- Chapter 64 - I’m Getting Married!
Lately, Yan Run had been finding Yu Wenxi a little… mysterious.
Sometimes, she wouldn’t even let her touch her.
At first, Yan Run thought her heat had come early—but when she counted the days, the timing didn’t match at all.
So, that night, she asked curiously,
“Jiejie, is something on your mind?”
Yu Wenxi shook her head.
Yan Run’s heart tightened. She clung to her arm and whimpered,
“Jiejie… do you think I’m not good enough? But you clearly said before that I was doing great. If I’m not, I can learn!”
Yu Wenxi was speechless.
“What are you even talking about?”
Yan Run’s cheeks flushed. She leaned in and whispered a few words into her ear.
Yu Wenxi’s face immediately turned red as well.
“That’s not what I meant!” she exclaimed.
Yan Run instantly looked smug.
“I knew I was amazing.”
Yu Wenxi: “……”
Still puzzled by her refusal to let her touch, Yan Run asked again,
“Are you feeling unwell?”
Yu Wenxi pursed her lips.
“In a few days, let’s head back to A City.”
Yan Run hesitated, reluctant.
“But we’ve only been here a month. If we go back so soon, my sister and Qin Zishu will definitely laugh at me. After all, I came here to study.”
Her tone turned pitiful, almost like wagging a tail.
Finally, Yu Wenxi decided to tell her the truth.
“I’m pregnant.”
Yan Run froze in place.
Yu Wenxi blinked at her, waving a hand in front of her eyes.
“What’s wrong? You don’t look very happy.”
“Jiejie, don’t scare me—are you really pregnant?” Yan Run asked, voice shaking. Then, her eyes lit up. “That’s amazing!”
In the next second, she jumped up in delight.
“I… I’m going to be a mother!”
She scooped Yu Wenxi into her arms, about to spin her around—but then remembered there was a baby in her belly, so she carefully set her down again, looking almost regretful.
Yu Wenxi could only sigh at her wild mood swings.
When Yan Run crouched down, trying to listen for the baby’s heartbeat, Yu Wenxi quickly pushed her away.
“It’s only been two months. The baby hasn’t even formed yet.”
Yan Run hurried to pull her to the sofa.
“How did you even find out?”
Yu Wenxi replied, “The last time I went to the hospital to see you, I kept feeling nauseous when I went to the bathroom, so I had myself checked as well.”
“Then why didn’t you tell me earlier?” Yan Run complained.
Yu Wenxi chuckled helplessly.
“I’ll tell you when I feel like telling you.”
Yan Run let out a pitiful whimper, clutching Yu Wenxi’s arm, gaze fixed on her belly.
Yu Wenxi’s voice softened as she stroked her still-flat abdomen.
“I want to go back early and tell Grandpa and Grandma. They’re getting older—it’s good for them to hear happy news.”
Yan Run nodded eagerly.
“But…” Yu Wenxi continued, “Once my belly gets bigger, I won’t be able to go to work. If I tell them now, they won’t let me go out at all.”
Yan Run looked surprised.
“They just don’t want you to strain yourself, that’s all.”
“I just don’t want to leave my work so soon,” Yu Wenxi said, shaking her head.
Yan Run frowned.
“But you came all the way to Burton City with me—how’s that any different?”
Yu Wenxi blinked at her.
“Coming with you was just… for those things.” Her voice dropped, and she gave Yan Run a reproachful shove. “It’s already been two months, and you still kept me busy for a whole month. If you harm the baby, I’m ignoring you forever.”
What?
Yan Run widened her eyes. Sure, they had been intimate often since arriving in Burton, but it wasn’t every day…
Well, never mind—wife’s always right.
She quickly switched to appeasement mode.
“Baby’s mama, I was wrong.”
Yu Wenxi glared.
“Not calling me ‘wife’ anymore, huh?”
Yan Run almost cried.
“Wife, I was wrong.”
“From now on, I’ll stay with you every day. Wherever you go, I’ll go.”
“Forget it. People online will just say you’re freeloading off me without even working.”
Yan Run didn’t care at all. She grinned.
“They also said I can’t have kids—look at us now, we’ve got one already.”
She even placed a happy hand over Yu Wenxi’s stomach.
Yu Wenxi froze.
Yan Run’s eyes widened.
“Wait… don’t tell me this baby—”
Before she could finish, Yu Wenxi shut her up with a deep, lingering kiss.
When they finally came up for air, Yu Wenxi murmured,
“Of course not. It’s yours.”
Yan Run’s smile bloomed as she leaned in again, this time kissing her gently—like a slow, warm breeze.

Back at the Yu residence, Yu Wenxi didn’t tell Yu Qingyue or Luo Wenting right away.
One night, she took Yan Run to visit He Yunzhi and Yu Huanzhu’s room.
The elderly couple looked a little surprised to see their granddaughter and granddaughter-in-law.
“What brings you two here?” He Yunzhi asked with a warm smile. Her health had been improving lately, and her spirits were brighter than ever.
Yu Wenxi stayed quiet for a moment, then glanced at Yan Run.
Yan Run smiled, clasping Yu Wenxi’s soft hand before announcing,
“Grandpa, Grandma—Wenxi’s pregnant!”
For a beat, both elders froze.
Then He Yunzhi’s expression lit up, and she quickly waved Yu Wenxi over.
“Come, Xixi, come to Grandma.”
As Wenxi walked over, she fussed in alarm.
“Careful, child.”
Yu Wenxi couldn’t help but laugh.
“Grandma, it’s still very early.”
Sitting beside her, He Yunzhi’s eyes turned slightly red. She had always hoped Wenxi would find happiness with someone she loved, start a family, and grow old together.
Tears welled up, and Wenxi, moved, handed her a tissue.
“Don’t cry, Grandma—it’s happy news.”
Yan Run, watching from the side, felt a twinge of jealousy. Why didn’t she cry when I found out?
He Yunzhi nodded.
“Yes, happy news. I won’t cry.” She exchanged a glance with her husband, both filled with joy.
“How far along?”
“Two months,” Wenxi answered softly.
“Do your mothers know?”
Wenxi shook her head.
“I don’t want to tell them yet.”
“Why not?”
“When I was little, they were always too busy to care for me. They’d come home without even saying hello, leaving me waiting and missing them every day. Now it’s my turn to teach them a lesson.”
He Yunzhi sighed with a smile.
“You child…”
Yan Run nodded repeatedly—Wenxi had told her about this before.
Growing up, Yu Qingyue and Luo Wenting had been constantly tied up with Yu Group business, often traveling abroad for months at a time. It was her grandparents who raised her, so she was closest to them. The lack of attention from her mothers had left a small, stubborn knot in her heart.
Looking at Wenxi’s belly, He Yunzhi reached out and clasped her hand.
“My dear child… you’ve finally grown up.”
With her wrinkled hand, she brushed Wenxi’s hair back behind her ear, her eyes full of reluctant tenderness.
Wenxi met her gaze, lips pressed together.
Then He Yunzhi turned to Yan Run, startling her.
“Grandma, don’t worry,” Yan Run said quickly. “I’ll take good care of my wife.”
She even swore,
“I promise—this lifetime, I’ll only love Yu Wenxi.”
The elder chuckled.
“A-Run, you really are an endearing child.”
Wenxi gave Yan Run a sidelong glance.
“She is, I suppose. But she can be very fierce sometimes.”
“Huh? What do you mean by that?” Yan Run asked, puzzled.
Wenxi just smiled—fierce in bed, obviously.
“A-Run, come here,” He Yunzhi said.
Obediently, Yan Run stepped forward.
The grandmother took both their hands and placed them together.
“I’m very satisfied with you, so I’m at ease letting Xixi marry you.”
Yan Run’s cheeks turned pink.
“Thank you, Grandma. I’ll always be good to Xixi.”
“Xixi, huh?” Wenxi raised an eyebrow.
Yan Run just hummed, clearly unwilling to give up that pet name—and secretly hoping Wenxi would call her Jiejie in return.
“They’re wives now,” He Yunzhi said kindly. “They can call each other whatever they like.”
Yan Run’s eyes lit up, but Wenxi shook her head.
“No. She can only call me…” She trailed off, face flushing, unwilling to say something too intimate in front of Grandma.
Yan Run arched a brow.
“Why’d you stop, wife?”
“Don’t call me that in front of Grandma,” Wenxi scolded.
“But you are my wife. Why can’t I say it?”
“Because. You just can’t.”
He Yunzhi watched them bicker, and was reminded of her own youth with Yu Huanzhu—when life was tight and the Yu family was far from a major enterprise.
With a soft sigh, she said, “When your grandpa and I got married, we only had a very simple wedding. Both sides’ relatives came, but our house was too small, so we had to rent a place outside. No air conditioning—everyone was sweating through their clothes.”
“I see,” Wenxi said thoughtfully. “Grandma, you regret not having the wedding you wanted, don’t you?”
“No,” He Yunzhi smiled. “Your grandpa and I have loved each other for decades. A wedding isn’t everything. But… you two haven’t had yours yet, right? I’d like to see my granddaughter walk down the aisle in full glory—let everyone know she’s getting married.”
Wenxi’s eyes softened. She took her grandmother’s wrinkled hand, emotion rising in her chest. Yan Run, too, felt her heart ache at the sight.
“Grandma, just wait and see,” Wenxi promised. “A-Yan will make our wedding so grand that the whole world will know I’m getting married.”
