After Transmigrating into a Book, I Had a Flash Marriage with the Beautiful Crazy Villain - Chapter 15
The sudden action froze Chu Ling in place, leaving her unsure how to react.
When she saw Song Qingyi coming downstairs, she had imagined countless possibilities except for Song Qingyi suddenly embracing her.
What on earth was happening? Why had Song Qingyi just hugged her out of nowhere? What was she supposed to do in this situation? Should she hug her back?
The thought turned Chu Ling’s brain into mush. Instinctively, she tried to move, only to realize both her arms were pinned tightly by Song Qingyi, leaving her completely immobilized.
Next, she attempted to lift her hands. Though her upper arms were trapped, her forearms could still move. But the moment she shifted, Song Qingyi abruptly tightened her grip.
She’s so strong!
The thought flashed through Chu Ling’s mind. After a brief internal struggle, she gave up with a resigned sigh, staying still in Song Qingyi’s arms like a lifeless doll.
No sooner had the idea formed than she felt Song Qingyi’s hand slide upward, pressing against the back of her head.
In an instant, the embrace morphed into an octopus-like entanglement, pulling them even closer together.
This was way beyond anything Chu Ling had anticipated. She stiffened, sensing that things were taking a dangerous turn. They were pressed so tightly together that she could distinctly feel the rhythm of Song Qingyi’s heartbeat!
The atmosphere grew inexplicably strange.
Ahhhh, help! What is Song Qingyi trying to do??
Chu Ling’s face burned crimson, the surge of heat making her head feel like it might explode. Her thoughts slowed to a sluggish crawl.
This is so weird. This is really, really weird!
But before she could snap out of her daze, Song Qingyi, who had been holding her so tightly—abruptly let go.
Chu Ling stared at her in bewilderment. “What’s wrong? Why did you suddenly?”
She nearly misspoke and quickly corrected herself. “I mean, why did you rush down here all of a sudden? And also…”
Song Qingyi simply gazed at her in silence. Chu Ling could clearly see the complexity in her eyes, so much so that her brain short-circuited mid-sentence, leaving her frozen in place.
Her voice trailed off weakly before fading into silence. The two of them stood there, locked in an odd, wordless standoff.
Chu Ling was genuinely confused. She didn’t understand what Song Qingyi was trying to do, what those complicated emotions in her eyes meant, or why she wasn’t saying anything.
The unpredictability of it all left her feeling uneasy.
Her thoughts were in complete disarray. Almost the moment she became aware of it, she averted her gaze first.
She was a little afraid of Song Qingyi’s stare.
But letting the silence drag on wasn’t an option. So Chu Ling forced a lighthearted tone and joked, “If you want to soak in the hot springs too, you should go back upstairs and change first. The springs aren’t going anywhere, no need to rush.
“Also, your clothes are all wet. You should deal with that quickly, or you might catch a cold.”
She couldn’t see the look in Song Qingyi’s eyes, but she could feel her gaze piercing through her.
It sent an involuntary shiver down her spine. For the first time, she acutely sensed the oppressive weight of Song Qingyi’s presence, making her want to flee.
Chu Ling willed herself to stay calm, silently praying that Song Qingyi would hurry back upstairs so she could catch her breath.
Otherwise…
If Song Qingyi wasn’t leaving, then she would.
Cowardice took hold, and the thought solidified in her mind.
Perhaps Song Qingyi had truly heard the silent plea in her heart, for Chu Ling soon noticed the sound of water gradually fading away, it seemed Song Qingyi had indeed left the hot spring.
Chu Ling quickly lifted her gaze, only to catch sight of Song Qingyi’s drenched figure retreating.
For some inexplicable reason, Chu Ling felt a pang of discomfort.
Had she overreacted? Maybe that embrace from Song Qingyi had just been an awkward attempt at comfort.
Chu Ling knew she was terrible at hiding her emotions, so it wasn’t surprising that Song Qingyi had noticed her earlier distress.
But she never expected Song Qingyi to comfort her in such a way.
If it could even be called comfort. A hug didn’t necessarily mean anything.
Though she told herself this, an uneasy feeling lingered in her chest.
Chu Ling stared blankly at the ceiling, her fingers idly skimming the water’s surface, her thoughts drifting somewhere far away.
Unbeknownst to her, her face had turned an unnatural shade of red from soaking in the hot spring for too long.
By the time Chu Ling’s awareness slowly returned, she realized her head was spinning.
At first, she wondered if she had simply overexerted her mind wasn’t there a saying that thinking too much could dull the brain, like a computer’s CPU overheating?
Maybe her current state wasn’t so different.
Her thoughts spiraled uncontrollably, and she didn’t even notice her face growing increasingly flushed.
In her daze, she suddenly felt herself being lifted, something warm pressing against her lips, water?
The moment she recognized it, she instinctively began swallowing, only then realizing how parched she was.
Some kind soul had given her water. Chu Ling hazily thought she should thank them before gulping down two full cups.
Her foggy mind finally cleared, the world sharpening back into focus.
When she looked up, she met Song Qingyi’s furious gaze. Chu Ling flinched instinctively and quickly pulled away from her embrace, sitting upright.
“I’m sorry. I think I caused trouble for you again.”
Chu Ling was utterly frustrated with herself. She knew full well that the weather wasn’t cool, and staying too long in the hot spring was risky. If Song Qingyi hadn’t acted quickly, she might have fainted right there in the pool.
The thought of what could have happened was terrifying!
Her shoulders slumped, her entire demeanor deflated.
Song Qingyi was indeed angry especially when she noticed Chu Ling’s unusual attention toward Ye Zhiyin. An inexplicable fury had burned inside her.
For a fleeting moment, staring at the oblivious Chu Ling, she had wanted to torment her relentlessly.
But the sharp words she’d spoken had hurt Chu Ling instead, and regret had flooded her the instant they left her lips. Song Qingyi knew she had issues, which was why she always maintained a careful facade around Chu Ling only this time, she had nearly lost control.
Seeing Chu Ling upset and hurt by her tone only deepened her remorse. When she pulled Chu Ling into her arms, she hadn’t even considered how to explain herself.
Yet the moment she held Chu Ling close, her heart felt inexplicably full. Just as she’d imagined, embracing Chu Ling brought a unique sense of fulfillment.
But Chu Ling had struggled, and without thinking, Song Qingyi had tightened her grip, unwilling to let her escape.
Fortunately, reason had prevailed in the end, and the situation wasn’t beyond repair.
Song Qingyi had initially planned to temporarily change out of the fitting clothes, but then she noticed the unnatural flush on Chu Ling’s face. Realizing she was probably overheated, she hurried to fetch some water.
Yet the first words Chu Ling said to her upon regaining consciousness were, “I’m sorry.”
Song Qingyi closed her eyes, not wanting Chu Ling to see the turmoil in her gaze.
For a moment, it felt as though the distance between them had suddenly widened.
Song Qingyi couldn’t understand why, and a restless unease settled in her chest yet she dared not let these emotions show in front of Chu Ling.
She would be afraid.
A sense of helplessness surged through her without warning.
