That day, Yan Run announced she wanted to go to Burton University in Country M for further studies—not just to broaden her horizons, but also to improve her academic knowledge. The proposal, however, was met with unanimous opposition from the whole family.
Yan Huainan frowned. “You’ve got a perfectly good life in A City—why waste time studying?”
Xu Chenghuan added, “Going all the way to Country M? Your mother will worry herself sick.”
Yan Zhi was asked for her opinion and just shrugged. “Me? What’s the point of asking me to persuade her? I don’t care either way.”
Yan Huainan and Xu Chenghuan spoke in unison, “We weren’t asking you to persuade her.”
Yan Zhi: “…”
Yu Wenxi broke the stalemate. “I agree.”
At the Yan family dinner table, Yu Wenxi spoke softly but firmly. “Not only do I agree to let A-Yan go, I’m going with her.”
Xu Chenghuan was surprised. “Wenxi, you’re not filming anymore?”
Yu Wenxi smiled. “Since my debut, I’ve never truly taken a long break. This time, I’ll treat it as a honeymoon trip with my wife.” Then she took Yan Run’s hand and placed it on her own belly.
“Besides… in a quiet environment, it’s much easier for two people to…”
She trailed off meaningfully. Yan Huainan and Xu Chenghuan exchanged a knowing glance—whether they agreed or not, they had to agree. After all, they wanted a granddaughter badly.
It wasn’t just the Yan family who approved; the Yu family was on board as well.
He Yunzhi chuckled. “When you come back, I expect to see Wenxi’s belly nice and round.”
Yu Qingyue even patted Yan Run’s shoulder with a sigh. “You’d better work hard.”
Yan Run: “…” Could they be any less confident in her?
The truth was, studying in Country M was only part of the plan. The real purpose was to have a child. And on a more personal note, Yan Run intended to confront Gu Zhen—she also wanted to see if Lang Feng still had any connection with her.
Gu Zhen… Yan Run’s heart sank. Why are you doing this? Is it just for fun?

That night, Yan Huainan called Yan Zhi into the study.
“How’s your conversation with Miss Ye?” he asked.
At the mention of Ye Chun’er, Yan Zhi’s face flushed slightly, though she forced herself to remain calm and shook her head. “I’m not interested in her. You don’t need to waste your time arranging my schedule for her sake.”
Yan Huainan gave a faint smile. “Silly girl. When your old man was young, I was just like you—cold, proud, never bowing my head. But then I met your mother. She pestered me every day. I acted indifferent, but
I’d already grown used to having her around. Only when I saw her losing hope did I realize my mistake. From then on, I pursued her with everything I had—swallowing my pride again and again.”
It was the first time Yan Zhi had heard her father talk about his courtship with her mother, and the story mirrored her own situation perfectly.
But she didn’t take it to heart. In her mind, her mother, no matter how temperamental, was still a gentle woman. Ye Chun’er, on the other hand, was nothing like that—she was a spoiled, pampered rich girl, the exact type of Omega Yan Zhi disliked most.

Meanwhile, Gu Zhen and Lin Chuyin had already returned to Burton City in Country M. Lin Chuyin’s parents happened to be free and invited her out for dinner.
Gu Zhen, however, returned to that nightmare of a house.
It was a large home, full of servants—yet it felt empty, cold. Just stepping inside made her body tremble.
As always, her mother, Gu Qingyun, was in the living room. Dressed in a gray vest suit, gold-rimmed glasses perched on her nose, she sat on the sofa meticulously flipping through a magazine. She didn’t even look up when she heard her daughter enter.
Instead, she asked casually, “Back so late? Seems you’ve been glued to Miss Lin. Forgot you even have a mother, hmm?”
Gu Zhen’s face remained impassive as she ignored the jab and headed straight upstairs.
“Stop right there!” Gu Qingyun’s voice was cold and sharp.
Out of habit—just as in childhood when obeying meant fewer beatings—Gu Zhen froze mid-step. Even now, grown as she was, she couldn’t shake the instinct. “What is it?” she asked quietly.
“Turn around.”
She didn’t move.
Gu Qingyun stepped closer, her breath brushing Gu Zhen’s shoulders like a draft of icy wind.
“Why don’t you listen to me anymore? You used to always obey. What’s changed? Growing bolder with age? Daring to defy your mother?” She let out a derisive laugh. “Let me remind you—so long as I’m at Gu Corporation, you’ll always be a nobody.”
Gu Zhen turned abruptly, eyes blazing. “Shut up.”
A fist slammed into her chest.
“Mrs. Gu—!” the butler cried out in alarm.
“Shut up!” Gu Qingyun barked without looking at him.
She stared down at her daughter, who lay on the floor gasping for breath, not a shred of concern in her eyes. “Pathetic. You can’t even control your temper with the servants. I can’t imagine what Miss Lin sees in you.”
With a cold laugh, she left the house.
The butler moved to help Gu Zhen, but she shoved him away. “I’m not useless—I just hate her! She’s the one who ruined my mother’s life!” she shouted toward the door.
But Gu Qingyun was already in the car, far out of earshot.
Gu Zhen slipped into her room without another word. Her gaze fell on a photograph on the desk—her gentle Omega mother smiling softly. There wasn’t a single picture of them with Gu Qingyun. Slowly, her eyes grew wet.
She hated her… but right now, she had no power to fight back.
Then, thinking of Lin Chuyin’s voice and smile, warmth seeped back into her chest, and the tears stopped.
Her phone buzzed. She answered.
“Miss, I’ve found out who Mrs.’s mistress is.”
“She’s only eighteen.”
Gu Zhen let out a cold laugh. “She really has no limits—going after an eighteen-year-old?”
“They’ve just checked into a hotel.”
“If she gets pregnant, make sure the child is taken care of—immediately.”

Outside, the night was clear, the moon bright.
Yu Wenxi and Yan Run accompanied Grandpa and Grandma on an evening walk. Yan Run even recited a few poems, drawing delighted laughter from He Yunzhi.
Afterward, they returned to their warm little bedroom.
“At last, we have our wives-only two-person world,” the Alpha said with a wicked grin.
Yu Wenxi slipped off her light jacket, clicking her tongue. “Don’t we already live in our own two-person world every day?”
“That’s different.”
The Alpha scooped the Omega into her arms and spun her in a playful circle. The Omega shrieked for help, but the Alpha silenced her with a kiss.
After a bout of playful teasing, the Alpha gently laid the Omega down on the bed.
“Why does my dear jiejie want to go to Burton City with me?” Yan Run asked.
Yu Wenxi frowned slightly, idly twirling a strand of the Alpha’s fine hair. “Didn’t we agree to go somewhere quiet to have a baby?”
“There are plenty of quiet places,” Yan Run countered. “Don’t you think it’s a bit strange to choose Burton City?”
“Chuyin is there. I can take the chance to catch up with her.” Yu Wenxi muttered.
So that was the reason.
Yan Run’s face darkened for a moment—she had almost forgotten.
Yu Wenxi wrapped her arms around her neck. “Don’t cause trouble, alright? I’m really worried.”
“What are you afraid of?” Yan Run asked.
“Burton City is Gu Corporation’s territory. If Gu Zhen holds grudges, I’m afraid she might try something against you.”
“Don’t you have a friend there?” Yan Run nuzzled into her arms with a mischievous grin.
“That’s not the point. Gu Zhen is far too petty.”
“You’re finally admitting she’s petty—hahaha!” Hearing Yu Wenxi complain about Gu Zhen put Yan Run in an exceptionally good mood.
She took Yu Wenxi’s hand and kissed it again and again.
Yu Wenxi’s gaze softened, spring warmth flickering in her eyes. She leaned forward and pressed her lips lightly to the Alpha’s. “Baby, I want you.” Her words were anything but subtle.
Her cheeks flushed as she spoke.
Yan Run, thinking she had misheard, asked loudly, “Jie, what did you just say?”
This silly girl.
Yu Wenxi clung to her tightly, letting out a soft, needy whimper. “How do you expect me to say it?”
The Omega’s spoiled tone made the Alpha’s heart ache with tenderness.
Then Yu Wenxi suddenly bit down hard on her cheek.
“Ah!” Yan Run yelped, half laughing, half crying. “You’re biting me again—ouch, ouch, ouch! Bad wife! I’m telling Grandma you’re bullying me. It really hurts! Look, you even left a mark. I don’t care, I’m still telling Grandma.”
Yu Wenxi burst out laughing, and Yan Run stared at her until her laughter subsided.
“What’s so funny?”
“Nothing. I was just wondering… will our baby be like you?”
“Like me—meaning spoiled and clingy?”
Yu Wenxi nodded.
“Then she has to look like you. Only then will I melt.”
Yu Wenxi’s heart warmed as she squeezed her wife’s fingers.
“In that case, just like you, I’ll have to kiss her a lot.”
“You can kiss me now too.”
Yan Run leaned in with a smug little smile. “Hurry up and kiss me, or I’ll get jealous of the baby.”
The baby isn’t even born yet, and she’s already jealous? Yu Wenxi couldn’t help laughing, but she still leaned over and gave the Alpha a quick kiss.
“Just one?”
“You’re still not satisfied?”
“Of course not.”
The Alpha’s eyes glittered as she pulled the blanket over them. If they were going to kiss, she was going to kiss every inch of her.

That night, on the eve of their departure for Country M, Yu Wenxi and Yan Run sat on the balcony, sipping wine.
The Yu family estate was surrounded by rolling hills, the deep green mountains silhouetted against the fading sunset. Though the colors were muted, they glowed with a quiet brilliance.
The steady chorus of crickets filled the air, accompanied by the faint murmur of servants talking downstairs. It was utterly peaceful.
Yan Run poured wine for Yu Wenxi. These past few days together had been blissfully comfortable.
She had even managed to forget the momentary shock from Lang Feng’s earlier words.
Out of the blue, Yu Wenxi asked, “What kind of person is Lang Feng?”
Yan Run’s brows furrowed slightly. “Why are you suddenly interested in her?”
Yu Wenxi smiled. “Just curious how you two ended up as friends.”
Yan Run thought for a moment, then sighed. “Back in high school… she had bright red hair, and a bold, flashy personality. I thought she was a good person. Never mind—it’s not worth talking about.”
Yu Wenxi nodded. “Then let’s not.”
Yan Run scooted closer, shoulder to shoulder, and grinned. “Anyway, I think she’s just as annoying as Gu Zhen. Hmph, I just don’t like them.”
Yu Wenxi chuckled, pinching her chin. “How much do you dislike them?”
Yan Run’s heart itched. She held her hand tightly. “The kind of dislike where just seeing them makes me feel sick.”
“Have you ever disliked me?” Yu Wenxi’s gaze was soft as still water.
“Of course not! I was always afraid you’d dislike me. Especially since, back then, I used to pester you so much—always picking fights.”
Yu Wenxi didn’t answer, but she remembered. Back then, Yan Run had indeed been impulsive, not knowing how to manage their relationship. If Yu Wenxi didn’t reply to her messages, she would spam her until she got a response, sometimes causing plenty of unpleasant incidents.
It was strange—if it had been anyone else, Yu Wenxi would have blocked her. But whenever Yan Run relented and softened, she still found herself willing to talk to her again.
Maybe, deep down, she had never disliked this passionate Alpha.
“By the way, jie,” Yan Run suddenly said, eyes lighting up, “Miss Ji told me just now—Wei Qin is pregnant.”
Wei Qin hadn’t told Yu Wenxi directly. After all, they were rivals, and the pregnancy was only a month or two along—too early to spread the news.
Moreover, Wei Qin seemed to have thoughts of retiring from the public eye. When the time was right, announcing it would only make her appear more enviably happy.
Yu Wenxi blinked and smiled. “So… you’re jealous?”
Yan Run’s expression turned defensive at once. “Of course not! If I were jealous of her, wouldn’t that be insulting to my own dignity?”
Yu Wenxi chuckled, stroking her little Alpha’s head. “In my eyes, you’re the best.”
Yan Run’s ears turned red, her heart swelling with joy. But she still muttered, “So… you mean there are others who aren’t as good?”
Yu Wenxi: “…”
By now, night had fallen. Grandpa and Grandma were probably getting ready for bed.
Suddenly, Yan Run scooped up the drowsy Omega and carried her into the bedroom.
She pressed kisses all over her face, smiling in satisfaction, and whispered low in her ear, “jie, I love you. I really, really love you.”
Yu Wenxi smiled faintly, hooked an arm around her neck, and began undoing her clothes.
Heat flared in Yan Run’s throat, her gaze growing impossibly tender as she sank into the moment’s sweetness.
With beauty in one’s arms… what greater joy could there be?
