appetite.
Yesterday, he spent the whole day eating whole wheat bread with peanut butter. This morning, he only ate a bit of bun dough. To Song the Cat, it looked like eating behavior based purely on maintaining vital signs.
But that had nothing to do with Song Xingyou. He didn’t care about this annoying guy!
Song Xingyou lifted his neck, perking up his ears with great pride and shaking them smugly.
Finally, he’s stopped wearing that long face.
Lu Jingchuan rubbed the kitten’s head. He didn’t chase him back to the ground. Instead, as the crowd grew thicker, he opened his jacket and allowed the little calico to slip into his embrace, leaving only two cute pointed ears poking out.
Song the Cat looked left and right, his paws resting strangely under his chin, wearing a look of deep thought.
Were there always this many cats in this park?
Seeing another cat pass them by, Song the Cat propped up his upper body and clawed at the man’s arm, peeking out curiously.
“Meow meow meow?” Hello, meow?
The black-and-white cow cat paused its steps. Its tail tip swayed like a metronome as it stared at the little calico in the human’s arms, a thoughtful look in its eyes.
“Meow~” Hello, little cat.
Song Xingyou couldn’t help but follow the tip of its tail with his eyes. He even started humming along: “Hello?”
“Meow meow meow!”
A fine greeting makes my head spin! I mean, the more you eat, the more food they give; the less you eat, the less food they give. So, the more you eat, the more cat food; the less you eat, the less cat food… Hey! Little cat, do you know what the sunset looks like? It’s like a running salmon can. They live in the water and ride bicycles, vroom vroom vroom.
The cow cat stood on its tiptoes, walking forward while tilting its head and meowing. Its increasingly rapid speech was filled with content that made the kitten’s head spin.
The cow cat said: “Do you want to come inside my belly and swim with the salmon?”
Song Xingyou stared blankly at that overly-familiar, neurotic little cow cat. Its four sharp teeth were spread wide, revealing a terrifying, twisted blood-hole in its throat like a serpent’s gullet.
He was instantly struck with horror, as if seeing a ghost. He frantically covered the tips of his ears, tucked his tail in fright, and wiggled his round butt as he retreated into the man’s clothes. “Meow-uuu-meow!”
Lu Xiao Chuan, save me! Save me!
The kitten’s panicked juvenile voice trailed off in a long, hurried cry, rushing into the human’s ear. Lu Jingchuan immediately covered the hiding kitten. Facing the cow cat, his tone remained calm and deep: “You-you won’t be making friends with you, Mr. Cat.”
Having rejected the cow cat’s friendship request with formal language, Lu Jingchuan swiftly and officially led the kitten away.
This damn sense of ceremony! Just hurry up and get me out of here!
Song Xingyou grumbled cowardly, giving Lu Xiao Chuan two hard kicks.
The “nest-bully” Song the Cat, having been terrified by a kitten speaking a weird dialect, hugged his tail tightly. Only when he got home did he feel the clouds clear. Full of energy, he dashed up to the second floor in a flash, instantly disappearing into the model-home-like house.
He scurried to the second-floor balcony, basking in the early sun that wasn’t yet warm. The pale, stark light fell on him. He couldn’t help but shiver from the cold and shake his fur. His tail rested on the floor, trembling slightly.
Heavens!
Song the Cat looked dazed, with only one thought in his head: That cat wanted to eat him!
Just like a mother cat with no food might bite its children to death, that cow cat actually wanted to eat him!
No one knew why Song Xingyou had started rescuing cats.
In the year when the conflict with his family was at its peak, he had run away on a rainy night and witnessed a stray cat biting its own kitten to death.
That stray was thinner than a few-months-old pet cat, huddling skin-and-bones in the greenery, watching with him as the kitten stopped breathing.
Maybe there wasn’t enough food, or maybe it couldn’t be raised.
Strays were very pitiful. And very scary.
That cow cat’s fur was very clean and beautiful. It had four white paws and a white patch at its collar that formed a pretty bow tie.
Could it also be a little stray?
“Meow.”
As Song Xingyou was thinking, someone politely tapped on the glass before him. A black cat he had never seen before stepped forward. Like a ghost, it bowed politely to him, its deep voice sounding like heavy rolling beads.
“Sir.” “Does today’s sunset look like the color of a tuna can to you?”
