After the Corporate Slave Beta and the Top Alpha Married - Chapter 3
Ji Yu hadn’t even reached home before his phone began chiming incessantly.
His brain, slightly fuddled from the alcohol, felt uncomfortable from the continuous noise. He pulled it out to check, only to find he had been added to a group chat at some point.
A quick glance revealed names that were somewhat familiar; they were discussing a high school reunion scheduled for tomorrow. Many people were @-ing him, insisting he must attend.
In high school, he wasn’t exactly a social outcast, but he wasn’t popular either. The positioning of Berlin High School was different from other ordinary schools; the students there all came from well-off families. Although the Ji family had sent him there, they didn’t care much for him. The things those young masters and ladies didn’t like doing were usually dumped on Ji Yu.
Of course, Ji Yu didn’t do it for free—he charged a fee.
Ji Yu scrolled up through the messages. He wasn’t surprised when he saw who had added him. It was Sun Caicheng, the Vice General Manager of the company where he currently worked—the boss of his boss’s boss, and also his high school classmate.
Sun Caicheng had only expressed mild surprise at finding Ji Yu working in their company when he first recognized him. After adding his contact info, causing others in the company to gossip and inquire, the Vice GM treated him with no special favor, so everyone eventually put the matter out of their minds.
Ji Yu didn’t need to think twice to know why this reunion, which didn’t seem spontaneously organized, had only included him now.
Fortunately, no one suggested he invite Shang Yuanzhou. They likely knew that, given his status, trying to summon Shang Yuanzhou was a pipe dream. They probably just wanted to pry for information and satisfy their curiosity.
However, they were destined for disappointment. He and Shang Yuanzhou weren’t close in high school, and now their statuses were worlds apart. That five-minute encounter was merely a powerful figure being polite to someone from his past; there were no “flowers” to be found in that story. In fact, Shang Yuanzhou was likely annoyed and worried about being pestered by fawning sycophants, which was why he had dismissed them so quickly.
Ji Yu knew these people were currently excited. If he told them the truth, they might believe him, but they wouldn’t be satisfied. When a person reaches a certain status, countless people are willing to perform “reading comprehension” on his every move. Shang Yuanzhou was exactly that kind of person.
“We’re here.”
Ji Yu politely thanked the driver, got out, and settled the fare on his phone. He then slowly typed a message in the group chat, showing his face to say he was back.
He didn’t want to cause trouble for his job. When Sun Caicheng added him to the group without saying a single word to him privately, both of them knew Ji Yu would definitely show up. From Sun Caicheng’s behavior, he didn’t think someone like Ji Yu would have any real connection with Shang Yuanzhou; he just couldn’t resist his own curiosity and wanted to hear about the situation at the time.
Ji Yu set the group notifications to “Do Not Disturb,” entered his home, and went straight to the bathroom.
Soon, the sound of water echoed. The shower sprayed droplets that trailed down the lines of his abdominal muscles.
Ji Yu wiped himself dry and stepped out of the bathroom wearing a bathrobe. He had been drinking; while he wasn’t drunk, once he showered and lay on the bed, he felt too lazy to move.
The bedroom window was open. The summer night breeze didn’t make him feel cool; instead, it brought a trace of restlessness. His fingers curled slightly. His body, weary from a week of work, felt a faint craving for release.
Not to mention he had drunk alcohol today, and the continuous stream of events had left him feeling a bit frustrated. Exercise could vent irritability, but it couldn’t provide this kind of relaxation.
Ji Yu let out a “tsk” and didn’t bother suppressing it. His bathrobe was loose, one leg was bent, and he slowly reached out his hand.
As a twenty-three-year-old adult man, he naturally had his own needs. To be honest, given Ji Yu’s physique—1.78 meters tall—even though he was a Beta, he could easily find someone willing to spend a night with him.
But Ji Yu had a strong sense of boundaries; he was repulsed by doing such intimate things with others. His self-comfort could be called “boring”—he used no external stimuli, and it was as dull as he was. Even though he was alone in the room, a low gasp occasionally escaped his pressed lips. The stimulus wasn’t enough, and his delicate face showed signs of endurance and frustration.
He had never been intimate with anyone and almost never watched porn. He was repulsed by the blatant exchange of flesh in films, so even his imagination was lacking. In times like this, he would occasionally think of a face he liked, but he couldn’t imagine what it would look like. But that was fine; he was destined to never have intimate relations with anyone.
He was a Beta, free from the distress of Alpha ruts or Omega heats. He didn’t need a partner for comfort, didn’t need to marry, and certainly would not marry.
As he neared the peak, a face flashed through his mind.
Black hair and red eyes—narrow, indifferent eyes sweeping a gaze toward him. Beautiful and cold.
Ji Yu stared at his own hand, his mouth opening and closing. In the quiet room, a low curse suddenly rang out.
Am I crazy?
He had thought of Shang Yuanzhou’s face… and finished…
It wasn’t until his palm felt a bit cold that Ji Yu snapped out of his dazed state.
He wasn’t someone prone to internal conflict, and he truly didn’t believe he had any feelings for Shang Yuanzhou. It was likely just because that face was truly beautiful—the most beautiful Ji Yu had ever seen. If Shang Yuanzhou were an Omega, suitors would likely break down his door.
But he was an Alpha—an Alpha with such strong oppression that no one dared offend him.
The expressions on Ji Yu’s refined face shifted several times. He offered a silent apology in his heart, finally attributing the cause to hearing people mention Shang Yuanzhou all night long.
Ji Yu pulled a tissue from the coffee table to wipe himself and tossed it into the trash can behind him. He was very restrained throughout the process; except for a slight mess on the sheets, he hadn’t dirtied much.
Believing he had found a logical reason, he pushed the matter to the back of his mind. He got up to close the bedroom window, then crawled back into bed and slowly fell into a deep sleep.
While asleep, Ji Yu’s features were relaxed. His cheek was pressed against the pillow, squeezing out a bit of soft cheek meat. His face was slightly flushed, looking as if vibrant rouge had been applied to his delicate features.
Shang Yuanzhou couldn’t see this scene. If he could, he would know the difference between his imagination and reality.
In the vast manor atop the mountain, Shang Yuanzhou washed away the scent of alcohol in the bathroom. From the moment he saw Ji Yu, the thoughts shouting in his mind were itching for release.
The Alpha’s eyes were closed and his brow was furrowed, looking somewhat impatient. The movements of his hand were continuous, making wet, squelching sounds.
In his mind was the scene from the cocktail party. Unlike what actually happened, in his mind, Shang Yuanzhou had walked down, and amidst Ji Yu’s shocked expression, he pinned him ruthlessly against the table and bit down hard on the back of his pale neck.
The Beta’s underdeveloped, barren gland was forcibly injected with the scent of bitter wine pheromones. He struggled in pain against the pheromones surging into his body, salty tears falling as he asked with a sob: “Who are you?”
“Have we met somewhere?”
Ji Yu was relatively tall, but under an Alpha’s suppression, there was no possibility of escape. Shang Yuanzhou covered him, able to shield Ji Yu completely beneath his own body.
Ji Yu would cry, he would hurt, and he would seek help from the people around him—but no one would dare step forward to help him.
Shang Yuanzhou would tell him to be good, or else he would strip him bare and take him in front of everyone. The poor Beta would tremble with fear, falling into despair upon realizing no one could help him.
With trembling hands, he would wrap his arms around Shang Yuanzhou’s neck, calling him “Husband,” sobbing that he would be good and obedient, and that Shang Yuanzhou could do anything to him.
Shang Yuanzhou would then take him back with satisfaction and do everything he wanted to do. The poor, exhausted Beta would slowly close his eyes and fall asleep—
In his arms.
The showerhead was turned on, the water washing away the traces on his hand. Shang Yuanzhou opened his eyes and swept back his hair. His sharp features were exceptionally keen, and the depths of his narrow eyes were dark, as if a storm were brewing.
He hadn’t originally planned to seek out Ji Yu. He had wanted to let Ji Yu go—that was his original intent.
When he learned that Ji Yu had left A-City during the summer after high school graduation, Shang Yuanzhou suppressed all his crazy thoughts. Perhaps even God wanted to spare Ji Yu, which was why He let Ji Yu leave so quickly.
Shang Yuanzhou didn’t inquire about Ji Yu. He differentiated into an Alpha, was officially recognized by the Shang family, and began to gradually take control of the family business.
His life trajectory had completely diverged into a separate line from Ji Yu’s. Even without intentionally avoiding him, he would never hear any news of Ji Yu again.
Five years had passed. He believed he had moved on. He was now the head of the Shang family, a Top-tier Alpha; he would no longer have pathological thoughts about an ordinary Beta as he did during puberty.
But seeing Ji Yu at the cocktail party—the mere hypothesis that Ji Yu might marry another Beta—made Shang Yuanzhou realize he could never calmly accept that possibility.
Ji Yu would not accept an Alpha, nor would he accept an Omega. He was categorized as the type Ji Yu would absolutely never get close to.
The moment this thought appeared, Shang Yuanzhou hoped with a stroke of luck that after five years, Ji Yu might be willing to try with an Alpha. After all, five years had passed and he had matured; he could restrain his impulses, suppress those dark and murky thoughts, and become a considerate, mature lover.
If Ji Yu still couldn’t accept an Alpha…
Shang Yuanzhou’s transformation into an Alpha and the power he possessed could also guarantee one thing—
Except for him, no one would dare approach Ji Yu.
Shang Yuanzhou had to admit that he truly wasn’t a good person. If it were impossible between him and Ji Yu, he wouldn’t let Ji Yu be with any other Beta either.
He had a pathological craving for Ji Yu—a craving that had carried a frantic possessiveness since high school.
