After the Scumbag Alpha Heard her Inner Thoughts - Chapter 56
During the musician’s break, the guitar music had stopped for a while, and soft instrumental music flowed from the speakers.
Standing behind the two of them, Chu Muqing heard every word Su Wanqing said.
Tsk, this seemingly well-behaved girl had some serious ambition — just like herself.
Without that unwavering determination, how could she have stood out among the countless talents in the Chu family?
If you couldn’t be first, what was the point of competing at all?
Chu Muqing thought Su Wanqing’s bold words would end there, but to her surprise, Su Wanqing added another sentence:
“Just like me — only Miss Cheng’s design will do.”
As soon as she finished speaking and turned around, she found herself face-to-face with Chu Muqing.
After a brief moment of panic, she forced herself to maintain composure and held her gaze.
It was hard for Su Wanqing to describe Chu Muqing’s expression at that moment.
She had forced herself to say all that bravado, but she wasn’t sure how convincing it was.
Since Chu Muqing wasn’t the reckless second-generation heir Su Wanqing had imagined — as the current head of the Chu family, she must have encountered countless types of people — would she have already seen through her little act?
Su Wanqing wasn’t sure.
But once the words were out, there was no taking them back.
She tugged at the corner of her mouth and said stiffly, “Miss Chu, I’m going to the restroom.”
Chu Muqing said nothing, merely shifting aside to let her pass.
She watched Su Wanqing’s retreating figure with a slight tilt of her head — There was a faint sense of a flustered retreat.
Interesting.
“Hey, I’ll have three glasses of ‘See You Tomorrow’,” Cheng Wan called to the bartender.
Before the bartender could respond, Chu Muqing cut in,
“No need.”
The server glanced between them, then nodded at Chu Muqing, sensing which one to listen to.
“Let me know if you need anything.”
Cheng Wan pouted.
“Is this server new? I don’t recognize him. I’m a VIP here, you know.”
Today, she hadn’t planned on making a scene — she hadn’t even bothered to greet the manager or use the VIP rooms. She had just come to tease Su Wanqing a little.
“Enough already,” Chu Muqing said, tapping away on her phone. A few seconds later, she looked up.
“Fine, fine. I’m in a good mood today — I’ll listen to you.” Cheng Wan chuckled.
Most Omegas she met would fall into her arms; An Omega with sharp edges and personality like Su Wanqing was a rare novelty. Her interest was piqued enough to forgive her earlier provocation almost instantly.
When Su Wanqing returned, the two of them sat quietly in the booth. The drinks were more than half gone, but Cheng Wan didn’t order more.
“Miss Cheng, would you like to continue?” Su Wanqing asked.
Cheng Wan restrained herself from ordering again, but she couldn’t help wanting to tease Su Wanqing —
Maybe it was just in her nature, something she couldn’t easily change.
“Miss Su said she must have my design?” Cheng Wan raised an eyebrow.
“I’m curious — if I refuse, what will you do?”
What could she do? Find another designer, obviously.
Su Wanqing curled her lips slightly.
Even though her earlier words sounded bold, she didn’t want to embarrass herself by backtracking now.
Her stubbornness kicked in.
“Miss Cheng, how about a bet?” Su Wanqing said slowly.
“If I can convince you to change your mind, you’ll design not just one, but three tea gardens for the Su family — for free.”
“Alright,” Cheng Wan, a little tipsy, agreed without thinking. With her hands on Su Wanqing, how could she possibly listen rationally?
Right after she agreed, Cheng Wan’s phone rang.
She glanced at it lazily at first — then quickly covered the screen and hurried outside, flustered.
After she left, Chu Muqing turned her head toward Su Wanqing and said, “Come on, I’ll take you home.”
Su Wanqing hesitated, glancing toward the direction Cheng Wan had disappeared.
“Aren’t we waiting for her?”
“She’s going home,” Chu Muqing said lightly.
Judging from how Cheng Wan had rushed out so anxiously, something must have happened.
How could Chu Muqing, as her supposed friend, stay so calm?
Seeing how unsurprised she was when the call came, Su Wanqing boldly guessed — the call must have had something to do with Chu Muqing.
Had she intentionally sent Cheng Wan away?
Was it… for her?
It was still early. More people were starting to fill the bar; the music had switched to rhythmic DJ beats, shadows and figures moving under the flashing lights.
Su Wanqing quickly followed Chu Muqing out of the bar.
The two of them stood on the curb. Chu Muqing pulled out her phone and quickly sent two messages — likely calling the driver.
The night breeze brushed past.
Su Wanqing felt her body growing lighter, waves of heat rising uncontrollably through her.
She guessed the anti-hangover medicine’s effects were wearing off, and the alcohol was finally hitting her system.
After all, she had never drunk so much before.
After messaging the driver, Chu Muqing leaned casually against the railing, not sparing Su Wanqing a glance.
But she didn’t think Su Wanqing would stay this quiet. After waiting a while, curiosity got the better of her — she turned to look.
Just in time to see Su Wanqing collapsing out of her line of sight.
Reacting quickly, Chu Muqing reached out to catch her — but it was a little too late. Both of them ended up tumbling to the ground together.
“What’s wrong with you?” Chu Muqing frowned.
Now that she was close, Chu Muqing immediately caught a strong whiff of Su Wanqing’s pheromones — and they were rapidly intensifying.
“You’re in heat and you didn’t even realize it?”
Su Wanqing’s rationality was still hanging by a thread. “I’m about to lose control. I didn’t bring an inhibitor today.”
Chu Muqing: “……”
An Omega drinking with two unfamiliar Alphas, without even carrying an inhibitor — How had this Omega survived into adulthood?
Chu Muqing pulled out her phone and called the driver. “Find a nearby pharmacy. Get two Omega inhibitors. Right now.”
Su Wanqing clenched her teeth.
She knew they were still standing outside a bar — If she released too much of her pheromones, it would be a disaster.
As an S-class Omega, her uncontrolled pheromones could make nearby lower-ranked Alphas completely lose control, plunging the scene into chaos.
In that case, the responsibility would fall entirely on her.
Damn it, Su Wanqing cursed inwardly. Her heat cycle wasn’t supposed to start for months — how could it be happening now?
To regain a shred of rationality, Su Wanqing lifted her own arm and bit down without hesitation.
The sharp pain jolted her back to her senses for a moment.
Gripping Chu Muqing’s wrist tightly, she whispered, “I can’t go home.”
Her pheromones — like tendrils of tuberose — were spilling out uncontrollably.
People nearby were beginning to notice.
For Alphas, an S-class Omega’s pheromones were a rare and precious elixir, capable of calming their irritability during rut periods.
A few people cautiously approached, taking deep breaths to savor the effect of the pheromones on their bodies.
More and more people began spilling out from the bar, their eyes gleaming unnaturally.
Chu Muqing glanced up, frowning deeply. Is my driver crawling over here or what?
He was taking too long.
She was definitely going to fire him later.
She gently shook Su Wanqing,
“Control your pheromones!”
Su Wanqing smiled bitterly. Her whole body burned like fire, except for the small patch where Chu Muqing’s hand covered her — it felt cold and grounding, making her crave to cling to it.
“I’m already controlling it. If I weren’t, it would be much worse.”
Chu Muqing clenched her jaw.
As an S-class Alpha herself, she could tell that was true.
Suddenly, someone from the growing crowd said,
“Hey! That’s my friend! We agreed to meet here for drinks — who are you? Let her go!”
Sometimes, at the bar entrance, people would pretend drunk strangers were their friends and try to drag them away — a disgusting but not uncommon trick.
Before the first guy finished speaking, another chimed in, “No, she’s, my friend!”
Both of them began moving closer, clearly eager to “confirm” if it was really their “friend” — but their intentions couldn’t be more obvious.
Every word they spoke fell clearly into Chu Muqing’s ears.
When they were only a step away, Chu Muqing slowly lifted her head — her voice cold and detached:
“Scram.”
As that single word fell from her lips, her pheromones surged outward.
An overwhelming, suffocating force of pure Alpha dominance exploded from her, slamming directly into the two approaching men.
Neither even had time to react — they collapsed onto the ground instantly, blood seeping from their glands.
“She… she just destroyed their glands?!” someone gasped from the crowd.
Chu Muqing didn’t even glance at them.
Without wasting another second, she scooped Su Wanqing into her arms and strode away to the right.
After a dozen steps or so, she finally spotted her own driver.
The driver jumped out of the car and hurried over.
“Miss, what happened here?”
Chu Muqing carefully placed Su Wanqing into the back seat. “The inhibitor?”
The driver quickly handed it over.
Taking it, Chu Muqing skillfully injected it into Su Wanqing’s arm.
The effect was immediate — Su Wanqing’s runaway pheromones were brought under control. But her condition still wasn’t good.
“Take her to the hospital!” Chu Muqing said urgently.
Then she leaned close to Su Wanqing’s face and asked,
“How are you feeling?”
“Your pheromones smell really nice,”
Su Wanqing whispered faintly — and then passed out.
Chu Muqing: “……”
Thanks for the compliment, but could you maybe stay awake first? I’m actually kind of scared right now…
“So, you’re saying she experienced a temporary pheromone imbalance because of excessive drinking and being exposed to Alpha pheromones?”
Chu Muqing frowned in confusion.
Cheng Wan might be a flirt, but she wasn’t reckless.
Had Su Wanqing encountered another Alpha?
While Chu Muqing was still wondering about it, the doctor’s next sentence completely stunned her:
“You two need to be more careful when drinking together.
By the way, your pheromone compatibility is 100% — that’s extremely rare.”
Chu Muqing: “……”
“And after she gets home,” the doctor continued, flipping through the patient file, “remember to mark her to help alleviate her symptoms. Other than that, there shouldn’t be any major issues.”
The doctor was about to leave when Chu Muqing grabbed her arm.
“Doctor, does it have to be me?”
“Who else? Me?” the doctor teased.
“Little couples sometimes fight — just make up afterward.”
“We’re not a couple,” Chu Muqing corrected, her expression stiff.
“I’m just a kind stranger who brought her to the hospital.”
At that, the doctor frowned seriously. “That complicates things. Her pheromone level is extremely high — she’ll need an Alpha of similar rank, at least 80% compatibility, otherwise she could suffer permanent aftereffects.”
Chu Muqing: “……”
Is this… some new kind of scam?
When Su Wanqing woke up, she stared up at the ceiling.
She slowly scanned her surroundings: an oversized bedroom, simply furnished, looking almost like a model home.
Her gland ached faintly, and memories of what had happened before she fainted slowly resurfaced.
Chu Muqing came in carrying a bowl of medicine and sat by her bedside.
“You… are you single?” Chu Muqing asked.
Su Wanqing didn’t know why she asked that, but she nodded.
“Before we met two days ago,” Chu Muqing continued, “had you seen any other Alphas?”
“My dad, my younger brother,” Su Wanqing said, her brain working sluggishly.
“Oh, and when I went to the restroom, I ran into a drunk Alpha.
We argued a bit — he tried to suppress me with his pheromones, but his level was too low. It didn’t affect me.”
Since Chu Muqing and Cheng Wan had been waiting for her, she hadn’t wanted to make a big deal of it at the time, so she hadn’t mentioned it.
Chu Muqing nodded, accepting her answer. “Drink your medicine.”
Su Wanqing reached a hand out from under the blanket and silently finished the bowl.
Then Chu Muqing said plainly: “Su Wanqing, instead of being with Cheng Wan, why not be with me?”
Su Wanqing almost spats the medicine out in shock.
“I can’t promise I’ll love you, and only you,” Chu Muqing said honestly,
“But right now, I can’t be without you.”
She had never seriously considered spending her life with anyone — Until she met Su Wanqing.
“Miss Chu,” Su Wanqing asked cautiously, “Can you still get Miss Cheng to do the design?”
“I can,” Chu Muqing replied.
“Alright then,” Su Wanqing agreed.
“Why did you say yes so easily?”
Su Wanqing couldn’t help but mutter under her breath.
She had fought so hard with Cheng Wan — Why did Chu Muqing give in without a fight?
Chu Muqing, lost in thought, didn’t catch her words.
“Hm? What did you say?”
Su Wanqing looked up and said clearly, “Because you’re good-looking.”
Chu Muqing: “……”
Meanwhile, elsewhere—
Over the phone, Cheng Wan shouted, “So what you’re telling me is, we were apart for just three days,
and you not only stole the Omega I had my eye on — you’re also making me work for free designing her tea gardens?!”
“Mm,” Chu Muqing replied calmly.
“Chu Muqing! Are you even human?!”
“I can choose not to be,” Chu Muqing said lightly.
Cheng Wan: “……”
Because of how utterly wronged she felt, when it came time to do the design work later, Cheng Wan only liaised directly with the construction team. She never showed up to see Su Wanqing again.
Too embarrassed to face her. Thanks.
Mini Theater:
“Baby,” Chu Muqing asked, “What made you fall for me?”
“Aside from your face…” Su Wanqing began.
Then, without hesitation, she added, “I can’t look past your face.”
They had only met once — How much could she really have known?
But she was beautiful, her pheromones smelled amazing — That was all it took.
