After Little Sweet Omega Runs with the Ball - Chapter 4
By the time Song Shuangtian regained her senses, she had already stepped through the gates of a luxurious mansion.
The estate wasn’t far from the city center, and in the distance, she could just make out the towering headquarters of the M Corporation, nestled amidst the bustling urban sprawl.
The omega girl kept rubbing her teeth against the alpha’s neck, each touch making the alpha’s breathing grow more ragged.
Ji Mingxue narrowed her eyes, grabbed Song Shuangtian by the scruff of her neck, and shoved her aside.
“Enough.”
Song Shuangtian stared back at her with teary, unfocused eyes. Whatever this drug was, the cool gel-like texture burned like fire the moment it touched her scent gland, carrying with it an unmistakable, feverish suggestion.
The girl exhaled a slow, heated breath, her knees buckling slightly as she pushed the car door open, nearly collapsing to the ground.
Ji Mingxue steadied her with a firm grip on her elbow. “Be careful.”
This time, her tone was noticeably softer than when she had applied the medication earlier.
The smooth touch of a Hetian jade bracelet brushed against Song Shuangtian’s skin, sending a faint, ticklish sensation through her.
Song Shuangtian vaguely remembered that her mother used to wear jade bracelets too until later.
“You’ll stay at my place tonight. I don’t make a habit of taking advantage of omegas.”
Half-carrying Song Shuangtian, Ji Mingxue led her into the house. The omega girl suddenly tensed, as if sensing something.
Turning her head, she caught sight of a man in a suit standing outside, his pheromones thick and pungent.
That alpha man.
Song Shuangtian’s rationality snapped back into place for a split second. The moment she recognized the man in the distance, every muscle in her body locked up.
Song Jun.
She would never forget Song Jun’s face her father’s illegitimate son.
Just the sight of his lizard-like features made her stomach churn. Though his appearance could be considered handsome, there was something slimy about the way he lurked in the shadows, his gaze always fixed on others like a predator.
Song Jun hadn’t noticed Song Shuangtian yet. Instead, he was speaking earnestly to the butler.
“Has President Ji returned yet? I have urgent business with her. Could you let me in to wait?”
He had clearly seen two figures enter through the slowly opening gates, and an ostentatious luxury car was still parked at the entrance.
The butler smiled politely. “My apologies, sir. President Ji has not yet returned.”
Song Jun’s temples throbbed with anger. He had just seen two people walk in, yet this butler had the audacity to lie to his face.
“Do you know who I am? I’m the future heir of ST Group, here on behalf of the current chairman to discuss a collaboration with M Corporation. Is this how M Corporation treats its guests?”
A flicker of disdain flashed in the butler’s eyes. “With all due respect, if the chairman sends someone with no official position someone whose status is, shall we say, questionable to negotiate, we can only assume ST Group lacks the sincerity required for such a partnership.”
“I’ve heard the heir of ST Group is a beautiful omega woman. You, sir, don’t seem to fit that description.”
It was practically a slap to the face, an outright insult, calling him an illegitimate son unworthy of the spotlight.
Song Jun’s expression twisted for a moment before his gaze fixed on the illuminated stained-glass windows.
Damn it!
If he weren’t desperate to prove himself to his father and salvage ST Group’s crumbling reputation, he would never have stooped so low as to beg for Ji Mingxue’s help!
Song Jun stomped his foot furiously on the spot. He didn’t dare vent his anger at the butler, nor could he throw a tantrum in front of Ji Mingxue’s residence. All he could do was slam the car door shut and floor the accelerator.
The butler remained standing at the entrance, his face adorned with a flawless, impeccable smile.
Inside the mansion, Song Shuangtian exhaled warm breaths, her body nestled in silk bedding.
Her drowsy gaze drifted toward the floor-to-ceiling window beside her.
Only after watching a black car speed away did she slowly close her eyes.
Song Jun had come to see Ji Mingxue for no other reason than to beg for cooperation. A mocking smile curled at the corners of Song Shuangtian’s lips.
M Group was at the peak of its success, why would they ever collaborate with Song Jun?
Ji Mingxue might have a lustful heart, but she wasn’t a fool.
Song Shuangtian reached out and pulled Ji Mingxue, who was sleeping beside her, into her arms. The young woman’s arms were soft, her body carrying the faint, elusive scent of orange blossoms that continuously teased the alpha’s taut nerves.
“You’re running a fever. Don’t move.”
Ji Mingxue still had some conscience left. She brought over a glass of warm water and fed Song Shuangtian the fever-reducing medicine.
Song Shuangtian was parched. A trickle of water slid down her chin, tracing a path along her slender neck before disappearing beneath the collar of her shirt.
The omega and alpha clung tightly to each other, their skin nearly pressed together, close enough to feel the rhythm of each other’s heartbeat.
“Do you know the person outside the window?” Ji Mingxue suddenly asked.
Song Shuangtian shook her head. “Sorry, I don’t.”
She completely masked the derision in her eyes. “Is he someone unpleasant? It seems President Ji didn’t want to see him.”
Ji Mingxue was amused by the junior employee’s tactful words.
“Mm, I don’t like meeting meaningless people. Besides, I can’t stand the pheromones on that man.”
Ji Mingxue was always elegant, noble like the bright moon hanging high in the sky.
Even after the medicine was swallowed, Ji Mingxue didn’t let Song Shuangtian rest just yet.
She called the doctor.
By the time Dr. Li arrived, Song Shuangtian had already fallen asleep. But the pheromones lingering in the air made it clear that the two had just gone through a rather turbulent process of applying medicine.
Her pheromones had surged violently was she entering her heat?
This young lady’s pheromones were unusual. Their intensity resembled what one would expect from someone who had just presented.
Strange. This young lady was already twenty-three. It shouldn’t be possible for her to still be unpresented.
The doctor prepared the medication in front of Ji Mingxue, then filled the syringe.
With his other hand, he swiftly disinfected Song Shuangtian’s arm.
Only then did Ji Mingxue truly take in Song Shuangtian’s appearance. The girl in the bedding had delicate features, her eyelashes fluttering slightly as the needle pierced her skin, causing her brows to furrow faintly.
She was beautiful, like an exquisite doll. Around her neck hung a string of high-quality pearls.
Pearls were perishable, their luster gradually fading over time. Yet it was clear that the necklace around Song Shuangtian’s neck had been worn for years perhaps even longer than she had been alive.
A lovely pearl beauty.
An omega as beautiful as Song Shuangtian had the capital to climb the ranks through her body. But Ji Mingxue had no intention of taking advantage of her illness to seize leverage over her.
She had no desire to take compromising photos or threaten her. She simply watched quietly, pulling the blanket over Song Shuangtian after the doctor left.
As Ji Mingxue, she disdained to engage in such underhanded tactics.
The next day.
When Song Shuangtian woke up, her low fever had subsided, and a high-quality emerald lay on the pillow beside her.
Beneath the gem was a document, and next to it, an employee badge.
At first glance, the overly dazzling emerald caught Song Shuangtian’s attention.
Was this some kind of payment?
She weighed the surprisingly heavy emerald in her hand, inspecting it under the sunlight.
The emerald was flawless both in size and cut, it was of internationally top-tier quality.
Extravagant to the point of being inhuman.
Please, give me more.
The document beneath the gem made Song Shuangtian’s eyes light up even more. It was an invitation to a gemstone selection event in France, and the badge was naturally the pass for the event.
Such an exclusive selection she wasn’t even sure if ST Group had the qualifications to attend. Rubbing her aching temples, Song Shuangtian decided to gather more information.
If she could secure high-quality raw materials before M Group, even at a premium price, it might disrupt M Group’s high-end line for the coming year.
Tucking the emerald into her pocket and hanging the badge around her neck, Song Shuangtian hurried downstairs, only to find a kindly-faced old butler in a suit standing in the dining room.
The butler stepped forward before she could leave.
“Please wait.”
Freshly washed and dressed in Ji Mingxue’s clothes since they’d already been intimate, there was no need for formalities Song Shuangtian felt the lingering scent of magnolia, the alpha’s pheromones clinging to her like a stubborn shadow. A faint blush rose unwittingly on the young omega’s skin as she awkwardly lowered her head. “Is something the matter?”
The butler smiled warmly. “Please, come this way. The kitchen has prepared breakfast.”
The dining table was laden with an extravagant spread Cantonese dim sum, southern-style wontons, even Western cheeses and buttered bread.
The lavish display stunned Song Shuangtian into silence.
Faced with the butler’s ever-gentle smile, she could only murmur, “Thank you.”
After stiffly finishing breakfast, she hastily hailed a cab to the office. Though she’d missed her usual check-in time, her attendance record showed no tardiness.
Half a month later.
On the plane to France with Cui Yu, the latter seemed dazed. “I can’t believe I’m actually attending a gemstone selection event??? Am I even worthy?”
Cui Yu pinched her thigh for what felt like the thirtieth time.
Song Shuangtian sighed. “You’ve said that thirty times already on this trip alone.”
Seeing Cui Yu’s excitement, Song Shuangtian couldn’t bring herself to mention resigning.
The moment she opened her mouth, Cui Yu cut in eagerly, “Do you think we’ll have time to visit the French branch?”
M Group’s first store hadn’t been in their home country but in an upscale French plaza.
Rumor had it that Ji Mingxue’s great-grandmother, half-French, had married into a family of alpha jewelers through a business alliance, opening the first store in France. With masterful craftsmanship and impeccable taste, the brand quickly captivated Europe’s elite and became a supplier to royalty.
As the domestic market grew, M Group shifted focus, eventually relocating its headquarters back home.
After landing, Song Shuangtian slipped on a pair of candy-colored sunglasses, hiding her bright, striking eyes.
“Why wear sunglasses indoors?”
Song Shuangtian smiled without a word, receiving a message as soon as she got off the plane.
“Your family’s illegitimate child is also in France. Be careful not to run into him.”
Song Shuangtian raised an eyebrow as Yuan Yin continued texting, “I just did a Tarot reading for you. Overall, your trip will go smoothly, but you might encounter some unpleasantness.”
Song Shuangtian: “…”
Song Shuangtian: “Last time, you were stargazing at night.”
Yuan Yin: “I’m versatile. I’m a genius, thank you.”
As it turned out, Yuan Yin’s Tarot reading wasn’t wrong. When Song Shuangtian was chauffeured to the selection event, she immediately spotted Song Jun among the crowd of industry heavyweights.
Dressed in an exquisite three-piece suit, Song Jun was desperately trying to blend into conversations with established jewelry moguls.
The alpha’s face was practically stiff from forced smiles, but people only exchanged a few words with him before moving on to more suitable partners.
A flash of resentment flickered in Song Jun’s eyes.
Cui Yu, feeling out of place in this gathering of elites, stuck close to Song Shuangtian, the only person she knew. She whispered, “Xiao Song, you seem… different lately.”
Cui Yu was a beta, so she shouldn’t have been able to detect the scent of Ji Mingxue’s pheromones lingering on Song Shuangtian.
But the problem was, the mix of orange blossom and magnolia was too! damn! strong!
Even a scent patch couldn’t hide it!
“What?”
“Nothing, just you kinda smell like our big boss.”
Song Shuangtian: “…”
What a way with words.
You’ve got quite the mouth on you, do you have a death wish?
As Song Shuangtian and Cui Yu bantered, Song Jun noticed the two of them standing out mostly Cui Yu, while Song Shuangtian appeared effortlessly at ease in the formal setting, even nibbling on a piece of artisanal chocolate.
Song Jun’s gaze swept past them at first, but the moment he recognized Song Shuangtian, his entire face twisted in fury.
He stormed over, glaring viciously. “What the hell are you doing here?!”
Cui Yu flinched at the alpha’s aggression, shooting Song Shuangtian a questioning look: You have beef with this guy?
Song Shuangtian shook her head slightly and murmured for Cui Yu to step aside. “I’ve got this.”
After a moment’s hesitation, Cui Yu decided the security here was tighter than a bank’s, no way a violent incident would break out. Still, she kept an eye from a distance.
Song Jun’s eyes burned with rage. “Song Shuangtian, what kind of scheme are you pulling now? Do you really think Father would hand the inheritance to an omega?”
Song Shuangtian studied the frenzied man calmly, immediately realizing Song Jun had obtained his access pass through shady means.
Around her neck hung M Group’s official badge, earning her polite nods from attendees.
Since ST Group had never publicly acknowledged Song Jun’s status, he couldn’t even secure an ST Group pass. Despite ST’s decline, it still held prestige in high fashion circles any legitimate participant wouldn’t be stuck in such an awkward position.
“You’re too desperate. You came behind Father’s back, didn’t you?”
Her gaze swept over Song Jun’s face. “I have nothing to say to you.”
With that, she leisurely popped the chocolate into her mouth, completely dismissing Song Jun’s existence.
There is an inherent competitive relationship between illegitimate children and legitimate heirs.
This is precisely why Song Shuangtian didn’t stay in her own family’s conglomerate but instead came to M Group as a corporate spy.
ST Group was already rotten to the core.
“Song Shuangtian.”
The name was ground out between gritted teeth, drawing the subtle attention of those nearby. Song Shuangtian took Cui Yu’s hand and said, “Ignore that lunatic.”
“No matter how bad I am, I’m still better than you. You’re an omega, yet you keep dreaming of being an alpha. Oh, right you don’t even have a scent. You’re less of an omega and more like some mediocre beta.”
Cui Yu bristled at those words. Though she didn’t know what history this madman had with Song Shuangtian, it was clear he was looking down on betas.
Not all the guests present were alphas or omegas there were plenty of betas in attendance as well. Gender had no bearing on a person’s achievements in any field.
Song Shuangtian didn’t bother engaging with Song Jun any further. Instead, she walked away hand in hand with Cui Yu.
Before leaving, she even picked up a piece of chocolate she thought was particularly delicious and placed it in Cui Yu’s palm.
Song Jun thought he had won the verbal sparring match with Song Shuangtian, but before he could savor his victory,
an alpha in high heels strode up to him.
The aggressive, icy scent of magnolia forced Song Jun to take half a step back. He jerked his head up and found himself staring straight into Ji Mingxue’s eyes.
“President Ji, you’re here too. What an honor to meet you.”
Instantly, a sycophantic smile plastered itself across Song Jun’s face.
This alpha held absolute authority over M Group, with the power to mobilize all of its resources. The family behind her, and the woman herself, stood at the pinnacle of the domestic even global jewelry industry.
Song Jun quickly pulled a business card from his pocket and offered it to Ji Mingxue with both hands.
Ji Mingxue took it with a flick of her fingers, then tore it to shreds right in front of him.
The pieces fluttered slowly to the ground, and the atmosphere in the room instantly froze over.
The smile on Song Jun’s face began to crack.
Ji Mingxue: “You weren’t very kind to my employee.”
Her gaze swept over the pass hanging from Song Jun’s neck. “Attending as an individual? This selection event is only open to Fortune 500 companies. Aside from a handful of journalists, I can’t think of anyone else who would have an individual pass.”
“Security, please escort this person out for inspection.”
With that, Ji Mingxue stepped over the fragments of Song Jun’s business card in her high heels.
She said lightly, “Since when can anyone casually pick a fight with my people?”
“That little employee is too soft-hearted. What would she do without me?”
