- Chapter 63 - She Really Did Save Me
Lin Chuyin was still talking with Yu Wenxi when she saw her phone light up. Thinking it was yet another call from the butler, forced by Gu Zhen to pester her, she felt a wave of irritation. Yu Wenxi gently held her hand and softly said, “You should still answer it.”
Lin Chuyin gave a quiet “Mm” and picked up. “What now?”
“Miss, it’s bad. Miss Yan and Miss Gu have both been stabbed.”
“What?!”
The two Omegas gasped in unison at the news.
A sharp pain burned across her back. Yan Run frowned, feeling a cold shiver through her body, though her chest burned hot.
Had Lang Feng stabbed her?
No wonder the wound on her back hurt so much.
Wait—
She had been stabbed!
Yan Run’s eyes flew open. Because the injury was on her back, she could only lie flat.
It was unbearable, like her chest was being crushed.
“You’re awake…”
The anxious voice beside her made Yan Run blink in confusion.
This voice… it was so familiar. Wasn’t that—
“Wife!”
Yu Wenxi stood there, eyes red, looking at her with a stubborn, unyielding gaze.
Yan Run instantly knew she must have made Yu Wenxi worry.
She quickly apologized in a pitiful tone: “Jie, I’m sorry. I only wanted to check on Gu Zhen. I didn’t expect to run into Lang Feng… I really didn’t think she’d pull a knife. I didn’t see it coming, so—”
“Enough. I already know. Lang Feng’s been caught. The law will deal with her.” Yu Wenxi’s voice was unusually calm.
Yan Run swallowed. “Then… you’re not mad at me?”
“How could I possibly be mad? I don’t even have enough time to feel heartache for you…” Her voice caught.
Startled, Yan Run tried to sit up, but the stabbing pain in her back forced her to collapse again. Yu Wenxi shot her a glare. “If you keep moving around, I’m not talking to you.”
Even so, she gently adjusted Yan Run’s pillow to make her more comfortable.
Knowing she was in the wrong, Yan Run said, “Then, wife, could you not cry anymore? If you cry, I really won’t be able to rest.”
Yu Wenxi was quiet for a moment, then wiped her tears. “Then don’t move.”
Yan Run nodded quickly. “I won’t move. I really won’t.”
She even stopped talking.
Yu Wenxi let out a soft sigh. “Do you know, when I heard you’d been stabbed, my heart nearly stopped. I couldn’t bring myself to come in and see you at first. I just kept thinking—if you didn’t make it because you couldn’t see me, what would I do?”
Yan Run hushed her. “Don’t say things like that. Look, I’m fine, aren’t I?”
Yu Wenxi still wanted to cry, but seeing the worry in Yan Run’s eyes, she forced it down.
“Don’t scare me like this again, okay?”
“I can’t exactly predict when I’ll run into another lunatic like Lang Feng.”
Seeing how much she was loved, Yan Run’s own heart ached. “I promise you, I’ll never get hurt again.”
Yu Wenxi couldn’t help but laugh, reaching out to stroke her face.
Yan Run adored her touch. “Keep going, keep going. I love it when you do that.”
Yu Wenxi snorted and gave her cheek a playful pinch.
Yan Run yelped. “Jie, why’d you pinch me?”
“Because I felt like it,” Yu Wenxi shot back.
“Then you should make it up to me. Kiss me?”
Yu Wenxi deliberately refused. “Not a chance.”
“Just one kiss. If you kiss me, it won’t hurt anymore.”
Yu Wenxi’s expression sharpened. “So… does it hurt?”
Yan Run gave two pitiful whimpers, like a little puppy. “Kind of really hurts…”
Yu Wenxi clicked her tongue in exasperation but leaned down anyway and kissed her—not a fleeting brush, but long and gentle.
Yan Run breathed in the scent of jasmine tea from her, and just like that, her body felt lighter and the pain seemed to melt away.
She murmured, “Jie, your pheromones are like medicine for me.”
Yu Wenxi flushed and immediately pulled back.
Yan Run regretted saying more.
“Anyway, how’s Gu Zhen?” She suddenly remembered that it was Gu Zhen who had saved her and couldn’t help but ask.
Why had that woman suddenly helped her? Was it some new scheme?
But Lang Feng wouldn’t risk working with her like that. And she wouldn’t throw away her own life to do it.
Yu Wenxi was just as puzzled. “Her injuries are worse than yours. She’s still in the ICU.”
“What?” Yan Run froze. “She’s going to be okay, right?”
Yu Wenxi shook her head. “I don’t know. The butler told me Lang Feng was about to deliver a fatal second stab to you—was it really Gu Zhen who stopped her?”
Yan Run nodded. “She really did save me.”
Yu Wenxi frowned. “I never thought she’d do that.”
She almost felt she owed Gu Zhen thanks—after all, without her, Yan Run might truly have died.
Yan Run sighed. “Whatever the reason, I hope she makes it.”
Yu Wenxi squeezed her hand. “Don’t worry. I’ll ask Chuyin for an update.”
The news wasn’t encouraging. Gu Zhen’s wound had missed her liver and lungs by only a few centimeters. Had the blade gone deeper, she might have been half-dead already. Lin Chuyin had lost her smile and kept vigil outside the ICU. Fortunately, with the help of renowned doctors brought in by Yan Run and Yu Wenxi, Gu Zhen was finally out of critical condition.
Lin Chuyin had already sent word to Gu Qingyun. At the time, Gu Qingyun was abroad in a meeting. Hearing that her daughter had survived, she didn’t ask how serious it was, simply ended the call and said she would check on her “later.”
Learning of Gu Zhen’s mother’s attitude, Yan Run was nearly stunned speechless.
Her mother was truly cruel—her daughter was on the brink of death, yet all she cared about was business, not even sparing a word of concern.
Seeing the puzzled looks on Yan Run and Yu Wenxi’s faces, Lin Chuyin had no choice but to explain, “She’s never been liked by her mother since she was a child. The only thing her mother ever gave her was abuse and insults.”
After saying this, Lin Chuyin felt an inexplicable ache in her chest.
Perhaps she really did feel sorry for Gu Zhen. After all, she had openly called Gu Zhen her girlfriend in front of everyone—of course she cared.
She knew that Gu Zhen sometimes put on an act in front of her, but she liked her, so she accepted it.
Beyond pity, there were so many more emotions involved.
It was family, it was love, and even friendship.
The moment she heard Gu Zhen was hurt, she had run to her side like a madwoman to see how she was.
At the end of the day, she did keep Gu Zhen in her heart.
She knew Lang Feng had been hired by Gu Zhen, and that deliberately allowing her friend’s wife to be humiliated was infuriating. But because the feelings were still there, she couldn’t bring herself to truly let go of Gu Zhen.
As these thoughts swirled in her mind, Lin Chuyin quietly sat down and broke into sobs.
Yu Wenxi comforted her from the side, and even Yan Run found it hard to bear.
Ah, Gu Zhen, you really do have her wrapped around your finger.
A few days later, Gu Zhen’s condition finally improved.
When she woke up, the very first thing she did was ask to see Lin Chuyin.
Upon hearing this, Lin Chuyin rushed over without hesitation.
“Jie, please forgive me.”
That was the first thing Gu Zhen said to her—please forgive me.
Heart aching, Lin Chuyin tucked the blanket around her. “I forgive you, of course I forgive you. Are you… are you still in pain?”
Gu Zhen weakly shook her head. When her eyes met Lin Chuyin’s, they lit up.
“Thank you.”
“What are you thanking me for?” Lin Chuyin was taken aback.
“Thank you for forgiving me.” Gu Zhen’s gaze brimmed with gratitude.
Lin Chuyin could no longer hold herself back. Stroking her hair, she murmured, “Fool… you’re such a fool. Why would you do something so stupid?”
“Because by taking that stab meant for Yan Run, I made up for calling that person to humiliate her back then. Doesn’t that mean you can forgive me now?”
Lin Chuyin’s eyes widened. “You took that knife for Miss Yan just so I would forgive you?”
Gu Zhen’s voice was weak; though she was in great pain, all she wanted was to know if Lin Chuyin still wanted to be with her.
Although Lin Chuyin’s eyes were red and her voice thick with emotion, she still stroked her head and said, “Fool, focus on resting first. We’ll talk about this after you recover.”
“No, I want to know now—do you still want to be with me? Please forgive me, I promise I’ll never do something like this again. I swear.” Gu Zhen looked earnestly at the Omega she loved.
Lin Chuyin hesitated, falling silent for a long moment.
“Let’s wait until you’ve recovered, alright?”
“No. I want an answer now.” Her voice broke as she could no longer hold back her tears.
Just then, Lin Chuyin’s phone rang—it was her father, telling her to come home and entertain some important guests. His tone was firm and left no room for refusal.
She didn’t turn him down. Looking at the nearly broken Gu Zhen, her heart ached, but she still said, “I have to go take care of something. Rest well. I’ll come back to see you tonight, okay?”
“Don’t go…” Gu Zhen watched her graceful figure retreat, knowing she was still walking farther and farther away.
Unknowingly, her face was wet with tears.
Her heart felt so cold it hurt.

When she heard Gu Zhen’s condition had improved, Yan Run brought some fruit to visit her.
Gu Zhen thought it was Lin Chuyin and turned her head away in annoyance when she saw it was Yan Run.
Yan Run sighed. “I came to see my savior. How are you doing?”
Gu Zhen gave a mocking half-smile. “How thoughtful of you.”
Yan Run smirked. “You’re the one being thoughtful—using this method to win Chuyin-jie’s favor.”
“Mind your own business!” Gu Zhen shot her a glare.
Yan Run chuckled helplessly. “Alright, I’ll stay out of it.”
For a moment, both Alphas were silent.
Then Yan Run asked suddenly, “You didn’t go after that girl, did you?”
Gu Zhen’s eyes were full of helplessness. “She knew about my relationship with that woman, so she went to get an abortion on her own and never saw her again.”
Yan Run was surprised.
Gu Zhen let out a long sigh, sounding almost regretful. “She was just blinded by certain interests. Deep down, she’s a good person. She knows that woman was no good.”
The anger in her voice made her teeth clench, pulling at her wounds and triggering a fit of coughing.
“Tsk.” Yan Run frowned. “Can’t you be more careful?”
“You actually care about me?” Gu Zhen looked at her in surprise.
Yan Run gave a light laugh. “You saved my life. Why wouldn’t I care?”
That made Gu Zhen laugh too, and for a moment, all her lingering hostility toward Yan Run seemed to vanish.
“Since Chuyin-jie was so worried about your injuries and even cried in secret, it means she really does care about you,” Yan Run said.
“So what? She still doesn’t want to be with me.”
“Well, not being together isn’t the worst thing. You could still be by her side as a friend, take care of her… and never have to part for the rest of your life.”
“If you and your wife were like that, would you be content?”
That shut Yan Run up—she had no answer.
“No matter what, you should work on your temper. With how tolerant Chuyin-jie is toward you, it’s hard to think her feelings are anything but love.”
