After Seducing and Abandoning the Untouchable Beauty - Chapter 6
Chapter 6: Controlling Desire
The restroom.
Bai Yinqing splashed his face with cold water, and the sense of discomfort receded slightly.
He looked at himself calmly in the mirror. After waiting a moment, he took a pack of medicine out of his pocket.
He popped out two pills, tilted his head back expressionlessly, and swallowed.
After taking the medication, Bai Yinqing felt much better—or perhaps it was just a psychological effect. But at the very least, that strange discomfort was no longer so intense that it couldn’t be ignored.
The break time was short. The sound of assembly came from outside. Just as Bai Yinqing was preparing to head to the gathering point, he saw another tall figure in the mirror.
He didn’t know when Yu Weinian had arrived. The other man stood not far away, his expression hesitant, wavering.
The sun was fierce, yet he wore a micro-turtleneck long-sleeve. After being exposed to the heat, a faint flush floated on his snow-white cheeks, and even the gaze he directed over carried a hint of a watery sheen.
“Student Bai, are you alright?” Yu Weinian maintained his distance. “Are you sick?”
Bai Yinqing thought expressionlessly: As expected, he saw.
“I didn’t mean to peek. I was just afraid you were unhappy, so I followed to check…” Yu Weinian showed an expression akin to sadness. “I’m really not lying.”
Bai Yinqing: “Afraid I was unhappy?”
Yu Weinian: “Yes. After all, not everyone can accept homosexuality. I can’t force others to accept it, but I don’t want to lie.”
He lifted his eyes. “And I don’t want to deceive you.”
Yu Weinian was born with a pair of deceptive eyes. When he gazed at someone, it always gave off the illusion of being deeply affectionate and incredibly earnest, making it hard for one to doubt his sincerity.
“…” Bai Yinqing said, “I’m not unhappy.”
He added, “It has nothing to do with me.”
Yu Weinian’s joy lasted less than a second before his heart plummeted. Bai Yinqing really was a purebred straight man; he had zero emotional intelligence in his speech.
However, it was also possible that in Bai Yinqing’s eyes, he was simply an insignificant person who didn’t warrant any emotional fluctuation.
“So, Student Bai, are you sick?” Yu Weinian asked with concern. “I saw you take medicine.”
But he hadn’t seen clearly what kind of medicine it was. He only saw that the blister pack was almost empty, suggesting Bai Yinqing took it often.
Bai Yinqing: “Allergy medicine.”
He seemed unwilling to discuss the topic further, his expression and tone becoming cold and heavy. “Next time, you don’t need to follow me. It’s an unnecessary move.”
If it were anyone else, repeatedly receiving a cold face from Bai Yinqing would have made them retreat long ago. But Yu Weinian loved a challenge; he was the type who became more courageous the more setbacks he faced.
“Wait.” Yu Weinian called out to Bai Yinqing. “Actually, I followed you not just because I was worried something was wrong, but also because I was afraid you’d misunderstand.”
Bai Yinqing indeed stopped in his tracks. “Misunderstand?”
“Because, well… there are some rumors,” Yu Weinian said tactfully. Since Yuan Heyi had proactively asked about it, it meant Yuan Heyi must have heard something. Being in the same dorm, Bai Yinqing would surely find out sooner or later.
Yu Weinian wasn’t sure exactly how much they knew. There were far too many rumors about him. Some posts on the forums were quite extreme, describing him as a heinous scumbag who toyed with feelings—much of the content was exaggerated fantasy.
The people who posted those were mostly failures whose lives weren’t going well, who weren’t competitive in the dating pool, and who had no money in their pockets. So he didn’t care; he usually read them as a joke.
But reading them as a joke was one thing; having Bai Yinqing know about them was another.
Fortunately, Bai Yinqing truly seemed to have no idea. “Rumors?”
“Just some rumors about my romantic history. Many people say I’m fickle, like to toy with emotions, and am a scumbag who deserves to be cursed. But I’ve only had a few relationships, and I was serious in every one of them…”
If you really asked Yu Weinian exactly how many times he had been in love, he couldn’t say. It was like if someone asked him how many sports cars he had—he couldn’t give an exact number.
His private garages were filled with the sports cars he collected; many limited-edition models could be seen there. Because there were so many, he hired a professional engineering team. There was a dedicated maintenance area at the back of the garage, and the engineers performed comprehensive maintenance on his cars every day.
And he had more than a dozen private garages, large and small, both at home and abroad.
But Yu Weinian wasn’t lying; he had indeed only had “a few” relationships.
Any number greater than two can be summarized as “a few,” right?
Yu Weinian showed a victimized expression. “But I’m already this age. Many of my friends already have their second child. It’s quite normal for me to have had a few relationships, isn’t it?”
“Many of the rumors are just gossip; they’re all false.” He said sincerely, “Actually, I’m very devoted when it comes to feelings.”
Bai Yinqing had no interest in the truth of these words. “Does what you’re saying have anything to do with me?”
Even if Yu Weinian really were a scumbag who liked to toy with feelings, it had nothing to do with him.
“It doesn’t have anything to do with you, but I’m afraid you’ll misunderstand—misunderstand that I’m a person of bad character, a piece of trash.” Yu Weinian made it sound quite convincing. His gaze was earnest and innocent, and because of his overly direct words, it carried a hint of clumsy sincerity. “Student Bai, I have quite a good impression of you. Can we be friends?”
“Actually, I don’t have many friends.”
Not many friends? This was truly a joke. Yu Weinian was a master at dealing with people; with his striking looks and easygoing personality, any occasion could become his social playground.
And yet, he actually said he had no friends?
A hint of sarcasm appeared in Bai Yinqing’s eyes, his cold gaze seemingly seeing through everything. He didn’t speak, only silently looked at Yu Weinian.
“Those people don’t count.” Yu Weinian naturally knew what Bai Yinqing was thinking. “Fair-weather friends aren’t real friends. And those people, to put it bluntly, are just drinking buddies… There’s too much pressure in society today; one always needs to find something to vent.”
Yu Weinian reasonably attributed his bar-hopping and other behaviors to “pressure.” But Bai Yinqing was no fool, nor was he the type of idiot who would be deceived by these few words.
“High pressure, so you use alcohol to vent?” A low voice sounded, cold and devoid of emotion. Bai Yinqing used a tone of stating facts. “The biggest difference between humans and animals is that humans can control their desires. What is the difference between a person who can’t even restrain their desires and a beast?”
“Isn’t having desires a very normal thing? Why should I suppress them? I don’t feel ashamed because I have desires.” Yu Weinian said solemnly, “Besides, I only drink. I release pressure and gain happiness from alcohol. The bar owner makes money. I haven’t broken the law, nor have I violated any morals. I haven’t hurt anyone. I’ve only satisfied my own desires. What did I do wrong?”
Bai Yinqing froze, not knowing how to rebut. He was young, after all, and didn’t have much experience dealing with people.
Finally, he coldly spat out two words: “Sophistry.”
Bai Yinqing was clearly a bit shaken, yet he ultimately chose to remain stubborn—this look was truly cute in Yu Weinian’s eyes.
“Desire is a human instinct. There is nothing wrong with seeking pleasure. Why live so miserably?”
Yu Weinian slowly approached Bai Yinqing. Bai Yinqing didn’t avoid him, which made him bolder, moving even closer.
He tilted his face, his long, thick eyelashes fluttering under the interlaced light and shadow. Between his words, an indescribable hint of ambiguity leaked out. “Furthermore, does extreme control of desire really work?”
Bai Yinqing lowered his eyelids.
The voice in his ear continued.
“Every time you successfully suppress a desire, that desire doesn’t decrease; it only grows several times over in places you can’t see. The more you fear it, the more you avoid it, the more you will crave it in the depths of your heart.”
“Long-term extreme restraint will only lead to development in an uncontrollable direction. The final result is always a backlash.”
Perhaps because Bai Yinqing’s current expression was so interesting, Yu Weinian’s tone gained a bit of flippancy. He tilted his face up, meeting the sunlight and looking straight into Bai Yinqing’s eyes. “Student Bai, don’t you know? Restraint itself is a form of nurturing behavior.”
Only then did Bai Yinqing realize they were standing very close. Through the mirror directly in front of him, he saw Yu Weinian standing before him. Perhaps because he was wearing the military camouflage uniform, Yu Weinian’s figure looked very thin by comparison; the difference in body size was exceptionally obvious.
His back was very thin, and his waist was even more slender. His straight legs were long, and his exposed ankles were delicate, as if they could be easily circled by a single hand.
“Have you said enough?”
Bai Yinqing spat out the cold and clear words. His eyes were dark and heavy, devoid of emotion. Yet, one could sense that he was not very happy right now.
Is he angry already? Is Bai Yinqing really this petty?
Yu Weinian felt like he was seeing another side of Bai Yinqing; he found it incredibly novel. “Student Bai, from childhood to now, you must have had some desires, right?”
Every human has desires, and Bai Yinqing was no exception.
Bai Yinqing: “I can discipline myself.”
“Every time?”
“Every time.”
Yu Weinian didn’t believe it. Bai Yinqing had a cold and indifferent face, but he knew exactly what kind of species men were. They were both men; what was he trying to pull here?
“Student Bai, don’t tell me that in all the years you’ve been alive, you’ve never ‘solved it’ yourself.” Yu Weinian hummed with a laugh. “You relied on self-discipline every single time?”
Bai Yinqing: “What?”
Yu Weinian looked at Bai Yinqing with a half-smile.
Bai Yinqing didn’t understand at first, but Yu Weinian’s gaze flickered intermittently—like a small hook—sliding over his thin lips, his Adam’s apple, glancing suggestively downward, and letting out an ambiguous laugh.
He instantly understood what this meant. His expression turned cold in a flash. He turned to leave, only to be pulled back by a warm, soft hand.
“I was joking, don’t be angry.” Yu Weinian didn’t expect Bai Yinqing to be so easily teased. “I want to be friends with you. That’s the truth.”
“You are very special. You’re different from any other guy I know…”
Bai Yinqing remained unmoved. “I’m nothing special.”
“Is that so? But you always give me a very special feeling.” Yu Weinian suddenly leaned in close. His aura dominantly entangled the two of them. Strands of fragrance seeped out from his warm skin, making Bai Yinqing’s entire body stiffen. Just as he was about to reach out and push him away, Yu Weinian’s words made him pause instantly.
“Although you are excellent and used to being alone, I always feel that you are using your exterior to disguise—no, to protect yourself. Actually, in the depths of your heart, you desperately crave someone to understand you…”
Bai Yinqing’s gaze turned cold abruptly. He slapped Yu Weinian’s hand away. “You think you know me very well?”
“Did I say something wrong?” Yu Weinian pulled his hand back aggrievedly. “I don’t lie, and that really is my sincere thought.”
“If I was wrong, can you give me a chance to get to know you again?”
Their eyes met, and a subtle atmosphere spread between them during the gaze.
Finally, Bai Yinqing’s thin lips moved slightly.
“Don’t be so full of yourself.”
