Chapter 5: Then You Can’t Grope Me!
Nan Jianxue didn’t expect him to make such a sudden return and was so angry he gnashed his teeth. “Can you not take such big pauses when you talk!”
Nan Zhanyuan smiled and continued, “He’s about your age, a very handsome person, and has a very good personality.”
Nan Jianxue frowned at this.
From Nan Zhanyuan’s tone, the person was probably like an immortal. It was normal for Liang Qifeng to be so obsessed with him.
“Then you still want me to marry him? Isn’t that like being a widow?” Nan Jianxue complained. “I don’t want to be the person who breaks up a loving couple. You should let us get a divorce.”
Nan Zhanyuan didn’t answer. Instead, he asked, “Didn’t you two get along well last night? Why do you suddenly want a divorce? Did he make you unhappy?”
At this, Nan Jianxue couldn’t help but frown. He reached out and pulled on his sleeve, and in a sweet, coaxing voice, called out “Imperial Brother.”
“That trick won’t work,” Nan Zhanyuan said, looking at him. “It was Imperial Mother’s idea for you to get married.”
Nan Jianxue was stunned.
Nan Zhanyuan continued, “People come to Imperial Mother every other day to say they want to marry you. So Imperial Mother decided to choose a match for you. I thought for a long time and chose Qifeng for you. If you’re not satisfied, you can change to another one. Who do you want to change to?”
Nan Jianxue had wanted to resist for a bit, but he was suddenly choked by the last sentence.
Change to another one… who could he change to?
“I don’t want to get married,” Nan Jianxue said softly. “You clearly said before that the royal family could afford to support me, but now you won’t.”
Nan Zhanyuan thought for a moment and asked in confusion, “Did I say that?”
“A gentleman never goes back on his word. How can you lie?” Nan Jianxue folded his arms. “I don’t want to marry anyone. I just want to be a princess forever!”
Nan Zhanyuan heard this and continued to coax him, “You’ll still be a princess after you’re married. You’ll always be the princess that Imperial Mother and I love.”
After he said that, Nan Jianxue was speechless.
He actually had a lot more to say, but he didn’t know how to start. He hesitated for a long time and finally just lowered his head, feeling wronged.
Nan Zhanyuan saw this and said, “Ask whatever you want to ask.”
Only then did Nan Jianxue look up at him and ask, “Does Imperial Brother have another purpose for arranging this marriage?”
He didn’t believe that his Imperial Brother and Imperial Mother would arrange his marriage for such a reason and say that he couldn’t get a divorce.
“You could… say that,” Nan Zhanyuan lowered his eyes and sighed softly. “You know that Qifeng holds military power at the border, and he has rarely returned to the capital in recent years. I’m not at ease.”
Nan Jianxue frowned at this. “But he and Imperial Brother have known each other for so many years. Would he… would he betray Imperial Brother?”
Nan Zhanyuan shook his head and sighed again. “Sometimes, it’s not up to him.”
Nan Jianxue looked at him blankly.
He didn’t know much about these political matters, but he knew what he should do as a princess.
He bit his lip, lowered his eyes, and thought about what to do.
If he tried harder to act spoiled with his Imperial Brother now, his Imperial Brother might concede, but after hearing what he said, he really didn’t want to add any more pressure to his Imperial Brother.
But he also couldn’t be a real couple with Liang Qifeng.
Maybe he could try to approach Liang Qifeng?
Just as he was thinking about how to talk to Liang Qifeng, Nan Zhanyuan suddenly reached out and patted his shoulder. He said softly, “Don’t worry, Qifeng’s crush is nowhere to be found. He won’t get in your way.”
Hearing this, Nan Jianxue’s ears immediately perked up.
He looked up at Nan Zhanyuan and asked, “Do you know something?”
Nan Zhanyuan frowned and hesitated, as if he was thinking about whether to say it.
Nan Jianxue immediately acted spoiled. “I’m a party to this now. You should tell me.”
Nan Zhanyuan hesitated again, and after seeing Nan Jianxue’s wronged eyes, he gave in. He sighed softly and said, “It’s not really a secret. A few of us all know about it.”
When he said a few, he meant the friends he grew up with. Nan Jianxue had heard their names but hadn’t met them much.
“It was a long time ago,” Nan Zhanyuan said. “He came to the palace to find me, but Imperial Father summoned me, so I told him to wait in the Imperial Garden. That’s where he met the person he fancies. He said the person had a very cute personality and was very good-looking. After he came back, he couldn’t stop thinking about him and said he wanted to find him, but he never did.”
Nan Jianxue “oh”ed and thought for a moment. He said, “He met him in the palace, so he must have been a eunuch, right?”
Nan Zhanyuan shook his head. “We looked for a long time but never found him. We don’t know what he’s doing now. Maybe he’s not even alive anymore.”
Nan Jianxue wanted to ask for more details, but Nan Zhanyuan really didn’t know. He said helplessly, “He only saw him once, and it was so long ago that Qifeng probably doesn’t even remember it clearly himself.”
Nan Jianxue “oh”ed again, and his eyes started to move around.
“What are you thinking?” Nan Zhanyuan squinted at him. “What kind of idea are you cooking up?”
“Nothing,” Nan Jianxue’s face returned to a smile, sweeping away his previous wronged and dejected look. “I’ll think about it again.”
Nan Zhanyuan touched his hair. “The scenery in this garden is nice. You can go for a walk. I’ll talk to Qifeng for a bit, and then you can go with him to see the old madam?”
Nan Jianxue nodded. “I’ll go get him.”
He said this and turned to look for Liang Qifeng, but he saw Liang Qifeng walking toward them. He said, “Imperial Brother is looking for you.”
After he said that, he left with Qingqian.
As soon as he left, Liang Qifeng heard Nan Zhanyuan ask, “Isn’t A’xue adorable?”
Liang Qifeng’s steps faltered. He frowned. “Don’t be disgusting. What was the meaning of what you just told her?”
“Just to coax her,” Nan Zhanyuan pointed to the chair opposite him. After Liang Qifeng sat down, he said, “What, you don’t want people to know about the person you fancy?”
“It doesn’t matter,” Liang Qifeng said calmly. “You can’t even find him. Do you still have the nerve to ask me?”
Nan Zhanyuan was speechless. “With your description, do you really think it’s easy to find?”
He still remembered when Liang Qifeng came to him and asked him to help find someone in the palace. When he asked what the person looked like, he couldn’t describe him in too much detail. He just said he was very pretty and had a very cute smile. When he asked for more details, he said the person had big, watery eyes, red lips, white teeth, and long hair, and was wearing a blue outfit.
With that description, you could find a whole bunch of people in the palace. It would be a miracle to find the right one.
Liang Qifeng didn’t bother to answer him. He said, “She wasn’t wrong. Marrying me is like being a widow. You’re a heartless brother.”
Nan Zhanyuan smiled and didn’t take the bait. He brought the conversation back. “I might have a lead on the person you fancy.”
Liang Qifeng’s eyelids twitched. He looked up at him.
Nan Zhanyuan continued, “Yesterday, Anping came to the palace. I told her about this, and she immediately said that A’xue had mentioned this person before. She said that A’xue had a playmate like that when he was a child. I originally wanted to tell you, but I forgot after the assassin incident.”
Liang Qifeng frowned.
“So, who the person you fancy is, only he probably knows now,” Nan Zhanyuan said. “Anyway, I’ve given you the opportunity. Whether you can get it out of him is your business. My only two requests are. First, if you still can’t find him this time, you two will be a real couple and forget about divorce. Second, you are not to let her be wronged.”
Liang Qifeng raised an eyebrow. “Her marrying me is already a wrong in itself.”
“You can’t say that for sure,” Nan Zhanyuan looked at him deeply. “Many things can’t be judged by the surface.”
Liang Qifeng didn’t respond. He lowered his eyes and thought about what Nan Jianxue had said last night.
Nan Zhanyuan saw his silence and called out to him, “What are you dazing about?”
“I know,” Liang Qifeng lifted his eyelids and glanced at him. “If he’s already married, I’ll accept my fate.”
A smile appeared on Nan Zhanyuan’s face. He waved his hand at him. “I should go back, too. You and A’xue go see the old madam.”
Liang Qifeng nodded, got up, and went to look for Nan Jianxue.
But in that short time, Nan Jianxue had disappeared.
Liang Qifeng frowned and looked around. He finally found him in a corner.
He and Qingqian had their arms outstretched, seemingly cornering something.
“Nan Jianxue,” he called out.
At the same time, an orange shadow darted out from between him and Qingqian and rushed towards Liang Qifeng.
Nan Jianxue immediately turned around and said, “Liang Qifeng! Catch it!”
Liang Qifeng didn’t listen. He even moved aside, letting the figure run past his feet.
The shadow was too fast. By the time Nan Jianxue ran over, it had already disappeared.
He looked around in disbelief but couldn’t find it. He immediately looked at Liang Qifeng with a wronged expression. “Why didn’t you catch it?”
“Why should I catch it?” Liang Qifeng said. “I’m not your subordinate.”
“But you could have still caught it!” Nan Jianxue pouted, a little unhappy.
A “boring” was on the tip of Liang Qifeng’s tongue, but he remembered what Nan Zhanyuan had said and swallowed it back.
“Wait,” Liang Qifeng said. “I’ll go catch it.”
He said this and turned to look for it.
Based on its size, the shadow was probably a cat. Although it was hard to catch, it wasn’t hard to find. Liang Qifeng turned a corner and saw it lying on a large rock, sunbathing. Its body was spread out on both sides, like a pancake. Its tail was swaying back and forth, looking very comfortable.
Hearing someone coming, it wasn’t afraid. It just glanced in Liang Qifeng’s direction.
Liang Qifeng immediately went to catch it, but just as he was about to touch it, the cat ran away.
Although the cat was fat, it was very agile. The garden was huge and had many obstacles, which was very advantageous for it.
Unfortunately, this time it ran into Liang Qifeng. Unlike Nan Jianxue, he was very good at martial arts. Catching a cat was an easy task. The cat darted a few times and realized it couldn’t shake him off, so it immediately ran to a high place, wanting to climb a tree. But as soon as it landed on the tree trunk, the back of its neck was grabbed by Liang Qifeng, who had also jumped onto the tree.
It wanted to scratch him, but after a few tries, it only managed to wiggle its chubby body and could only resign itself to being carried in front of Nan Jianxue.
Nan Jianxue’s face lit up with joy. He tentatively reached out.
The orange cat immediately bared its claws, ready to attack him, but before it could, both of its paws were grabbed by Liang Qifeng.
Having lost its weapons and having its fate-deciding scruff grabbed, the orange cat completely wilted.
Only then did Nan Jianxue reach out and gently stroke its head.
It was fluffy and soft.
He lowered his voice and said in a coaxing tone, “You’re so cute. Can I hold you?”
The orange cat whimpered softly.
Nan Jianxue didn’t understand, but he thought the cat had agreed, so he reached out. “Give it to me.”
Liang Qifeng heard this and handed the cat over directly.
Nan Jianxue happily reached out to take it, but the cat, which had been wilted just a moment ago, suddenly started to struggle again.
The claws that almost hit his face startled Nan Jianxue. He quickly took half a step back. Just as he was about to tell Liang Qifeng to hold on tight, he saw the cat had already broken free from Liang Qifeng’s hand and pounced on him.
A scream echoed in the Liang manor’s garden.
The orange cat, stepping on the soft fabric, looked back at the humans piled on top of each other, swayed its tail, and then darted into the bushes.
Nan Jianxue lay on the ground, looking at Liang Qifeng who was on top of him. He was completely dazed.
Liang Qifeng was also dazed. The cat had suddenly pounced on him. He saw that Nan Jianxue was scared and about to fall, so he reached out to grab him, but he missed and was brought down with him.
However, he recovered faster. As he met Nan Jianxue’s eyes, he immediately realized that their current position was a little inappropriate.
“Are you okay?” Liang Qifeng said, pulling his hand from behind Nan Jianxue’s head. He saw that the back of his hand had a scrape on it and felt a little helpless. “You’re quite heavy.”
Nan Jianxue: ?
“If you hadn’t lost your grip, how would I have fallen!” Nan Jianxue was angry. He pushed him hard. “Get off me!”
Liang Qifeng immediately got up, shook his hand, and patted the grass and dirt off his clothes. He turned and saw that Nan Jianxue was still sitting on the ground, so he reached out his hand. “Don’t do things like this again.”
Nan Jianxue slapped his hand away. “Qingqian!”
Qingqian responded, helped him up, and asked softly, “Princess, are you okay?”
“I’m fine, I just fell,” Nan Jianxue stood up with Qingqian’s help. As soon as he was straight, his brows furrowed. “Maybe I’m not fine. My foot… I think I sprained it.”
Qingqian immediately squatted down to check the situation. “It’s not swollen. It shouldn’t be too serious. Does it hurt a lot?”
“It hurts,” Nan Jianxue frowned and tried to move his foot. “But I think it’s okay.”
After he said that, he tried to take a step forward, but as soon as he put pressure on it, his ankle hurt so much that he almost sat back down on the ground.
Seeing this, Qingqian immediately said, “Princess, don’t move around. It’ll be bad if it gets worse. This slave will help you back.”
“What a terrible place! It’s so slippery!” Nan Jianxue said, wanting to stomp his foot, but then he remembered that he couldn’t put pressure on his foot. He could only look at Qingqian. “You stomp on it!”
Qingqian immediately stomped her feet hard twice.
Only then did Nan Jianxue feel a little better. He put his arm on Qingqian’s shoulder.
He didn’t want to put weight on his sprained foot, and he didn’t want to put all his weight on Qingqian. He could only use her to keep his balance and hop back.
But this was very tiring, and it was easy to step on his skirt.
Nan Jianxue had only hopped a few steps when he almost tripped over his own skirt. If Qingqian hadn’t supported him, he would have been on the ground by now.
He frowned. Just as he was about to tell Qingqian to call for someone, Liang Qifeng came over.
“Let’s go to Grandmother’s place,” Liang Qifeng said.
Nan Jianxue gave him a look. “I’m like this, and you’re still thinking about taking me to see your grandmother?! Is your heart made of stone!”
Liang Qifeng was a little helpless after being scolded. “Grandmother has a female doctor. Let her bandage you up.”
“I can’t go,” Nan Jianxue pointed at his foot. “Can’t you see I can barely walk!”
Liang Qifeng glanced at Qingqian.
This maid was a head shorter than Nan Jianxue and didn’t look very strong. It was hard enough for her to support Nan Jianxue, let alone anything else. At the speed they were going, who knew how long it would take to get there.
“I’ll carry you,” Liang Qifeng said. “But you’re not allowed to scream.”
Nan Jianxue looked at him strangely. Why would he scream?
“Hurry up,” Nan Jianxue reached out a hand. When Liang Qifeng came closer, he put his arm on his shoulder, but Liang Qifeng was much taller than him, so it was a little difficult. He had to use a little force to press down. “Bend down a little!”
Liang Qifeng immediately bent down. He put one arm around Nan Jianxue’s back and the other under his knees, and picked him up directly.
Nan Jianxue immediately let out a scream. “What are you doing?!”
Liang Qifeng slightly tilted his head to avoid his loud voice and said, “Didn’t you say you wouldn’t scream?”
“Who wouldn’t scream with you doing this!” Nan Jianxue said. “Put me down! I can walk by myself!”
“When will you get there?” Liang Qifeng carried him towards his grandmother’s courtyard, talking as he walked. “I’ll put you down when we get there.”
Nan Jianxue had no choice but to say, “Then you can’t grope me!”
Liang Qifeng frowned. “What do you take me for?”
“A beast! A jinx!” Nan Jianxue cursed. “Since last night, I haven’t had a single good thing happen to me! My luck gets even worse every time I get close to you!!”
Liang Qifeng glanced at him. “This seems to be because you insisted on playing with a cat.”
“It’s clearly because you didn’t hold the cat properly, and now you’re blaming me!” Nan Jianxue reached out his hand to show him. “And this. My palm got scraped, too. I got hurt on both sides!”
“I didn’t spill the tea,” Liang Qifeng said. “If I hadn’t pulled you, you would have been burned worse.”
Nan Jianxue said angrily, “So that gives you the right to make me fall?!”
Liang Qifeng was silent.
This wasn’t even unreasonable anymore. It was just being difficult.
“Then should I put you down?” Liang Qifeng stopped walking. “So you don’t fall again later.”
Nan Jianxue immediately reached out and grabbed his collar, saying fiercely, “You dare to put me down!”
Liang Qifeng glanced at his hand and said, “If you don’t want to fall, put your arm in the right place.”
“I did,” Nan Jianxue said, but his hand was still grabbing his collar.
Liang Qifeng’s grip loosened a little.
Nan Jianxue felt his body drop, and in a panic, he climbed onto his shoulder and cursed, “Liang Qifeng, are you crazy?!”
Liang Qifeng couldn’t be bothered to respond and continued walking while holding him.
Nan Jianxue had a very faint scent on him, like some kind of flower. It was a little sweet but not cloying. However, this smell was covered by the smell of dirt and wasn’t very obvious.
Liang Qifeng carried him the whole way, smelling the scent the whole way. By the time they arrived, the scent had been eroded by the smell of herbs in the courtyard, leaving only a faint trace.
“Young Master,” an old voice came from inside the room. The two of them immediately looked over and saw the owner of the voice walking out. It was a kind old woman with a gentle smile. “You’re finally here. The old madam was just thinking about you.”
Liang Qifeng nodded. “Grandma Cui, is Doctor Chen here?”
Grandma Cui was stunned. Her eyes fell on the person in Liang Qifeng’s arms, and her smile deepened. “This must be the Princess Anle. What happened?”
Liang Qifeng explained, “She wasn’t paying attention in the garden and sprained her foot.”
Grandma Cui’s brows furrowed. “Oh my, that’s not a small matter. Quick, put her down inside. I’ll go get Doctor Chen.”
She said this and hurried away.
Only then did Liang Qifeng carry Nan Jianxue into the room.
The smell of herbs inside the room was actually faint. Instead, there was the scent of sandalwood from worship, which was also not strong.
“Qifeng,” an old voice came from inside the room. The voice was not as strong as Grandma Cui’s. It was low and slow, probably from a sick person.
Nan Jianxue followed the voice but only saw a screen.
He tapped Liang Qifeng’s shoulder with his finger and whispered, “Is that your grandmother?”
Liang Qifeng “hmm”ed, not sure if he was responding to him or his grandmother.
As soon as he finished speaking, there was a sound of movement from behind the screen.
Liang Qifeng lowered his voice and said, “Behave later. Grandmother is not in good health and can’t handle stress.”
Nan Jianxue: ?
He glared at Liang Qifeng. “When am I not well-behaved?”
Liang Qifeng thought to himself, he’s been scolding me the whole way, and he still has the nerve to ask me when he’s not well-behaved?
But he couldn’t say that, or it would never end.
But even though he didn’t say it, it was written all over his face. Nan Jianxue’s eyebrows immediately shot up. He was about to lecture him.
Just then, the voice from the other side of the screen stopped him. “Why did you come so late? Did you get into another fight with your father?”
Nan Jianxue saw an old woman with a cane walk out from behind the screen. Her steps were a little slow, but her back was very straight, and she had a gentle smile on her face. This person was Liang Qifeng’s grandmother, Gu Lianxin.
After her eyes met Nan Jianxue’s, Gu Lianxin’s eyes curved even more. “This must be the Princess Anle. This old woman has seen the Princess.”
She was about to curtsy, but Nan Jianxue quickly stopped her. “No need!” He said, then realized his voice was a little too loud and quickly lowered it. “We’re all family. No need for such formalities.”
Liang Qifeng also said, “Grandmother, you’re not well. You should rest well.”
Gu Lianxin smiled, her eyes going back and forth between the two of them. Finally, they landed back on Nan Jianxue. “What happened to the Princess?”
Only then did Nan Jianxue realize their position was a little intimate. His face turned red, and he quickly explained, “I accidentally sprained my foot and couldn’t walk, so he carried me over. There’s nothing going on between us.”
He explained very seriously, as if he was afraid of being misunderstood, which made Liang Qifeng want to close his eyes.
This little idiot.
Gu Lianxin heard this and smiled. “Then you should let the doctor take a good look. A sprain can be big or small. If it’s not handled well, you’ll suffer when you’re old.”
“Grandma Cui has already gone to get the doctor,” Liang Qifeng put Nan Jianxue down on a chair and turned to help Gu Lianxin.
Nan Jianxue saw her sit down next to him and sat up a little nervously.
There were many people in the palace, but there were very few who could be considered his elders. On a normal day, besides his Imperial Mother, he would only interact with the wives of various families at banquets.
But the current situation was completely different from these two. Although he and Liang Qifeng didn’t get along, the marriage was real, so the person in front of him was his grandmother, a much closer relationship than those wives, but not as close as his Imperial Mother. Therefore, it would be weird to be too friendly, and it wouldn’t work to be too distant. He also didn’t know what to say.
Fortunately, Gu Lianxin spoke first and asked about his life in the general’s manor.
“It’s very good,” Nan Jianxue glanced at Liang Qifeng. “He… he treats me pretty well.”
Gu Lianxin smiled and didn’t ask any more questions. Instead, she talked about other things, saying that she had been looking forward to Liang Qifeng getting married for a long time, but he had never shown any interest. Now that she could see him married, she had no regrets. She also told the two of them to get along well.
Her voice was very slow and soft. Someone standing a little farther away might think she was talking to herself, but Nan Jianxue, sitting opposite her, could clearly feel her concern and closeness in her words. This made him feel much more at ease, and he looked less tense than before.
When Doctor Chen arrived, Gu Lianxin was asking him what he liked to eat.
Nan Jianxue said he liked sweets.
Gu Lianxin was about to say something else when she saw the doctor had arrived and changed the subject, asking her to take a look at Nan Jianxue.
Doctor Chen walked into the room, bowed to Nan Jianxue, and then knelt down in front of her. She said softly, “I’ll take a look first. Tell me if it hurts.” She said this and glanced at Liang Qifeng who was standing by the side, as if she wanted to say something but didn’t. She was hesitant.
Liang Qifeng understood and turned his back.
Gu Lianxin saw this and smiled. “They’re a married couple. What’s the point of this?” After she said that, she didn’t talk about it anymore. She looked at Nan Jianxue again. “Grandma Chen’s pine nut cakes are especially good. I’m sure you’ve never had them.”
Nan Jianxue had indeed never heard of such a shop. He asked, “Where is it? I’ll have a maid go buy some later.”
“That shop is small and out of the way. Only the old people in the capital know about it,” Gu Lianxin said, looking at Liang Qifeng. “Later, when you go back, have Qifeng take you to buy some. When you’re injured, eating something sweet will make you feel better.”
Hearing her say this, Nan Jianxue’s heart warmed. Just as he was about to say that he was fine, he felt a sharp, piercing pain from his ankle. His face turned pale, and he let out a cry.
Doctor Chen quickly let go and asked, “Does it hurt a lot?”
Nan Jianxue nodded.
“It’s a little serious. I have to set it back in place. It might hurt,” Doctor Chen didn’t dare to do it and looked at Nan Jianxue. “Does the Princess want to be treated?”
Nan Jianxue looked down and saw that his ankle was a little swollen. He hadn’t even felt it.
“Of course,” Nan Jianxue turned his head away and didn’t look. “Can you… can you be gentle?”
Doctor Chen’s face turned bitter. “I… I’ll try my best.”
She said this and didn’t give Nan Jianxue a chance to react. She immediately went for it.
Nan Jianxue screamed again.
But Doctor Chen was fast. The pain was only for that moment. After he recovered, it felt better.
But Nan Jianxue didn’t dare to move. He asked, “I don’t feel any pain now. Do I still need to be bandaged?”
“You’re just used to it. It will still hurt when you move,” Doctor Chen said, taking out medicine and bandages and starting to bandage Nan Jianxue’s foot. She also kept reminding him of the things he needed to pay attention to. “It’s best not to move around for the next few days. Remember to change the medicine every day. You’ll be fine in a few days.”
Qingqian listened from the side, writing everything down. She also asked, “Will there be any long-term effects?”
“No, as long as you’re careful not to sprain it again,” Doctor Chen finished bandaging Nan Jianxue’s foot and said to Qingqian, “I’ll go get the medicine. Come with me, miss?”
Qingqian followed Doctor Chen.
Nan Jianxue watched them leave. He looked down at the shoes and socks on the floor and decided not to put them on for now. He just pulled his skirt down to cover his foot and let it be.
Gu Lianxin also saw this and smiled. “Qifeng will carry you back later. Don’t walk.”
Nan Jianxue didn’t answer, but Liang Qifeng did. “Okay.”
Gu Lianxin saw that he was still with his back turned and asked, “Did you remember everything Doctor Chen said?”
Liang Qifeng didn’t answer.
Gu Lianxin sighed at this. “You’re a grown man, and you don’t know how to be considerate at all. How can the Princess stand you?”
Nan Jianxue nodded in his heart. It’s very hard to stand him.
Being considerate was secondary. The main thing was his bad temper.
“Grandmother,” Liang Qifeng said helplessly from being scolded. “Don’t worry so much about a child’s business.”
“How can I not worry?” Gu Lianxin sighed again. “I was hoping to see a great-grandchild before I die.”
Nan Jianxue heard this and pursed his lips in embarrassment.
“You already have two,” Liang Qifeng said. “They’re all great-grandchildren. It doesn’t matter who they’re from.”
Gu Lianxin frowned. “You’re you, and they’re them. How are they the same? Out of all the children, I worry about you the most. You’re always playing with knives and guns, and you’re in your twenties and don’t even have a single romantic interest. Now that you’re finally married, you’re still like this. You don’t know how to be considerate and make people feel wronged for no reason.”
She spoke more and more urgently, and by the end, she started to cough softly. Nan Jianxue’s heart ached with her, and he quickly urged, “Don’t say anything more. Your health is what’s important.”
Liang Qifeng also turned around, walked over, and patted her back to help her breathe. He said softly, “I’ll listen to everything Grandmother says.”
Gu Lianxin covered her mouth and coughed a few more times. Only then did she ask, “Really?”
“Really,” Liang Qifeng sighed. He knew what his grandmother was thinking, so he played along. “I will definitely live a good life with the Princess and work hard to let you hold a great-grandchild within the next two years.”
Gu Lianxin’s eyes curved, and she nodded without saying anything.
Nan Jianxue sat on the side, listening to him say this. His ears felt a little hot.
Although he was the person involved, he didn’t feel any sense of reality. Instead, he felt like he was listening to someone tell a ridiculous story based on himself.
It was incredibly embarrassing.
What made it even more embarrassing was that Liang Qifeng was actually acting it out.
After comforting Gu Lianxin, Liang Qifeng came and sat down next to Nan Jianxue. He asked in a very intimate tone, “What do you think, Princess?”
