After Seducing and Abandoning the Untouchable Beauty - Chapter 13
Chapter 13: Flirting
Yu Weinian’s clothes and hair were in disarray, with the tips of his hair damp with sweat against his forehead. Even while pressed down, temporarily occupying the lower position, he remained perfectly composed.
He seemed well aware of his superior physical condition and didn’t mind using his appearance to gain an advantage. He unashamedly displayed his strengths, meeting Bai Yinqing’s blunt gaze head-on. He deliberately exposed his fragile Adam’s apple and neck to the line of sight, like a predator’s trap disguised during a hunt.
“Have you made up your mind?”
The answer was obvious. If Bai Yinqing had no feelings for him at all, he wouldn’t have returned in the first place, much less performed a series of inconceivable actions.
Bai Yinqing gazed at Yu Weinian, the emotions in his eyes gradually deepening. Then, he slowly stood up: “The dorms have a curfew.”
Yu Weinian was incredulous: “You’re leaving?”
The atmosphere had built up to this point, and Bai Yinqing was going back to the dorm? All because of that damn curfew?
But tonight was truly an unexpected windfall. At the very least, Yu Weinian could confirm that Bai Yinqing was not a “pure-bred” straight man and was not entirely without thoughts about him. Since he could confirm this point, everything following would be easy to handle.
“Fine.” He deliberately kept his face cold, putting on an unhappy expression. “You go then.”
After Yu Weinian finished speaking, he suddenly coughed for a moment, the corners of his eyes turning slightly red from the irritation. Bai Yinqing, conversely, did not leave.
Bai Yinqing stood by the sofa; after a moment of silence, he went to the kitchen and poured a glass of warm water: “Drink some water.”
Yu Weinian stared at Bai Yinqing for a moment before placing his hand on the back of Bai Yinqing’s hand. Seeing that Bai Yinqing didn’t dodge, he then used both hands to steady Bai Yinqing’s hand, lowering his head to take a sip of water.
He only drank a little before letting go.
Ripples danced on the surface of the water in the glass. Yu Weinian said: “You should go. I’m going to take a shower.”
Bai Yinqing: “Don’t you know you shouldn’t shower after drinking?”
Yu Weinian looked aggrieved: “I really didn’t know. No one told me.”
Bai Yinqing clearly didn’t believe him; Yu Weinian was never short of people around him. Sensing his thoughts, Yu Weinian added, “Those are just fair-weather friends for fun. No one truly cares about me, except you…”
“You are different.”
Bai Yinqing: “Stop saying those kinds of things to me so casually.”
Yu Weinian: “I’m not being casual. I’m being very serious.”
“You’ll regret it later.”
“I never regret the things I do.”
Whether it was Yu Weinian’s imagination or not, Bai Yinqing’s pupils seemed to constrict for a moment, a state similar to a wild animal locking onto prey, revealing a stillness like the temporary pause in a storm.
Bai Yinqing did not speak, which in Yu Weinian’s ears sounded more like a change in attitude, a form of tacit consent. Yu Weinian grabbed Bai Yinqing’s wrist: “Then does this mean you agree to let me pursue you?”
Bai Yinqing’s earlobes turned red, yet his face remained as calm as water.
Yu Weinian’s wicked hunter’s instinct flared up again. Indeed, he liked this type—Bai Yinqing had a significant contrast between his internal and external self, giving him a strong sense of conquest.
“Bai Yinqing? Yinqing?” Yu Weinian acted like a rogue. “If you don’t speak, I’ll take it as you agreeing to let me chase you.”
Bai Yinqing: “Would it matter if I refused?”
“No,” Yu Weinian said without hesitation. “Even if you reject me a thousand or ten thousand times, I still won’t give up.”
Bai Yinqing went back to his silent treatment. Yu Weinian was used to it; he had realized that Bai Yinqing’s words were useless—he had to observe his expressions and behaviors, then adapt to the actual situation.
To put it simply: it didn’t matter what Bai Yinqing was like; it all depended on what Yu Weinian wanted. Yu Weinian’s thoughts were the standard answer.
“But, you aren’t really frigid, are you?” He couldn’t play along with a Platonic relationship.
Bai Yinqing suddenly glanced at Yu Weinian. He didn’t answer, but went to the kitchen to wash the water glass.
Yu Weinian wanted Bai Yinqing to stay over tonight, but this apartment only had one bedroom. Unless he made Bai Yinqing sleep on the sofa, he’d have to share a bed with him. Bai Yinqing clearly wouldn’t agree to the latter.
Bai Yinqing had no intention of staying over. With all the back-and-forth pestering from Yu Weinian, the dorm lights had already been extinguished. He ended up getting a room near the school to deal with the night.
The next morning, Bai Yinqing returned to the dormitory building early. Because he returned so early, he almost bumped into Yu Weinian’s delivery person.
The runner helping Yu Weinian deliver breakfast was named Song Lin, a senior to Bai Yinqing. They lived in the same dorm building but on different floors, making breakfast delivery quite convenient.
This morning, Song Lin woke up early to queue at the cafeteria for breakfast. After buying it, he tucked a greeting card into the bag. Just as he was about to head toward Bai Yinqing’s room, he came face-to-face with Bai Yinqing returning to open his door.
Bai Yinqing instinctively glanced over. Song Lin was scared out of his wits; he stuffed a piece of the breakfast into his mouth and guiltily covered the card: “Hello… up so early, huh?”
Bai Yinqing was certain he didn’t know this person, but he responded politely.
I probably wasn’t caught, right? The card was covered, and the food was in my mouth. Song Lin watched Bai Yinqing enter the dorm, his heart pounding wildly. The price Yu Weinian paid was a thousand per day; this kind of high-pay, low-effort job was sought after by everyone. If he messed it up, he didn’t know how to fix it.
Song Lin quickly sent a message to Yu Weinian: “I bumped into Bai Yinqing this morning; he seemed to just be getting back from outside. No need to send breakfast today, right?”
About half an hour later, he received a voice reply. Judging by the sound, Yu Weinian was still in dreamland, mumbling: “Mm, not today.”
Bai Yinqing returned to the dorm to change into his military training uniform. Most of his roommates had already finished washing up.
Yao Zhou: “The dorm manager checked the rooms last night; we said you were in the restroom.”
Bai Yinqing had already requested leave in advance, but he still said: “I had some things to do yesterday, thanks.”
The atmosphere in the dorm turned strange for an instant.
Bai Yinqing didn’t know that the fact he had supported Yu Weinian out of the school gates and got into the same taxi last night had already spread throughout the school. Many people on the forums were lamenting that there truly wasn’t anyone Yu Weinian couldn’t get—even a difficult-to-attain “high mountain flower” like Bai Yinqing.
Yuan Heyi still remembered the discussions in the popular forum threads. At the time, Yu Weinian was clearly dead drunk; as a junior, it was normal for Bai Yinqing to lend a hand. It didn’t necessarily mean they were together, right?
But the fact that Bai Yinqing hadn’t returned all night was suspicious in itself. His thoughts were like a tangled mess of thread. Yuan Heyi went straight to the point: “Are you together with the senior?”
Bai Yinqing paused while buttoning his shirt. He turned his head: “No.”
“Oh, a lot of people saw you get into the same car as the senior.”
“He was drunk, I took him home. That’s all.”
Yuan Heyi thought, as expected. He asked again: “So did you stay over at the senior’s house?”
“No.” Bai Yinqing could have ignored the question, but perhaps because he didn’t want to be linked with Yu Weinian, he answered them one by one.
Yuan Heyi’s expression cleared up instantly: “I knew it, the forums are all talking nonsense.”
It wasn’t surprising that the forums were discussing it so heatedly; the key was that Yu Weinian himself was a walking headline. A rich romantic history, outstanding looks, and a wealthy family background—any one of those was enough to generate buzz, let alone having all three.
Once Bai Yinqing finished changing and took his phone and room card, there was indeed no breakfast sent by Yu Weinian at the door. He had originally suspected if someone else was doing the deliveries, but now he was basically certain: it was Yu Weinian delivering them personally. After all that tossing and turning last night, Yu Weinian definitely wouldn’t be able to get up today.
As Bai Yinqing was about to close the door, Ke Ya called out to him: “Wait.”
Bai Yinqing looked at him.
Ke Ya hesitated, then whispered: “Senior Yu is pursuing you, right?”
Bai Yinqing didn’t deny it.
“Senior Yu has been in many relationships and has pursued many people with great fanfare, always creating the illusion that he’s found true love, but he’s never been serious…” The implication was that Yu Weinian wouldn’t be serious about Bai Yinqing either.
Bai Yinqing interrupted flatly: “Does that have anything to do with you?”
Ke Ya was silent. Bai Yinqing left immediately.
On the playground baked by the blazing sun, students in camouflage uniforms stood in formation. Sweat flowed down their faces, finally dripping from their chins. Under the scorching sun, Bai Yinqing’s expression remained unchanged. When the instructor’s whistle blew, he headed alone to the shade to rest.
During the training, Bai Yinqing’s phone vibrated multiple times. Few people sent him messages, and he rarely chatted with anyone. Therefore, he didn’t even need to check the phone to know the source of the vibration.
Opening WeChat, the last message from Yu Weinian was a photo.
It was a selfie of Yu Weinian. He was wrapped in dark bedding, lying face down on the bed with a pillow under his chest, his snow-white, thin back completely exposed. Having just woken up, his cheeks had a natural flush, and the corners of his eyes were moist. It needed no editing to be eye-catching; his overly exquisite face showed a hint of weakness, looking very much like a spirit from a ghost story that sucks out men’s souls.
—Student Bai, I feel so unwell.
—I think I’ve really fallen ill.
Bai Yinqing replied: Don’t send me messy photos.
Yu Weinian: Okay.
Would Yu Weinian actually be this obedient? No, this person was a naturally unstable and dangerous element.
Sure enough, a few seconds later, he sent a video.
The camera tilted down toward his waist. A finger hooked the corner of his pajamas, exposing his narrow waist. Even with a casual recording, one could see that the waist was slender and thin—snow-white, delicate, warm, and healthy blood color showing through the flesh. The touch looked undeniably excellent.
Cool, pale fingers brushed against his thin abdominal muscles with an air of nonchalance. Under the hazy light and shadow, it was indescribably erotic.
The video wasn’t long, but before Bai Yinqing could finish watching it, it was suddenly recalled.
Bai Yinqing: ? Yu Weinian: ? Bai Yinqing: Why did you recall it? Yu Weinian: Don’t want to show you anymore. Yu Weinian: I hate you.
“…” Bai Yinqing was silent. After a moment, his brow furrowed slightly.
The relationship between him and Yu Weinian shouldn’t be at the point of “flirting” yet. Besides, he hadn’t done anything; what did Yu Weinian hate him for? This was simply being unreasonable.
However, Yu Weinian seemed to be ill, and people are always emotionally fragile when sick. Forget it, why argue with a patient?
But if Bai Yinqing were to actually reply, he didn’t know what to say; he wasn’t a man of many words. He stared at the screen for a long time, typing several times only to delete it all.
The phone vibrated; Bai Yinqing looked quickly at the screen, only to find it was a news notification. He looked at that final “I hate you” and felt he should say something. But his fingers hovered over the keyboard, unable to move.
For five minutes, the chat window showed “Typing…” multiple times, but Yu Weinian didn’t receive a single message. He found it extremely amusing—Bai Yinqing was actually racking his brains because he didn’t know how to reply?
Another two minutes passed. After yet another display of “Typing…”, Bai Yinqing finally figured out what to reply. However, Yu Weinian sent a message first.
It was a voice message.
Bai Yinqing had a strong sense of boundaries; he didn’t like others prying into his life. Even though he was far enough from others, he still turned down the volume and placed the receiver to his ear.
A rustling voice swirled gently. Yu Weinian used his usual upward-lilting tone and said with a chuckle:
“I lied to you,” he said. “I like you the most.”
The ten-minute break ended. The assembly whistle drowned out all the sounds of the world. Bai Yinqing quietly lowered his gaze. Yu Weinian, as if afraid he wouldn’t listen, sent a text version of the confession.
—I like you the most.
—But Bai Yinqing, you made me hurt so much.
The next second, a new photo popped up. Yu Weinian took a photo of his ankle.
On the slender, bony ankle, there was a clear ring of finger marks. After a night, the marks had not vanished. Having fermented over the long night, the originally faint red marks had formed a deeper kind of bruising, as if seeping out from the inside of the skin, growing together with the bone and flesh.
Students in camouflage uniforms hurried toward the assembly point, yet only Bai Yinqing stood still. He looked down at his own hand, then looked at the photo on the screen.
This was a mark he had left behind.
