After Mistaking My Sister’s Friend for a Scumbag Alpha - Chapter 2
“Wanwan.” The scumbag Alpha walked to her bedside and set the gift down, her voice laced with a gentle tone. “I heard you were in an accident, so I came to see how you were doing. I wasn’t sure what you liked, so I only brought some flowers and fruit.”
She just didn’t want to spend the money; what a pathetic excuse, Jiang Wanyi thought.
Now that she knew the truth about this woman’s nature, Wanyi could only view her through a lens of malice. She kept her expression icy and her voice stiff as she replied, “Thank you.”
Sensing her obvious displeasure, Shangguan Shi paused for a moment. She seemed genuinely puzzled, as if she could not understand how she had managed to offend the young girl in front of her.
Jiang Qianyi quickly stepped in to smooth things over. “Shangguan, my sister is in pain because of her head injury. Let’s not disturb her rest.”
“Alright.” Shangguan Shi’s primary reason for coming had been work anyway.
The two women moved to the living area to discuss business. Since Wanyi was staying in a VIP suite, the room was fully equipped with a lounge, a kitchen, a balcony, and even a guest bedroom.
Half an hour passed, yet Jiang Wanyi remained fixated on the living room. More specifically, she was glaring at Shangguan Shi. She told herself that if the scumbag Alpha dared to make even a single inappropriate move, she would rush out immediately to rescue her sister.
However, until the conversation concluded, the Alpha maintained her facade perfectly and left no openings for suspicion.
After Shangguan Shi left, a doctor arrived to change Wanyi’s dressings. Once the medical staff had departed, Jiang Qianyi asked if she felt any discomfort.
“I’m fine,” Wanyi replied. She pulled her sister closer and asked, “Sister, what were you and Shangguan Shi discussing for so long?”
“A disposal plan for a plot of land in the south of the city.”
“Is it very important?”
Jiang Qianyi smiled. “In business, every piece of land is important, but this one is indeed particularly crucial.” She paused before continuing, “Wanwan, our family business is facing a bit of a hurdle right now, and I want to make sure we clear it. I’m going to be quite busy lately. Mom will be back tomorrow morning to stay with you at the hospital because I have to get back to work.”
A chill ran through Jiang Wanyi’s heart.
According to the book, her sister only entered the marriage alliance to resolve a company crisis. Wanyi was the youngest in the family and had always been pampered; even a simple fever as a child would bring the whole family to her side. Now, despite her being in a car accident, her sister could not stay with her and her father remained stuck abroad.
It seemed the company was truly on the brink of disaster.
“Sister, I’m an adult now and my injuries aren’t that bad,” Jiang Wanyi said, tightening her grip on her palms as she tried to stay calm. “If the company is busy, you don’t need to stay here with me. If there is anything I can do to help, please tell me. I’ll do my best.”
A smile touched Jiang Qianyi’s eyes, and she patted Wanyi’s shoulder. “It seems our Wanwan has finally grown up. Don’t worry, the company is in good hands. Your only task right now is to recover.”
After instructing Wanyi to call their parents and let them know she was safe, Qianyi returned to the living area to continue her work. Watching her sister’s retreating back, Wanyi’s eyes dimmed with worry.

The next morning, Jiang Wanyi saw her mother and immediately asked about the state of the company.
“There are no problems with the company, so don’t overthink it,” her mother assured her. “Your sister and father are just busy for the time being. This will pass.”
But what if it doesn’t? Wanyi wondered.
She remembered that the marriage alliance was supposed to happen in a month, which meant the company must already be at the end of its rope. The book never specified the exact cause of the crisis, and Wanyi didn’t understand business. She wondered what she could possibly do.
“Mom, you must be careful while handling company matters. Don’t let anyone plot against you.”
“We’ll be careful,” her mother said with a smile before asking, “Would you like some seafood porridge?”
“Yes… please.”
While they ate, her mother brought up the topic of Jiang Qianyi’s marriage.
“A marriage is always better when the families are of equal status. In my view, Shangguan Shi and your sister are a perfect match. Our families know each other well, and the two of them get along. It’s just that your sister is always unwilling and says she wants to enjoy her freedom for a few more years.” Her mother sighed. “It’s not like I would pressure her to have children. She could still have her fun after getting married.”
“If she’s just going to keep doing what she’s doing, then why pressure her to marry at all?” Wanyi asked.
“Good Alphas are rare. If she keeps delaying it, it will be hard to find someone of high quality later on.”
“You can’t judge people by their surface,” Wanyi countered. “Many Alphas pretend to be one way before marriage and then change completely afterward.”
“You’re right, which is exactly why I want her to be with Shangguan Shi. I’ve watched that child grow up. No matter how much someone pretends, they can’t maintain a facade for thirty years.”
Wanyi thought to herself: Is it possible she hasn’t been pretending for thirty years, but rather she only pretends when she’s in front of you? You only see her polite exterior; you have no idea that beneath that beautiful skin lies a monster who would forcibly take her wife’s corneas.
Pressing her lips together, Jiang Wanyi spoke up. “Sister cannot be with Shangguan Shi.”
“And why is that?”
“Because I like Shangguan Shi,” Wanyi said, gritting her teeth. “I’ve liked her for a long time!”
If the company needed a marriage alliance to be saved, then she would be the one to do it. She knew exactly what kind of person Shangguan Shi was, so she would be on her guard and wouldn’t let herself be hurt. If things turned sour, she would simply call the police immediately.
Seeing her younger daughter’s face turn red as she looked down, her mother laughed. “So that’s the reason. Why didn’t you say so earlier? I almost made a terrible mistake in matchmaking.”
“Shangguan Shi is indeed beautiful and talented, so it’s normal for you to like her. I just didn’t consider it before because she is ten years older than you.”
“I only realized my feelings recently,” Wanyi lied.
“Well, if you like her, then you like her. I’ll go and ask the Shangguan family. If she is also interested, we can settle the matter.”

After finalizing the details of a contract, Shangguan Shi was about to leave when Jiang Qianyi called out to her. “Shangguan.”
Shangguan Shi turned around.
Jiang Qianyi recalled her sister’s behavior on the day of the accident. It turned out that the claim about Shangguan Shi having “ulterior motives” was just a way to test their relationship, and the constant staring hadn’t been out of suspicion, but out of affection. As for that stiff “thank you,” it was likely just a product of shyness.
The thought of acting as a matchmaker for her sister made Qianyi feel a pang of bitterness. Wanyi was still so young, and she constantly worried about her being mistreated. Still, she spoke up.
“Shangguan, are you seeing anyone?”
“No.”
“You aren’t exactly young anymore; you’re already thirty. Have you not considered marriage?” Qianyi continued, “Alpha’s pheromone instability periods are frequent, so it’s better to marry early.”
Unlike an Omega’s heat which occurred every three months, an Alpha’s instability period happened once a month. It was indeed quite frequent.
Facing her close friend, Shangguan Shi answered honestly, “It isn’t that I haven’t considered it. It’s just… I haven’t found a suitable partner.”
“That’s true. Your family is incredibly wealthy, and for a marriage to work, the statuses should be equal. Finding someone on your level is difficult.” Qianyi tapped her fingers on the desk, appearing nonchalant. “If you look at it closely, our family is the only one in Luocheng comparable to yours. An alliance would be the most logical choice.”
Shangguan Shi looked at her, confused.
“You know my parents have always wanted to set us up,” Qianyi said. “But we aren’t a good match. That’s why they want to set you up with my younger sister instead.”
“I am much older than your sister. Wouldn’t that be even less suitable?”
“I thought so too,” Qianyi admitted. “But their idea is for you two to spend some time together and see how it goes. If you think it’s feasible, come over to my house for lunch this weekend.”
Recalling their last meeting at the hospital, Shangguan Shi replied, “I think I’ll pass. Your sister doesn’t seem to like me very much.”
“My sister has already agreed. Last time at the hospital, she was in a bad mood because her head hurt and her hair had been shaved off. It wasn’t directed at you.” After her rapid explanation, Qianyi added, “Think about it carefully. Someone with my sister’s qualities is hard to find, even for you. If you miss this chance, you won’t get another.”
It was true. The Jiang family’s background was equal to the Shangguan family, and Jiang Wanyi was exceptionally beautiful, intelligent, and ten years younger. No matter how one looked at it, the conditions were excellent.
A flicker of emotion passed through Shangguan Shi’s golden eyes. “I will consider it seriously,” she said in a low voice.

By the weekend, Jiang Wanyi had been discharged from the hospital. Her father had returned from abroad, and the family sat together for lunch. There was no fifth person at the table.
“Don’t be sad,” Jiang Qianyi said, trying to comfort her sister. “It’s not that she doesn’t like you. She just doesn’t know you well and thinks you’re too young. She still has a shred of conscience, so she doesn’t want to take advantage of you.”
Jiang Wanyi was indeed upset, but not because the matchmaking had been rejected. She was upset because she was certain the scumbag Alpha was still pining after her sister! She would never let her succeed.
“I understand,” Wanyi said. “She doesn’t like me because we haven’t spent enough time together. I’ll just have to work harder to change that.” She looked up and said, “Sister, send me her WeChat contact.”
If a scumbag Alpha could be seduced by a “Green Tea” Omega at a bar, then a young, beautiful, and sweet Omega like herself would surely be able to win her over.
After lunch, Wanyi returned to her room and opened the chat window for the contact she had saved as “Scumbag Alpha.”
[Sister Shi, it’s Jiang Wanyi.]
[Scumbag Alpha: Hello, Wanwan.]
[Hello, Sister Shi. Why didn’t you come to our house for dinner today? Are you too busy?]
Shangguan Shi had already given the real reason to Jiang Qianyi, but facing Wanyi’s question, she hesitated before typing: [I am a bit busy.]
Wanyi sneered. [When will you not be busy then?]
Shangguan Shi hesitated again. [Wanwan, is there something you need from me?]
[Didn’t my sister tell you? It’s about the marriage alliance.]
[Shy Bunny Emoji]
[Scumbag Alpha: She mentioned it, but I don’t think we are a good match.]
Jiang Wanyi gritted her teeth and typed back:
[Why aren’t we a match? Is it because you think I’m too young? But I’m already an adult.]
When no reply came, Wanyi suppressed her disgust and continued:
[Sister Shi, I really like you. Can you give me a chance? Let’s just spend some time together and see. Maybe we’ll find out that we are a perfect match after all.]
