- Chapter 39 - Our Relationship
Vines bound her limbs, completely restricting her movement. It was pitch dark around her; the only sound she could hear was running water.
Whenever Yue xi moved even a little, the vines tightened. Once she stopped, they would slowly loosen—neither slack nor painfully tight, just restraining. Since the day Qing he caught her, she’d been left here; roughly estimated, it had been three days.
During those three days Qing he came to feed her punctually every morning, noon, and night. The rest of the time she was left alone.
The place was terrifyingly quiet; without the sound of water, Yue xi was sure she would have gone mad long ago. But now she was not far from madness.
Something crawled up her leg—soft, slimy, and cold to the touch—and she shuddered. She couldn’t move, forced to let it do as it pleased.
Could it be a snake? At the thought, cold sweat broke out on her back. Her only fear was snakes; even seeing one on TV gave her nightmares.
She struggled desperately a few times, and the vines immediately tightened, almost about to snap her limbs. Some had even wrapped around her neck. They weren’t so tight as to choke completely, but they were enough to make breathing difficult.
The thing circled upward, already nearly reaching the top of her thighs.
The sound of the flowing water suddenly grew louder. A gust of wind—no one knew where it came from—brushed past and sent a chill up her leg.
What had been left on her leg?
Yue xi collapsed into panic.
“I was wrong! I won’t run away again! Xiaoqing, baby! Please—”
A light laugh floated by her ear. The tightened vines loosened. A hand grasped her chin.
“Do you really know you were wrong?”
“Yes, I know!”
Yue xi nodded frantically like someone pounding a pestle. In this situation, if she didn’t hurry to admit fault, wouldn’t she be eaten by whatever filthy thing was there?
Qing he sneered and slid a finger from Yue xi’s lips down to her neck.
“Then you have to show some sincerity, otherwise how can I believe you?”
Yue xi half understood what she meant, half didn’t. If she did what Qing he wanted, would the plot really not fall apart?
“Sister, are you abandoning me?” Yue xi asked suddenly.
Qing he’s voice softened; she cozied up, and the scent of grass and wood filled Yue xi’s nose. Her head grew faint.
Wasn’t Yù Qing the one who said Xiaoqing had cut their bond? It should be okay, right?
Yue xi wasn’t sure, but she couldn’t resist.
When Xiaoqing’s soft body pressed against her, she surrendered completely.
Qing he’s hand wandered along her throat and landed over her heart; her fingernails lightly grazed the skin. Yue xi trembled all over; her heart pounded wildly.
“Xiaoqing, let me go,” she said, voice slightly hoarse, breathing no longer steady.
Qing he was pleased with her performance and pinched her. “You should let go of your hands, or else—” Her voice paused like a crystal bell; her lips brushed Yuexi’s ear. “How will you please me?”
Though the tone was perfectly ordinary, Yue xi’s heart raced at it, her throat dry, her body heating up.
A hand loosened. The vines rustled softly and the light brightened a little.
Yuexi could now see that they were in a karst cave; the surrounding rock walls emitted a faint, colorful glow—strangely eerie. Under ordinary circumstances it might have been creepy, but in the current atmosphere it added an uncanny kind of moodiness.
Through the dim light Yuexi looked at Xiaoqing and noticed she was staring at her with a trace of affection.
Qing he didn’t flinch from Yuexi’s gaze; their eyes met directly, and the cold sharpness in Qing he’s eyes had softened somewhat.
“Are you tired of me?” she asked.
Yuexi got flustered and hurriedly said, “Of course not!”
“Then why did you leave without saying goodbye?”
Yuexi paused a moment, then said in a low voice, “Because your destined one appeared. If I, as expendable fodder, didn’t withdraw, death would be the only outcome.”
Qing he’s expression shifted slightly. “Who would hurt you?”
Anyone foolish enough to lay hands on her would regret it; she’d kill them now if she could.
Isn’t that you? Yuexi stared at Qing he for a few seconds, then bent and kissed the corner of her lips.
Could she escape? No way.
From the moment she met Xiaoqing, she’d been doomed.
Qing he hooked her arm around Yuexi’s neck and accepted her. Lips and teeth tangled; the floral, wooden scent intensified and Yuexi felt intoxicated, as if eating flowers.
The kiss deepened. Overwhelmed by Xiaoqing’s sweet scent, Yuexi forgot her original intention to treat Xiaoqing like a little sister—she wanted to devour her.
Qing he seemed pleased; the pale mark of the green vine on the back of her neck flickered twice and a small flower bloomed at the tip.
They kissed as if lost in the moment—the suggestive sound of the water echoing around the cave, amplifying their emotions.
Qing he’s lips went numb from being sucked; her tongue seemed wooden. She gently pushed Yuexi away and lay in her arms, breathing hard. When she lowered her head, the segment of her neck—white and smooth like a piece of lotus root—was exposed.
Yue xi suddenly felt a toothy itch and a dry throat. She lowered her head and bit Qing he’s neck, causing the other to tremble.
Yue xi bit down hard; her canines pierced the thin skin. Qing he let out a small catlike moan and dug her nails into Yue xi’s back.
“Trying to bite me to death?” Qing he asked.
Yue xi’s voice was muffled. “Want to eat you.”
Qing he didn’t say anything more; she even tilted her head slightly and stretched out her neck invitingly.
Yue xi wouldn’t make her hurt—Xiaoqing was soft and delicate; the slightest touch reddened her skin. How could Yue xi bear it?
Biting turned into kissing. Qing he’s skin was like silk—tender and fine—so lovable.
Yue xi felt like a wolf eyeing a little white rabbit that she’d been coveting from the shadows. Now that she had the chance, she wanted to make up for all the missed moments.
The word “control” had already been purged from her mind.
Qing he had long since run out of strength; she lay limp in Yue xi’s arms, her hot breath showering Yue xi’s neck. The vines binding Yuexi had somehow loosened.
Yue xi cupped her waist and murmured “Xiaoqing” into her ear.
Qing he didn’t respond. When Yuexi prepared to take things further, Qing he used vines to tie her up again.
Yue xi: “?”
Her eyes were rimmed with red, as if drunk.
Seeing her anxious look, Qing he smiled in satisfaction.
“What is our relationship now?”
Qing he’s question seemed casual, but Yue xi had to think seriously. She knew what Xiaoqing wanted—but could she give it?
“You call me sister already—aren’t we sisters?” Yue xi said.
“Sisters?” Qing he laughed as if she’d heard a joke. “Which sisters do such things?”
She pressed a finger to Yue xi’s lips—where it had been kissed too much, it tingled with pain.
“From the day you left me and ran, you were no longer my sister,” she said.
Yue xi was speechless; her head cleared a bit.
Seeing Yue xi adjusting her clothes, Qing he’s brow furrowed in displeasure.
“You’re so disobedient.”
Her tone dropped, like she was muttering to herself. Yue xi heard a sliver of danger in it.
Sure enough, when Qing he looked at her again, the vines binding her moved—inch by inch they tightened, as if wanting to cut into the flesh.
“I originally wanted to treat you gently, but you’re just unbearable.”
Yue xi was pushed to the ground. Qing he lifted her skirt and straddled Yuexi’s legs, spreading her fingers across her chest.
Her hand wandered across Yuexi’s bosom; a restlessness rose in Yuexi’s body, a wildfire spreading that left her mouth dry and throat parched.
“Is it so hard to say you like me?”
Qing he looked down at her from above; the bright eyes were hidden beneath long lashes, concealing her true feelings.
Yue xi opened her mouth but the words stuck in her throat; nothing would come out.
Qing he snorted coldly and squeezed her neck.
“What a stubborn pride—yet you must stay by my side. Even if you were mute, you would remain here, to serve as something that pleases me.”
Having said that, Yuexi’s hand was seized and sent to the secret place only she had visited.
