After Losing My Memory, I Went After My Archenemy - Chapter 29
In a corner no one paid attention to, someone was rejected after confessing their love again.
“Sorry, I already have someone I like.”
Li Luoyi’s expression was calm, as if she were casually declining a street flyer.
“You’ve been saying you like someone since before, rejecting me like this every time.”
Bai Chuchu’s expression uncontrollably turned ugly.
“I have never lied to you about that,” Li Luoyi looked at her without any ripple of emotion.
Bai Chuchu sniffled, “That person is Xia Rou, right? But she doesn’t like you at all, why must you waste your time on her?”
“Whether she likes me or not, I will like her. Bai Chuchu, it’s impossible between us, even without Xia Rou.”
Li Luoyi’s words were almost an ultimatum, extinguishing the last flicker of hope in Bai Chuchu’s heart.
At the school gate, Hu Yudie was waiting there early, having bought a bouquet of flowers to congratulate and celebrate later. Until she saw Bai Chuchu walking towards her with a dark expression, she realized what must have happened, and without a word, she sprinted over and stuffed the flowers in her hand into the trash can.
“Why does she get all the benefits! The head of the Four Young Ladies is her, the school beauty is her, and even the person I like likes her!”
Bai Chuchu messed up her carefully styled hair, removed her hair accessories, and threw them all into the trash can.
The bewildered Hu Yudie stood there blankly, and after a while tentatively suggested, “Since you hate her so much, why not teach her a lesson?”
This time Bai Chuchu didn’t refuse but raised her head fiercely and said with red-rimmed eyes, “The harsher the better. I want to make sure she can never be smug in front of me again.”
Hu Yudie nodded, already formulating a plan to deal with her in her mind.
The Autumn Sports Meet was fast approaching, and the class advisor assigned the class monitor the task of compiling the list of events each student wanted to sign up for by the end of the day.
Taking advantage of the lunchtime, Xia Rou found Lin Xi to ask for her advice.
“Do you think I should sign up for the high jump or the 800 meters?” The Omega looked at her with wide, innocent, and earnest eyes.
Lin Xi suddenly recalled last year’s Autumn Sports Meet, where a certain person was left far behind at the end of the 800 meters and finished in last place.
Truly, she becomes braver with each failure. As she thought about it, a small smile inadvertently curved the corner of her lips.
“High jump,” Lin Xi said casually.
“Then high jump it is!” Xia Rou decisively made up her mind, stood up gracefully, and walked away.
Lin Xi: ?
The day of the Autumn Sports Meet soon arrived.
The sports field was packed with people, the cheerleading squad was performing a youthful and energetic dance routine in neat formations, and everyone was eager to achieve good results this year.
Lin Xi’s event was the short-distance sprint, and Xia Rou had secured a spot in the front row early to cheer her on.
Among the cheers, one voice stood out the most: “Go, Lin Xi! Go, Lin Xi~”
Lin Xi, in the starting position, frowned slightly. The next second, after the gunshot, she sprang out like an arrow, her posture swift and powerful.
Not having time to watch the entire process, Xia Rou, upon receiving a notice, had to return to her class’s location because the class advisor was going to give a pre-game talk to everyone, mostly the same old repetitive safety and injury prevention reminders.
After the talk ended, as Xia Rou was heading to change into her competition uniform, someone suddenly approached and spoke to her.
“Xia Rou, Lin Xi is looking for you.”
“Where is she?” Xia Rou followed the person without much suspicion.
Soon, the two entered an academic building. Only then did Xia Rou couldn’t help but ask, “What does Lin Xi want with me?”
“You’ll know when you get there.” The female student kept quiet, only leading her upstairs.
Perhaps entertaining some romantic fantasies, Xia Rou couldn’t help but let her imagination run wild.
The two went all the way up to the fifth floor. After being led into a room, Xia Rou asked, bewildered, “Where is Lin Xi? I don’t see her.”
The next second, she heard the door slam shut with a bang.
This happened again.
She rushed forward trying to open the door, but this time it was different; the other party was clearly well-prepared, and the door was locked immediately.
Just then, Xia Rou suddenly smelled an indescribable scent, like the pheromones of an alpha in heat.
In that moment, she turned around in horror and despair, only to see a tall, strong male alpha standing before her. He was breathing heavily, his eyes were red as he looked at her, seemingly wanting to devour her entirely, body and soul.
“Hey, calm down first—” Xia Rou pleaded, holding up her hands.
The male alpha lunged at her without a word. Accompanying Xia Rou’s scream, the locked door was violently kicked open the next second. Xia Rou, who had her eyes tightly shut, felt the dark shadow in front of her instantly recoil. She opened her eyes in disbelief to see Lin Xi, who had appeared out of nowhere, wrestling with the man.
It turned out that it was time for Xia Rou’s high jump event, but she had been missing from the field for too long. Sensing something was wrong, Lin Xi immediately came looking for her.
Although both were alphas, an alpha in heat is physically weaker due to hormonal influence. He was clearly no match for Lin Xi and quickly scurried away.
“Did that guy do anything to you?”
Lin Xi immediately knelt down to check on her.
“You saved me again…”
Xia Rou shook her head blankly, still somewhat dazed and not having fully recovered, but also feeling a small sense of relief at surviving the ordeal.
“Let’s get out of here first.”
Lin Xi was about to stand up, but Xia Rou grabbed her hand.
Perhaps overwhelmed by her feelings, she could no longer hold back her inner thoughts: “You’ve helped me repeatedly during this time, and you always show up when I’m in danger and helpless. This proves you have feelings for me. The truth is, I want to say that I like you, Lin Xi. I don’t just want to be your friend; I want to be your girlfriend.”
After the confession, there was an agonizing wait for the answer. Even though the process only lasted a few short seconds, it felt as long as a spring and summer combined.
Lin Xi clenched her hand tightly, suppressing her inner emotions, and said, “We are not suitable.”
“What’s not suitable? How do you know if you haven’t tried?”
Xia Rou pressed for an answer.
Without waiting for a reply, the other person had already turned and walked away, hasty and decisive.
But Xia Rou would not give up. She emerged from the academic building and returned to the sports field, intent on finding Lin Xi to clarify things, but Lin Xi seemed to have vanished into thin air; she was nowhere to be found.
As if obsessed, she was determined to get an answer today.
Xia Rou also refused to accept Lin Xi’s simple dismissal of “not suitable.”
Just as she was frantically searching, she unexpectedly ran into Chi Xiao, who was visiting their school.
“Strange, where did Lin Xi go? I need to find her.”
“I’m looking for her too…” With a sigh, Xia Rou decided to tell Chi Xiao what had just happened. She had a subtle intention here: as someone who understood Lin Xi, Chi Xiao might be able to help her figure things out.
“Oh, I see. I thought it was a big deal!” Chi Xiao said lightheartedly.
“Do you have a solution?” Xia Rou’s eyes lit up, and a small spark of hope was ignited in her heart.
“It’s very simple, especially for people like you and Old Lin who have perfectly matched pheromones. It couldn’t be easier!”
“Really?!”
Chi Xiao nodded, then beckoned her closer with a finger.
Xia Rou leaned her ear in and heard Chi Xiao say, “All you need to do is…”
“Will that really work?”
The Omega couldn’t help but blush, her otherwise flawless cheeks flushed with the red of a sunset.
