- Chapter 60 - Stomach Hurts
Yan Run was utterly stunned. Just what on earth was Gu Zhen trying to pull?!
She banged on the door hard, the thud echoing down the hall. Moments later, a burly man yanked it open and barked viciously,
“What the hell are you knocking for? Got the wrong room or something? Get lost!”
Yan Run didn’t so much as flinch at his roar. A cold smile tugged at her lips.
“Tell your boss to come out and talk to me. I’m going to teach her a lesson for daring to bully people.”
The man snarled. “What boss?”
“I’m talking about Gu Zhen.”
A flicker of surprise crossed his face. He was just about to shove her away when a voice, icy and authoritative, came from inside.
“Let her in.”
Without hesitation, Yan Run strode in.
Gu Zhen was lounging on a sofa in the spacious room, a half-finished glass of red wine on the coffee table. The alpha Yan Run had glimpsed earlier was pouring for her, and a male Omega stood nearby, watching them both with predatory eyes.
It was obvious—these people were Gu Zhen’s.
Gu Zhen hadn’t come to this hotel to flirt or fool around. That much was certain.
And that crying sound from earlier… it had to belong to someone else.
The female alpha spotted Yan Run and gaped. “You? Miss Gu, this person just came banging on our door on purpose. I’m sure she’s here to cause trouble.”
Yan Run’s smile was cool, almost mocking.
“Gu Zhen, fancy meeting you here. I didn’t think you’d skip your fiancée’s performance just to hang out in a place like this.”
Gu Zhen gave her a flat look. “And what are you doing tailing me? You’re not with your wife either.”
“I’m here to ask you one thing—the whereabouts of Lang Feng.” Yan Run’s eyes locked onto hers, sharp and unrelenting. “What is she planning? Why did she come to Burton City? Is she here to meet you? What exactly are the two of you up to?”
Gu Zhen let out a slow sigh. “You’re asking too much. I don’t even know how to answer you.”
“You’d better answer everything.”
She sneered. “And why exactly should I?”
Yan Run’s gaze sharpened. “Because of the person inside.”
Her eyes flicked toward the bathroom door.
Gu Zhen’s face drained of color. She gave the burly man a signal to grab her, but Yan Run moved faster—one swift kick and the bathroom door burst open.
Inside was a young female Omega, bound with duct tape, eyes red and swollen as she stared back in horror.
Yan Run froze for a moment—then her expression hardened.
“You’ve got to be kidding me, Gu Zhen. Are you insane? This is illegal!”
“Shut up!” Gu Zhen shot to her feet, storming over until they stood nose to nose. “You’d better stay out of my business.”
“Oh? Planning to keep her locked up? What kind of Alpha bullies an Omega?” Yan Run’s tone turned into a cutting smile, fury glinting beneath. “If I tell Lin Chuyin about this, what do you think she’ll feel for you then?”
Gu Zhen’s fists clenched tight, knuckles whitening. Yan Run caught the hesitation in her eyes and taunted,
“Go ahead, hit me. I dare you.”
For a long, tense beat, the two top Alphas stood there, neither backing down.
The Gu family might hold sway over all of Burton City, but the Yan and Yu families weren’t to be trifled with either. And with Yu Wenxi being a major celebrity, if the world found out Gu Zhen had harmed Yan Run… Lin Chuyin might very well leave her for good.
Finally, Gu Zhen glanced at the trembling Omega and said to the others, “Get out. I need to speak to Miss Yan alone.”
When the others had left, Gu Zhen slowly sat back down—only to watch Yan Run immediately move to untie the Omega. The girl’s mouth was still sealed with tape.
Gu Zhen stepped forward to block her. “What will it take for you not to tell Chuyin?”
Yan Run gave her a long, unreadable look, then rose to her feet.
“Let this Omega go.”
“Impossible. I went through hell to catch her—I’m not letting her go! You don’t know how much I hate her. Why should I?!”
“You want me to say it again? This is against the law!” Yan Run’s voice was like a whip crack.
Gu Zhen exhaled sharply, then said flatly,
“She’s carrying my mother’s child. I have to make her get rid of it.”
“…What?”
Yan Run was floored. This Omega couldn’t be more than twenty. Gu Zhen’s mother was nearly fifty—and she still couldn’t keep her hands off someone young enough to be her daughter.
“Your whole family is twisted,” Yan Run said from the heart.
At the mention of her mother, something raw flickered in Gu Zhen’s eyes, but Yan Run only felt unsettled.
“Even if the child is illegitimate, you have no right to force her to abort it.”
“And why should she get to have a bastard child, while I can’t make sure my mother stays alive?!” Gu Zhen jabbed a finger toward the frightened girl. “Do you know who she’s thinking of? My mother’s first love.
She only likes her because she looks like her! That old hag still has the nerve to cling to her? I hate her—I hate her!”
Her shout was laced with venom, her hatred for Gu Qingyun burning like acid.
And in that moment, Yan Run understood—Gu Qingyun wanted this girl because she resembled her first love, enough to even bear her a child. But Gu Zhen? She was the unwanted daughter of the woman Gu Qingyun didn’t love.
No wonder she was unhinged. With a mother like that, madness was inevitable.
But madness was no excuse.
“Whatever your reasons, this is wrong!” Yan Run stared at her, almost in disbelief. “You’re a lunatic—always doing things like this.”
“Stay out of it! I’m getting rid of that child no matter what!” Gu Zhen screamed, her voice breaking with rage.
And though the Omega hadn’t caught every word, she was beginning to understand the relationship between the sharp-eyed Alpha standing up for her and the furious Alpha trying to take her child.
Just then, a subordinate called from the doorway, “Miss, bad news—President Gu is about to return.”
Gu Zhen drew in a deep breath and shot Yan Run a venomous glare.
The pressure between two top Alphas was only growing heavier.
Clearly wary of what Yan Run might do, Gu Zhen asked coldly, “Are you planning to tell that woman?”
Yan Run curled her lips into a faint smile. “I’ve never been one to meddle in other people’s business. As long as you keep yourself in check and stop doing things like this, I can keep it a secret for you. But remember—just because she got pregnant before your mother married doesn’t make it your fault. Forcing her to have an abortion, and even resorting to coercion, is without a doubt illegal. Gu Zhen—have some self-respect.”
Gu Zhen’s voice turned icy. “And what about you, ‘sister’?”
Yan Run thought for a moment. Telling Lin Chuyin would only push this lunatic over the edge. She finally said, “Tell me where Lang Feng is, and I won’t say a word to Lin Chuyin.”
“One word and it’s a deal.”
But Gu Zhen didn’t trust her.
Yan Run sighed. “You’re too unhinged. Why would I take that risk?”
Gu Zhen lowered her eyes. Telling Gu Qingyun was one thing—but Lin Chuyin was another. What she feared most was that Lin Chuyin would stop loving her.
“In a few days, I’ll invite Madam He over to my house. I’ll bring Lang Feng there, so you can… have some fun with her. How about that, Second Miss Yan?”
Yan Run clicked her tongue. “Have some fun? She’s my enemy—nothing more.”
She cast Gu Zhen a last glance, stepped back toward the door, and left her with one final remark: “If you hate your mother that much, why not kidnap her instead? Why pick on a defenseless woman? People like you—what kind of Alpha do you think that makes you?”
Her words faded, leaving only the sound of her voice lingering in the air.
And Gu Zhen, fists clenched tight.
Back in her car, Yan Run found a message from Yu Wenxi waiting.
—Did you buy it?
She quickly replied:
—Hold on, hold on. I’m on my way back.
She rushed to the supermarket, grabbed a bag of flour, and then headed straight to Burton University to pick Yu Wenxi up.
Yu Wenxi was chatting with Lin Chuyin in a media classroom. The moment she saw Yan Run walk in, sweaty and out of breath, Yu Wenxi suspiciously hurried over and hooked her arm through hers.
“You’re back so late. I was starting to think you were sneaking off for a snack without me.”
“How could I? I was just… stuck in traffic.” Yan Run trailed off, unable to keep spinning the lie.
Her gaze flicked to Lin Chuyin’s gentle, elegant face—then back to the memory of Gu Zhen’s deranged expression—and she broke into a cold sweat.
Lin Chuyin asked, “Did you see A-Zhen?”
Yan Run shook her head. “Doesn’t seem like it. Oh, right—doesn’t she like you a lot? Why wouldn’t she show up at a time like this?”
Lin Chuyin frowned slightly, then smiled. “Maybe she had something to do.”
Yu Wenxi nodded. “Why don’t we wait for her to come back and have dinner together?”
Yan Run froze. “Dinner?”
Yu Wenxi explained, “Chuyin wants to treat us, and Gu Zhen will be there too.”
Yan Run was speechless. She had just been facing off with Gu Zhen, who had done something completely unforgivable—and now she was expected to share a table with a would-be murderer?
“Ow…” Yan Run quickly clutched her stomach.
Yu Wenxi’s expression turned tense as she pulled her into her arms. “What’s wrong, A-Yan?”
Yan Run leaned right into her embrace. “My tummy hurts… really bad.”
Her tone was soft and coquettish, making Lin Chuyin smile faintly despite herself.
Second Miss Yan, it seemed, became an entirely different person in front of her wife.
“Did you eat something bad? Let’s go to the hospital first. And why are you clinging to me like this?” Yu Wenxi fussed.
“Let me nap on you for a bit, I’ll be fine,” Yan Run murmured, still acting spoiled.
With a friend present, Yu Wenxi didn’t dare let their usual clinginess show too much. Flushing slightly, she coaxed Yan Run to leave with her. Lin Chuyin, sensing the mood, tactfully excused herself.

That evening, Yan Run couldn’t even be bothered to dress up for the dinner party.
Yu Wenxi, puzzled, asked, “Why aren’t you getting ready? Normally you’d want everyone to see how great your wife is.”
Yan Run shrugged. “It’s all familiar faces. Comfort’s better than glamour.”
Yu Wenxi thought it over and had to agree. She put on something simple but elegant.
When she was dressed, Yan Run’s eyes lit up and she grinned. “You look good in anything, jie.”
“Can’t you change your lines once in a while?” Yu Wenxi said with a helpless smile as she touched up her makeup.
Yan Run didn’t answer—just chuckled to herself.
At the Lin family mansion, the driveway was lined with luxury cars. Yan Run raised her brows and muttered, “Chuyin really knows a lot of people.”
Yu Wenxi replied, “She comes from high society. Plenty of people want to connect with her. But tonight, only a few of them are true friends.”
Yan Run nodded, wondering if any of Gu Zhen’s allies might be here too. But why, out of all people, would Gu Zhen bring Lang Feng into a crowd like this?
Inside, a dozen guests were laughing and toasting one another.
Gu Zhen stood in a tailored suit, clean-cut and polished, drawing more than a few appreciative glances.
Standing beside Lin Chuyin, they made quite the picture—talented beauty alongside graceful beauty.
