After Transmigrating, I Fell in Love with a Top-Tier Movie Queen - Chapter 24
The crew in the studio continued to work, not reacting at all to Yu Zechun’s words.
Yu Zechun didn’t think he had said anything shocking. He calmly looked at the two of them and then turned back to the footage on the camera.
Then, he added with a regretful look, “The atmosphere was so good at the time. I waited for so long…” They were so close; why didn’t they kiss?
Lin Xin was considered one of the most beautiful women in the top tier of the entertainment industry. Could Ye Linghua really have held back? He looked at Ye Linghua with doubt. Was this person capable of it?
Ye Linghua was speechless.
Although she didn’t understand the director’s gaze, Ye Linghua felt that it wasn’t right. So, she was silently and somewhat inexplicably ashamed.
Lin Xin was a little embarrassed by what he said, but she knew the director was just joking. After all, the script she had received didn’t include a kiss scene.
Director Yu’s intention was that the song’s focus was on finding hope in despair. The lover was just an important person who passed through life, and a small detail was enough to show that.
Adding a kiss would be overkill. It would add a layer of sensuality to an otherwise beautiful and peaceful scene, lowering its quality.
So, she gave Yu Zechun a light glare, hoping he would know when to stop.
Yu Zechun paused at her look, let out a laugh, but still bravely asked, “How about… you add that kiss?” A person’s inspiration is indeed a magical emotion that can come at any time. At this moment, he felt that a kiss would make the scene even more poetic.
Lin Xin’s face flushed at this. She looked away, pretending to be calm. “We’ve been filming all morning. Are we going to spend another afternoon on this scene?”
Ye Linghua, who felt ashamed because of her poor acting skills, was even more embarrassed. “Sigh, it’s all because I’m not capable.” She couldn’t cook, couldn’t do housework, and couldn’t even act.
Since she had started working with Lin Xin, Ye Linghua realized how useless she was.
Yu Zechun almost followed up with: “Yes! If you were capable, you would have just kissed her.”
Lin Xin was stunned by Ye Linghua’s self-deprecating comment. She explained, “…I wasn’t talking about you.” She then remembered what she had said and realized it could be misinterpreted. She quickly added, “You’re not a professional actor, and Director Yu’s standards are very strict. The problem isn’t with you.”
Then, as if asking for his opinion, she looked at Yu Zechun. “Right?”
Yu Zechun said, “…Are you saying the problem is with me?”
Ye Linghua said, “…That’s not what she meant.” Although she knew the problem was with her, Lin Xin’s words had been a great comfort.
Yu Zechun didn’t insist and just laughed. “You’re right. If you don’t want to shoot it, then don’t. A spontaneous and heartfelt moment like that can’t be replicated.”
A scene like that might be possible for a professional actor to recreate, but for an amateur like Ye Linghua, who had no idea about acting, it would be too difficult to recreate.
Although he had decided not to reshoot, Yu Zechun still felt a sense of regret. “That kind of scene is really hard to replicate!” He said, and he sadly gave up the idea of reshooting.
Then he said to Lin Xin, “This scene is a wrap. Go ahead and shoot some more scenes. The rest we can film after lunch!”
Lin Xin nodded and went back to her original position.
Ye Linghua watched from behind Yu Zechun. On the camera, Lin Xin could easily convey emotion and give Yu Zechun the exact effect he wanted.
This is what a professional actor does, right? Ye Linghua knew that she was a long way from being as professional as Lin Xin.
After lunch, Lin Xin shot many more scenes. Scenes of her being alone in the bedroom, eating alone, and receiving her diagnosis.
Ye Linghua didn’t have many more scenes to shoot. She might need to film a little more during the outdoor shoot later on.
Most of the indoor scenes were shot, and it looked like the day’s work was about to end.
Meng Kelin was preparing to leave since she had many artists under her and couldn’t be with Lin Xin all the time.
So, before she left, she told Ye Linghua, “I have a situation with another artist, so I’m going to handle it. I’m leaving things here in your hands. Actually, work is almost done for today, so just keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn’t do anything too crazy.”
Ye Linghua nodded. She didn’t think Lin Xin was unreasonable. She didn’t know if it was because of her divorce, but ever since Ye Linghua had met Lin Xin, Lin Xin had always been very understanding.
After all, who would want an assistant like her? But Lin Xin did.
When Ye Linghua first came, she didn’t expect to get close to her so smoothly. Even with all the planning and even with approaching her mother first, Lin Xin still took in someone who couldn’t do anything.
In Ye Linghua’s eyes, Lin Xin was a very kind person.
After seeing Meng Kelin off, Ye Linghua returned to the studio and saw Zhu Fang walking towards her with a worried look on her face.
Ye Linghua asked strangely, “What’s wrong? Where are you going?”
Zhu Fang said, “Sister Xin wants to drink some mineral water, so I’m going to buy some for her.”
Ye Linghua frowned. “I remember Li prepared some!” No matter what the job was, the crew would always prepare these things. Before the shoot, the staff would come here, decide on the location, and also look around to arrange for lunch. They would notify the crew to come in only after everything was ready.
Essential items like mineral water would not be forgotten.
“Sister Xin only likes to drink Nongqi,” Zhu Fang sighed. “The crew prepared a different brand of mineral water this time, so I was going to go out and buy some. But it’s getting harder and harder to find stores that sell Nongqi.”
Ye Linghua looked at the small table next to Lin Xin. There was an open, half-empty bottle of mineral water.
The crew had prepared a different brand, but few crews prepared Nongqi anymore. Although it was an old brand, in today’s competitive market, Nongqi had long been phased out. It had survived this long because of people’s nostalgia.
“Why does she like Nongqi?” Ye Linghua didn’t understand. Most mineral water didn’t taste very different. Was there something special about Nongqi?
Zhu Fang shook her head. “I don’t know. I’ve only been with Sister Xin for a few years. When I started, Sister Meng told me that Sister Xin liked to drink Nongqi mineral water. She told me to always have some on hand because you never know when Sister Xin might want some.”
Ye Linghua nodded, took the car keys from her hand, and said, “I’ll go.”
Zhu Fang was happy to agree. She didn’t want to go out just to get a bottle of mineral water.
After Ye Linghua left, Zhu Fang went back and told Lin Xin.
Lin Xin frowned. “Why did you let her go?”
Zhu Fang looked innocent. “She said she wanted to.”
Lin Xin couldn’t say anything bad. After thinking about it, she didn’t think there was anything wrong with it. Ye Linghua was, after all, a personal assistant. She hadn’t officially been a part of the job because she had brought in sponsorships and was also involved in acting.
But even now, was it appropriate to have someone who had brought in so many sponsorships do this kind of work?
After all, Ye Linghua didn’t just bring in tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars in sponsorships. She had brought in millions at once.
Of course, this money wasn’t just for the song. A lot of it was for her comeback preparations.
The expenses were not small, so Meng Kelin had indeed given a high price. At first, she was prepared for the price to be cut in half.
But she didn’t expect Ye Linghua’s friend to be so easy to work with. They agreed on the spot and transferred the money to the bank not long after.
It was so generous it was as if they were just playing in the entertainment industry.
And because Ye Linghua was so instrumental in getting so much sponsorship, Meng Kelin said she could treat her like a queen. Was it too much to ask such a great contributor to go buy water?
Lin Xin said calmly, “Don’t ask her to do things in the future.” She didn’t feel there was anything wrong with her request.
Zhu Fang also knew that Ye Linghua had brought in sponsorships and naturally didn’t think she could compare herself to her. In fact, she didn’t think Ye Linghua was an ordinary person. As someone who had read a lot of novels, she deeply felt that Ye Linghua was a rich second-generation heir who was just here to experience life.
But she only thought these things to herself and didn’t dare to spread them around. After hearing Lin Xin’s instructions, she quickly agreed, wishing she hadn’t been so lazy.
It wasn’t until the crew was almost ready to pack up that Ye Linghua came back with a bag of water. The evening sun shone through the windows, casting a red glow over the entire studio and a long shadow behind her.
Through the white plastic bag in Ye Linghua’s hand, several bottles of mineral water could be seen. Ye Linghua handed the keys to Zhu Fang, who had come up to meet her, and smiled as she walked towards Lin Xin.
The gentle smile on her face reminded Lin Xin of the way Ye Linghua had looked at her during the morning shoot when she had bent down to look at her.
It was as if the night sky was filled with a thousand stars, twinkling with a piercing emotion. An emotion she couldn’t understand was hidden in her eyes, but the person being looked at still felt her heart flutter.
In that moment, a voice in her heart told her she could take another step forward.
As she was lost in her thoughts, Ye Linghua had already walked in front of her and placed the plastic bag on the small table next to her.
Then she took a bottle of water from the bag, twisted the cap open, and handed it to Lin Xin.
After taking it, Lin Xin asked in a muffled voice, “What were you doing out there? You should have just let Zhu Fang go.”
Ye Linghua didn’t look up and just casually said, “Nongqi is hard to find! I was afraid the girl would walk around and not be able to find it.”
Lin Xin’s heart fluttered. She looked up at Ye Linghua.
Ye Linghua didn’t seem to notice her gaze. She sat down next to Lin Xin, opened a bottle of Nongqi mineral water for herself, and asked her, “In the future, will you still like other mineral water?” As she spoke, she took a sip. Indeed, she couldn’t taste much of a difference from other mineral waters.
Lin Xin paused, not understanding. “Why do you say that?”
Ye Linghua looked at Nongqi’s old-fashioned packaging and said helplessly, “This factory is about to close down. When it disappears from the market, I might drive around all day and still not be able to find a single bottle for you.”
Lin Xin’s face turned red. “I’m not that picky…” She paused, feeling that her request for a specific brand of mineral water from Zhu Fang was a little demanding.
She instinctively didn’t want Ye Linghua to see her that way, so she said, “I don’t have to drink it; I just… sometimes feel like drinking it.”
Ye Linghua studied the bottle in her hand and nodded. “So, as long as you want to drink it and as long as it’s still on the market, I’ll buy it for you.”
Lin Xin’s face turned even redder. She wanted to remind her not to make such ambiguous promises.
But, even though she knew it, she was still happy because of Ye Linghua’s words. She felt a sweet sensation in her heart. Lin Xin knew that her crush on Ye Linghua was indeed starting to turn into love.
It turned out she wasn’t as devoted as she thought she was. But then again, she had already felt a little heartbroken about Zheng Lanwen after five years.
Otherwise, why would she have calmly signed the divorce papers when Zheng Lanwen had asked for a divorce?
She looked back at Ye Linghua, only to see her gaze still on the bottle of mineral water, as if she were studying something. Lin Xin felt disappointed, realizing that she had just said it casually.
Lin Xin said boldly, “It won’t close down. When I have money, I’ll buy that factory. That way, I can drink it whenever I want.”
Ye Linghua finally put down the bottle and looked up at her, a little speechless. “…It’s good to have goals.”
Spurred on by that look, Lin Xin immediately clenched her fists and said, “Don’t think I’m joking! Although it’s difficult, I’ll try my best.”
Ye Linghua couldn’t help but laugh. “Buying a factory isn’t cheap.”
Lin Xin continued to clench her fists. “I’ll still try my best.”
She picked up the bottle of water next to her and drank half of it in one gulp. Then she said, “How can such a delicious mineral water just disappear from the market?” She turned to Ye Linghua for confirmation. “Right?”
But Ye Linghua didn’t answer. She was staring at the bottle in Lin Xin’s hand, her eyes dark and unreadable.
Lin Xin was startled by the gaze. Her hand tightened on the bottle, her knuckles turning white. She nervously asked, “What’s wrong?”
Ye Linghua then looked up at her and said, “It’s nothing big. It’s just that bottle…” She pointed at the mineral water in Lin Xin’s hand and said softly, “It’s mine.”
Lin Xin’s mind went blank. A blush spread from her feet to her face. She looked like a cooked shrimp, completely red.
This strange sight startled Ye Linghua, and she couldn’t help but ask, “Did you… have you never kissed anyone before?”
Lin Xin’s face turned an even deeper red, turning her into a well-cooked shrimp.
Ye Linghua could almost see smoke coming from her head. She quickly tried to soothe her. “I only drank two sips. If you mind…” She thought for a long time, realizing that since she had already drunk from it, there was no solution. Then, on a whim, she picked up Lin Xin’s bottle and said, “I’ll drink yours and give it back to you.”
Lin Xin was speechless.
Ye Linghua was also speechless.
Yu Zechun’s faint voice echoed in their silence. “You make an indirect kiss so complicated. Can’t you just kiss for real?”
Lin Xin was speechless.
Ye Linghua was speechless.
