After My Engagement Was Broken, I Married My Fiancé's Uncle - Chapter 1
“Second Young Master Jiang is so loyal! He rushed over right after one phone call,” someone on the side kept chattering.
Jiang Xingyuan listened while surveying his surroundings. As expected of the top clubhouse in Xinghai City, the interior was luxuriously decorated to the point of extravagance. Even the smallest ornament was a priceless luxury item. He touched a decorative piece on the table but quickly put it back, afraid of accidentally breaking it.
“Wooo, I actually got dumped! You have no idea how miserable I feel. You must drink a few more rounds with me later…” Huang Hao wailed for a while. Seeing Jiang Xingyuan dazing out, he sniffed and instantly retracted his crocodile tears.
“Drinking?” Jiang Xingyuan snapped back to reality.
“What? Never drank before?” Huang Hao was a bit surprised.
Jiang Xingyuan looked at the neatly arranged high-end bottles on the table. This table of alcohol was worth nearly the down payment on a house. He truly hadn’t drunk such expensive liquor before, so he nodded honestly. “Yeah.”
Huang Hao looked understanding and enthusiastically pulled him over. “It’s fine, there’s a first time for everything. Sit down, Second Young Master Jiang.”
“No need to be so formal,” Jiang Xingyuan said. “You can just call me by my name.”
“Then I’ll call you Xingyuan.” Huang Hao spoke from the heart, “The first time I saw you at Shengying, I knew you were a good person. Just as I thought, you’re loyal. From now on, you’re my brother.”
Jiang Xingyuan was slightly surprised by such a display of “genuine” emotion. Are rich second generation kids nowadays all this ‘sweet and naive’? They had known each other for less than a week and met fewer than five times. How could he trust him so easily? What if Jiang was a bad person?
As for skipping class, it was simply because Jiang couldn’t understand a word the teacher said, sitting in the classroom felt like being in prison. When he saw someone inviting him out, he left.
However, since the other guy was buying him drinks, he didn’t mind acting as an emotional outlet. He replied sincerely, “I think you’re a pretty good guy too.”
Huang Hao looked at the seemingly “dim-witted” Jiang Xingyuan. Thinking about how the boy had no idea what was about to happen, Huang couldn’t help but smile. He internally sneered, he hadn’t missed Jiang’s “country bumpkin” look earlier.
When Jiang Xingyuan looked over, Huang Hao immediately masked his mockery with enthusiasm. He didn’t believe this table of alcohol wouldn’t get the boy drunk.
Calculated Intentions
The two sat with different motives. Huang Hao cursed the “scum Omega” who dumped him while pouring drinks for Jiang Xingyuan.
Jiang Xingyuan took a sip. Expensive alcohol did indeed taste better, at least it wasn’t fake. It was refreshing and lacked the harsh, choking sting of cheap spirits. After three glasses, Jiang’s face hadn’t changed at all.
Huang Hao was stunned. Jiang Xingyuan didn’t look like someone who “never drank.”
“How is it?” “It’s alright.”
This was the first time Jiang Xingyuan had drunk freely since returning to the Jiang family. For someone with his tolerance, three glasses were just a “tasting.”
Alright? Huang Hao frowned. He figured it was just three glasses, the strongest liquor in the club would eventually kick in. Maybe some people were just born with high tolerance.
“Hey Xingyuan… there’s something I’m curious about, hope you don’t mind me asking?”
Jiang Xingyuan paused. Usually, when someone says that, what follows is likely offensive. It’s either stupid or malicious. Looking at Huang Hao, Jiang figured it was the former.
“I mind,” Jiang Xingyuan said.
Huang Hao froze, speechless. The atmosphere turned awkward. Two simple words had blocked his entire rehearsed script. He didn’t expect Jiang Xingyuan to play so “off-book.”
Suddenly, Jiang Xingyuan laughed. “I’m kidding. What do you want to ask?”
Huang Hao gave a forced laugh. “Xingyuan, you really know how to joke! I knew you weren’t petty. It’s nothing big, just gossip. I heard the Jiang family has two ‘Second Young Masters’ and was curious. If it bothers you, you don’t have to say…”
Huang Hao acted considerate, but his eyes never left Jiang’s face. He wanted to see Jiang Xingyuan look embarrassed or explode in rage. If Jiang got angry, it would just prove he was narrow-minded.
To his surprise, Jiang Xingyuan didn’t even flinch. “Oh, I thought it was something serious.”
He didn’t plan on hiding it, it was public knowledge anyway. “I always thought I was an orphan until the family found me two years ago. The other ‘Second Young Master’ was a child adopted early on to comfort my mother. It’s that simple. If you want to know more, I can tell you, but it’ll take a while.”
Huang Hao was stunned. Is he really this broad-minded? He truly doesn’t care about the guy who took his identity?
He didn’t believe it. Everyone in Xinghai’s upper class knew the “real” Jiang heir was an uneducated hoodlum. Because he was so unpresentable, the Jiangs never took him to public events. In the two years since his return, he had changed schools three times due to trouble and stayed back two grades. For an Alpha to be this pathetic was humiliating.
Meanwhile, the other son, Jiang Xingran, was a genius with straight A’s who skipped two grades and entered the Elite Class at Xingyuan University. He was a piano prodigy and a potential top-tier Alpha. Outsiders often lamented: If only Jiang Xingran were the biological son!
The only thing Jiang Xingyuan had going for him was his face. Aside from that, he was worthless.
Seeing Jiang didn’t care, Huang Hao stopped asking. His main goal wasn’t gossip today. “Let’s keep drinking!”
The Ambush
After several bottles, Huang Hao was slurring his speech, but Jiang Xingyuan’s eyes remained crystal clear. Crap! Huang Hao thought. Is he really that good at drinking? Was he lying about being a novice?
Suddenly, his phone vibrated. Huang Hao set down his glass. “I’m going to the bathroom, be right back.”
Jiang Xingyuan looked at the swaying man. “Are you okay? Are you drunk?” “Just a little alcohol, no big deal,” Huang Hao barked.
In the bathroom, he opened his phone:
Message: How’s it going? Did you take the photos?
Huang Hao: Don’t worry, leave it to me.
Their plan was to get Jiang Xingyuan drunk, strip him, take compromising photos, and post them on the school forum so he’d be too ashamed to stay at Shengying. Since he wouldn’t go down easily, Huang Hao decided to escalate.
He returned and said, “Drinking with just two people is boring.”
The door opened, and a crowd of beautiful men and women poured in. When they saw the guest was a stunning silver haired boy, their eyes lit up and they swarmed him.
“This is my brother, take good care of him,” Huang Hao said. “Pick whoever you like.”
Jiang Xingyuan inhaled the overwhelming perfume and resisted the urge to sneeze. Huang Hao plays wild! “Is this okay? We’re students.” “It’s fine, they’re just here to drink with us.”
Oh, so that’s how it is, Jiang Xingyuan thought, clearing his “dirty” thoughts. He felt a bit guilty for misjudging Huang Hao as just a heartbroken rich kid.
Huang Hao saw Jiang’s blushing face and sneered. He didn’t believe Jiang could resist the temptation.
But things didn’t go as planned.
Jiang was shy at first, but under the flattery and drinking games, he became like a fish in water. He lost at first, but soon, he stopped losing. With his pale skin flushed pink and his silver hair, he looked otherworldly and bewitching. Even the professional “companions” forgot their jobs and ended up being the ones drinking round after round.
Huang Hao watched in horror as the bill skyrocketed. Jiang Xingyuan stood up, looking like a victorious general. He patted a dazed Huang Hao on the shoulder. “Sorry, brother. I have to go. I have a curfew.”
The Confrontation
Huang Hao snapped. He hadn’t spent all this money to let Jiang walk away happy. “Jiang Xingyuan, you’re not going anywhere!”
Jiang was confused. “Brother… you’re drunk, right?”
Huang Hao’s eyes were bloodshot. Since the soft approach failed, he’d use force. Jiang looked thin and malnourished, surely he couldn’t fight. “Who the hell is your brother!”
Jiang sighed. He didn’t want to fight since he’d just been disciplined at home. He dodged Huang’s swings effortlessly. Seeing a group of tall security guards down the hall, Jiang got an idea.
He stopped moving. Huang Hao swung a fist, but suddenly his vision went dark. Two massive Alpha guards grabbed his arms, twisting them painfully.
“Sorry, my brother is drunk and acting out. I can’t hold him down alone,” Jiang said.
“No matter.”
A clear, cold voice rang out, accompanied by a faint scent of sandalwood. Jiang Xingyuan looked over and froze. He only saw a side profile, but it was unforgettable. The man was dressed in black, exuding an aura as pure and cold as winter snow.
Someone nearby called him “Ninth Lord” (Jiu-ye). He looked young, but clearly held immense status.
“Leave two men,” the man said coldly, not even looking at Jiang, and walked away.
“Bye-bye! Sorry for the trouble!” Jiang called out. As the guards dragged the screaming Huang Hao away, a phone fell out of Huang’s pocket.
Jiang Xingyuan picked it up to return it, but the screen lit up with a new message. As he read the content, his smile vanished.
A few seconds later, he turned around and chased after the guards. “Wait! I felt bad leaving my brother. I’ll take care of him. Just help me tie him up so he doesn’t hurt me in his ‘drunken’ state.”
The guards, thinking Jiang was a saint, happily obliged.
Once the door was shut and the guards left, Jiang’s smile dropped. He looked at the tied-up Huang Hao while holding the phone.
“You… you know,” Huang Hao stammered in terror. “Yeah, I know.”
A terrified scream echoed in the room, then abruptly stopped.
The Aftermath
An hour later, Jiang Xingyuan walked out, humming a tune and adjusting his sleeves. Seeing the time, his heart skipped a beat. Curfew!
He ran out of the club, only to be caught immediately. The Butler was waiting.
“Master is waiting for you at home.”
In the car, Jiang was nervous. He smelled of booze, had silver hair, and looked like a total rebel. He was definitely getting a lecture.
“I thought he was on a business trip for a month?” “He returned for an urgent matter,” the Butler said. “What matter?” “To discuss your engagement.”
Wait, engagement?! Jiang Xingyuan was dumbfounded. Mine? With who?
