After Transmigrating into a Book, I Had a Flash Marriage with the Beautiful Crazy Villain - Chapter 25.4
The drawn-out tone made Chu Ling’s nerves tighten even further. When Song Qingyi finally spoke, the very first sentence made her pupils tremble, she didn’t want to hear the rest.
What did Song Qingyi just say? That last night, Chu Ling had clung to her like an octopus and refused to let go?
Was that really her? No way, right?!
Chu Ling froze for a moment before suddenly realizing that, yeah, she might actually be capable of something like that.
After all, she had zero resistance to Song Qingyi’s looks.
Song Qingyi watched her stunned expression, amusement dancing in her eyes, before continuing to leisurely list her crimes. “Hmm and then, you grabbed my hand and hugged it to your chest, refusing to let go.”
“You leaned in and tried to kiss me.”
“You held me so tight, you wouldn’t release me no matter what.”
“When I tried to remove your makeup, you flirted with me.”
“I kindly helped you bathe, but you ended up harassing me.”
“Even when getting dressed, you wouldn’t settle down, you didn’t want to wear clothes and even tried to strip mine off.”
One after another, Song Qingyi’s tone wasn’t harsh, but to Chu Ling’s ears, it all condensed into a single word.
Doomed.
She did all that?!
Chu Ling, oh Chu Ling, how did you never realize you had such guts before?!
Dizzy with self-loathing, Chu Ling still found it unbearable to listen to, her toes curling in embarrassment as if trying to dig a hole to disappear into.
Right now, all she could think about was finding some way to end herself to escape the torment of listening to Song Qingyi recount her crimes.
But Song Qingyi’s voice continued to drift lazily into her ears, relentless, like a chant.
Chu Ling had never known her voice could be so dizzying, she couldn’t take it anymore, not even half a second longer!
So she quickly raised a hand to stop her, then slowly covered her face.
“Alright, alright, enough, Master…”
Song Qingyi obediently fell silent.
Chu Ling took a deep breath, her voice trembling as she made one last desperate attempt. “Song Qingyi, tell me the truth, did I really do all this?”
Song Qingyi almost laughed but held it back. Under Chu Ling’s hopeful gaze, she slowly nodded. “Yes, it was you.”
The light in Chu Ling’s eyes dimmed.
Well, at least now she knew the cause of her impending doom.
She really was destined to be cannon fodder even if she didn’t offend the female lead, she’d still end up provoking the villain and suffering the consequences.
Chu Ling lay back on the bed with an air of resignation and muttered weakly, “I can rest in peace now. Please spare my family. Song Qingyi, I know you, you’re a good person.”
Her words were utterly sincere, but the inexplicable meaning behind them left Song Qingyi momentarily stunned and puzzled.
Then Chu Ling remembered something else. Without getting up, she raised her wrist. “I have another question, what happened to my wrist? And my lips, why are they so red and swollen?”
Song Qingyi set aside her earlier confusion and replied calmly, “Probably bitten by an insect. As for your lips, think carefully are you allergic to alcohol? Maybe you shouldn’t drink next time.”
Chu Ling was baffled.
Bitten by an insect? What kind of vicious bug could leave her wrist in such a state?
And her lips was it really from drinking? Was she allergic to alcohol? Chu Ling wasn’t sure. She’d never had much exposure to alcohol before, except for last night when she drank a bit too much.
Could it really be, an allergic reaction?
Chu Ling was half-convinced. If anyone else had said this, she wouldn’t have believed it. But since it was Song Qingyi, who had no reason to lie, this had to be the truth.
She had thought.
Turns out, she was just spectacularly unlucky, bitten by an insect, allergic to alcohol, and now on Song Qingyi’s bad side.
Did misfortune really have to pile on like this when someone was already down?
Chu Ling closed her eyes peacefully, trying to escape reality.
A soft chuckle suddenly broke the silence in the room. Chu Ling opened her eyes and looked at Song Qingyi.
The resentment in her heart faded by half the moment she saw that smile and then it hit her.
Was it possible, that Song Qingyi was just teasing her?!
Otherwise, why would she be laughing now?
The lifeless look in Chu Ling’s eyes suddenly brightened. She sat up abruptly, staring at Song Qingyi with hopeful eyes. “Were you, lying to me just now?!”
Song Qingyi’s lips curled up, clearly amused. She tossed out a casual, “Mhm, I lied. You were very obedient when drunk, did whatever I told you to.”
Then she turned and walked into the bathroom.
Chu Ling: “…”
Now the real question was had Song Qingyi been the one to change her clothes, remove her makeup, and bathe her?
If just if, it really had been Song Qingyi.
Well, that wasn’t much better.
Chu Ling belatedly realized that she’d probably been seen from head to toe by the other woman. She curled up on the bed like a shrimp that had been grilled alive.
The tips of her ears, peeking out from her hair, slowly turned red, then redder, almost as if they were about to bleed.
Help. How was she supposed to face Song Qingyi now?!
Compared to offending her, suffering this level of social death in front of her wasn’t any better. Either way, it seemed like the universe just refused to let her live.
In the quiet, broken only by the sounds from the bathroom, Chu Ling contemplated many things.
Like why social death existed.
Couldn’t humans just emigrate to another planet?
And did aliens even exist?
Could she just teleport back right this instant?!
Only the last option seemed remotely reliable, but even after Song Qingyi emerged from the bathroom, Chu Ling still hadn’t managed to return to her original world.
Finally, Chu Ling resigned herself to fate. She stood up with feigned nonchalance, brushed past Song Qingyi as if nothing had happened, and then bolted into the bathroom at top speed to hide.
Her gaze had never been so unwavering before. Even though Song Qingyi looked completely different from what she was used to, Chu Ling’s eyes didn’t stray for a second.
Song Qingyi, however, had no such reservations. Her eyes lingered on Chu Ling, watching her pretend to be indifferent while awkwardly scurrying into the bathroom, a rather self-deceptive display.
Five minutes passed, and the bathroom remained silent.
Ten minutes later, it was still quiet.
Song Qingyi finally spoke up lazily, “Any later, and we’ll miss breakfast.”
At that, the bathroom finally stirred. Moments later, Chu Ling stepped out with a determined expression. “Let’s go!”
Even if she’d socially embarrassed herself to death, she still had to eat. A person is iron, and food is steel!
Of course, it would’ve been even better if Song Qingyi hadn’t burst out laughing.
Chu Ling charged out the door ahead of everyone, her face a picture of despair.
Then came an even more awkward realization, she didn’t even know the way. Halfway there, she remembered and had to slow down to wait for Song Qingyi to catch up.
How humiliating…
Chu Ling closed her eyes, trying to convince herself.
It’s fine. It’s not the first time. Just get used to it. Really, once you’re used to it, any other embarrassing situations won’t even faze you.
Fortunately, Song Qingyi had returned to her usual self probably wary of pushing Chu Ling to the point of outright fury.
Noticing this, Chu Ling finally exhaled in relief and gradually regained her composure, following Song Qingyi into the dining room.
But the moment she stepped inside, she wanted to retreat.
The atmosphere in the dining room was downright eerie.
Song Qingyi, however, seemed unfazed. When she noticed Chu Ling frozen in place, she tilted her head questioningly, forcing Chu Ling to steel herself and follow.
This dining room defied logic. She had imagined multiple tables, but this one was different more like a private room, with just one long table at its center!
Chu Ling’s gaze drifted to the far end of the table. Aside from Auntie Song, there was another woman around her age, both seated at the head.
To Auntie Song’s left sat the woman she’d seen the night before.
To her right were a listless Ning Hongmian and a stern-faced woman. Given their similar features, they were likely mother and daughter.
The dynamics seemed complicated.
Chu Ling had mentally prepared herself, but when Song Qingyi started addressing everyone, she realized her preparation had been insufficient.
Because Song Qingyi referred to the other woman at the head of the table as “Mother.”
In that instant, only one thought flashed through Chu Ling’s mind:
Did she really need to eat this breakfast?
