- Chapter 20 - Stay Away from Violence
“Huo Qingzhuo, someone is looking for you.”
Huo Qingzhuo was sitting in the classroom memorizing a text when she heard the student sitting by the door, responsible for passing messages, call out her name.
Many people in the classroom looked over curiously, and after recognizing the person at the door, they began to chatter and discuss.
“Isn’t that Liu Yangyang? Why is she looking for Huo Qingzhuo?”
“I don’t know, but everyone in school knows Liu Yangyang likes Shen Junfu. Back when Xu Yin from our class was Shen Junfu’s girlfriend, she was constantly harassed by her. But haven’t Huo Qingzhuo and Shen Junfu been broken up for a long time now?”
…
Regarding the surrounding gossip, Shen Junfu merely lifted her eyelids, then lay back down to continue sleeping, acting as if she knew nothing.
Huo Qingzhuo put down her textbook and rubbed her temples. She really didn’t want to deal with this group of “elementary students.” With this time, what else couldn’t she be doing?
Standing up and walking to the door, Huo Qingzhuo looked at the young girls in front of her. “Is something the matter?”
“You…”
From a distance, she hadn’t noticed, but now that Huo Qingzhuo was standing so close to them, she realized Huo Qingzhuo was actually quite tall—much taller than their tallest, Liu Yangyang. She looked to be over 1.7 meters.
The girl in the front who had started to speak suddenly stammered. She gave a guilty look to Liu Yangyang beside her before continuing, “You are Huo Qingzhuo?”
Huo Qingzhuo: …I knew this was a waste of time.
“Stay in the classroom at noon and don’t leave. We have something to say to you.” Under Huo Qingzhuo’s speechless gaze, the group finally finished stating their intent.
“Is that all? Boring.” Thinking there might be something new, Huo Qingzhuo turned back with a look of slight disappointment to continue memorizing her text, leaving the girls at the door stomping their feet in anger.
Wei Qingqing had been paying attention to the situation at the door. Seeing Huo Qingzhuo completely unconcerned, she was somewhat worried and nudged Shen Junfu’s arm.
“Qingzhuo seems to be in trouble.”
Shen Junfu was obviously not asleep and had heard those words. She took a deep breath, opened her eyes, and looked at Wei Qingqing. “She’s not in trouble; it’s more like those people are the ones in trouble.”
Wei Qingqing didn’t understand, but Shen Junfu knew exactly what was going on. With the way Huo Qingzhuo had easily handled her before, dealing with these “small fry” would be a piece of cake. Rather than worrying about Huo Qingzhuo, it was better to worry about those girls.
Throughout the morning, no one mentioned the matter again. Huo Qingzhuo focused on her classes and took notes. After all, she was now balancing both her studies and her career, and her time would be significantly shortened, so she had to be more diligent. Moreover, in this life, she didn’t want to leave any more regrets.
As soon as the noon bell rang, most of the people in the class were ready to go. The moment the teacher left, they immediately rushed toward the cafeteria.
Huo Qingzhuo organized the notes she had just taken and pulled out a workbook to start doing exercises. She wasn’t in a hurry; she wasn’t a picky eater anyway. Going to the cafeteria now would just mean waiting in line. It was better to wait a while and just eat whatever was left.
The crowd gradually dispersed. Wei Qingqing absentmindedly packed her schoolbag, occasionally looking up at Huo Qingzhuo in the front row. Shen Junfu was waiting for her nearby, playing on her phone.
Liu Yangyang’s group was afraid Huo Qingzhuo would leave early, so someone was already waiting at the door. Once most people had gone, Liu Yangyang’s group had basically all arrived.
“Those who have nothing to do with Huo Qingzhuo, leave quickly. This is none of your business,” a short boy shouted at the remaining people in the class.
Huo Qingzhuo pinched her temples, a headache forming. She was already calculating how to keep the impact of this incident to a minimum. After all, she would inevitably be a public figure in the future; it wouldn’t be good if some “black material” was dug up.
There were already very few people left in the classroom. Now, only Huo Qingzhuo, Wei Qingqing, and an obviously impatient Shen Junfu remained.
“Shen Junfu, do you still want to help her?” Liu Yangyang stood outside the door; she still couldn’t figure out Shen Junfu’s stance.
“Do whatever you want. What the hell does it have to do with me? Wei Qingqing, let’s go.”
Putting away her phone, Shen Junfu grabbed the strap of Wei Qingqing’s backpack and walked out, clearly intending not to get involved.
Liu Yangyang breathed a sigh of relief. The group swarmed into the Class 9 classroom and surrounded Huo Qingzhuo.
Liu Yangyang walked up to Huo Qingzhuo and kicked a desk askew, making a loud bang.
Setting down the pen she had been twirling, even in this disadvantageous position, Huo Qingzhuo remained unhurried. She looked up at Liu Yangyang, waiting for the other party’s next move. After all, she didn’t want to get a disciplinary mark; she had to frame this as an act of self-defense.
Sure enough, Liu Yangyang raised her hand first, showing no mercy, and swung directly at Huo Qingzhuo’s face. Seizing the moment, Huo Qingzhuo braced against the desk and backed away. While dodging Liu Yangyang’s hand, she didn’t forget to give Liu Yangyang a push. The slap instantly took a turn and landed directly on the face of the boy standing next to Liu Yangyang.
A crisp smack rang out, instantly dazing the group.
“Why did you hit me?” The boy held his face, looking at Liu Yangyang in disbelief.
“It’s not…” Looking at her own hand, Liu Yangyang pointed at Huo Qingzhuo. “You did something, didn’t you?! You pushed my arm just now!”
“Is that so? Who saw it?” Huo Qingzhuo stood outside the circle of people at her leisure, spreading her hands innocently.
“It was you! All of you, go catch her!” Liu Yangyang shouted in a rage, pointing at Huo Qingzhuo.
A group of reckless high schoolers only knew how to charge forward blindly. In Huo Qingzhuo’s eyes, their movements were like a series of slow-motion frames. She dodged left and right, leading the group on a chase through the classroom. The desks, which weren’t very tidy to begin with, were knocked over one by one.
Wei Qingqing was pulled to the stairwell by Shen Junfu, but she couldn’t stop worrying. She pulled back on Shen Junfu’s hand. “No, I’m still worried about Qingzhuo. Junfu, let’s go back. They are all afraid of you. Can you please help Qingzhuo?”
“You care about her that much? Then go back yourself.”
With dark eyes, Shen Junfu shook off Wei Qingqing’s hand and went down the stairs.
Listening to the sounds coming from the classroom, Wei Qingqing looked at Shen Junfu, who had disappeared around the corner of the stairs, and then toward the classroom. Steeling her heart, she sent a text message to the class teacher and turned to run back.
Shen Junfu, hiding at the turn of the lower stairs, saw Wei Qingqing indeed running back. She frowned, kicked the corner of the wall, but followed her anyway.
When Wei Qingqing rushed back to the classroom, she saw the entire room in a mess. Huo Qingzhuo was leaning casually against the back wall, while the group of troublemakers stood opposite her, looking disheveled and as if they wanted to strangle her.
“What… what is going on here?”
Wei Qingqing had never expected this situation and stood frozen at the door.
Never mind Wei Qingqing; even Shen Junfu, who followed closely behind and had some psychological expectations, was somewhat surprised.
“Watch out!”
Huo Qingzhuo had originally held the upper hand and had no problems. However, she didn’t expect Wei Qingqing to suddenly return, and she certainly didn’t expect that group to become so desperate. One of them, losing all sense of proportion, picked up a stool and threw it.
Perhaps out of rage, the person’s aim was off. They had intended to hit Huo Qingzhuo, but the stool flew directly toward Wei Qingqing at the door.
Huo Qingzhuo and Shen Junfu spoke at the same time. Wei Qingqing was frozen in place with fear. Shen Junfu reached out to pull her away, and in the heat of the moment, Huo Qingzhuo didn’t think twice and reached out her arm to block it.
“Hiss!”
The stool hit Huo Qingzhuo’s arm squarely. Huo Qingzhuo gasped in pain. Looking at the stool on the floor, anger flared up inside her. She had originally just wanted to play around with them, but she hadn’t expected them to be so reckless with life and limb.
Shen Junfu was also shaken with lingering fear. After pulling Wei Qingqing a bit further away, she stepped forward, her dark gaze fixed on the group inside.
“Are you blind? Where were you throwing that stool!”
Pressing forward step by step, Shen Junfu walked up to the boy who had just thrown the stool and delivered a direct kick, knocking him to the ground.
“Shen Junfu! Forget about them, Qingzhuo’s hand is bleeding!”
Wei Qingqing was terrified. When she regained her senses, she saw Huo Qingzhuo frowning and clutching her arm. Red blood had already soaked through the white sleeve of her school uniform.
Shen Junfu turned her head, about to say something, but she didn’t notice a hand suddenly reach out from the group behind her. With a violent shove, she was pushed forward—and not far in front of her was the sharp corner of a desk.
