After Little Sweet Omega Runs with the Ball - Chapter 12
Of course, M Group’s influence in the country was unshakable it wasn’t something a few petty schemes could undermine.
Yet, there was no denying that ST Group’s chaotic maneuvers had successfully delayed the opening of several M Group stores.
Real corporate wars often begin in the smallest of details.
The person on the phone seemed afraid of angering Ji Mingxue. “Sorry, we couldn’t find anything.”
Ji Mingxue cursed under her breath “Useless” before hanging up.
In the somewhat worn-out dormitory hallway, she held an unlit cigarette between her lips. The faint scent of tobacco mixed with her alpha pheromones lent the strikingly beautiful woman an air of danger.
Her half-damp, raven-black hair cascaded over her shoulders like dark seaweed. Though her demeanor was sharp and unyielding, the white jade bracelet on her wrist softened her presence, evoking the grace of a delicate Jiangnan beauty.
“I thought you’d sleep in another room.”
When Ji Mingxue entered the dorm, Song Shuangtian was half-asleep, curled up on her pillow while clutching the other half of Ji Mingxue’s blanket.
A vein twitched at Ji Mingxue’s temple. “This is the best accommodation here. Did you expect me to squeeze into a bed with another employee?”
Song Shuangtian lifted her gaze, her doe eyes clear and bright, betraying none of the mischief lurking beneath.
The omega shifted slightly, making space on the other side of the bed, still warm from her body heat.
“Here, sleep.”
Song Shuangtian could clearly sense Ji Mingxue’s foul mood and could guess the reason.
But corporate wars were corporate wars, what did they have to do with a lowly employee like her?
In the deep of night, exhaustion weighed on them both. The alpha’s nape bore faint bite marks not deep, more like playful nips from a kitten that might have made one think she’d been marked by another alpha.
A cold night breeze rattled the window with a soft rustling sound.
Ji Mingxue turned her head to look at Song Shuangtian, already lost in slumber beside her. The omega’s faint orange blossom pheromones seemed to form an invisible barrier, enveloping the alpha within. Here, she could do anything she pleased to the vulnerable omega.
Unaware, Song Shuangtian slept without a shred of caution, oblivious to the gaze above her, heavy with hunger.
After a long pause, a sigh drifted from above.
Today must have frightened her.
Ji Mingxue reached into her handbag and pulled out a diamond necklace, its center stone as large as a knuckle placing it on the bedside table. A gift for her little lover.
Anyone familiar with antiques would recognize it as an exact replica of the one worn by an 18th-century European noblewoman in a famous portrait.
Early the next morning,
When Ji Mingxue awoke, the little employee was already gone.
The overly spacious room held only the lingering trace of pheromones. Ji Mingxue closed her eyes for a moment, fingers brushing the cold sheets beside her before she slowly sat up.
Life at Western Mine No. 3 was dull.
Ji Mingxue spent her days buried in paperwork either reviewing it or on her way to review more.
Lu Xing couldn’t help but remark, “I think you need a vacation.”
Ji Mingxue: “…”
For the first time, the alpha seemed genuinely defeated. “What if I told you this was Song Shuangtian’s idea?”
Lu Xing was stunned. “???”
Ji Mingxue relayed Song Shuangtian’s request, which roughly meant that if she didn’t work, she wouldn’t be able to mark her beautiful and diligent little lover.
Lu Xing: “…” She didn’t understand, but she was deeply shocked.
Has the competition among lovers really escalated to this level now?
Ji Mingxue glanced at the time on her wristwatch. “It’s time for lunch. Where’s the cafeteria here?”
Lu Xing checked the layout on her phone and gave the approximate location of the cafeteria. When she looked up, however, she saw her boss bending over to clean up the mess in the room.
Clothes that had unfortunately fallen to the floor, toppled toiletries, an open suitcase, documents strewn about in complete disarray.
Ji Mingxue continued tidying without pause, tucking a strand of long hair behind her ear.
“I got it, it’s on the third floor to the east.”
Lu Xing was stunned. “Let me help you clean up.”
Heaven knew what kind of household chores could possibly warrant Ji Mingxue, a young lady who had grown up treating gemstones like marbles to do them herself.
In fact, even Lu Xing rarely handled such trivial tasks personally; someone was always assigned to clean up daily.
Just as Lu Xing’s fingers touched the pillow with its disheveled case, the back of her hand was suddenly struck with a sharp force.
A red mark appeared on Lu Xing’s fair skin.
Ji Mingxue picked up a folder and tossed it aside. “I’ll do it. Don’t touch anything.”
Lu Xing: “…”
Really don’t understand the dynamics between these two lovers
A faint trace of impatience or perhaps resignation flitted across Ji Mingxue’s brow. Only after everything was neatly put away did she meticulously wipe her fingers one by one with disinfectant wipes.
As an alpha, she had a cleanliness obsession and couldn’t stand a messy room, though it wasn’t unbearable. The reason the room had been left in such disarray yesterday was likely because she had stubbornly kept Song Shuangtian occupied, preventing any tidying up.
This was as far as Ji Mingxue’s guilt could take her.
After all, her little lover had already accepted her jewelry, hadn’t she?
At the entrance of the cafeteria on the third floor to the east.
Cui Yu was exhausted to the point of resembling a dead dog, her eyes glazed over with hunger she was practically ready to chase after a sheep and take a bite out of its hindquarters.
“Food. I need food.”
Cui Yu had always prided herself on being a white-collar professional, someone who savored the finer things in life. Right now, however, there was no room for such pretenses.
“Give me a lamb chop!” The moment Cui Yu saw the meat, her eyes lit up. “Xiao Song, the lamb chops here are great. Let me get you a few pieces.”
No matter how well-prepared, lamb always carried a natural gaminess.
The moment Song Shuangtian caught a whiff of it, her empty stomach churned violently, and the tea she had just drunk threatened to come back up.
“Ugh!”
Cui Yu stared blankly as Song Shuangtian bent over, covering her mouth with a handkerchief.
“Oh so you can’t eat lamb? I heard they raise saltwater fish here want to try some sashimi instead?”
Song Shuangtian: “…”
She retched even harder.
Song Shuangtian waved a hand weakly. “I don’t feel like eating right now. You go ahead.”
Cui Yu wanted to say more, but Song Shuangtian’s pale face frightened her, and she immediately tried to drag her to the infirmary.
After rinsing her mouth with water, Song Shuangtian’s originally pale lips had turned a deep red from the violent dry heaving.
“I’m fine. I’ve just been overworked these past few days.”
Whether it was an illusion or not, Cui Yu thought she caught a glimpse of an almost radiant, mature glow on Song Shuangtian’s face.
It had to be an illusion!!
Song Shuangtian coughed lightly for a moment before deciding to spend some money and ask the cafeteria uncle to stir-fry her something light.
In the vast desert and Gobi, the price of fresh vegetables was indeed not cheap. Perhaps because Song Shuangtian looked too frail, the canteen uncle didn’t charge her and stir-fried a plate of greens along with cucumber and eggs for her to take back.
At this hour, the canteen staff had already thinned out. Song Shuangtian carried the food, walking weakly toward the exit.
Without looking up, she suddenly collided headlong into someone.
The lunchbox in her hand swayed back and forth, spilling a few drops of broth.
Song Shuangtian raised her head and abruptly locked eyes with Ji Mingxue.
Ji Mingxue frowned, glancing at the transparent lunchbox in her hand. “Is this all you’re eating?”
Song Shuangtian: “…” To be honest, she couldn’t even stomach this much.
The omega’s eyes were slightly red at the corners. She sniffled instinctively and said in a delicate voice,
“My legs feel weak. Could President Ji help me back to the dorm?”
With that, the little corporate spy leaned half her body against Ji Mingxue.
The little corporate spy pondered, the reason she felt so unwell must be because this alpha had been marked by Ji Mingxue, another alpha!
Halfway there, Song Shuangtian, unable to contain her frustration, suddenly bit down on the back of Ji Mingxue’s neck, who was half-carrying her!
Song Shuangtian persisted, “Do you feel bad?”
Ji Mingxue was baffled. “Why should I?”
