After Transmigrating into a Scumbag Alpha, I Had a Happy Ending with the Heroine - Chapter 39
Jiang Qing drove her car out of the residential complex.
It was late at night, and the streets were almost deserted. There were hardly any pedestrians or vehicles around. Without any hesitation, she pressed down harder on the gas pedal.
The stars and the moon hanging low in the night sky quickly disappeared behind her. The wind rushed past her ears, bringing a cool breeze that gradually eased her burning thoughts.
After the heat of her impulse faded, only the aching longing remained.
It was already so late. She wondered if Song Qin Ning had fallen asleep.
When she arrived near her destination, Jiang Qing parked in the spot recommended by the navigation system and got out of the car.
She had left in a hurry. As she walked, she suddenly realized how rushed and messy she looked. She pulled her baseball cap lower, trying to hide her face.
The residential area where Song Qin Ning lived was easy to find.
It was a high-end community developed for the wealthy. The residents were either rich or powerful. Most were government officials, celebrities, or business tycoons. To protect them from media harassment or paparazzi, the property management had built the area with strong privacy features.
There was a complete surveillance system and alarm devices throughout the community, along with a 24-hour rotating security patrol system.
Li Huifei was the security guard assigned to patrol the east gate that night.
He was new to the job. Although he had not encountered any real emergencies, he had studied a great deal of theory under the guidance of retired veterans. He had memorized techniques on how to quickly subdue suspicious individuals.
Carrying this valuable knowledge with pride, Li Huifei stood tall and alert, carefully watching his surroundings.
As the wind rustled through the leaves of the parasol trees, he sharply caught the faint sound of footsteps mixed in with the wind.
Someone was there.
He turned his head quickly and saw a suspicious-looking woman approaching, bundled up tightly.
She walked to the gate but did not go inside. She did not ask for help either. Instead, she paced back and forth, trying to stay unnoticed. In Li Huifei’s eyes, her actions showed clear signs of anxiety and guilt.
He immediately matched her behavior to what he had memorized in a training manual titled “If Security Guards Are Not Charming, Residents Will Not Trust Them.” According to that guide, there was a 66 percent chance she was a secret lover trying to sneak in and a 34 percent chance she was a paparazzo waiting to take photos.
However, visitors for personal meetings were usually announced by the residents ahead of time. That made it more likely she was a paparazzo.
With that judgment, Li Huifei walked over and spoke firmly.
“Ma’am, what are you doing here?”
Jiang Qing had been standing near the entrance, unsure whether Song Qin Ning was awake. She had not yet decided whether to go in, so she stayed outside, hesitating.
When she heard Li Huifei’s question, she answered without hesitation.
“I’m here to see a friend.”
Li Huifei looked her up and down, then said in a rough voice, “To enter this community, you need to be registered in advance. If you really have an appointment, why haven’t we received a call?”
Jiang Qing was momentarily speechless. She guessed the guard had mistaken her for a sneaky reporter. She took off her mask and cap and said, “Maybe you could search me online.”
Before she could finish her sentence, she heard a loud exclamation beside her.
“Holy—”
Li Huifei quickly covered his mouth and blinked several times. When he realized the woman had not vanished into thin air, he finally believed what he was seeing was real.
His mind felt dazed, like it was floating. Only one thought remained.
“Could you give me an autograph?”
Jiang Qing calmly put her mask back on and nodded.
“Of course.”
“Please wait here.”
Li Huifei rushed back to the security booth. He was so excited that he tripped over a loose brick on the ground and almost fell face-first.
He grabbed his phone and a pen, then hurried back. Still excited, he forgot about the same brick and this time fell forward completely, heading straight toward Jiang Qing.
Just before they collided, a hand reached out from beside Jiang Qing. It held Li Huifei back and gently pulled Jiang Qing into its embrace.
In the warm air of midsummer, Jiang Qing suddenly found herself in a clean, refreshing embrace. It was familiar and comforting.
She turned around and saw the gentle face of Song Qin Ning. The soft glow of the stars above reflected in her eyes.
“Qin Ning, what are you doing here?”
Song Qin Ning looked up slightly, her gaze calm and focused.
“I came out for a walk.”
With her electronic devices taken away and nothing to do at home, she had grown bored. Over the past few days, she had developed a habit of going out for late-night walks to clear her mind.
Usually, Song Qin Ning would walk three or four laps around the perimeter of the residential complex. But tonight, after just one lap, she unexpectedly saw the person she had been thinking about day and night standing at the entrance.
It was as if Jiang Qing had been waiting just for her.
That sweet thought hit Song Qin Ning so hard she had to silently warn herself to calm down. Not even a TV drama would dare write something this cheesy. Only then did she manage to settle the rush of joy that came from suddenly seeing someone she liked.
She paused for a moment, glancing between Li Huifei and Jiang Qing. Trying to sound casual, she asked, “What happened between you two just now?”
When Jiang Qing heard her question, she noticed the slightly jealous tone in Song Qin Ning’s voice—something even Song herself didn’t realize. At that moment, the weight in Jiang Qing’s heart finally lifted.
Song Qin Ning was jealous. That meant she still cared.
She wasn’t too late after all.
Feeling delighted, Jiang Qing explained the accident that had just happened.
“You came to see me?” Song Qin Ning asked.
“Yes. I missed you,” Jiang Qing replied.
Now that she had decided to be with Song Qin Ning, saying such things no longer made her feel nervous or embarrassed.
“I missed you too.” Song Qin Ning had no idea her thoughts had already been seen through completely. She still tried to hide her feelings.
Afraid of being too obvious, she quickly added, “It’s normal to miss a friend if you haven’t seen each other for a while.”
Jiang Qing, who had already accepted her own feelings, found Song Qin Ning’s clumsy attempt to cover up her emotions incredibly cute.
“Then why haven’t you contacted me these past few days?”
Meanwhile, completely forgotten in the corner was Li Huifei.
He was holding the autograph Jiang Qing had just given him, his heart still pounding with excitement. He even dug out an old autograph from Song Qin Ning too. Watching the two women walk off together, he began typing furiously on the gossip forum Pink Talk:
“Shocking! My favorite CP is real!”
