After Seducing and Abandoning the Untouchable Beauty - Chapter 5
Chapter 5: Severe Homophobia
“Add me on WeChat,” Bai Yinqing said. “The Academic Affairs teacher told me to contact you.”
Yu Weinian acted as if he had only just realized he still had this errand to run. His finger swiped across the screen. “I almost forgot about that. Luckily you reminded me.”
“Student Bai, please scan me.”
In matters of official business, Bai Yinqing’s efficiency was always high.
Yu Weinian got his wish as he saw the small red dot appear in the address book column. After clicking to approve, the corners of his eyes curved slightly.
“Goodbye then, Student Bai.”
Just as Yu Weinian left the dormitory, Bai Yinqing received a string of forms and notifications. Yu Weinian pulled him into a WeChat group chat and thoughtfully forwarded the history of messages to him.
Yu Weinian: (Forwarded Notification)
Yu Weinian: Remember to go to the classroom tonight to take photos. Just wear a normal white shirt and black pants. As for the video, they’ll call you out during military training; there’s nothing you need to prepare.
Bai Yinqing: Okay.
Yu Weinian replied with an “OK” hand gesture and didn’t continue the conversation. This point, instead, gave Bai Yinqing a decent impression.
He had been worried that a “self-familiar” person like Yu Weinian would try to chat about domestic trifles over WeChat.
Aside from family and teachers, Bai Yinqing didn’t even have many WeChat friends. He didn’t like chatting and was too lazy to deal with insignificant people.
It wasn’t that Yu Weinian didn’t want to chat with Bai Yinqing to build rapport, but rather that he had a schedule to keep later.
At the start of the semester, there were always inexplicable gatherings—one person treats today, another treats tomorrow. Since several of his childhood friends specifically came to find him, he couldn’t refuse to give them face.
Yu Weinian took a nap. After waking up, he went to keep his appointment.
At a booth near the DJ station, a tall figure was hidden in the shadows.
As the chaotic lights flickered and fell, Yu Weinian leaned against the velvet couch like he had no bones. His sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, and two buttons of his shirt were undone, revealing thin, smooth collarbones. He nonchalantly toyed with an enamel lighter at his fingertips; the flame flickered, casual and lazy.
He had arrived early and didn’t want to be disturbed, so he sat there alone. It wasn’t the peak of the atmosphere yet, and there weren’t many people in the bar. But anyone passing by would stop and linger near him.
Before long, someone gathered the courage to strike up a conversation—an elite-looking man dressed elegantly and refined.
“Are you alone?” He smiled at Yu Weinian and looked at the dice cup on the table. “Want to play for a bit?”
Since he was free anyway, Yu Weinian lowered his legs. “Sure.”
The elite man placed the dice cup in front of Yu Weinian, signaling for him to go first.
Yu Weinian wasn’t polite either. His slender white fingers gripped the dark dice cup with a very skilled technique, clearly a veteran player of the nightclub scene. The variegated lights shifted over his hands, and his facial features were highlighted by the light to a state of perfect flawlessness—he was truly a top-tier catch.
Yu Weinian set down the dice cup. Before he could even see the numbers on the dice, the elite man suddenly leaned in. “Has anyone ever told you that your eyes are very beautiful?”
Yu Weinian looked back with great interest. He didn’t even look at the dice numbers anymore; instead, his fingers rested on a transparent glass wine cup, taking a slow sip. While the elite man was caught off guard, he suddenly leaned in close, pressing the advantage.
The elite man instinctively backed away, only to be blocked by Yu Weinian in the corner of the booth. The scent of alcohol combined with another fragrance dominantly invaded his territory.
Seen up close, no faults could be found in Yu Weinian’s face. However, because they were so close, one could see these beautiful eyes clearly—the corners turned upward, the lashes long and thick. His features had a hint of danger and indifference that made one want to approach as if bewitched.
“Everyone who has met me says that.” Yu Weinian blinked slowly, his composed gaze carrying a bit of disdain, yet also resembling flirtation, making one long to explore its deeper meaning.
These words were like a lure. The elite man stared at the face inches away, his exposed skin beginning to burn from excitement. Before he could make any reaction, Yu Weinian pulled back the distance and leaned back.
“Do you want to add my WeChat…” Before he could finish his sentence, several new faces appeared at the booth, all looking unfriendly.
The leader among them was today’s host, Chu Xiangyi.
Chu Xiangyi chased the person away with a cold face: “That’s enough.”
Now that Yu Weinian’s friends had arrived and he had had his fun, he naturally wouldn’t pay attention to a pastime used only to kill time.
He didn’t see the elite man’s despondent face. Instead, he displeasedly slapped away a hand reaching toward him. “You took so long to get here.”
“Can’t be helped. There were things to handle at school, and the traffic nearby was jammed.” Hang Yue sat down, asking curiously, “Isn’t the freshman representative supposed to take photos tonight? Why didn’t you go along?”
Yu Weinian had been busy catching up on sleep. He said, “He’s taking his photos, what would I go there for?”
Hang Yue didn’t understand. Why did Yu Weinian seem not to be in a hurry at all?
Compared to his past vigorous pursuit methods that felt like home invasion, many of Yu Weinian’s current behaviors were too “peaceful.”
Chu Xiangyi let out a “tch.” This remark was directed at Hang Yue: “Don’t you know him well enough? Our playboy Yu Weinian, how could he really settle down for someone?”
Yu Weinian raised his eyebrow and lifted his glass toward him.
“You haven’t seen him; he’s exactly the type Weinian would really like.” Hang Yue didn’t continue that topic, turning instead to Yu Weinian. “So, do you want to get back together with that guy?”
Yu Weinian thought for a moment and asked, “Which one?”
Chu Xiangyi made a “wow” sound of amazement, and Yu Weinian kicked him. Only then did Chu Xiangyi make a zipping motion over his mouth.
Hang Yue said helplessly, “The one who looked for you today.”
When Hang Yue had called Yu Weinian out of the classroom during the freshman morning self-study, it was for this matter. One of Yu Weinian’s exes was still obsessed with him and wanted to use Hang Yue as a “middleman” to reconcile.
But how could Hang Yue have such great ability?
“Oh, him.” Yu Weinian remembered now—the ex who invited him for a drink in the corridor today. He said, “No. I’m pursuing someone.”
“I don’t do that immoral business of two-timing.”
Chu Xiangyi applauded. “A scumbag with principles.”
With Hang Yue mentioning it, Yu Weinian recalled it. When he was called out of the classroom today, a tall, handsome guy had familiarly draped an arm over his shoulder. First, he expressed concern about Yu Weinian’s recent relationship status, and after learning he was single, asked if he wanted to come out for a drink.
He remembered this person; after all, he was an ex who was “presentable.” Ordinarily, he would have agreed, but at the time, his mind was entirely on getting close to Bai Yinqing, so he perfunctorily refused.
What reason did he use?
Yu Weinian couldn’t remember clearly. It wasn’t important. The ex hadn’t pestered him either, only saying they should meet up next time there was a chance.
Occasionally going out to play with an ex really wasn’t a big deal to him. What he found most annoying was persistent, clingy behavior after a breakup.
Everyone is an adult. Can’t we just part on good terms?
As Yu Weinian was thinking this, his eyelid suddenly twitched. He quickly bent down, hiding himself in the shadows of the booth.
Hang Yue: “?”
“Holy shit,” Yu Weinian whispered. “I’m slipping out first. Duan You is here.”
Speak of the ex-boyfriend, and the ex-boyfriend appears.
Duan You was Yu Weinian’s most recent boyfriend, the “School Grass” of the Art College. Yu Weinian had spent quite a bit of effort to catch him.
However, after they got together, Duan You had heard rumors about Yu Weinian’s playboy past and was determined to make him “turn over a new leaf.” Not only did he try to interfere with his social circle, but he also wanted to move in with him.
Yu Weinian dated to be happy, but Duan You made him unhappy, so he initiated the breakup.
Who would have thought this one would be hard to shake? After he proposed the breakup, he originally intended to part as friends, but Duan You was dead set on reconciling. He would camp out to wait for Yu Weinian every day for no reason. That clinginess was enough to scare even him.
Yu Weinian really didn’t want to waste time with Duan You. He crouched low and, before Duan You arrived, casually snatched a friend’s car keys.
“I’m leaving first.” He fled. “Remember to cover for me.”
Just as Yu Weinian left, Duan You arrived aggressively. The dance floor lights swept from not far away, clearly illuminating his sharp-featured eyes and brows. His features were deep and handsome, giving off a cold and distant aura when he was expressionless.
None of Yu Weinian’s exes were unpresentable.
Inside the noisy, raucous bar, Duan You stood there motionless. “Where is Yu Weinian?”
“I don’t know.” Chu Xiangyi said in a cavalier manner, “Today is my event. Did Weinian come? Hang Yue, did you see Weinian?”
Hang Yue: “I didn’t see him.”
“I just saw him.” Duan You looked at Hang Yue, his eyes gloomy. “Hang Yue, stop faking it.”
Hang Yue replied nonchalantly, “What am I faking? Weinian really isn’t here. If you want to ask me, you’d be better off circling his college a couple of times; you might even run into him.”
The dim, obscure light formed dark, chilling shadows on Duan You’s face. He stared at Hang Yue as if trying his best to restrain his anger. He checked carefully; there was no place to hide in the booth. Yu Weinian was indeed not there.
Only then did he leave.
Freshman military training started very early. Yu Weinian had also intended to get up early, but unfortunately, he simply couldn’t get out of bed.
Yu Weinian sent a message to Bai Yinqing.
—— You’re starting military training, right? Have you prepared sunscreen and insoles? I have extras here, I’ll bring them over to you.
A whole page of the screen was filled with green message bubbles. They were all messages he had sent.
Bai Yinqing hadn’t replied to a single one.
Yu Weinian didn’t care. He forwarded this message to Yuan Heyi, Ke Ya, Yao Zhou, and the others; they were in the same dorm, so someone would eventually see it.
The strange thing was, the normally talkative and extroverted Yuan Heyi only replied with a reserved “Okay” this time.
Half an hour ago, at the training ground.
Under the vast, clear sky was a sea of orderly dark green.
The morning sunlight in September was scorching. Before long, the freshmen’s military uniforms were soaked with sweat. Cool herbal tea stations were set up in many places around the field. During break time, students swarmed up, lining up to get water.
Bai Yinqing was still in line. His body proportions were superior; with his belt fastened, the advantages of his broad shoulders and narrow waist were even more prominent.
In front of him, his two roommates finished getting their tea, each holding two disposable cups.
“Student Bai, we helped get some for you too.” Ke Ya said, “Let’s go find some shade nearby? Yao Zhou went to grab a spot in the shade.”
Bai Yinqing didn’t like troubling others, but they were his roommates after all—they’d be seeing each other every day.
He nodded slightly. After thanking them, he walked with Ke Ya and Yuan Heyi toward the shade.
Once they reached the shade, Yuan Heyi sat on the ground without much regard for his image. “This military training is too torturous.”
Yao Zhou: “Yeah, I barely had any PE classes in all three years of high school.”
“Ke Ya, what are you looking at?” Yuan Heyi asked, seeing Ke Ya looking around.
Ke Ya answered softly, “I don’t think I’ve seen Senior Yu.”
The student mentors for other classes were all nearby, yet the mentor for their class was missing. Yao Zhou pushed his glasses up. “It does seem like Senior Yu isn’t here.”
Ke Ya: “It’s so early, he’s probably still catching up on sleep.”
Just as he spoke, a conversation of moderate volume came from the other side. “Hey? How come the mentor for the class next door, Yu Weinian, didn’t come today?”
It was the class next to theirs.
“What? You’ve got your eye on him?” The speaker glanced at the other person and mocked ruthlessly, “Give it up. It says on the forums that Senior Yu’s exes are each more handsome than the last. He has very high standards; ordinary men can’t catch his eye at all… Someone like you, if you don’t spend a million or so on major plastic surgery, I’m afraid you won’t even be able to get close to his booth.”
“It’s understandable though. Senior Yu looks like that; it wouldn’t be fitting for him to date an ugly guy…”
They were joking and laughing.
The person being teased wasn’t angry either, instead self-deprecating with good self-awareness: “Well, you can’t be sure. Maybe Senior Yu has dated too many handsome guys and wants to try an ugly guy like me?”
They laughed even louder.
They were not too far nor too close, but it was at least close enough for Bai Yinqing and the others to catch the key information. Bai Yinqing drank his water calmly. After learning that Yu Weinian was gay, he surprisingly didn’t feel surprised at all.
It made sense. Someone who dolled himself up so exquisitely every day, as beautiful as a peacock spreading its tail—it was normal for his sexual orientation to be men.
Ke Ya was also stunned, then silently lowered his head to drink water, pretending he hadn’t heard anything.
Yao Zhou’s attitude was similar to Ke Ya’s. Only Yuan Heyi had a particularly large reaction.
“Holy shit? For real?” Yuan Heyi’s eyes widened. “The Senior is… is bent?”
Yao Zhou found his reaction baffling. “What era is this? Are you discriminating against gay people?”
In a high-level academic institution, thoughts were open; what was a same-sex orientation? Some people were attracted to animals, plants, or were even asexual.
Yuan Heyi: “It’s not discrimination, I’m just… just very surprised!” He scratched his messy hair. “I don’t know how to explain it.”
Ke Ya said in a low voice, “Maybe you just never thought a gay person would appear right beside you?”
“Right, right, that’s what I mean.” Yuan Heyi said.
Bai Yinqing didn’t understand why everyone around him was so keen on discussing Yu Weinian, and now it was Yu Weinian’s sexuality.
He had no interest. Even if Yu Weinian liked a tree, it had nothing to do with him.
A commotion came from a distance. Bai Yinqing heard the name “Yu Weinian” once again.
Someone was shouting excitedly. His brow furrowed; he didn’t look toward the source of the sound, yet the person was already slowly approaching.
Mottled tree shadows fell on Yu Weinian through the gaps in the leaves, his face shifting between light and dark, the scene hazy and soft.
Different from his usual high-fashion outfits, today he wore only a simple black micro-turtleneck long-sleeve. It was tailored to fit, outlining the perfect curves of his physique. Nothing was exposed, yet because of his beautiful face and superior figure, it was indescribably sexy.
Yu Weinian was a person with great taste. His daily outfits were approached from multiple aspects like color coordination and material luster; his aesthetic was excellent.
From his hair to his toes, every detail was exquisite.
Many people were looking at him, taking candid photos. A group followed behind Yu Weinian, distributing cold drinks to relieve the heat, as well as sunscreen, insoles, and heatstroke prevention medicine.
Yu Weinian sat down naturally beside Bai Yinqing. “Hello, Student Bai, we meet again.”
After the simple greeting, he looked at the dazed Yuan Heyi. “What’s with the expression? Are you stupid?”
Yuan Heyi: “No, no.”
Yu Weinian’s sitting posture was casual, his legs spread naturally, making it inevitable for his knee to touch Bai Yinqing’s thigh.
Bai Yinqing moved his leg away, but Yu Weinian, as if oblivious to his avoidance, leaned his leg against him again.
Bai Yinqing’s brow tightened. His gaze slowly traveled down from Yu Weinian’s thin back to his narrow waist, finally settling on Yu Weinian’s hand.
It was a very beautiful hand.
A thin layer of skin and flesh covered long, distinct bones; the knuckles were slender and elegant without losing a sense of structure.
Bai Yinqing moved his eyes away imperceptibly. He was a bit thirsty; he took a sip of water but forgot that the water in his cup had already reached the bottom.
The sun was too intense, yet Yu Weinian was still very close to him. The heat radiating from his body made Bai Yinqing feel increasingly uncomfortable all over.
“You haven’t said yet, what happened?” Yu Weinian half-jokingly asked. “You aren’t speaking ill of me, are you?”
“Of course not! How could that be?” Yuan Heyi shook his head immediately. He heard Yu Weinian hum a laugh, clearly not believing what he said.
He was anxious and nervous. After hesitating repeatedly, he said carefully, “Senior, do you…”
“Like guys?”
The voice wasn’t loud, just enough for Bai Yinqing’s group to hear.
What was meant to come had finally come.
Yu Weinian had long expected this day. After all, his reputation preceded him; anyone who searched for him online would know his rich romantic history.
“What?” With his elbow on his knee and the heel of his hand supporting his chin, Yu Weinian turned and asked back, “Are you homophobic?”
“No…”
“Yes, I like guys.” Yu Weinian interrupted. His tone was casual, as if merely answering an unimportant question. “I’m gay.”
Silence fell, with only the sound of the wind blowing slowly.
The wind carried Yu Weinian’s hair backward, some of it brushing against Bai Yinqing’s face, carrying a faint fragrance.
Yu Weinian was constantly monitoring Bai Yinqing’s reaction.
Those pitch-black eyes contained an inexplicable emotion; Bai Yinqing’s brow was tightly knit. He seemed to be struggling to suppress some kind of malice that was about to overflow.
Finally, as if having endured to his limit, he stood up and walked toward the bathroom without looking back.
The wind stopped, and the scorching heat of the summer fell heavily.
Yu Weinian had originally intended to slowly build up favorability, starting as “brothers.” He planned to wait for Bai Yinqing to get used to his presence before transitioning from brothers to lovers.
But since someone had asked about his sexuality, he might as well lay it all out now. His orientation wasn’t a secret, and lying would be meaningless.
Who would have thought Bai Yinqing’s reaction would be so large.
Although Bai Yinqing hadn’t said anything explicit, all his instinctive reactions sent a clear signal.
He was repulsed by homosexuality—more than just a little bit.
