After the Scumbag Alpha Heard her Inner Thoughts - Chapter 50
Hearing movement, Chu Muqing turned from the window, slipping her phone into her pocket. In just a few steps, she was at the bedside, her voice soft and careful:
“You’re awake?”
Su Wanqing opened her mouth to speak, but her throat ached with every breath. In the end, she only managed to croak out one word: “Water.”
Her voice was hoarse and raspy.
Chu Muqing quickly picked up a cup of water from the nightstand — she’d prepared it earlier. Now, it was at the perfect temperature.
Su Wanqing drank slowly, afraid that if she rushed, she might choke. When she finally finished the whole glass, Chu Muqing asked, “Want some more?”
Maybe it was guilt after getting her way so thoroughly, but Chu Muqing was being especially sweet right now — asking this, asking that, serving tea and water, completely attentive.
Su Wanqing tried to shift her body a little — but she instantly regretted it. Every part of her was sore, and especially…
She glared at Chu Muqing and turned her back to her, the anger practically radiating from her small figure.
Chu Muqing silently took the cup away and walked around to her side of the bed.
“I’ll let you rest. The company called — there’s something I have to take care of,” she said.
【Just finished and you’re already leaving. Scumbag Alpha! 】
Chu Muqing crouched down beside the bed. Hearing Su Wanqing’s silent accusation, she chuckled softly and reached out to gently ruffle her hair.
“I’ll be quick. I already asked for leave for you.”
Su Wanqing kept her lips tightly pressed together, saying nothing.
Chu Muqing leaned in and kissed her forehead. “I’m going now.”
An hour ago, Xu Chengke had already called, but Chu Muqing hadn’t wanted to leave. After all, they had just completed the lifelong mark — if Su Wanqing woke up and didn’t see her, she would definitely feel upset.
After comforting her as much as she could, Chu Muqing tidied her clothes and quietly left the room, pulling the door shut behind her. The room fell silent again.
Maybe it was the lasting effect of the lifelong mark, but even though the air was still filled with the scent of wild roses, Su Wanqing didn’t find it uncomfortable at all.
She lay there for a while longer, then finally sat up, bracing herself against the bed. Her body wasn’t quite as painful anymore — an Omega’s body during a heat period would naturally adjust to match the Alpha’s mark. She wasn’t so fragile that she couldn’t even walk.
On the low stool next to the bed, there was a neatly folded stack of fresh sleepwear. Su Wanqing slipped on her slippers, pulled a soft pajama set over herself, and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.
The girl in the mirror had skin that looked even softer and dewier than usual — like a freshly picked peach, still dripping with morning dew.
There were faint red marks scattered across her neck, her shoulders, and anywhere else skin was visible.
Was Chu Muqing a dog in her past life? she thought, speechless.
The reddest spot was her gland.
Su Wanqing tilted her head to check the back of her neck. After a temporary mark, the gland usually healed quickly. But a lifelong mark was different — even after three days, two clear bite marks were still visible.
There was no way she could go to work like this.
If she showed up now, it would be like announcing to the world: I’ve been marked.
Just thinking about it made her face burn with embarrassment.
After washing up, Su Wanqing returned to the bedroom and grabbed her phone. When she unlocked the screen, the WeChat interface popped up — a chat with Ji Yu.
It seemed Chu Muqing had requested leave for her but hadn’t exited the chat properly afterward.
And so, she saw everything.
Her vision went dark for a second.
【Boss, I heard you ordered a few maternity dresses. When did you get pregnant?!】
【I’m not coming today. Taking a day off. 】
After that, Ji Yu — usually an unstoppable chatterbox — hadn’t bombarded her with messages. The conversation just stopped there.
Only when Su Wanqing added another line did Ji Yu explode back into life.
【They’re not for me. They’re for a friend. 】
As soon as she sent that, Ji Yu’s texts started pouring in.
【OMG, Boss, what’s going on? Was that Chu Muqing texting me just now??】
【What did you two do? I can’t figure it out, it’s killing me! 】
【Tsk tsk tsk, it’s already Tuesday. You two disappeared for the whole weekend! 】
【How was it? Was it good? 】
The chat exploded like a virus, notification after notification popping up, each message blunter than the last.
Su Wanqing stared at it, first speechless, then helpless, cheeks burning.
She hurriedly closed the chat to calm down.
But after a moment — not knowing where the sudden courage came from — she typed back:
【Find someone to try it yourself, and you’ll know. 】
【Boss… did you hit your head? I’m a Beta! Betas don’t have those kinds of feelings! 】
Su Wanqing held her forehead in her hand.
Maybe lying in bed for three days really did mess up my brain.
Why would I even say that?!
【Did you need something?】
【Forgot where you are? You scheduled a meeting today to discuss the new project.】
Su Wanqing stared at the message, feeling like her brain wasn’t in the right state for work today. She quickly texted Ji Yu back, saying she would come tomorrow, then turned off her phone.
Climbing out of bed, she realized her stomach was completely empty. Ordering delivery would take too long, so she grabbed her phone and wandered into the kitchen, hoping to find something to eat.
On the fridge, a small memo was stuck with a magnet. Neat, strong handwriting covered the note — just one look and she could tell who had written it.
【I don’t know when you’ll wake up. Call this number. Someone will deliver a meal to you within five minutes.】
Below was a string of numbers.
How can she be so thoughtful?
Why didn’t I notice this side of her before? Su Wanqing thought, feeling strangely moved.
She dialed the number. On the other end, a calm, professional voice answered and asked a few simple questions — what type of meal she wanted, and if she had any dietary restrictions.
Su Wanqing ordered a light dinner and answered all the questions. The call stayed completely businesslike, with no unnecessary chatter.
Exactly five minutes later, the video intercom rang. Su Wanqing threw on a coat and went downstairs to pick up her meal.
While she was eating, Ji Yu sent two more messages — both about work.
Feeling it was too complicated to explain over text, Su Wanqing called her directly.
“Your idea isn’t realistic,” Su Wanqing said. “I designed the clothes based on my friend’s measurements. Other pregnant women might not fit into them. Even if we adjust the sizes, they won’t look as good.”
She had thought about this problem before.
Since so many pregnant women struggled with buying clothes and often ended up feeling frustrated, maybe she could design a line of maternity wear that could be mass-produced.
She had the confidence to do it — to design something beautiful that most women would love to wear.
But when she had asked Cheng Zhuo about it, he explained that every pregnancy was different. Some women gained a lot of weight, others gained very little. It was impossible to predict.
Ji Yu had complimented her designs because Su Wanqing knew Lu Qinghe so well — she understood her figure, her preferences. But for random customers? That was a different story.
On the other end of the call, Ji Yu fell silent. She knew Su Wanqing was right.
“So what about the autumn collection?” Ji Yu asked finally.
“I’ve drafted a basic plan,” Su Wanqing replied. “I’m planning to visit Nancheng next week for market research. When I was reviewing the summer sales data, I noticed that online shopping was still the most popular, but Nancheng has a dense population. If we can figure out what they like, it could be very profitable.”
“Sounds good. Take me with you?” Ji Yu asked eagerly.
“Of course. I couldn’t handle it alone anyway.”
With their plans settled, Su Wanqing finished her meal, cleaned up the trash, and returned to the bedroom.
There wasn’t much to do here — nothing interesting around. She hugged her phone and absentmindedly scrolled through a few apps.
Somewhere in her daze, her mind drifted to Chu Muqing.
She wondered why she had gone out tonight. Was it about Gu Heng?
But Chu Muqing hadn’t mentioned him lately…
After sleeping for so long, Su Wanqing felt fully energized — and a bit bored. So she began examining Chu Muqing’s bedroom.
This room was at least twice the size of her little room at Ban Gui Manor. Yet, there were even fewer things here than in her own room.
A bed.
A built-in wardrobe.
Two chairs by the floor-to-ceiling windows.
And a small, simple desk.
When she had woken up earlier, Chu Muqing had been standing by that window, talking on the phone. She had spoken so quietly that Su Wanqing hadn’t caught a single word.
Meanwhile, Chu Muqing was facing off with Gu Heng.
Outside, the city was alive with neon lights and midnight noise.
Inside, the air was so still that you could hear a pin drop.
Chu Muqing sat calmly in the center of the room, one leg crossed over the other, swirling a glass of wine lazily in her hand as she stared coldly at Gu Heng, who was half-kneeling on the ground before her.
Gu Heng’s face was filled with defiance.
“You might as well just kill me!” he spat.
Chu Muqing tilted her wine glass and took a slow sip. “Killing you would be letting you off too easy,” she said in a voice both lazy and sharp. “President Gu still hasn’t learned how to adapt.”
“Accept my terms,” she continued, her voice smooth and deadly, “and Hengyang can still be yours.”
“Spit!” Gu Heng cursed and spat viciously on the floor. “Hengyang is already yours!”
He had struggled so hard, working day and night, only to find that his salary was less than that of an assistant.
If he didn’t think of a way out soon, he would be completely devoured.
Chu Muqing tossed a stack of documents across the table.
“This,” she said coldly, “is a record of all the money you’ve been secretly transferring out this month. The amount is big enough to get you several years in prison. If you insist on resisting, I can’t guarantee where these files will end up tomorrow.”
She swirled the wine in her glass lazily. “President Gu, I hope you don’t really believe I didn’t take back the company because I couldn’t?”
Gu Heng gritted his teeth. “So you knew all along!”
Chu Muqing smiled calmly. “It’s up to you to decide now.”
She leaned back comfortably. “And just a reminder — I don’t have much patience. I’ve got a wife waiting for me at home.”
Weighing the pros and cons, Gu Heng finally gave in.
Even if he hated Chu Muqing, he hated the idea of rotting in prison more.
So in the end, he agreed to work under Chu Muqing — illegally.
It had taken over two hours to track Gu Heng down. After settling everything, Chu Muqing and Xu Chengke held a small private meeting with just their own people.
Having Gu Heng manage Hengyang was a new punishment Chu Muqing had come up with — a way to grind him down slowly.
Since going abroad had wasted a lot of time she could have spent with Su Wanqing, she was now fully embracing the life of a “hands-off boss.”
Someone else could do the work.
She was happy to relax and spend more time with her wife.
Still, after everything that had happened, Chu Muqing didn’t trust Gu Heng completely.
She shared her ideas and plans with Xu Chengke.
“If things go well after a month,” she said, “you’ll transfer over to Lan Qing and help Madam.”
Before leaving, Chu Muqing handed Xu Chengke a brown envelope.
“Find someone Gu Heng trusts and give this to him,” she instructed.
“Why bother?” Xu Chengke frowned. “I don’t think it’s necessary.”
“Maybe not,” Chu Muqing said lightly. “But he has the right to know.”
Inside the envelope was the real truth about the incident years ago:
The child’s heart failure wasn’t caused by a misdiagnosis — it was due to a nurse’s mistake, administering the wrong medication.
The old master of the Chu family had taken advantage of the situation afterward.
If Chu Muqing gave it to Gu Heng personally, he wouldn’t believe it.
But if it came from someone else… whether he believed it or not was up to him.
“Give me the car keys,” Chu Muqing said, stretching out her hand.
Xu Chengke handed them over. “I’ll handle the rest.”
—
When Chu Muqing got home, Su Wanqing was lying on the bed.
She wasn’t really sleepy — just exhausted.
Hearing the door open, Su Wanqing perked up her ears, listening closely, but she didn’t get up.
Chu Muqing took off her jacket and glanced at the bed. She frowned, then quietly went into the bathroom.
The smell of cheap alcohol from the nightclub clung to her — she didn’t want to bring it into bed.
Hearing the water running, Su Wanqing relaxed a little.
Chu Muqing showered quickly. Not long after, she lifted the covers and scooped Su Wanqing into her arms.
Startled, Su Wanqing let out a soft sound. “You—”
Chu Muqing buried her face in Su Wanqing’s hair and took a deep breath, inhaling the sweet scent of coconut milk shampoo.
“Baby,” she murmured. “Did you miss me?”
“I didn’t,” Su Wanqing pouted. “It’s only been a few hours.”
“I don’t believe you,” Chu Muqing teased.
She ran her hand along Su Wanqing’s waist — so slender she could almost wrap one hand around it. Her skin was soft and smooth, making it hard to resist touching her more.
“Do you want my pheromones?” Chu Muqing whispered.
“…That, I do want,” Su Wanqing admitted.
“Then turn around.”
Obediently, Su Wanqing rolled over, though she muttered with a little frustration, “I don’t know why, but I can’t seem to control it.”
It was like being addicted — she craved Chu Muqing’s scent even more than her presence.
This time, Chu Muqing didn’t tease her.
Seeing her so obedient, she released her pheromones immediately — a pure, soothing scent that filled the room.
Chu Muqing had excellent control.
The pheromones were purely for comfort — not for seduction.
Satisfied, Su Wanqing snuggled closer into Chu Muqing’s arms.
“Isn’t it strange?” she asked softly. “I miss your pheromones more than I miss you.”
“It’s not strange,” Chu Muqing said gently. “Because I miss you too.”
After a lifelong mark, both Alpha and Omega would experience a short period of dependence.
Hearing that, Su Wanqing finally tried to imitate her.
She started to release her own pheromones, a faint, sweet scent that floated around them.
Chu Muqing caught her hand and chuckled warmly. “Baby, when I give you pheromones, it’s to comfort you. But when you give me pheromones…”
She leaned closer. “Are you trying to seduce me?”
Su Wanqing stiffened.
“…Isn’t it the same thing?” she asked, confused.
Chu Muqing chuckled against her lips and kissed the corner of her mouth.
“No, silly. Just you being here is the greatest comfort.”
An Alpha’s possessiveness wasn’t about pheromones — it was about seeing, touching, and being with their Omega at all times.
“Then… will I get pregnant?” Su Wanqing asked suddenly, her voice small.
Thinking back over the last few days, she realized she hadn’t exactly been conscious enough to keep track of anything.
Chu Muqing laughed quietly and leaned closer to whisper something into her ear.
The ticklish breath made Su Wanqing squirm, but she still caught the words — and instantly blushed to the tips of her ears.
Chu Muqing grinned and caught her wrist, pinning her gently against the pillow before climbing on top of her, pressing kisses all over her.
“Not today,” Chu Muqing whispered against her skin. “No more today.”
After all, it had only been a few days.
She needed to take care of Su Wanqing’s body first.
