- Chapter 65 - Waiting for Yu Wenxi’s “Torment”
After settling all the arrangements, Yan Run suddenly opened their two marriage certificates.
She found that, back when she had lost her memory, the photo of her and Yu Wenxi showed her brow tightly furrowed—as if she were being forced—while Yu Wenxi looked refined and gentle, her whole expression bathed in warmth, like someone happily getting her certificate with the person she loved.
The sight left Yan Run distinctly displeased.
Yu Wenxi came out of the bathroom, towel-drying her hair, and caught sight of Yan Run staring at the certificate. She smiled.
“What are you looking at?”
Yan Run blurted, “Hey… can marriage certificates be reissued?”
Yu Wenxi: “???”
Yan Run pouted, her tone aggrieved. “I don’t think I looked good in the photo. I want to retake it.”
Yu Wenxi walked over, took a look, and indeed, Yan Run’s expression was stiff. But she had never minded.
“It’s not like we look at it every day. It doesn’t matter.”
Yan Run still wasn’t satisfied. “But it bothers me. I want everyone to know I’m madly in love with Yu Wenxi.”
Yu Wenxi chuckled. “No one else is going to see the marriage certificate.”
“Shame we can’t just take a new one.”
Yan Run blinked. “What if I destroy this one? Then we could get another made, right?”
Yu Wenxi let out a helpless laugh, sat down beside her, looped her arm through Yan Run’s, and soothed her softly.
“Silly. A marriage certificate is just proof that we’re legally married. Our love was never something that needed anything to prove it. A photograph isn’t proof that you don’t love me.”
Saying that, she leaned in and kissed Yan Run, her gaze soft as water, brimming with light and affection.
Yan Run’s heart gave a little twitch. She suddenly hugged Yu Wenxi close, inhaling the jasmine-tea scent clinging to her hair.
“Wife. My wife~ I love you…”
The silky, fragrant strands brushed over Yan Run’s skin like fragments of a dream, stirring her heart until she could hardly keep still.
Hearing the spoiled, coaxing tone, Yu Wenxi’s own heart began to itch. After all, it had been a while since they’d last done anything.
“Are you tired?” Yu Wenxi asked.
Yan Run looked up, puzzled.
Yu Wenxi’s cheeks flushed red. She took Yan Run’s hand and murmured, “You… can’t hold back anymore, can you?”
Yan Run lowered her head with a sigh. “Even if I can’t, I have to. After all… you’re carrying a baby. I’m worried…”
And of course, Yu Wenxi knew exactly what she was worried about.
Yu Wenxi laughed, lightly patting her cheek. “Other than me, who else could it be?”
Yan Run made a confused sound, not quite following, and watched Yu Wenxi climb into bed and pull the covers over herself. Still clueless, she could only ask in a muffled voice, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I mean,” Yu Wenxi said with a teasing gleam in her eyes, “Alphas are such a… needy gender. If you’re not doing that most of the time, then what are you even doing?”
Yu Wenxi’s look said she was waiting to see how Yan Run would answer.
Yan Run thought for a second. “Then… reading novels or watching dramas, I guess.”
Yu Wenxi let out an exasperated sigh. Was she being naïve or just playing dumb?
“I feel like there’s a generation gap between us.”
“What?!” Yan Run was startled, then carefully replayed Yu Wenxi’s words in her head—and finally caught on.
“I don’t do that kind of thing! I’m still pure,” she declared righteously.
Yu Wenxi’s laugh made it obvious she didn’t believe her.
Yan Run lay down beside her, linked their fingers together, and said, “You don’t believe me? Just because Alphas are supposed to be more… restless doesn’t mean all of us are. At least I’m not. I only love your scent.”
She bent down and pressed a kiss to Yu Wenxi’s slender neck, then couldn’t resist taking another soft sniff of her warm, intoxicating pheromones.
Yu Wenxi let out a quiet whimper. She had been controlling her pheromone release, yet somehow they still slipped out.
Blame it on this infuriatingly tempting little Alpha.
Yu Wenxi held Yan Run’s gaze for a long moment, then finally leaned in and kissed her hard.
It was a kiss that thrummed with feeling.
Yan Run loved it—her arms wrapped around Yu Wenxi’s waist as she caught her breath.
“Jiejie, I love it when you kiss me with that possessiveness. I want more.”
She licked the lingering sweetness from her lips, the faint jasmine taste making her crave another.
“You want more?” Yu Wenxi’s eyes turned languid, her long fingers lightly tilting Yan Run’s chin in a way that was both artful and enticing.
Yan Run hissed softly. She knew Yu Wenxi was teasing her on purpose, and it only made her want her more.
“Jiejie, don’t push me…” she groaned.
Yu Wenxi bent over her, lying across her body, her hands roaming in featherlight touches.
Her laugh was soft, her eyes almost dewy as she murmured, “I just realized your body is quite soft… all warm and plush.”
Yan Run’s face turned red. “As long as you know.”
Yu Wenxi leaned in close, her lips brushing the edge of Yan Run’s ear, and gave it a playful nip.
“Ah—” The sound slipped out before Yan Run could stop it.
It was far too embarrassing.
She’d mimicked Yu Wenxi’s tone to tease her before without feeling the slightest shame, but this voice—one she could never truly imitate—made her face burn.
“What a delicate little sound,” Yu Wenxi teased, laughter curling in her voice.
Yan Run groaned twice. “Don’t listen to that.”
Yu Wenxi clicked her tongue and grinned. “You can hear mine, but I can’t hear yours?”
Yan Run’s whole body went taut. She whimpered, “Jiejie, don’t touch me… it tickles.”
Yu Wenxi’s eyes glimmered. She whispered in a voice as smooth and dangerous as honeyed poison, “Little fool, will you listen to your jiejie?”
Yan Run felt her body grow hotter and hotter.
Except for that one time, back when she’d lost her memory, when Yu Wenxi had taken the initiative, she’d always been the one in control. This sudden reversal made her shy.
“Of course I’ll listen to you, but… I’m a little embarrassed,” she admitted, feeling ridiculous for letting her Omega “turn the tables” on her so easily.
“Embarrassed? You can feel embarrassed?” Yu Wenxi chuckled in disbelief, still smiling.
“Well, too bad… you can’t touch me, but I can touch you. Since you’re listening to me, you’d better let me enjoy myself.”
Yan Run swallowed. “Then… fine. But… can you be gentle?”
Yu Wenxi: “?”
Yan Run shut her eyes, waiting for Yu Wenxi’s “torment.”
But after a long while, nothing happened—just a single kiss.
Yan Run opened her eyes in frustration. “Why aren’t you moving?”
Yu Wenxi sighed. “I’m tired,” she said, even adding a lazy little exhale for effect.
Yan Run: “…”
Her anticipation was thoroughly doused by Yu Wenxi’s laziness.

The wedding took place on Love Island, a famous overseas wedding destination.
Only relatives from the Yu and Yan families and a few close friends attended.
Lin Chuyin, Yu Wenxi’s closest friend, was of course present to congratulate her—and to serve as a bridesmaid.
Qin Zishu was Yan Run’s other bridesmaid, something she wore like a badge of honor.
When she heard Yan Run was getting married, she wasn’t just happy—she was envious. Over drinks, she complained to an old friend that every girlfriend she found seemed to be after her money and looks.
Yan Run silently grumbled from the side, With how much you fool around, no wonder you can’t keep them.
By coincidence, another of Yu Wenxi’s friends attended the wedding as well. When Qin Zishu met her, it seemed to be love at first sight—she was already gearing up for a romantic pursuit.
Wei Qin, heavily pregnant, couldn’t fly, but she allowed Ji Zhiye to attend alone—on the condition that she video call her to show her everything.
Two days before the wedding, Ji Zhiye met Yan Run.
They shook hands politely, but with a spark of mutual respect in their eyes.
“This place is amazing,” Ji Zhiye said. “Once Qin has the baby, I’m bringing her here to get married too. You two better come—especially you.”
“Of course!” Yan Run grinned.
Yu Qingyue and Luo Wenting didn’t mind whether or not they had a wedding, but they were surprised at how suddenly it had been arranged. Seeing how unusually happy the two elders were only made them more curious, though no amount of asking got them any answers.
They did notice, however, that Yan Run was taking even more meticulous care of Yu Wenxi than before.
That night, over dinner with friends and relatives, Yu Qingyue couldn’t hold back.
“Why so sudden with the wedding?”
Yan Run said nothing. Yu Wenxi coughed twice. “Because I want to.”
Qin Zishu snorted. “Please. It’s obviously because she’s pregnant. You have to have the grand wedding before the baby’s born, right?”
The words made Yu Qingyue and Luo Wenting stare in shock.
Yan Run shot Qin Zishu a glare. And this is why I shouldn’t have told you.
“Xixi, you’re pregnant? Why didn’t you tell us?” Yu Qingyue and Luo Wenting’s expressions were complicated—Luo Wenting a mix of alarm and delight. “Honestly, you should’ve told me right away. What happened?”
Yu Wenxi, already irritated, glanced at Yan Run, who was about to answer. She cut in with a sigh.
“Yes, I am.”
Yu Qingyue’s eyes lit up, her lips curving uncontrollably. She stood and took Yu Wenxi’s hand, tears in her eyes. “This is huge news. Why wouldn’t you share it with us?”
Yu Wenxi gave a small, blaming huff. “You never cared about me when I was a child. Why would I share this with you?”
The two elders froze, exchanging a look heavy with regret.
Yan Run, listening, didn’t know what to say. She didn’t remember Yu Wenxi ever telling her she’d been neglected as a child—perhaps Yu Wenxi thought it wasn’t worth mentioning.
Still, as her wife, Yan Run felt she’d been remiss not to know about such a deep-seated wound.
Yu Qingyue sighed. “Xixi, it seems we have a lot to talk about.”
Yu Wenxi feigned a little temper. “Talk about what? Now that you know you have a granddaughter, you suddenly want to be doting grandparents?”
