- After the Strategy Mission Was Exposed, the Childhood Friend Became a Sinister Male Ghost
- Chapter 1 - Targeting the Wrong Person and Getting Cornered
Ling Luo successfully slept with her conquest target. After a long absence, her system reappeared and let out a sharp, piercing shriek.
【Ling Luo, you targeted the wrong person! This is the villain!】
【The one we are supposed to conquer is the male lead!】
“What?”
Ling Luo’s mind went completely blank.
“Why is he the villain? The affection meter above his head showed 100! Isn’t that a prompt only the male lead has?”
【Just as I was about to give you the mission, I was attacked by an unknown mysterious force. By the time I regained consciousness, it was already too late, and I found you sleeping with the villain!】 The system was even more frantic than she was.
“I should run. System, quick, tell me, where is the male lead?”
Ling Luo’s brain was a mess of confusion.
The system spoke at lightning speed. 【The male lead is currently in the early stages of starting his business. If you go now to offer him warmth and concern, he will be very easy to conquer!】
“Right, right, right!”
Ling Luo stole a cautious glance at the man beside her. She swallowed nervously and quietly moved his large hand away from her waist. She stepped lightly out of bed, picked up her clothes from the floor, and headed for the door.
As Ling Luo slowly closed the door, it still made a faint clicking sound. Suddenly, a chill ran down her spine, giving her the illusion that she was being watched by a mysterious power.
Ling Luo ran downstairs in a panic. The servants below greeted her, “Good morning, Miss Ling.”
“Wait, what?” Ling Luo froze for a moment.
She wondered why she was at Di Yu’s house when she had been at a banquet the night before. Without stopping to rest, Ling Luo rushed back to her own home.
On the bed, the man regained consciousness. He instinctively reached for the side of the bed, but he found nothing. Di Yu sat up abruptly and looked at the spot next to him. The woman was long gone.
“Luo Luo,” he murmured in a low, lingering tone.
Di Yu threw back the covers and got out of bed. He had a tall, slender build with perfect proportions, featuring broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and long legs. His pale skin was marked with several fresh scratch marks on his back, which served as evidence of the previous night’s madness.
Emerging from the bathroom, he changed into a black suit and leisurely tied his necktie while staring at his reflection in the mirror. His looks were impeccable, with deep features comparable to a digital model. Beneath his high brow bone, his deep dark eyes were as gloomy and cold as a frozen pond, hiding an endless chill.
Di Yu picked up his phone and saw messages from Ling Luo.
Luo Luo: 【Your technique is too poor! Let’s break up!】
Luo Luo: 【We are not a good match. Let’s end it here. Goodbye.】
Di Yu furrowed his brows, showing his displeasure. He quickly typed a sentence and sent it: 【Where are you? I am coming to find you.】
The next second, a red exclamation mark appeared. Di Yu remained silent for three seconds. He glanced at the left pillow on the bed, reached out his slender fingers, and picked up a long black strand of hair. He wound the hair around his finger three times, and his thin lips curled into a pleasant arc.
In this life, he would be like a snake, coiling around her tightly and never letting her go.
Ling Luo submitted her resume to Xincheng Technology. Under the system’s manipulation, she successfully received an interview notice.
It was only through the system that she finally understood the current situation. When the system first found her, it had not finished explaining the mission before being knocked offline by a mysterious force. It had remained dormant for a year before recovering.
Di Yu was the primary villain in the original story. He played the antagonist in the male lead’s career, making things difficult for him at every turn. After the male lead went bankrupt, he would make a comeback to become the new tech royalty of Beijing, defeating the villain and achieving success in both love and career.
In the original story, Ling Luo was merely a minor character. Her family was originally prominent in Beijing, but while she was attending high school abroad, they went bankrupt. They kept it a secret from her until they could no longer provide any financial support. When she returned to China, she worked as a waitress to earn money for school.
A group of wealthy heirs once went to her restaurant and intentionally bullied her. The male lead stepped in to help, but both were subsequently fired for offending the rich. While Ling Luo lost her job, her mother needed surgery. On the way to the hospital to sign the papers, Ling Luo died in a car accident. She was just an insignificant figure in the male lead’s life.
Di Yu was her rival, and they had fought since they were children. Although she was the one who usually picked on him, he never fought back. This interaction unknowingly helped the once-autistic child become more outgoing. In the original story, she left for high school abroad right after middle school, so their connection should have ended there.
Five years ago, the system approached her and explained her tragic fate. However, the system glitched and issued a mission to conquer Di Yu. She had always believed Di Yu was the male lead. Using their past friendship, she used the “childhood sweetheart” angle to woo him.
No matter how she tried to conquer him, Di Yu remained unmoved. After asking around, she learned he had a “White Moonlight” hidden in his heart. Gathering information from others, she pretended to be understanding and gentle. She put in a massive effort to seduce him, finally raising his affection level to 100. Though she had gained a lot of money in the process, he was not the male lead.
Ling Luo prepared for her interview the next day. She applied for the position of Executive Assistant so she could stay close to the male lead. If she succeeded, she would receive ten billion yuan and a cure for her mother’s terminal illness.
Ling Luo hummed a happy tune as she walked toward the elevator. The numbers above the elevator door flickered from one to seven. The doors slowly slid open, and the tall figure inside became clear.
Ling Luo’s pupils contracted, and her heart leaped into her throat. A tall, imposing figure stepped out. With one long stride, he was right in front of her. He leaned down considerately to meet her eyes. A sharp, cold aura rushed toward her, and the powerful pressure was terrifying.
The man had high brow bones and deep eyes that looked like an abyss. One look could make a person lose the ability to think. Ling Luo pinched her leg, and only when her brain registered the pain did she snap out of her trance.
She forced herself to calm down, though her voice still stuttered, “Move aside. I need to go down.”
Di Yu’s thin lips curled into a smirk. “Going where?”
“We have already broken up. We need to maintain boundaries. Asking so many private questions is classless,” Ling Luo said, her voice growing quieter.
As he approached her step by step, she retreated in fear. Her back pressed tightly against the wall with no way out. She reached out to push him away and glared at him angrily. “Get lost!”
When his hand reached toward her, Ling Luo closed her eyes in a panic. She feared she would be beaten for being a heartbreaker or that he would settle the old debts from when she bullied him as a child.
Di Yu propped his hand against the wall behind her. Looking down at her, he could not help but chuckle. The woman was trembling, and her delicate face had turned pale. Her long eyelashes fluttered rapidly. When no pain came, Ling Luo fearfully opened her eyes to peek at his reaction.
