After Transmigrating into a Book, I Had a Flash Marriage with the Beautiful Crazy Villain - Chapter 11
In the end, the spontaneous mountain hike didn’t quite make it in time for the sunset.
But Chu Ling thought, since they were already there, it would feel like a waste not to reach the summit. So she pushed through her exhaustion and climbed to the top.
Even though they missed the sunset, they were rewarded with a sky full of stars not a bad trade-off.
Beyond that, the biggest takeaway of the day was probably, the photo now stored in her camera.
She wouldn’t share this photo. It would likely remain her private treasure.
One could say it was her favorite shot, especially since Chu Ling knew she wasn’t particularly skilled at photographing people.
But that weakness seemed to vanish when it came to Song Qingyi. Every time she raised her camera to capture her, Chu Ling felt that no matter the angle, Song Qingyi was breathtakingly beautiful. Inspiration surged endlessly in her mind, refusing to dry up.
Yet she restrained herself. Under Song Qingyi’s puzzled gaze, she lowered the camera and offered a casual explanation.
She didn’t mention the photo to Song Qingyi, this was her little secret. She would keep it as a memento for after their eventual divorce.
But even as she thought this, a flicker of doubt crept into her heart.
Was this really okay? Wasn’t this practically sneaking a photo? Why did it suddenly feel like the behavior of some obsessive stalker?
Chu Ling mentally scolded herself, but she couldn’t bring herself to confess. In the end, her selfishness won out, and she chose to keep it hidden.
Perhaps, in this marriage, this photo would be her only keepsake.
She had to admit, she did harbor some unspeakable thoughts about Song Qingyi.
But wasn’t that just human nature?
Still, if Song Qingyi ever found out, she might be disgusted.
At that thought, Chu Ling’s mood dipped slightly.
“What’s wrong? Did something upset you?”
Song Qingyi’s calm gaze settled on her, the concern in her voice instantly making Chu Ling feel guilty.
She shook her head. “No, it’s nothing. I’m just a little tired. We should head back, it’s getting late, and who knows how long it’ll take to get down and go home.”
As she spoke, her spirits lifted slightly, and she even managed a joke. “But thanks to you today, I’ve definitely exceeded my exercise quota!”
Honestly, if someone had asked her to hike in the afternoon heat before, Chu Ling would’ve thought they were insane.
Who in their right mind would go mountain climbing under the blazing sun? Were they out of their minds?
But now, if that person was Song Qingyi, Chu Ling’s perspective shifted entirely. When else would they climb if not now? Who said you couldn’t hike in the afternoon?
Yes, she was that hypocritical.
Still, Chu Ling couldn’t help but think she’d lost it,actually agreeing to climb a mountain with Song Qingyi on a scorching afternoon.
Great. They were both a little unhinged.
The thought made her burst into laughter.
Seeing Chu Ling finally smile, Song Qingyi studied her expression carefully. Only when she confirmed her mood had improved did she relax a little.
At least Chu Ling was happy. That meant the hike wasn’t for nothing.
By the time the two of them returned home from the mountain, it was already past nine. They had only eaten one meal all day, and Chu Ling’s stomach had long been growling with hunger. But she was simply too exhausted to move. On the way back, fatigue and drowsiness surged over her like a tidal wave, and she ended up sleeping the entire ride.
Song Qingyi, on the other hand, seemed to have boundless energy. Despite driving the whole way, she was still ready to cook once they got home. Seeing this, Chu Ling quickly grabbed her arm. “Don’t bother cooking, let’s just eat something simple and rest. Aren’t you tired at all?”
It was impossible not to admit, the gap between people was enormous. Some came back from hiking feeling like they’d died once, with no energy to move a muscle. Others, like Song Qingyi, looked perfectly fine, even spirited enough to think about cooking.
Just the thought of it made Chu Ling feel suffocated. After stopping Song Qingyi from cooking, she swayed unsteadily toward the kitchen. “Let me see if there’s anything simple to eat.”
Song Qingyi followed and promptly hauled her out of the kitchen. “Wait outside. It’ll be quick.”
Chu Ling was dazedly deposited onto the sofa. She had initially intended to protest, but the moment her body touched the soft cushions, she melted into a boneless heap, completely unwilling to move.
“Song Qingyi, help me this sofa is cursed! I can’t move!” Chu Ling sprawled limply across the couch, her eyes glazed over as she spoke weakly.
Song Qingyi couldn’t help but let the corners of her lips curl up. “Mhm, then hang in there for a bit. I’ll come save you later.”
The sofa beneath her seemed to have sucked out every last ounce of her strength. Chu Ling truly couldn’t move an inch, and she listlessly watched as Song Qingyi disappeared into the kitchen.
How could this be? It was just a hike, why did she feel completely wrecked?
Chu Ling sank into deep contemplation, but clearly, she didn’t reach any conclusions before drifting off into a hazy sleep.
When Song Qingyi emerged from the kitchen carrying two bowls of noodles, she found Chu Ling already fast asleep.
She must have been truly exhausted Song Qingyi could even hear the soft sound of Chu Ling’s light snoring.
It wasn’t loud, and it was kind of cute.
Song Qingyi softened her footsteps and crouched beside the sofa, gently brushing away the stray strands of hair from Chu Ling’s face.
Her fingers lingered lightly against Chu Ling’s cheek, but unexpectedly, Chu Ling seemed to sense it, nuzzling slightly into her palm instead.
Feeling the warmth against her hand, Song Qingyi’s eyes flickered, her lips curving unconsciously. Something swelled in her chest, threatening to overflow.
So, cute. How could her Lingling be this adorable? Like a little kitten. If petted too much, she’d probably get flustered and lash out with her claws, though that wouldn’t be the least bit threatening.
So, unbearably cute.
Song Qingyi gazed at the sleeping Chu Ling, her fingers unconsciously stroking the girl’s cheek, until a soft moan from Chu Ling snapped her out of it.
Song Qingyi abruptly withdrew her hand, her dark eyes lingering for a moment before she turned away. When she returned to the dining table, she saw that the noodles had already started to clump.
After spending a little more time, she prepared a fresh batch.
When Chu Ling was woken up, her mind was still foggy. The heaviness in her body made her brows furrow involuntarily.
Still, she endured it, forcing herself up to eat. She had intended to clean up afterward, but Song Qingyi pushed her straight into the bathroom instead. So Chu Ling obediently dragged her battered body through a shower and her nightly routine.
By the time everything was done, she collapsed into the soft embrace of her bed, her eyes closing as consciousness slipped away instantly.
Song Qingyi watched as Chu Ling, like a wandering spirit, mechanically tidied herself up and collapsed onto the bed without even closing the door, sighing deeply before stepping in to take care of the aftermath.
She tucked Chu Ling under the blankets, adjusted the air conditioning temperature.
After finishing all this, Song Qingyi gazed at the oblivious Chu Ling and couldn’t resist pressing a restrained, tender kiss to her cheek.
The softness against her lips made her linger, but she didn’t dare stay any longer. She abruptly stood up, turned off the light, and hurriedly left Chu Ling’s room.
She feared that even one more second of staying would make her unable to resist doing something to Chu Ling.
But the timing wasn’t right yet. Though Chu Ling was often oblivious most of the time, she could be surprisingly sharp on occasion. If she were to notice, she would surely run away.
Just wait a little longer. An excellent hunter always needed patience. She couldn’t rush things now.
Song Qingyi stood hidden in the dim light, her eyes gleaming unnervingly bright.
They were filled with absolute determination.
