After Transmigrating into a Book, I Had a Flash Marriage with the Beautiful Crazy Villain - Chapter 27.1
If the timing hadn’t been so inappropriate, Song Qingyi would have loved to have a proper discussion with Chu Ling about this whole “good person card” issue.
Just as she was about to speak, however, a sudden phone call demanded her immediate attention, forcing her to put the conversation on hold.
Chu Ling remained completely oblivious to Song Qingyi’s thoughts, still basking in her own happiness.
Song Qingyi glanced at her twice before sighing helplessly. “I’ll take you home first. There’s something urgent at the company I need to handle.”
Chu Ling nodded eagerly. “Sure!”
But before she could finish, her phone buzzed with a new message. After checking it, she abruptly changed her mind. “Wait, actually, just drop me off at the intersection up ahead.”
Song Qingyi’s grip on the steering wheel tightened slightly, though she kept her tone casual. “Do you have something to take care of?”
Chu Ling nodded, her fingers flying across her phone screen as she typed. “Mhm, not exactly. It’s my friend, ah, come to think of it, you two just missed each other earlier. I was supposed to meet her, and she suddenly said she has something to tell me. I’ll go see what’s up.”
A shadow flickered across Song Qingyi’s expression, but she quickly masked it. Then, feigning nonchalance, she added, “I see. Send me your location once you get there. I’ll pick you up after I’m done and meet your friend in the process.”
Chu Ling was about to decline, saying she could just head back on her own later. But when she turned and caught Song Qingyi’s expression, she hesitated.
Song Qingyi looked, a little off.
Was she upset?
Well, that made sense. After what had just happened being betrayed by the people who should have been closest to her, it was only natural for her to feel down. Would refusing her now make things worse? Would Song Qingyi feel even more hurt? Chu Ling wavered.
Ah, whatever. If Song Qingyi wanted to come, so be it. Maybe she just needed an excuse to clear her head. Chu Ling didn’t need to overthink it.
Even if Song Qingyi and Qiu Shuang met, as long as Chu Ling didn’t do anything stupid to provoke the protagonist, they’d still be safe!
So she nodded. “Alright, I’ll send you the address. But, uh fair warning, my friend’s a bit hard to describe. If she says anything offensive, don’t take it personally, okay?”
Song Qingyi’s brow arched slightly, but she merely nodded without comment.
When they reached the next intersection, Chu Ling bid Song Qingyi goodbye and got out to wait for Qiu Shuang.
That girl had insisted Chu Ling wait by the roadside for her “grand entrance.” Chu Ling had her doubts.
Before long, an outrageously flashy sports car roared into view, slowing to a stop under Chu Ling’s increasingly stunned gaze.
Qiu Shuang leaned halfway out the window, blowing Chu Ling a playful whistle. “Hey hey hey, pretty lady, all alone? Wanna hop in for a ride~?”
Chu Ling: “…”
“Thanks, but no thanks. My mom’s calling me home for dinner.” She turned to leave.
Qiu Shuang panicked. “Hey hey hey! You little brat, don’t you dare run! Get your butt in here, now!”
With a sigh, Chu Ling climbed into the car under the curious stares of passersby. Before she could even react, Qiu Shuang shoved a pair of sunglasses onto her face, then adjusted her own with a dramatic flourish. “And we’re off!”
The sports car roared to life once more and sped forward.
However, city roads were always plagued by traffic jams, no matter the time. Any vehicle that ventured into them was doomed to crawl along like scrap metal.
After inching forward at a snail’s pace for a while, Chu Ling’s merciless laughter broke the silence inside the car.
“Shuangshuang, was this part of your grand plan too? Getting stuck in traffic?”
Qiu Shuang slammed the steering wheel in frustration. “How could this happen?! I finally got this chance!”
Chu Ling glanced at her. “This car isn’t yours?”
Qiu Shuang shook her head. “Do I look like someone who could afford such a flashy car? It’s my boss’s.”
She looked so smug that Chu Ling almost thought she’d misheard. “Who? Your boss?”
An image of a woman she’d met once flashed through her mind wasn’t her name, Fang Manwen?
She was quite a distinctive woman, and Chu Ling remembered her vividly, but…
“I thought you and your boss didn’t get along? She actually lent you her car?”
If memory served, their last encounter had ended on a rather sour note.
After the question, there was a long silence from Qiu Shuang. Chu Ling turned to look at her and was shocked to see her face flushed red!
“!”
“What’s wrong with you? Why are you making that face? No way?! There’s something going on?!”
Qiu Shuang cleared her throat, looking distinctly uncomfortable. “I’ll explain in detail later.” But she couldn’t hold back and added in a whisper, “Actually, the reason I asked you out today was to talk about this.”
Chu Ling didn’t understand and was utterly baffled, her curiosity instantly piqued.
By the time the two finally escaped the traffic nightmare and found a suitable place to sit down, Chu Ling could finally satisfy her burning curiosity.
“Alright, everything’s ready. You may begin.”
Chu Ling stared at Qiu Shuang with utmost seriousness, waiting for her to speak.
But Qiu Shuang seemed like a completely different person, fidgeting and hesitating for an eternity completely unlike her usual self.
As a result, Chu Ling’s expression grew increasingly strange. She narrowed her eyes and said gravely, “Demon, who are you? Get out of my friend’s body!”
The sudden accusation made Qiu Shuang burst out laughing. “Alright, alright, I’ll talk! I just didn’t know where to start. Why are you so impatient?”
Chu Ling assumed an attentive posture. “Go ahead, I’m listening.”
Qiu Shuang seemed to have finally steeled herself, but she still glanced around furtively before leaning in and speaking in a near-whisper. “So I, uh, well. I accidentally slept with Fang Manwen.”
Her voice was so quiet it was almost inaudible. Chu Ling had to strain her ears to catch it, and even then, she almost missed it.
“What? You what?”
Chu Ling wondered if she was hallucinating, so she asked again, just to be sure.
Qiu Shuang’s cheeks were flushed, but now that the words were out, it didn’t seem as hard to say. This time, she spoke much louder.
“I said, I slept with Fang Manwen!”
The curiosity in Chu Ling’s eyes was instantly replaced by shock. “WHAT?!”
Her voice rose so sharply in disbelief that Qiu Shuang frantically clapped a hand over her mouth. “Keep it down! Do you want the whole world to hear, you idiot?!”
Chu Ling, still dazed, lowered her voice under Qiu Shuang’s insistence but her disbelief remained.
For a long time, she struggled to find her voice before finally calming down. “No, let’s sort this out. You hated Fang Manwen at first, right?”
Qiu Shuang nodded firmly. “Right!”
“Then here’s the question, how on earth did you two end up rolling into bed together? If I remember correctly, it’s only been a few days since we last saw each other, not years.”
Qiu Shuang’s resolute expression gradually turned awkward. “Actually, I realized Fang Manwen isn’t that annoying after all. At first, I thought she was irritating because I didn’t understand her, you know?”
Chu Ling’s gaze turned blank. “So now you’ve thoroughly understood her?”
Qiu Shuang also froze for a moment before looking at her with surprise. “Beibei, I think you’ve evolved. How come everything you say sounds so suggestive now?”
Chu Ling: “Let’s not talk about me. We’re discussing your problem right now.”
Qiu Shuang obediently nodded. “Okay!”
Chu Ling’s expression turned serious. “Fang Manwen, she’s much older than you, isn’t she?”
Qiu Shuang thought back. “About seven or eight years older, but it’s not that big a deal.”
Chu Ling was shocked. “Weren’t you the one who said you liked younger people?”
Qiu Shuang: “That wasn’t me.”
Then, under Chu Ling’s sharp gaze, she slowly averted her eyes. “Fine, it was me. But Beibei, sometimes feelings are just magical like that. Even though she wasn’t my usual type at first. Fang Manwen really isn’t bad, you know? And now I’ve discovered the perks of dating someone older! Fang Manwen takes such good care of me, and being with her is really comfortable.”
This girl was clearly beyond saving.
“You’re doomed. You’ve fallen in love. Also, spare me the details, I’m not that curious,” Chu Ling said flatly.
