After Mistaking My Sister’s Friend for a Scumbag Alpha - Chapter 4
A trace of malice flickered in Song Manyun’s eyes. She set the plates down and cleared her throat, following the manager’s requirements as she spoke. “All your dishes have been served. Please enjoy your meal.”
As she finished, she bowed to leave but suddenly tripped. Losing her balance, she tumbled onto the floor, a sharp pain radiating from her knees.
Jiang Wanyi withdrew her leg and picked up her cutlery, acting as if absolutely nothing had happened.
Song Manyun was helped up by a colleague. She shot a glare back at Jiang Wanyi, her heart smoldering with suppressed rage.
Jiang Wanyi looked up, meeting her gaze. She blinked and adopted an air of feigned innocence. “Do your servers actually undergo any training? I mean, how does someone just trip on flat ground? You aren’t trying to extort us, are you?”
“You clearly—”
“Sister Shi.” Jiang Wanyi cut her off, turning to the Alpha beside her with a look of pure grievance. She began her complaint: “This server is being so aggressive. Is she really trying to frame me?”
Song Manyun did not recognize Shangguan Shi, but she knew that anyone dining on the top floor was incredibly wealthy. She had only taken a minor fall; it was obvious which side the restaurant would take. Before Shangguan Shi could even speak, Song Manyun turned pale and apologized. “I am sorry. I didn’t mean it that way. I was just careless and tripped.”
Shangguan Shi looked toward Jiang Wanyi, who decided to show a bit of “mercy.”
“It’s good that you recognize it was your own fault. I forgive you. You may go.”
Song Manyun’s expression soured even further. “…Thank you.”
Once the staff had departed, the two of them were left alone on the top floor. Jiang Wanyi happily tasted a morsel of the beautifully plated food, though she felt a slight pang of disappointment. It wasn’t bad, but it certainly wasn’t delicious. The drinks were decent, but having finished half a milk tea earlier, she couldn’t manage much more.
“Wanwan.”
Wanyi tilted her head. “Hmm?”
“Do you know that server from somewhere?” Shangguan Shi asked.
“Of course I do,” Wanyi replied. “I’m not the kind of unreasonable person who goes around making life difficult for strangers.” She explained, “She’s a senior from my school who used to pester me.”
Near the end of the last semester, Song Manyun had started pursuing her. It seemed normal at first, but after several rejections, her advances turned into harassment and even stalking. Jiang Wanyi was not a submissive person; when Song Manyun made her uncomfortable, she hired people to give the Alpha a thorough beating and delivered a stern warning.
Ideally, they should have remained bitter enemies after that. However, the Alpha was delusionally confident and continued the harassment. Just a day before Wanyi had planned to gather a crew to jump her again, the car accident happened. The crash shifted Wanyi’s focus to the scumbag Alpha, and since Song Manyun had stopped bothering her, she had intended to let the matter go until they crossed paths today.
The look in Song Manyun’s eyes made it clear that the matter was far from over. However, Wanyi had no intention of sharing these details with Shangguan Shi; she didn’t want the Alpha poking into her private life. She simply stated that the issue was “resolved.” Shangguan Shi seemed to believe her and dropped the subject, making the rest of the meal relatively pleasant.
By the time they finished dinner and headed downstairs, it was eight o’clock. Shangguan Shi checked her watch and offered to drive her home. Wanyi naturally agreed.
On the way back, Wanyi noticed Shangguan Shi was constantly sending messages and rubbing her temples. Taking the hint, Wanyi opened a digital script to read. Her manager had sent it over the day before; she was playing a minor supporting character, but the role was important to the main plot. The screenwriter was talented, and the story was full of twists and turns. Wanyi quickly became absorbed in the text, only realizing they had reached the Jiang residence when Shangguan Shi spoke up.
She put her phone away and switched back into her “sweet Omega” persona. With a bright smile, she said, “I had a wonderful time today. Thank you, Sister Shi.”
She paused for three seconds before closing her eyes and hugging the Alpha. Leaning into her ear, she whispered, “Sister Shi, I hope to see you tomorrow too. Bye!”
The Omega’s soft, warm body was gone in an instant, but her pheromones remained. Even after Shangguan Shi returned to her solitary home, the scent seemed to cling to her collar, wafting up with every movement. It was somewhat like citrus, yet sweeter and more delicate. Shangguan Shi felt she might have suppressed her instincts for too long, as even a hint of an Omega’s pheromones now felt overwhelming. She ended up taking two showers.

On Saturday, after a quick morning workout, Jiang Wanyi checked her phone only to find that the scumbag Alpha hadn’t sent a single message.
[Jiang Wanyi: Good morning, Sister Shi.]
If the Alpha wouldn’t initiate, she would. A “Good morning” reply came back immediately.
Wanyi arched an eyebrow: [It’s the weekend. Surely you don’t have to work today, Sister Shi?]
[Scumbag Alpha: A boss has no days off.]
[Jiang Wanyi: How tragic.]
[Jiang Wanyi: Why don’t I bring you lunch? What would you like to eat?]
[Scumbag Alpha: I am working from home.]
Wanyi stared at the screen. Is she trying to kill the conversation on purpose? If this scumbag weren’t useful, she would have blocked her by now.
[Jiang Wanyi: Then… I’ll bring you lunch next time.]
She had considered offering to go to the Alpha’s house, but decided it was too dangerous. Who knew when the scumbag’s “madness” might flare up?
[Scumbag Alpha: Thank you, Wanwan.]
[Jiang Wanyi: Save the thanks for when I actually deliver it. But a verbal thank you won’t be enough; I expect a gift of equal value in exchange.]
[Scumbag Alpha: What kind of gift do you want?]
[Jiang Wanyi: I want you, Sister Shi—]
[Jiang Wanyi: To spend an entire day with me.]
Seeing the second half of that message, Shangguan Shi’s heart rate failed to return to normal. Her golden eyes flickered with emotion. Her fingers hovered over the keyboard for several seconds before she finally typed “Alright.”
Looking at that “Alright,” Jiang Wanyi suddenly wished she could take her words back. She didn’t actually want to spend a whole day with the woman; she had assumed Shangguan Shi would refuse. Since the words were already out, she had to keep up the act.
[Jiang Wanyi: Then it’s a deal. When are you next going into the office? I’ll prepare in advance.]
[Scumbag Alpha: Next Monday.]
That was the day after tomorrow.
[Jiang Wanyi: It looks like I only have two days to prepare then. What do you like to eat, Sister Shi?]
[Scumbag Alpha: Anything is fine.]
[Jiang Wanyi: Then I’ll follow my own inspiration.]
Once the lunch date was settled, they chatted for a while longer. Seeing that the other party wasn’t ending the conversation, Wanyi finally claimed she had to go do her homework. She put her phone away and went downstairs for breakfast. The house was empty except for the servants; everyone else had gone to the office. The fact that they were all working overtime on a weekend showed just how serious the company’s crisis was.
Thinking of this, Wanyi lost her appetite. Her major was unrelated to finance, and she had no interest or skill in business. She couldn’t help the company directly, leaving her only this complicated game with the scumbag Alpha, and success wasn’t even guaranteed. If she failed, would her sister still end up married to this person as the book described? No, she had to succeed. She could not let her sister fall into those clutches.

Monday.
After her two classes, Jiang Wanyi went back to her apartment near the campus to change and apply some light makeup. She then transferred a takeout order into some lunch boxes she had prepared and caught a taxi to the Zhoushang Group.
Assistant Han had been waiting downstairs for nearly half an hour before the second Miss Jiang appeared. She stepped forward to take the bags and said respectfully, “Miss Jiang, I am President Shi’s assistant. Please follow me.”
She led Wanyi to a private elevator, secretly observing her future boss’s partner. She had always assumed her boss would either remain single forever or find someone sophisticated and elegant. She never expected the choice to be the younger Jiang sister. However, the girl was undeniably beautiful and of equal status, so there was no reason for the boss to refuse.
Jiang Wanyi was also secretly observing Han. The assistant was a Beta, but her looks rivaled those of any average Alpha or Omega. She was tall, with long legs, looking every bit the high-achieving urban professional. Upon reaching the executive floor, Wanyi noticed that all of Shangguan Shi’s assistants and secretaries regardless of gender, were exceptionally attractive.
She sneered inwardly. A scumbag Alpha is indeed a lecher.
“Miss Jiang,” Han said, stopping her just as she was about to knock. She handed the lunch bags back to her. Wanyi thanked her and knocked on the door.
“Come in,” the Alpha’s refined voice called out.
Wanyi pushed the door open and scanned the office before locking onto the desk and the Alpha sitting there. Shangguan Shi was dressed casually, her hair tied back with a simple band. Her desk was immaculate. She held a book in her hand, her gaze landing squarely on Wanyi.
“Sister Shi!” Wanyi instantly entered her “work mode.” She hurried over, placed the bags on the desk, and began arranging the containers while lying through her teeth. “I made this lunch myself. Try it and tell me if it’s good.”
She had actually ordered from a top-rated restaurant she frequented; the ingredients were fresh and the taste was guaranteed. Under the Omega’s expectant gaze, Shangguan Shi picked up the disposable chopsticks and took a bite.
“How is it? Is it good?” The girl’s voice sounded somewhat nervous.
Tasting a familiar flavor, Shangguan Shi lowered her eyes. She didn’t offer an evaluation immediately. After a few seconds, she finally said, “It’s delicious.”
“I’m glad you like it.” Seeing that the Alpha hadn’t realized it was takeout, Wanyi felt relieved.
Wanyi picked up her own chopsticks and began to eat, chatting about interesting things happening at school. “I heard some good news today. Song Manyun dropped out. She was the server we ran into the other night, remember?”
Shangguan Shi nodded.
“It’s a bit strange for her to suddenly drop out,” Wanyi continued. “But for a piece of trash like her, it’s a relief for everyone else.”
Shangguan Shi murmured in agreement.
Wanyi suddenly looked up, staring directly at the woman across from her. “Sister Shi,” she said, her voice trailing off as if she were asking casually, yet already knew the answer. “Song Manyun’s sudden withdrawal… that wouldn’t happen to be your doing, would it?”
