After Transmigrating into a Book, I Had a Flash Marriage with the Beautiful Crazy Villain - Chapter 10
Chu Ling felt she was beyond redemption, she seemed completely at Song Qingyi’s mercy.
This wasn’t good. If things continued like this, she might really step into the abyss named Song Qingyi.
But what could she do? They were still in a marriage of convenience and had to keep up appearances for a while longer.
Chu Ling believed she could hold her ground, yet she couldn’t help but be easily swayed by Song Qingyi’s every move.
It was all because Song Qingyi was too beautiful!
Who could stay resolute in the face of such a stunning beauty? What was even more terrifying was that this beauty happened to be her favorite blogger. Thinking about it, Qiu Shuang wasn’t entirely wrong there really was a risk of falling for Song Qingyi.
Chu Ling felt a little troubled, but she still thought it wasn’t a big deal.
After all, her life was more important. She didn’t have many talents, but she was exceptionally good at valuing her life staying alive wasn’t easy.
Song Qingyi had only entered this fake marriage to appease her family. Though Chu Ling hadn’t asked for specifics, it was clear she was just a tool. Once the time was right, they would divorce.
Then, their connection would end, and they would return to being two parallel lines.
So Chu Ling was certain she wouldn’t lose herself in this relationship.
She didn’t deny her attraction, but thankfully, she was rational enough.
After sorting through her thoughts, Chu Ling quickly composed herself and asked, “Song Qingyi, when are we going to meet your family?”
Song Qingyi studied her thoughtfully before replying, “Not sure yet. I need to confirm the timing. I’ll let you know in advance so you’re prepared.”
Chu Ling nodded. “Alright.”
She didn’t feel any urgency, but something about Song Qingyi’s words struck her as odd.
Having to schedule family visits in advance, what kind of bizarre dynamic was that? Song Qingyi’s family situation seemed complicated.
But since she acted like it was completely normal, Chu Ling didn’t press further. After all, every family had its own dynamics. Maybe the Song family was just particularly formal and rule-bound.
In any case, it wasn’t happening now, so Chu Ling quickly put it out of her mind.
The desserts were nearly finished, and it was already past three in the afternoon. Chu Ling began wondering where else she could go for inspiration, but after much deliberation, she couldn’t come up with anything.
Then she realized something, she had wasted the entire month since transmigrating by staying cooped up at home. She was completely unfamiliar with this city.
Ah!
Frowning slightly in frustration, she glanced at Song Qingyi across from her and suddenly perked up. “Song Qingyi, do you know any scenic spots around here? I’d like to explore a bit more.”
Caught off guard by the question, Song Qingyi’s eyes flickered briefly before she calmly nodded. “Of course I do.”
Chu Ling brightened. Thank goodness she had asked.
“Where is it? Is it far? If it’s too distant, I’ll go tomorrow instead.”
Song Qingyi shook her head. “It’s not far. I’ll take you there.”
Chu Ling hesitated. “But aren’t you busy? If you have things to do, just give me the address. I can go by myself.”
She really didn’t want to trouble Song Qingyi any further. She had already taken up her entire morning, and now she was asking her to escort her somewhere else, wouldn’t that mean Song Qingyi got nothing done today?
Chu Ling felt a bit guilty. “Forget it, forget it. Maybe you should go attend to your own things. I’ll just look around on my own, don’t worry about me.”
But Song Qingyi acted as though she hadn’t heard a word. She stood up, glanced at the desserts on the table, and said, “Keep eating. I’ll go get the car. The timing should be just right.”
Chu Ling tilted her head in confusion, about to say something, but Song Qingyi had already turned and walked away.
Scratching her head, Chu Ling wondered, why was Song Qingyi pretending not to hear her? Had she spoken too softly? Before she could figure it out, Song Qingyi had already vanished. Hastily, Chu Ling lowered her head to finish off the last of her dessert.
Meanwhile, the moment Song Qingyi stepped out of the café, she swiftly pulled out her phone and made a call.
“Ah Yin, where are the best scenic spots nearby?”
Ye Zhiyin, who had just picked up the call and hadn’t even fully processed it yet: “?”
“Why the rush? So, where are you right now?”
Song Qingyi gave her the address and urged her to hurry up with an answer.
Ye Zhiyin was utterly astonished. “You’re way too energetic, don’t tell me you haven’t rested at all? Alright, alright, I get that you’re in a hurry, but calm down first.
“Let me think. There aren’t many scenic spots near you. If you want something really nice, the only option would be Jinding Mountain. It’s only about ten kilometers away, not too far. You might even catch the sunset.”
Though she’d given the suggestion, Ye Zhiyin still couldn’t quite believe it. Was Song Qingyi really going to climb a mountain? She couldn’t even picture it.
But in the brief moment she zoned out, Ye Zhiyin realized the other end of the line had gone eerily quiet. Why wasn’t Song Qingyi saying anything?
When she pulled the phone away to check, she saw Song Qingyi had already hung up!!!
Fine, fine. This woman, ditching her friend for romance!
Ye Zhiyin laughed in exasperation, all traces of sleepiness gone. She was now wide awake, and Song Qingyi’s uncharacteristic behavior only made her more curious. Just who was this person that had her so worked up? Rubbing her chin, a sly glint flashed in Ye Zhiyin’s eyes.
The moment she got her answer, Song Qingyi didn’t waste a single second. She hung up, fetched her car, picked up Chu Ling, and drove straight to their destination.
But Chu Ling still felt like she was imposing too much on Song Qingyi, wrestling with guilt the entire ride.
Noticing her unease, Song Qingyi sighed inwardly before speaking up. “I’m off today, so don’t feel like you’re troubling me. I’ve got nothing else going on anyway.”
Chu Ling wasn’t entirely convinced today was Friday, after all but Song Qingyi had no reason to lie to her. So, she could only nod. “Alright.”
About twenty minutes later, they arrived.
It wasn’t until she got out of the car that Chu Ling realized Song Qingyi had brought her to a mountain.
Though autumn had already begun, the lingering summer heat was still intense. Climbing a mountain in this weather in the middle of the afternoon.
Well, you had to admit Song Qingyi’s stamina was impressive.
Chu Ling forced a dry laugh internally, at a loss for words.
But all of this was because she’d impulsively asked Song Qingyi for suggestions, and the other woman had even gone out of her way to drive her here. Chu Ling couldn’t bring herself to refuse, so she resigned herself to the climb with silent tears.
She glanced at her outfit perfect, sporty and casual, ideal for hiking.
Then she looked at Song Qingyi. Her attire today was sleek and efficient just not exactly suited for mountain climbing.
After some thought, Chu Ling said, “Maybe you should wait at the base? Or you could head back first if you want.”
Chu Ling tried to tactfully persuade Song Qingyi not to climb the mountain her outfit looked nothing like someone prepared for hiking, and more like she was heading to a business meeting, the kind where deals worth hundreds of millions were made every minute.
Song Qingyi raised an eyebrow slightly. “Are you implying my stamina isn’t up to it?”
Chu Ling widened her eyes. “Is that what I meant?”
Song Qingyi chuckled softly. “Since I’m the one who brought you here, of course we’ll go up together. Besides, I think my stamina is pretty decent.”
Chu Ling immediately sensed the blatant provocation Song Qingyi was absolutely mocking her for having poor endurance!
No one could stand being told they weren’t up to the task!
And so, Chu Ling inexplicably found her competitive spirit ignited, marching up the mountain with bold determination.
Fifteen minutes into the hike, both were still in good shape. Half an hour in, Chu Ling started feeling a little tired, while Song Qingyi was only slightly out of breath. An hour later, Chu Ling was struggling to breathe smoothly, yet Song Qingyi remained merely winded.
Finally, Chu Ling sat down on a stone step, lost in thought.
This wasn’t scientific. How could Song Qingyi’s stamina be this good? It didn’t make sense.
Sure, part of it was her own lack of exercise, but Song Qingyi didn’t seem like the type to work out regularly, right?
At this thought, Chu Ling froze.
Did Song Qingyi actually have an exercise routine? She really had no idea.
But then she remembered among the videos Song Qingyi had posted, there were a few where her toned abs were clearly visible.
How could she have forgotten? Back when she first saw those videos, she’d nearly drooled over them.
No, no, just thinking about it was getting her fired up. Chu Ling slammed on the brakes, not daring to dwell on it any longer.
“Alright, I admit it. Your stamina really is better than mine.”
Chu Ling spoke with utmost sincerity, her eyes tinged with envy.
Song Qingyi smiled again, a hint of something deeper in her gaze, and said slowly, “If you’re envious, why not take action? I’ll wake you up for a workout tomorrow morning.”
Chu Ling: “?”
She waved her hands frantically. “No, no, that’s really not necessary.”
After instinctively refusing, curiosity got the better of her. “So, do you usually exercise?”
Song Qingyi nodded casually. “Mhm. I run and do some anaerobic training.”
Chu Ling gasped in admiration. No wonder, Song Qingyi even had those sculpted abs, so gorgeous they made her want to reach out and touch them.
Her thoughts derailed again, and Chu Ling hurriedly reined them in, immediately showering her with praise. “That’s amazing. You’re so disciplined, no wonder your stamina is so good.”
Song Qingyi’s eyes darkened slightly at her words. “Mhm.”
Chu Ling belatedly realized that this topic might not be the best for them to discuss, the atmosphere had somehow taken a strange turn.
So she quickly picked up her camera, pretending to scout for good scenery. Though they were only halfway up the mountain, the view still had its own charm, and she was ready to capture it at any moment.
Song Qingyi watched her feigned busyness without calling her out, her eyes brimming with tenderness.
By now, the sun had begun to set, and a gentle breeze swept across the mountain. It wasn’t strong just enough to bring Chu Ling a sense of comfort. If she had to describe it, even the wind felt tender.
What had started as an act gradually became genuine as Chu Ling immersed herself in the moment. Bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun, she seized the opportunity to snap several beautiful shots.
Only when she felt satisfied did she finally lower her camera. Turning to call Song Qingyi to continue upward, she froze the moment she saw her.
Before she even realized it, Chu Ling had already raised her camera again on instinct.
In the frame, Song Qingyi’s long hair was gently brushed by the breeze, and she happened to look in her direction.
Perhaps heaven favors beauty, for even the wind seemed to dote on her, making every swaying strand of her hair breathtakingly lovely.
As Chu Ling turned her head, a beam of sunset light fell upon her face.
Like an angel descending to earth, she was dazzlingly radiant.
Chu Ling instinctively held her breath, her fingers moving lightly, capturing proof that an angel had once graced the world.
