- Chapter 59 - As Long As You’re There, Any Wedding Will Do
Before long, the newlyweds arrived in Burton City, M Country.
Yan Run had rented a small house near Burton University—compact, cozy, and just right for the two of them.
According to Yu Wenxi, Lin Chuyin’s neighborhood was only about two kilometers away, in an upscale area called Alice Community—a gathering place for the wealthy, full of luxury cars and even home to a few former richest men.
Coincidentally, Gu Zhen’s family also lived there.
When Lin Chuyin heard her friend had come to Burton, she hurried to invite them over.
Lin Chuyin’s parents both came from artistic backgrounds—her father, Lin Anran, was a renowned pianist; her mother, a film actress of distinguished background, shared a harmonious, loving marriage with her husband. Her older sister was an accomplished film composer whose work had graced numerous movie scores, earning her a strong reputation in the industry.
The Lin family home was tastefully elegant, filled with musical instruments and lined with shelves of books on music.
Stepping inside, Yan Run couldn’t help but praise, “Miss Lin, your home is truly a feast for the eyes.”
“Don’t call me Miss Lin, it sounds so formal. Just call me Chuyin, like Wenxi does,” Lin Chuyin said with a gentle smile.
Yan Run glanced at Yu Wenxi—calling another Omega by a familiar name might spark jealousy—but Yu Wenxi made no comment, tacitly approving.
“Then I’ll call you Sister Chuyin,” Yan Run said.
“Chuyin, are you performing tomorrow?” Yu Wenxi asked.
“Yes,” Lin Chuyin nodded, “at Burton University.”
“That’s perfect,” Yu Wenxi said. “A-Yan is going to study there. Since you graduated from Burton’s music program, you could help her get familiar with the place.”
“Of course,” Lin Chuyin agreed warmly. “But what made you suddenly decide to study all the way here?”
Yan Run chuckled. “Burton University is famous worldwide—how could I not admire it? And I thought I’d bring my wife along for a trip in M Country. Call it a sweet honeymoon for the newlyweds.”
Lin Chuyin seemed to catch the implication, her smile tinting with pink.
Suddenly, Yan Run said, “Oh—doesn’t Miss Gu also live nearby?”
Lin Chuyin nodded, walked to the window, and pointed at a grand villa two blocks away. “That’s the Gu family house.”
The Gu residence was indeed the largest and most opulent in the neighborhood—no surprise, given their standing as one of M Country’s top conglomerates.
Yan Run hummed in acknowledgment, a faint smile tugging her lips—one that Yu Wenxi caught.
When they got home, Yan Run scooped her wife into her arms for a bath. Afterward, she lingered in affectionate touches and kisses before saying excitedly, “Jiejie, from now on, you get to pick all our travel destinations.”
“I’m a bit tired right now. We’ll talk later,” Yu Wenxi replied quietly.
“You barely ate dinner. Are you feeling unwell?” Yan Run asked, concerned.
Yu Wenxi smiled, caressing her Alpha’s cheek. “Of course not. I just don’t have much appetite.”
“Do you want to see a doctor?”
“No need.” Yu Wenxi nestled into her arms, breathing in the faint orange scent of her pheromones.
“Baby, we still haven’t had a wedding, have we?”
Yan Run froze. They’d gotten their marriage license back when she’d lost her memory—she’d never thought about holding a wedding. “When the time comes, I’ll give you the grandest wedding possible, one you’ll absolutely love.”
Yu Wenxi bit her lip, smiling as she nipped at Yan Run’s lips. “As long as you’re there, any wedding will do.”
“Really?” Yan Run’s face warmed. She kissed her Omega, tasting and teasing until pheromones filled the air with sweetness.
Elsewhere, another room was just as heated.
Gu Zhen reluctantly pulled away from Lin Chuyin. She’d been at the Gu Corporation all morning and had been aching to see her sister all day. Lifting Lin Chuyin’s chin, she coaxed, “Jiejie, did you miss me?”
Lin Chuyin patted her head. “I suppose I missed you a little.”
“That won’t do,” Gu Zhen pouted. “Don’t just ‘suppose.’ Say it like you mean it—loudly.”
They chatted for a while, eventually touching on Yan Run and Yu Wenxi’s arrival in Burton.
“What?” Gu Zhen’s head buzzed. “Yan Run is here too?”
Lin Chuyin nodded. “Said she’s here to study, but I think she just wants to spend time with Wenxi. Having such a clingy wife isn’t so bad.”
But Gu Zhen seemed lost in thought.
“What’s wrong, A-Zhen?”
“Nothing. Just… surprised.”
They talked a bit more. Gu Zhen admitted, “She’s actually quite funny. Looks like a rich second-gen, but she’s not scheming at all—very straightforward.”
“I agree,” Lin Chuyin said. “An Alpha like that would be very loyal to her Omega.”
Gu Zhen’s brow furrowed. “So… you like straightforward Alphas?”
“Of course. They’re easier to get along with.”
Gu Zhen made a noncommittal sound, sinking into thought.
—
The next morning, Yan Run woke with Yu Wenxi in her arms. She kissed her lightly, then hugged her tighter. “Wifey, tired from last night?”
Yu Wenxi murmured, patting her hand. “Just kiss me.”
Yan Run chuckled, raining kisses across her face until Wenxi opened her eyes and glared. “Go make breakfast.”
“Not until I get a kiss,” Yan Run teased.
Yu Wenxi pressed a quick kiss to her cheek. “No more.”
Yan Run promptly rolled on top of her, eyes locked. “Kiss me or not?”
Laughing, Yu Wenxi finally gave in.
Satisfied, Yan Run went to cook. No matter where they were, she made sure to prepare delicious meals for her wife.
When the aroma reached the living room, Wenxi was already up, dressed in a deep red nightgown, scrolling on her phone. She didn’t move until Yan Run brought breakfast to the table.
“Want to see Sister Chuyin’s performance later?” Yan Run asked as she sat down.
“Of course. She’s my friend,” Wenxi replied, cutting into her egg toast.
“I’m going too.”
“Aren’t you supposed to be studying?”
That was just the cover. Everyone knew she really wanted to spend more time alone with Wenxi.
After breakfast, they exchanged a lingering look—but Yan Run was keeping something from her.
She wanted to track down Gu Zhen and Lang Feng, to figure out what they were really up to.
Leaning close, she murmured, “Tonight… let’s go a few more rounds.”
—
Later, Yan Run followed Gu Zhen’s car.
This time, Gu Zhen had no driver. She parked in a temporary space and headed into a five-star hotel.
Yan Run quickly booked a room there to get inside, but once she entered the lobby, Gu Zhen was nowhere in sight.
She tried asking the front desk but was met with polite refusal—hotel policy forbade revealing guest information.
Putting on an act, Yan Run said, “She’s my girlfriend. She told me she was going to a concert, but something felt off, so I followed her here. Now she’s in a hotel… What should I do?”
The receptionist hesitated—this Alpha’s “girlfriend” was also an Alpha, which was a twist even in a city full of wealthy secrets.
Yan Run pressed, “Her name’s Gu Zhen. You believe me now?”
After some subtle intimidation, the receptionist slipped her a keycard with a note: 6166.
Yan Run thanked her and went to knock. Disguising her voice, she called, “Miss, your whiskey order is here.”
A strange female Alpha opened the door.
“I didn’t order any whiskey. What do you want?” she asked.
Feigning embarrassment, Yan Run said, “Ah—wrong room! My friend’s in 5166. Sorry to bother you.”
The woman watched her retreat before closing the door—but Yan Run lingered in the stairwell. She was sure it was 6166. Could this stranger be Gu Zhen’s date?
She had thought Gu Zhen, for all her recklessness, was at least devoted to Lin Chuyin. But this? This was classic Alpha betrayal.
Yan Run was considering telling Wenxi when she heard a door open. Peeking out, she saw the strange Alpha walk to 6165 and go inside.
Wait.
Yan Run crept closer. From inside 6165 came the faint sound of someone sobbing.
