Lu Shen and An Zhaoyu had a shotgun wedding.

On that night, at a banquet filled almost entirely with Alphas, An Zhaoyu went into heat prematurely. She had only one thought in her mind: get to the second floor and find that doctor.

Lu Shen was her old classmate, an aloof and stunning Beta. Usually a woman of few words, her entire aura screamed two words: “abstinent” and “stoic.” Rumor had it that she had recently begun blind dating due to family pressure, and her suitors included not just Betas, but a long line of Alphas.

An Zhaoyu’s plan was simple: get upstairs and have Lu Shen give her a suppressant. Lu Shen did exactly that, without so much as a second glance at the alluring Top-tier Omega in the throes of heat. But just as Lu Shen cleared the air from the syringe, An Zhaoyu swiped the medicine to the floor. Grabbing Lu Shen’s pristine white lab coat, she demanded:

Now, their daughter is one year old, and this “unfavorable” marriage is on the verge of collapse. The two have decided on an amicable divorce. The papers have been submitted, but the mandatory “divorce cooling-off period” for Omegas is quite long.

In nearly two years of marriage, An Zhaoyu rarely had contact with Lu Shen outside of heat cycles. Yet, for some reason, during this cooling-off period, Dr. Lu began “bumping into” Captain An every single day—at work, on the way home, and even when she was out to dinner with friends.

“Dr. Lu, who is this?” a friend asked, pointing at the impeccably dressed Omega, looking confused. An Zhaoyu, seeing every person as a potential replacement for herself in Lu Shen’s life, snapped: “I’m the mother of her child.”

Back in high school, An Zhaoyu helped her Alpha brother pursue Lu Shen. Lu Shen was just a hair’s breadth away from falling for it when she overheard An Zhaoyu telling someone: “Lu Shen is too gentle; she can’t tame me.”

After marriage, Captain An continued her carefree lifestyle—going to bars with friends after work and staying out until the early hours. Their baby was raised almost entirely by Lu Shen alone.

Once, Lu Shen received a call saying Captain An was drunk at a bar and needed to be picked up. When she arrived, she saw the Captain surrounded by a group of Omega girls, her face flushed with alcohol. She overheard An Zhaoyu joking: “Dr. Lu? She’s as cold and distant as the moon in the sky. How could someone like me even touch her?”

She only cares about the baby, An Zhaoyu thought drunkenly.

As Lu Shen signed the divorce papers, she remembered An Zhaoyu’s old words and shook her head slightly. She never intended to “tame” An Zhaoyu.
