After the Scumbag Alpha Heard her Inner Thoughts - Chapter 38
A constant buzzing of static filled her ears, unbearably loud. Su Wanqing’s head was heavy and muddled, an odd mix of soreness and pain. She tried to open her eyes, but her eyelids felt like they weighed a thousand pounds—no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t lift them.
Nearby, someone was speaking in hushed tones, accompanied by the faint clinking of bottles and jars.
Su Wanqing heard one of them say, “Why hasn’t she woken up yet? How much of the drug did you use?”
“I only used a little,” the other replied.
“So what now? Go check if she’s awake.”
“Why don’t you go?”
Su Wanqing couldn’t help but feel speechless. These two must be amateurs at kidnapping—still arguing about it at a time like this.
What was their goal? Who was behind them? Gu Heng? Impossible. Although Gu Heng hated her, he was desperately in need of money right now. Chu Muqing had sent Lu Qinghe to lure Gu Heng; he had no time to bother with her.
Sun Xiaoxiao?
S.G.’s main business was luxury clothing, but the brand had been overwhelmed by bad reviews. The wealthy disdained it; ordinary people couldn’t afford it. Yet Sun Xiaoxiao stubbornly refused to switch to more affordable styles. After months without a single sale, there was no income at all.
Employees still needed to be paid, and her father had grown impatient, urging her to close the store and reopen if an opportunity arose in the future.
Over the past month, even Sun Xiaoxiao’s personal allowance had been slashed dramatically. Helpless, she finally gave in and shut the business down.
Recently, she seemed to have too much idle time on her hands. Meanwhile, Lan Qing became a sensation overnight. In response, Sun Xiaoxiao and Ji Yu stayed up all night sketching new designs for the fall campaign.
Su Wanqing had thought Sun Xiaoxiao might have learned her lesson and become a better person. But now, to find her resorting to something as stupid as kidnapping?
Was she carrying a rock on her shoulders?
“Wake up!”
No sooner had the voice fallen than a bucket of water was poured over Su Wanqing. It wasn’t ice-cold, but it wasn’t warm either—left out in the open air, it carried a faint smell of grass.
Su Wanqing’s dazed mind cleared. She blinked, droplets falling from her lashes. In front of her stood two masked figures, their faces obscured.
“Where’s Sun Xiaoxiao?” Su Wanqing let out a soft chuckle. “Brave enough to kidnap me, but not brave enough to show herself?”
The two exchanged uneasy glances, clearly puzzled as to how she knew Sun Xiaoxiao was behind this.
Before long, Sun Xiaoxiao emerged from the adjacent room—a small standalone space, relatively clean amidst the ruins of this abandoned building. Still, Sun Xiaoxiao looked visibly disgusted.
Holding her phone, she had been monitoring the surveillance feed from Su Wanqing’s room and had naturally heard her provocative remark.
Sun Xiaoxiao snapped the phone shut and walked over. She wore high heels that stumbled across the uneven dirt path, causing her to frown in annoyance. Crossing her arms, she stood proudly before Su Wanqing.
One was polished and glamorous; the other was bedraggled, dripping like a drowned rat. When Su Wanqing looked up, a weak beam of sunlight happened to fall across Sun Xiaoxiao’s hair, giving her strands a glossy sheen.
Putting all grudges aside, Sun Xiaoxiao was, objectively speaking, quite attractive.
“What’s the point of kidnapping me?” Su Wanqing asked.
“I just can’t stand the sight of you,” Sun Xiaoxiao sneered. “First, you stole the person I liked. Then you destroyed my career. I just want to see you miserable. I want to see you beg me.”
Su Wanqing frowned. The more she listened, the more she wanted to laugh. “First of all, Chu Muqing married me because our pheromone compatibility rate was extremely high. She was using me from the start.”
“Secondly, your career failed because your ambition exceeded your ability,” Su Wanqing scoffed. “What does that have to do with me?”
“And as for liking Chu Muqing—was it ever real affection? You were drawn to her status and position. When she rejected you outright, you felt humiliated. But since you couldn’t retaliate against Chu Muqing, you decided to take it out on me.”
“You applied to Huafeng, and when you found out I was a fashion designer—someone in the same field as you—you immediately assumed you were better. So you rushed to start your own company to prove yourself, and to prove that Chu Muqing had chosen the wrong person,” Su Wanqing said calmly.
“But what you didn’t expect was that Chu Muqing, for the sake of me, a mere political marriage tool, actually founded a company.”
“Are you trying to pin the failure of your fashion company on me?”
Sun Xiaoxiao gritted her teeth and leaned in closer, glaring at her. “Isn’t it your fault? If you hadn’t hired celebrities, bought fake followers, and paid for smear campaigns against my shop, would I have closed down so quickly?”
“That’s only part of the reason,” Su Wanqing replied. “I smeared you, yes—but didn’t you smear me too?”
“You deserved it,” Sun Xiaoxiao snapped, completely convinced she was in the right. In her mind, she had done nothing wrong.
“Do you really think that without me, your company would have survived?” Su Wanqing’s words hit the mark, straight and merciless.
“You blindly started a company without any proper market research. You thought, based on your overseas experience, that luxury brands would thrive in Beicheng. But as a member of the Sun family, you should’ve known better—have you not seen what Beicheng has become?”
“How many people here can even afford luxury goods anymore?”
It was only after founding S.G. that Sun Xiaoxiao realized the brutal truth. But so what? She figured, at worst, she wouldn’t make much profit—not that she would end up unable to pay her employees, losing tens of millions, and ending up in utter disgrace.
“Su Wanqing, have you forgotten your place?” Sun Xiaoxiao hissed. “You still have the nerve to lecture me? You’d better worry about yourself first.”
“And what exactly are you planning to do with me?” Su Wanqing sighed, genuinely confused. “It’s been months—me starting a company, you starting a company—always comparing yourself to me. Don’t tell me you’ve actually fallen for me. Two Omegas can’t have a future together, you know.”
“What nonsense are you spewing?!” Sun Xiaoxiao nearly exploded with rage. Was this woman treating this as a casual chat in a coffee shop? She had been kidnapped—kidnapped!
Stubborn woman.
“I don’t have time to waste words with you,” Sun Xiaoxiao sneered, disgusted by Su Wanqing’s aloof attitude, as if she knew everything. “Bring them in.”
If Su Wanqing liked Chu Muqing so much, then she would see what happened after a few Alphas left their mark on her. Would Chu Muqing still want her then?
The two masked men picked up their walkie-talkies and called for the others outside. Su Wanqing watched Sun Xiaoxiao sashay away with growing dread.
Su Wanqing bit her lip. Damn it. All that stalling and it still wasn’t enough time. Before she lost consciousness earlier, she remembered reaching for her phone—had that call gone through or not?
She had asked Chu Muqing about the situation with the Lu and Gu families. Chu Muqing said the details were with Lu Qinghe and told her to focus on building Lan Qing.
She wasn’t sure exactly what Chu Muqing had arranged with Lu Qinghe, but Lu Qinghe had managed to stall Gu Heng for over half a month.
Given the time zone difference, Chu Muqing likely wouldn’t realize she was missing. Lu Qinghe was busy playing mind games with Gu Heng. The only one who might notice her absence would be Ji Yu.
But knowing Ji Yu’s personality, she probably wouldn’t think much of it if Su Wanqing didn’t respond right away.
In that desperate moment, Su Wanqing had no idea who she had managed to call—or if anyone would realize she was missing.
The people Sun Xiaoxiao called for had already arrived: five or six of them, all Alphas. Their pheromones filled the room, thick and repulsive.
Su Wanqing closed her eyes. The clashing scents rushed at her like a tidal wave—disgusting, like an old, rotting sewer. Her glands began to throb faintly in protest.
The rope behind her was just a little short of breaking. Su Wanqing’s hair had grown quickly—within a few months, it had stretched from shoulder-length down to her waist. The summer heat was relentless, and Ji Yu had bought her a variety of hair clips to keep it up.
Ji Yu was still young, and the clips she picked were always bizarre and quirky. Today, Su Wanqing wore one adorned with a butterfly. During the struggle, the butterfly’s wings had been torn off, exposing the metal skeleton underneath.
The kidnapper was clearly an amateur—the rope they tied wasn’t secure, and Su Wanqing was just a little bit away from cutting through it.
Alpha pheromones naturally suppressed Omegas. Su Wanqing’s head pounded harder, her body drained of strength, and her vision blurred. She gritted her teeth.
Just a little longer.
Just a little longer.
Right before she lost consciousness, Su Wanqing thought she saw Chu Muqing—along with her ferociously aggressive wild rose pheromones, sweeping in like a tornado across an open field.
Was she hallucinating?
When Chu Muqing entered through the door, this was the scene that greeted her: Su Wanqing’s hair a wild, tangled mess over her face, surrounded by a group of clueless Alphas flooding the room with their nauseating stench.
At that moment, Chu Muqing’s fury shot straight to the top of her head. For the first time ever, she released her pheromones without any restraint. Her wild rose pheromones spread out from her like wildfire, instantly engulfing the entire ruin.
The Alphas inside were immediately crushed to the ground, their glands bleeding under the intense pressure. They cried and begged for mercy.
Cheng Zhuo and Xu Chengke rushed in behind her.
“Boss, the doctor said you’re not supposed to use your pheromones yet!” Cheng Zhuo shouted.
Cheng Zhuo clung to a pillar, unable to move. As a doctor, he had rarely been subjected to anyone’s pheromone suppression before. This time, following Chu Muqing into the scene, he fully experienced just how terrifying her pheromones were.
Chu Muqing, her face cold, quickly untied Su Wanqing’s ropes. She turned back and barked, “Cheng Zhuo!”
Cheng Zhuo wiped the sweat pouring down his forehead and waved his hand weakly. “Sis, please… reel it in.”
He had brought basic medical supplies just in case. After a brief examination of Su Wanqing, he said, “She’s okay. The mix of pheromones probably overstimulated her system, but from what I can tell, there’s no serious damage.”
Chu Muqing held Su Wanqing tightly, her expression icy as she stared at Cheng Zhuo. “Are you sure?”
Cheng Zhuo, having studied glands for years, was confident in his diagnosis. Especially with this being Chu Muqing’s wife, he wouldn’t dare make empty guarantees. “I’m sure.”
Chu Muqing carried Su Wanqing to the car, instructed Xu Chengke to take her to the hospital, and then turned back toward the ruins.
Cheng Zhuo rushed to block her at the door. “Chu Muqing, the police are already on their way! Let them handle this! Don’t act impulsively!”
Chu Muqing didn’t hear a single word. Thank God she had finished her work early in the U.S. and returned home—she didn’t even want to imagine what would have happened if she hadn’t.
Cheng Zhuo had never seen Chu Muqing like this—completely losing her rationality.
“Chu Muqing, think about Su Wanqing! If something happens to you, what will she do? You can’t resort to violence!”
Hearing Su Wanqing’s name pulled Chu Muqing back from the brink of rage—though only slightly. She still pressed forward into the building. She knew Sun Xiaoxiao was inside. She knew exactly who was behind all of this.
The earlier blast of pheromones had affected Sun Xiaoxiao too. She was too weak to withstand the pressure and had collapsed to the ground. After the initial shock, her body had been forcibly induced into heat.
Chu Muqing found her room, grabbed the remaining half-bucket of water, and dumped it over Sun Xiaoxiao’s face. Other than that, she did nothing else.
She simply opened Sun Xiaoxiao’s door, letting the thick Omega pheromones spill out, luring the remaining Alphas inside.
Afterward, Chu Muqing patted the dust off her hands and walked out.
Behind her, police sirens wailed. Chu Muqing climbed into the car without a word, and Cheng Zhuo quietly started the engine, heading straight for the hospital.
Su Wanqing’s injuries weren’t serious, but she remained unconscious. Cheng Zhuo ran a full set of tests, but as time dragged on, he started to worry. If he couldn’t figure out what was wrong soon, Chu Muqing would probably tear the entire hospital down.
On the third day of Su Wanqing’s coma, Cheng Zhuo finally discovered the issue.
“You’re not going to believe this,” Cheng Zhuo said, staring at the report and data. “She’s undergoing a second differentiation.”
Chu Muqing: “…”
“It’s just like the first time she differentiated. She’ll stay asleep for a few days, letting her body accumulate energy.”
“Now you can stop worrying.”
Chu Muqing nodded silently, her eyes fixed on Su Wanqing lying in the hospital bed.
