- Chapter 6 - Back in Bed, Back to 8:00
Yuanshan Apartments
Thanks to the apartment’s top-tier soundproofing, Jiang Mingyue slept exceptionally deeply. It wasn’t until the bright sunlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, casting a warm glow on her eyelids, that she slowly woke up.
She grabbed her phone: 8:00 AM.
A day without an 8:00 AM class was lazy and pleasant.
She got up unhurriedly and walked to the living room. She switched on the water dispenser’s heater, took a beautiful glass from the cabinet, and placed it under the outlet to preheat.
Only after doing this did she wander slowly to the bathroom to wash up. When she finished, she returned to the living room and walked to the dining table.
There, she saw a sticky note lying quietly.
8:00 AM class, leaving first. Lu Lingzhi
The corner of Jiang Mingyue’s mouth curved almost imperceptibly as she set the note aside. Habitually, she picked up her phone to check her schedule: Periods 3 and 4, PE (Tennis).
She reached out to take the preheated glass. Just as her fingertips touched the warm surface.
“Bang!”
A crisp, piercing explosion sounded without warning.
Jiang Mingyue looked down, the glass had shattered at her feet, spreading a mess across the polished floor. However, amidst that mess and the sudden sting..

That cold, familiar sound of gears locking exploded deep in her mind.
“Swoosh!”
Her entire body fell backward uncontrollably. Before her eyes was the familiar ceiling light beneath her was the soft, comfortable mattress, with the warm blanket pulled up to her chest. The angle of the sunlight through the curtains was exactly the same as when she had first woken up.
It was very polite this time.
She was back in bed, back to the moment she woke up at 8:00 AM.
“…Again?!” Jiang Mingyue clenched her fists. She was about to grab her pillow and throw it at the air, terrified that the damn cycle would repeat again, she remembered being stuck ten times before.
She suddenly pulled the blanket over her head, burying herself completely, leaving only a few strands of black hair scattered on the pillow.
A muffled voice came from under the covers, carrying a sense of “breaking the pot” resignation that was almost funny: “…Fine! You’re cruel enough! You just don’t want me to eat breakfast, right? Fine, I’ll just sleep then!”
With that, she adjusted her posture and buried herself deeper, as if trying to shut out the world and its malicious loops.
Jiang Mingyue actually fell asleep for another hour.
When her second alarm rang, she finally woke up properly. She didn’t get up immediately. She stayed lying there, staring blankly at the ceiling light as if confirming something. The room was silent, save for the faint hum of the air conditioner.
This time, the sunlight through the curtains was much brighter and more piercing than an hour ago.
“…It should be… okay now?” Jiang Mingyue asked herself inwardly with uncertainty. This back-and-forth tossing… the cycle had to be over, right?
She walked to the window and pulled open the heavy blackout curtains with a “shua.”
Stabbing sunlight flooded in, illuminating the room. She walked to the living room. The glass that had shattered was standing perfectly intact in the cabinet, reflecting a crystalline glow.
She took the glass and drank some hot water to calm her nerves. She stared at the cup for a long time before her tense nerves finally relaxed.
If… a cold thought emerged uncontrollably, laced with gritted teeth resentment, if anyone makes me walk all the way to school and then “swooshes” me back to this bed…
I will actually have a breakdown.
The more she thought about it, the more her appetite vanished. She washed up briefly, changed into her sportswear, grabbed her tennis racket, and headed toward school.
The autumn sun still carried a scorching heat, making the plastic ground slightly hot. Just as Jiang Mingyue reached the edge of the sports field, she heard a familiar voice nearby.
“Junior Jiang!” Jian Cheng ran over, waving enthusiastically with a sun-drenched smile that could melt ice. “Wait for me to finish my 1000 meters, I have something to tell you!”
Jiang Mingyue didn’t stop, only nodding politely as a response. For some reason, that smile carried a lingering shadow of the bar loop, making her instinctively want to stay away.
She hurried toward the tennis court, where Su Xi was already waiting.
“Mingyue, over here!” Su Xi waved her racket. After a brief warm-up, the two began rallying.
Jiang Mingyue cast aside all distractions and focused on the ball. Her swings were fluid and powerful, her white tennis skirt tracing sharp arcs as she moved.
Sweat soon dampened her bangs and trickled down her fair neck. The tulip pheromones of an Omega steamed slightly in the heat of exercise, mixing with the sun and sweat into a unique, vibrant scent, a beauty that combined Omega softness with the vigorous vitality of sport.
During a break, Su Xi handed over a bottle of cold mineral water. Jiang Mingyue twisted the cap and gulped down a few mouthfuls, the ice water sliding down her throat and temporarily dispelling the heat.
Wiping her sweat with a towel, Su Xi leaned in, her “gossip fire” burning bright: “Where did you go last night? You weren’t there for the dorm check.”
Jiang Mingyue paused. “I stayed outside with a friend.”
“Oh, that friend of yours is indeed very good-looking. Pity she’s an Omega. The way she showed up yesterday was so cool; if she were an Alpha, I’d definitely chase her.” Su Xi fangirled for a moment. “You didn’t tell me she was the newly elected campus belle of Peking University, Lu Lingzhi. Radiant and lively, I love her. Did you guys agree to come to the same city for college?”
Jiang Mingyue’s gaze darkened. “We haven’t been in touch for a long time.”
Su Xi didn’t believe that for a second. Haven’t been in touch? Look at Lu Lingzhi’s lines: “She has to stay with me,” “Mingyue, let’s go,” “I know Mingyue’s nickname.”
“Mingyue, your behavior last night didn’t look like people who haven’t been in touch. It looked more like a couple having a fight, and she came to get you back.”
Jiang Mingyue: “No.”
No?
Lu Lingzhi’s speech yesterday was a clear declaration of sovereignty.
Looks like she didn’t win her over last night.
Mingyue says they haven’t been in touch.
But the moment Lu Lingzhi appeared, Mingyue’s eyes were glued to her.
Su Xi glanced toward the track field. “So… if her thing didn’t happen last night, would you have said yes to Senior Jian?”
Jiang Mingyue shook her head.
“Oh.” Su Xi frowned with genuine concern. “But you just joined the Student Union and he’s the President. If you reject him, will he… give you a hard time? What if he intentionally targets you at work later?”
Just then, a tall figure carrying the heat of exercise and a strong Alpha pheromone suddenly ran over from the track, heading straight for the tennis court.
It was Jian Cheng.
He wore a bright, sunny smile, as if all the unpleasantness of last night had never happened. Waving as he ran, he shouted loudly: “Junior Jiang, Junior Su, what a coincidence!”
Jiang Mingyue’s hand tightened around the water bottle, the cold plastic digging into her palm. Watching the approaching figure, the peace she had just found vanished instantly.
Jian Cheng had clearly just finished his run, his hair was wet with sweat, his face flushed, and he held an unopened sports drink. He had reflected last night and decided he had been too rushed; he would now adopt the “slow-boil” strategy.
“Um… are you free at noon? I know a new private kitchen outside the school. I’d like to take you to lunch? Consider it… an apology for my rudeness last night?”

“Cough! Cough cough cough!” Jiang Mingyue was suddenly choked by the water she was drinking, bending over in a violent coughing fit as physiological tears filled her eyes.
“Mingyue, are you okay?” Su Xi was startled and hurried to pat her back. Between coughs, Jiang Mingyue lifted her red, watery eyes. Having been pulled back into the loop again, her fists were tight.
Good, very good!
Which psychopath is acting up again? Twice in one day.
A regression back to the moment she was drinking water, and she even got choked.
Being sent back to this specific point was pure petty revenge. The “system” must be retaliating because she called it a psychopath.
A surge of anger rushed to Jiang Mingyue’s head. She stood up abruptly and looked around, seeing Jian Cheng instantly teleported back to the starting line of the track.
Jian Cheng’s classmate laughed and patted his shoulder, pointing toward the tennis court: “Jian Cheng, look! Isn’t Junior Jiang looking at you? Is she searching for you?”
Hearing this, Jian Cheng’s eyes erupted with a startling light, more excited and eager than the previous time.
Really? Where?
Jian Cheng looked deeply at Jiang Mingyue, he was determined to win her over.
After the 1000 meters, Jian Cheng ran up to Jiang Mingyue. “Um… are you free at noon? I know a new private kitchen… an apology for last night?”

Jiang Mingyue and Su Xi were walking off the court. It seemed they had been reset even further back, a few minutes earlier than the last time.
Su Xi habitually handed over the cold mineral water. Remembering the choking from the last loop, and feeling weak from skipping breakfast, Jiang Mingyue shook her head.
Seeing her looking unwell, Su Xi helped her sit down.
Jian Cheng’s figure appeared once more, with that copy-pasted enthusiastic smile and the same lunch invitation she had heard multiple times: “Junior Jiang! Um… are you free at noon…”
Jiang Mingyue handed her water bottle to him. “You drink some water and catch your breath first.”
Jian Cheng froze, seemingly not expecting Jiang Mingyue to care for him. A flattered smile broke across his face: “Okay, I’ll listen to you.”
He immediately twisted open his own unopened sports drink and gulped down several mouthfuls.

Jian Cheng was instantly sent back to the track, while Jiang Mingyue and Su Xi were back to walking off the court. Because she hadn’t eaten breakfast and was being yanked through loops, Jiang Mingyue simply fainted.
“Mingyue!!!” Su Xi’s terrified scream pierced through the noise of the sports field.
