Chapter 2: “Am I not enough to satisfy you?”
Shen Qingyu introduced himself earnestly: “My name is Shen Qingyu, and I’m majoring in English.”
His voice was bright and clean, the tone at the end of the sentence rising slightly, giving the impression he was pouting.
Cheng Che’s gaze never left Shen Qingyu’s face from beginning to end. The way he looked utterly captivated made Shen Qingyu feel a little embarrassed.
He was used to being stared at, but this was the first time someone had looked at him with such direct, passionate, and unconcealed admiration.
Cheng Che scratched his hair. The tall, lanky youth, having met a boy who instantly captivated him, appeared somewhat clumsy, retracting his gaze awkwardly.
“Hi. So, you’re my new roommate, right?”
Shen Qingyu offered a shy smile: “Yes, that’s me. Please take care of me in the future.”
He had just showered, and a faint mist still clung to him, accompanied by slight, irregular breathing sounds. His hair was still semi-damp, the strands falling across his forehead, covering his eyebrows, but leaving his wet eyes fully visible, making Cheng Che’s heart feel mushy.
Cheng Che asked doubtfully, “Your hair… is it okay like that?”
Shen Qingyu gasped: “Ah! You reminded me, I forgot to put on my hair oil.”
“Huh?” Cheng Che tilted his head. That wasn’t what he meant at all. But seeing Shen Qingyu fluster because of his simple comment, he found it very amusing.
Shen Qingyu rummaged through his belongings and found an unopened bottle of hair oil. He seriously applied it in front of the mirror, revealing his slender, pale neck when he turned his head.
So beautiful. A hoarse, rough voice echoed in Cheng Che’s mind.
Cheng Che’s Adam’s apple bobbed a few times. “Your hair isn’t completely dry yet. Do you want to blow-dry it again?”
So thoughtful!
Compared to that rude, uncouth roommate, a roommate like Cheng Che was simply perfect!
“Then I’ll blow-dry it again,” Shen Qingyu accepted his suggestion.
Shen Qingyu went to the bathroom to dry his hair, and Cheng Che leaned by the door watching him.
Amidst the buzzing of the hairdryer, Shen Qingyu secretly peeked at him in the mirror using his peripheral vision, only to be caught red-handed. Just as he was about to look away, he saw the small mole on Cheng Che’s nose twitch when he smiled, and the sharp little canine teeth at the corner of his lips peeked out.
So cute!
Shen Qingyu felt like he was about to be captured.
Cheng Che exuded the quintessential male college student vibe!
Why hadn’t he heard of such a sunny and handsome guy in the Sports Academy before? Well, he realized, students in their major had four early-morning classes (8 AM) a week, studying from morning till night. They simply didn’t pay attention to things like the campus confession wall.
Speaking of the confession wall, in the year Shen Qingyu enrolled, it had been renamed the “Omni-Wall.” Everything from condemning thieves who stole takeout to complaining about teachers who deliberately failed students, and even creating various gossip PPTs, was more interesting to college students than confessing love to handsome guys and beautiful women.
“Have you eaten? If not, do you want to grab lunch together?” Cheng Che invited. “I know a new place in the North District that’s really good.”
“Okay, please wait for me a moment.” Shen Qingyu knew he was naturally slow, so he deliberately sped up.
Cheng Che didn’t rush him, patiently waiting for him to change clothes in the bathroom and put on his mask. After Shen Qingyu finished everything, Cheng Che obediently followed him to wait for the elevator.
It was the hottest time of the day, and the sun was so glaring that Shen Qingyu couldn’t open his eyes, lifting his arm to shield his face.
Cheng Che saw his movement and immediately had a vision of a kitten raising its paw. He stepped forward two paces, turning around to perfectly block the sun’s rays in front of him: “I’ll shield you.”
Shen Qingyu was stunned, staring blankly at him.
Downstairs, many people were feeding stray cats. The continuous “tsuk-tsuk” sound used to call the cats brought Shen Qingyu back to reality. He was allergic to cat hair, but ever since he learned that Wendai had many “official” stray cats, he had kept some cat food in his dorm and would occasionally place it down from a distance and run away.
He suddenly remembered he had forgotten to bring some cat food down with him, but judging by the current situation, this kitty (referring to Cheng Che) wouldn’t be hungry anytime soon.
Shen Qingyu smiled in relief.
Along the way, their looks and demeanor attracted many eyes. Even with the mask, Shen Qingyu’s beauty was undeniable. Cheng Che heard snippets of conversation from passersby:
“Damn, what kind of divine beauty is that?” “Even with a mask, he looks gorgeous! Is the guy next to him his boyfriend?” “No way, you’re seeing gays everywhere. Maybe they’re straight!” “Ah, that’s such a pity. Such a pretty young man should be pounced on until he cries! The guy next to him looks like he can definitely deliver.” “…Help! Stop talking nonsense! What vulgar things are you saying!” “Hehe, I’m just joking.”
Cheng Che secretly glanced at Shen Qingyu and was relieved to find he wasn’t upset by the whispers.
Outside the cafeteria, someone was handing out flyers. Before Shen Qingyu and Cheng Che got close, the person extended their hand, and a gaudy flyer was right by Shen Qingyu’s hand, so he casually took it.
Cheng Che was a bit surprised: “People handing out flyers like that are usually not students from the school.” He was subtly warning Shen Qingyu not to be scammed.
“I know, but it’s not easy for him to stand in the sun in this heat, and it’s just a simple gesture,” Shen Qingyu said. “Besides, I think collecting little flyers is fun. I have a storage book this thick at home specifically for collecting flyers.”
He spoke with enthusiasm, a proud look in his eyes.
It was the first time Cheng Che realized someone enjoyed collecting this kind of stuff. He laughed heartily and said, “Then I’ll give you any flyers I get from now on.”
Shen Qingyu’s heart skipped a beat: “…Okay.”
After eating, when the two walked out of the cafeteria, the person handing out flyers was still there. This time, Cheng Che didn’t ignore the extended hand but casually took one, imitating Shen Qingyu’s action from earlier.
A tall male student with focused eyes walked towards them. Shen Qingyu barely got a glimpse before Cheng Che suddenly waved his hand and called out, “Song Yu!”
The called student showed no expression, merely giving Cheng Che a faint sidelong glance before nodding in response. His gaze shifted downward to Shen Qingyu’s face, where it lingered for several seconds, a fleeting flicker of light jumping behind his glasses.
Shen Qingyu’s emotions were complicated, having seen three different types of handsome men in a row.
Is this what the outside world is like?
Shen Qingyu majored in a foreign language; the entire college couldn’t find many guys even with a lantern. He was used to this life. He never expected that only after moving dorms would he discover that Wendai not only had a rich variety of male students but also high quality ones.
The guy named Song Yu was also very tall and slender, like a straight green bamboo. Under the light, his cold and noble demeanor was emphasized. He wore gold-rimmed glasses over a sharp nose bridge, making it difficult to see the look in his eyes behind the lenses.
This made Shen Qingyu quite curious about him.
“Is that your friend?”
Cheng Che said, “He’s a roommate.”
It took Shen Qingyu a few seconds to process: “Your roommate is my roommate, right?”
“Yeah,” Cheng Che found his current confused look incredibly cute. He wanted to pull him into an embrace but was afraid of scaring him. “He went to the library early this morning, so you probably haven’t met him yet. Our other roommate is Lu Xiao. As long as he’s not in the room, he’s off-campus.”
“I saw him just now, right before you came back,” Shen Qingyu hesitated. “He seems difficult to get along with.”
Cheng Che heard the subtle shift in his tone and quickly reassured him: “Lu Xiao does have a bad temper.”
“Are all three of you in the same major?” The curiosity bug bit Shen Qingyu. He really wanted to know what major could produce three different types of handsome men at once!
Though he really didn’t want to admit that the guy named Lu Xiao was handsome.
Yet, Lu Xiao’s impact on him was arguably the biggest.
“No, the three of us are in different majors. Lu Xiao is in the Sino-Foreign joint program. I was admitted through the sports exam, studying basketball. As for Song Yu, I can’t quite remember his major, but he was admitted through subject adjustment and plans to transfer majors in his sophomore year.”
Shen Qingyu’s eyes widened slightly: “Can sports students also transfer to other majors?”
“He’s not a sports student. Although he’s in the Sports Academy, he was admitted through the general cultural exam,” Cheng Che patiently explained.
“I see.” That made sense. The first time Shen Qingyu saw Song Yu, he sensed a kind of purity about him that didn’t quite fit the “jock” identity.
Shen Qingyu knew many students in Wendai’s Sports Academy had participated in provincial competitions, some even joining the provincial team directly. He asked with a smile in his eyes, “Are you on the provincial team, then?”
Cheng Che slowly lowered his head, like a large dog, his tone light but tinged with noticeable disappointment: “I had an injury before, so I had to leave.”
“I’m sorry… I…”
Cheng Che quickly recovered. He looked like he had long moved past that chapter. He gently rubbed Shen Qingyu’s head and whispered, “It’s okay, it’s not your fault.”
The sudden touch sent a jolt of heat to Shen Qingyu’s head almost instantly. Fortunately, his mask covered his face, otherwise Cheng Che would definitely have seen… he was blushing.
Does he not know I’m gay… Touching my head is such a foul!
…
That evening, Shen Qingyu was scrolling on his phone in bed when a text message popped up at the top of the screen.
【My dear Yu-baby, who was that man next to you today? Am I not enough to satisfy you?】
Shen Qingyu’s delicate brows furrowed after just one glance. Without hesitation, he immediately blocked the number.
Although he had changed his phone number several times and his block list was already quite long, Shen Qingyu could still accurately determine from the tone of the message that this was the same person who had been sending him harassing texts before.
This person isn’t human, they’re an animal!
Shen Qingyu was so angry he squeezed his phone tightly.
He didn’t know how his phone number had been exposed, nor how this person knew about him, and this person seemed to be a student at Wendai.
The thought that he might be being followed by a pervert, and that this pervert might occasionally peep at him from the shadows… Shen Qingyu couldn’t help but shiver.
This was not the first time Shen Qingyu had received harassing messages. He had an account on a short-video platform with over twenty thousand followers, which he created after high school graduation, occasionally posting suggestive videos to release emotion. He didn’t add any hashtags or show his face, yet Shen Qingyu was still discovered by some people.
In the words of his fans:
【Little Feather is truly a hidden gem streamer, I love him! /heart He doesn’t take my money, he just purely steals my heart.】
When he logged into his account, he would always see women and men making bold comments in the comment section. Most of these comments were from women, simply joking and expressing their affection for him.
【Little Feather, come do a live battle! Auntie just got paid and wants to buy you two sports cars. /lust】 【If that fails, why don’t you sell stuff and earn some money from me? I really don’t want to live a life where I can’t see my wife when I open my phone, it’s too painful.】 【”It’s only right to spend money on my wife! That’s the code of good women.” /cool /cigarette】
But Shen Qingyu’s DMs were a disaster. They were filled with harassing messages from various creepy men. Shen Qingyu used to block them one by one at first, but later he just stopped looking. Anyway, he didn’t use the account often, posting a couple of videos a month that didn’t show his face, only his waist, as a sort of fan service.
The door opened with a sound. Shen Qingyu curiously pulled back his curtain, rested his head on the railing, and looked down, meeting Song Yu’s pale-colored pupils.
Song Yu, who had returned for lunch and then gone back to the library to study, was just getting back now. He closed the door, raised his eyelids, and subtly looked at Shen Qingyu’s chest, which was exposed because he was leaning down. He licked his back teeth, then took off his glasses and walked straight to his desk.
Shen Qingyu was ignored again, which surprised him a little. He wasn’t narcissistic, but he was quite confident in himself, and few people could manage to completely disregard his presence.
“Lu Xiao isn’t back yet. I should give him a call. It’s Wednesday today, and Director Yuan might come to check the dorms.” Cheng Che had swapped his chair for a comfortable gaming chair, resting his head on it with his headphones hanging around his neck. He glanced back in Shen Qingyu’s direction and immediately sat upright when he saw him leaning over the railing.
Song Yu gave a soft “Mm.”
Shen Qingyu checked the time. It was almost 10:30 PM, the time when the dorms locked up. Wendai’s dorms locked the doors promptly at 10:30 PM and turned off the lights at 11:00 PM, with only the final exam study week extending the lights-out time to midnight. He carefully climbed down the cold ladder, thinking he should buy anti-slip mats online to stick on the steps later.
If someone was caught during the dorm check for not returning at night, the entire dorm would lose points. Shen Qingyu’s previous dorm always performed well, consistently getting the highest scores. The “Excellent Dorm” certificate was still displayed in their old room.
Just as Shen Qingyu was brushing his teeth in the bathroom, the door was violently yanked open.
Lu Xiao swaggered up to the urinal, unzipped his pants, and proceeded to relieve himself.
Shen Qingyu was startled by his action. Foam that he hadn’t managed to spit out clung to his cheek, making him look somewhat distressed.
“You! What are you doing!”
The humiliating sound of flowing water was very loud, demonstrating the boy’s complete bodily function. Lu Xiao didn’t zip up his pants after finishing, and when he turned around, Shen Qingyu could still see the edge of his black underwear.
“Can’t you tell? I’m using the restroom.”
“You!” Shen Qingyu’s lips trembled with anger. “Don’t you have any manners? I’m washing up in the bathroom, and you just unzip… unzip your pants!”
“We’re all guys; what’s the big deal about unzipping my pants to use the bathroom?” Lu Xiao casually pushed him aside to wash his hands. “Oh, I forgot you’re gay. Did it… did it turn you on?” He burst into laughter, his eyes moving downwards with ill intent.
“You’re sick!” This was the most powerful curse Shen Qingyu could think of, but it was like an ear scratch to Lu Xiao.
He shook his hands dry and said, “It’s your fault for dawdling in here for so long. I thought you fell in the toilet, like a sissy.”
Shen Qingyu’s eyes went wide. He retorted immediately: “What, weren’t you born by a sissy?”
Lu Xiao’s face instantly changed. He took his hand off the doorknob, turned around, and stared down at him menacingly.
“Say that again?”
Shen Qingyu saw a hint of sorrow in his dark eyes, but more overwhelmingly, anger that was about to explode. He took two steps back, his lower back hitting the sink, and stuttered, “W-what are you looking at? You said something to me first.”
Lu Xiao’s expression was utterly ferocious. His features were already sharp, and his wide-eyed rage was truly frightening.
Hearing the argument in the bathroom, Cheng Che knocked on the door immediately. Getting no response, he decisively pushed the door open. He saw Lu Xiao’s tall, muscular body blocking Shen Qingyu. The difference in their size was striking. Shen Qingyu looked like a severely bullied rabbit, all bristled up, ready to lash out with sharp claws at Lu Xiao’s face the next second.
Cheng Che pulled Lu Xiao away. “What are you doing? Don’t scare him.”
