After My Cross-dressing Cover Was Blown, the Movie Star Became My Accomplice - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
◎ I seem to have drawn the identity of a female ◎
Mu Yao secretly observed Bi Tu, attempting to find the ghostly shadow haunting him. Unfortunately, before he could find it, Bi Tu had already arrived in front of him.
“You must be the rotating guest for the first episode, right? Good lad, you’ve got a fine look! Meeting for a shoot is fate—come, let’s have a hug!”
Bi Tu’s round face was full of smiles. He spread his arms wide, looking like someone who was enthusiastic toward everyone he met.
“Uh… Hello, Teacher Bi Tu.”
Mu Yao looked at the veteran senior before him—shrouded in ghostly qi, wearing a warm smile, and waiting with open arms for a response. Although he felt some resistance, as a “little transparent” in the industry, he didn’t have the right to refuse.
He did his best to maintain his expression, greeting the man while responding to the enthusiastic hug.
“Good, good, a polite young man.”
Bi Tu spoke with a chuckle, his palm slapping Mu Yao’s back with great force. Mu Yao only felt a burning pain on the skin of his back.
‘Damn, so this senior is a “smiling tiger”? His grip strength is no joke!’
“Ahem, Teacher Bi Tu is joking.”
Mu Yao coughed a few times, speaking with an unchanged expression, but his body had already silently moved away from this veteran who would stealthily attack a junior.
In the entertainment industry, he had encountered many such things and knew to keep a respectful distance from people like this.
“Haha, this kid is quite shy. Young people shouldn’t always be expressionless; you should smile more. As the saying goes, a smile makes you ten years younger. See, I look very young, don’t I? Hahahaha!”
Bi Tu looked at Mu Yao with a laugh. He raised a hand to pull at the corner of his wrinkled eye and vividly made a smiling grimace.
‘…A “smiling tiger” with no idol baggage is truly terrifying!’
Mu Yao grumbled inwardly and inconspicuously suppressed a shiver.
Seeing that Mu Yao’s expression remained cold and that he had no interesting reactions other than the initial greeting and response, Bi Tu turned away to talk to the director.
After a while, Mu Yao received a notice to cooperate with Bi Tu to film the “first meeting” footage.
Mu Yao nodded in cooperation. This time, he was on guard against Bi Tu trying another underhanded move while he wasn’t looking.
Fortunately, under the lens, Bi Tu was a normal comedy senior. He pretended to be surprised at their first meeting, greeted Mu Yao, and shook his hand with the poise of a veteran.
Of course, if one ignored the slightly excessive strength in the man’s grip, everything was relatively normal.
‘D*mn it, I guarded my back but not my hand. Are you sick?! Do you have an addiction to bullying low-tier people? You’re truly not acting your age!’
Under the camera, Mu Yao maintained his cool expression, but in his heart, he had already cursed this Bi Tu, who loved using underhanded tricks, up and down!
Things shouldn’t happen a third time; one cannot suffer a loss thrice. As soon as the director shouted “cut,” Mu Yao silently lowered his presence and hid not far away. He had no desire to continue being the target of petty tricks.
‘Could the ghostly qi on this person be from his love of tripping others up? It feels like I don’t need to bother with it!’
Mu Yao decided to respect the other man’s destiny and not meddle in his business.
Soon after, Qu Fu and Kong Yanfei arrived one after another.
Qu Fu truly lived up to her status as a popular “little flower.” The moment she arrived, she became the center of attention. Even surrounded by staff, her tall figure remained prominent; Mu Yao estimated her height to be over 170cm.
Having shed her light early-spring down jacket, Qu Fu wore a crisp shirt and jeans. Her facial features were distinct, with a high and exquisite nose bridge. The outer corners of her eyes upturned slightly, though her double eyelids softened the sharp look, and her cold brown pupils carried a natural hint of disdain when she looked at people.
She didn’t need the makeup artist to do her styling; she had already done it herself. Her layered long hair was styled in a wolf-cut that draped over her shoulders, the ends slightly curled and fluffy.
At first glance, she was a stunning and iconic “cool big sister”!
‘She looks much better in person than through a lens!’
Mu Yao looked at Qu Fu in the crowd and couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.
Compared to the “moon surrounded by stars” treatment Qu Fu received, Kong Yanfei’s reception was slightly more modest.
However, compared to Mu Yao, whom almost no one noticed, there were still plenty of people around her.
This young national athlete had a pair of moist, innocent “puppy eyes,” which was very different from the temperament she displayed on the field. She timidly called everyone “Brother” and “Sister,” obediently following the crew’s arrangements.
Since Qu Fu and Kong Yanfei arrived almost at the same time, the director simply arranged for them to enter the office together. Once the four were gathered, the production team pointed the cameras at them and finally began the formal filming.
“Welcome, guests, to the filming site of Journey of the Four Seasons: Embark on a Trip Whenever You Want! Next, you will begin the first trip of the Four Seasons Journey: the Spring Trip!”
On camera, Qu Fu, Bi Tu, Mu Yao, and Kong Yanfei sat around a table. At their hands were two items: an envelope with black and gold patterns, and a handheld VLOG device.
None of them touched the items on the table. Instead, they clapped supportively for the staff calling out from off-camera.
“Spring Trip? I wonder where we’re going?”
Qu Fu wore a smile, tapping the corner of her eye with her finger as a look of anticipation appeared in her eyes.
“Oh, I haven’t been out for a trip in a long time. This is perfect—traveling on the public’s dime.”
Bi Tu smiled at the camera, showing the joy of an all-expenses-paid trip.
“A spring outing! I have a subject for my essay now!”
Kong Yanfei clapped her hands. Since she was still in school, her first reaction was that her homework was sorted.
“Looking forward to it.”
Mu Yao blinked and spoke blandly. He didn’t want to participate in the show in the first place and was only here because of He Ji’s expectations. He wanted to perform well, but after struggling for a long while, these were the only four words he could manage.
The director looked speechlessly at the handsome but poorly-reacting Mu Yao on screen, gritting his teeth in frustration at his lack of initiative.
‘How can this kid not seize the opportunity?’
The director muttered in his heart and signaled the staff to continue.
“The Spring Trip will be completed by five guests. In addition to the four present today, a guest star will arrive on the second day after you reach the destination. Next, let us introduce the destination of the Spring Trip: ‘Xiantao Village’! Please open the black envelopes on the table.”
Mu Yao opened the envelope as requested. Inside was a flight ticket to D City and a brief introduction to Xiantao Village.
It was an ancient village nestled deep in the mountains. A vast number of peach trees were planted both inside and outside the village. Every early spring, when the peach blossoms bloomed, it looked like a fairyland; hence the name “Xiantao Village”.
Visitors could experience the production of local handicrafts, watch characteristic dances, and purchase “Starlight Stones” produced in the mines outside the village. If they caught the Mountain God Festival, they could even experience the village’s unique festive atmosphere and a bonfire party!
Looking at the text introduction of Xiantao Village, Mu Yao felt it was indeed a good place for travel, especially since it was currently the season for peach blossoms.
“To allow everyone to deeply experience the tour projects, this trip will use a role-playing method. Each guest will draw an identity and put on the corresponding costume prepared by the crew tomorrow morning. You will participate in travel missions in this costume throughout the trip.”
A tray was brought before the four of them, containing four more envelopes.
“Eh, that’s not right. There are only four envelopes. Didn’t you say there are five people?”
Kong Yanfei asked in confusion. Five guests but only four identities was strange!
“The guest star does not participate in role-playing.”
The crew members signaled to Kong Yanfei from behind the camera not to ask more. Kong Yanfei understood and nodded.
“Oh, I see.”
Mu Yao, however, picked up on the guest star’s special status. He felt He Ji’s guess was right: the guest star was a heavyweight whom the crew didn’t dare to assign a role to.
“I’m someone who protects the young. Little girl, you go first.”
The small interlude didn’t affect the progress. As the eldest, Bi Tu suggested with the air of a senior.
Once he said this, it became improper for Qu Fu to be the first to draw. Her glamorous red lips curled into a smile as she looked kindly at Kong Yanfei.
“Little Yanfei is so cute; of course she should go first.”
“Hehe, it’s rare for Little Flower Qu to let someone else go first!”
Bi Tu looked at Qu Fu with a fake smile, his words laced with sarcasm.
“Well, my competitiveness is only directed at adults. Little Yanfei is so lovable; naturally, I can yield.”
For some reason, Mu Yao felt as if invisible sparks of electricity were clashing between Qu Fu and Bi Tu.
When gods fight, the little ghosts suffer. Although Mu Yao wasn’t a little ghost, he was a low-tier celebrity. He had to have self-awareness.
Mu Yao pushed the tray toward Kong Yanfei and spoke plainly.
“Here, draw your identity.”
“Oh, thank you, Brother Mu Yao!”
Kong Yanfei wasn’t affected by the atmosphere between Qu Fu and Bi Tu. Seeing Mu Yao push the tray over, she thanked him generously and pulled out an envelope at random.
“Mine Hunter? What kind of identity is this?”
“Judging by the name, it’s someone who looks for minerals. Didn’t the intro say the village has special stones?”
Seeing that Kong Yanfei had drawn her identity, Qu Fu also leaned in. As she spoke, she took an envelope for herself.
“Bamboo Weaver? This is a craftsman identity, right?”
Qu Fu frowned; she didn’t know anything about handicrafts.
“Oho, that’s difficult. It looks like you’ll have a hard time, hehe.”
Bi Tu laughed happily. Without even looking at Mu Yao, he casually picked up an envelope and opened it. Then, his smile froze, and the corner of his eye twitched.
“Cloth Dyer…”
“My, Teacher Bi’s identity looks quite difficult as well!”
Hearing Bi Tu’s resentful voice, Mu Yao almost couldn’t hold back his laughter, but Qu Fu laughed faster than him, which saved him.
At this point, three of the four guests had drawn their identities. Upon learning these three roles, the director hurriedly pulled a staff member over to make arrangements.
“Quick, quick, quick, plans have changed! Get all the costumes ready immediately!”
“Yes, sir!”
Only one envelope lay quietly on the tray. Mu Yao didn’t need to hesitate; he picked it up and opened it. The moment he saw the text inside, he blinked blankly, his entire being freezing in place.
“Brother Mu Yao, what identity did you draw?”
In the past, Qu Fu wouldn’t have cared about others’ identities; she only needed to ensure she was perfect and proud in front of the lens. But now, after seeing the veteran Bi Tu suffer a setback, her mood was excellent. She felt like helping along this “younger brother” whose looks were very much to her aesthetic.
She had connections and had known long ago that the rotating guest for this episode was Mu Yao. She had also specifically checked and knew Mu Yao was a year younger than her, so calling him “Little Brother” was appropriate.
“Brother?”
Mu Yao was stunned for a moment, then realized he had lost his composure. He adjusted his state and displayed the information on his identity card to everyone with a wry smile.
“Shrine Maiden… I seem to have drawn the identity of a female.”
