While she was lost in thought, Ling Luo’s phone rang with a call from Lin Zhouci.

“President Lin, I am in the restroom touching up my makeup,” Ling Luo said as she answered the call.

Lin Zhouci’s voice, which was cold yet slightly gentle, came through the line. “It is almost time to leave.”

“I understand. I will be back as soon as possible.” Ling Luo paused for a moment before asking cautiously, “President Lin, did you see the head of the Di Group?”

“I saw him.”

“I will head to the parking lot shortly. President Lin, since you have been drinking, please go outside for some fresh air. I will pull the car around to pick you up.”

“Alright.”

On the other end, Lin Zhouci hung up the phone. He looked toward Di Yu, who was surrounded by a crowd like stars orbiting the moon. This man possessed a noble status and had easily obtained everything Lin Zhouci was working so hard to achieve.

A few powerful figures who had looked down on Lin Zhouci earlier, intentionally making things difficult before agreeing to cooperate, were now all smiles and flattery in front of Di Yu. Lin Zhouci considered approaching Di Yu to strike up a conversation. If successful, he could establish a powerful connection; if not, he risked being humiliated. “President Lin! Get in!”

Lin Zhouci opened the back door and handed her his phone. “This is my home address. Please take me home, Assistant Ling.”

“Of course!” Ling Luo set the phone down and followed the navigation to his residence.

In the distance, Di Yu thought he heard Ling Luo’s voice. He scanned the surroundings but found no sign of her. An Alphard pulled up in front of him, and Di Yu entered the vehicle. He leaned his chin on his hand and opened his phone to send a message to Ling Luo.

【I miss you so much that I am starting to hallucinate. I thought I heard your voice. It has been four days. Do you miss me?】

There was no immediate reply. It seemed he really had been hearing things. Ling Luo was preparing for her postgraduate entrance exams, so she should be at home studying, or perhaps finishing her studies to shower and eat.

Di Yu wanted to go to her, but her voice echoed in his mind. She had told him that she needed to focus on her exams and that he could not distract her. She promised she would reach out to him when she missed him. He decided he would just go steal a secret glance, thinking it would be fine.

Ling Luo dropped Lin Zhouci off at his home.

He said, “Take my car back with you. You can drive it to the office tomorrow.”

Ling Luo waved cheerfully. “Alright! Get some rest, President Lin!”

Lin Zhouci nodded in her direction and only lowered his hand after she turned the car around.

When Ling Luo arrived back at her apartment complex, she parked the car and hummed a happy tune as she stepped out, spinning the car key on her index finger.

“System, hurry up and enable a notification sound for the affection level! If there is no sound, at least give me a display monitor.”

【Hold on. I am currently applying for it. At the latest, you should be able to see the male lead’s affection level by tomorrow afternoon.】

“Do you think he likes me a little bit now?”

【Probably.】

“The female lead has not appeared as a client yet, so I must hurry.”

The female lead had pursued the male lead relentlessly in high school, and the two clearly shared mutual feelings. “What?!” Ling Luo looked terrified and scrambled into the elevator.

This was bad. Di Yu must have seen her at the banquet and come specifically to her parking lot to catch her. Once she was back upstairs, she quickly took a shower and sent a selfie to Di Yu.

Inside the Alphard in the parking lot, the man sat motionless. He was as rigid as a statue, radiating a cold aura. The driver in the front seat shivered from the chill. His master clearly missed Miss Ling but refused to go up. Instead, he sat there like a neglected consort, filled with resentment and self-pity.

“Master,” the driver began hesitantly.

A notification sounded from the master’s phone. The driver immediately fell silent, waiting for him to reply. Di Yu picked up his phone, and his dark eyes instantly lit up. Through the mirror, the driver saw his master’s face, which had been as grim as a demon’s, now sporting a smile as warm as a spring breeze.

The driver thought to himself that it was truly unbelievable.

“Go back,” Di Yu said, his voice devoid of any previous turbulence.

“Yes, Master.” The driver immediately turned the car around.

Di Yu looked down at his phone.

Luo Luo: 【I am sorry. I did not mean to ignore your message.】

Luo Luo: 【I just went to a bar to pick up some friends. They were all drunk, so I took them home. My car ran out of gas, so I borrowed theirs to get home. Thank goodness they had a car, or I would never have found a taxi this late!】

Luo Luo: 【I just finished my shower.】

She had sent a photo taken after her shower. Two thin straps hung over her shoulders, and her wet black hair clung to her skin. The contrast made her skin look even whiter. Her round, innocent eyes were misty from the heat, and the corners of her eyes were flushed pink. She looked bright and vivid, her beautiful face possessing a deceptive charm.

Di Yu felt a surge of heat in his throat as he remembered the madness of that night. Although she had been the one to flirt intentionally at first, he was the one who had acted recklessly under the guise of intoxication later on. Every inch of her was enchanting and impossible to forget.

Despite everything they had done together, they had entered a strange new phase of interaction. Di Yu wanted to see her immediately to hold her tightly and kiss her forehead, eyes, nose, cheeks, and lips. However, he had to restrain himself. He needed her to contact him of her own accord. Otherwise, she would feel he had no sense of boundaries. If she grew to loathe him, she would bring up breaking up again.

If she failed her exams, it would not matter. She could simply be his wife. After Di Yu returned home, he changed into his most provocative clothing. He took a photo and sent it to Ling Luo. It was not for any other reason; it was pure seduction.

Who would have thought that a man who appeared so cold and abstinent in public could be so flirtatious in private?
