After Little Sweet Omega Runs with the Ball - Chapter 10
Without Song Shuangtian around, Ji Mingxue thought she would adjust just fine but reality proved otherwise.
Lu Xing: “President Ji, would you like some coffee?”
Ji Mingxue’s expression was far from pleasant. The pheromones in her body were overly active, keeping her alpha physiology constantly teetering on the edge of collapse.
Beads of sweat dotted the young alpha’s forehead.
A cup of Americano was placed on Ji Mingxue’s desk.
Lu Xing adjusted her glasses.
“Should I call a doctor for you?”
Ji Mingxue’s eyes were unfathomably deep, darker even than the coffee in her cup.
The rich aroma of coffee swirled through the office, white steam spiraling upward.
The alpha took a sip and shook her head. “The way you brew it isn’t as good as hers.”
Lu Xing: “…”
The “her” in question was undeniably Song Shuangtian.
A faint crack appeared in Lu Xing’s composed expression.
“President Ji, I can make another cup.”
By all accounts, Song Shuangtian had already been at Western Mine No. 3 for three days.
Just three days, and Ji Mingxue was already feeling intensely unsettled.
In truth, her nerves had been on edge since the very first day.
Normally, Song Shuangtian didn’t frequent her office much either, but now, with the girl nowhere in sight, the young leader renowned for her rationality and elegant poise found herself increasingly irritable.
“Tell me, was it a mistake to send Song Shuangtian to the mining area? The conditions there really aren’t ideal.”
Lu Xing: “…”
Lu Xing knew her boss didn’t actually need an answer right now.
The alpha waved her off and leaned back in her office chair, her gaze fixed on the floor-to-ceiling window as she endured the discomfort.
She didn’t touch the coffee again.
Restless, headache-inducing, her sharp teeth aching to sink into something.
Ji Mingxue narrowed her eyes. She hadn’t yet realized that her so-called regret over letting Song Shuangtian leave was, in other words, an admission she could no longer function without Song Shuangtian’s pheromones.
Ji Mingxue couldn’t live without that little omega who would bite into her neck, pressing her tongue against her skin with deliberate force.
Western Mining Area
Under the guidance of local staff, Song Shuangtian and Cui Yu descended into the mine for inspection.
Cui Yu looked utterly despondent. “It’s so dark down there. Do we really have to go in?”
The black windbreaker Cui Yu had bought specifically for this trip was torn at the shoulder, the fabric so caked in dust that its original color was unrecognizable. Her fair face was smudged with grime.
Two little beggars.
I feel like the company is forcing me to quit in a roundabout way
Compared to Cui Yu’s despair, Song Shuangtian moved with surprising agility.
The local mine supervisor walking ahead of them couldn’t help but praise,
“Miss Song, you’re the most composed colleague I’ve ever seen. Even the burliest men trembled the first time they came down here.”
Song Shuangtian merely smiled, wiping the sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand.
The excavated mine shaft was lit with harsh, glaring lights, illuminating the underground world in stark brightness.
Scattered across the black rocks were dazzling specks of light, like a river of stars.
A galaxy beneath the earth.
Song Shuangtian had visited mines jointly operated by ST Group and the local government before, but those were exhausted, abandoned pits.
This place was different amidst the plain, unremarkable ugliness of the rocks lay an unexpected brilliance.
Like treasures carefully cradled by stone, nature’s most beloved creations.
“Mmm…”
Song Shuangtian suddenly collapsed, tilting to one side.
A sharp cramp shot through her calf!
The girl’s pupils constricted violently as the swelling on the top of her foot also began to spasm uncontrollably.
The young omega gasped for breath, inhaling the oily, mechanical air around her, while staff members rushed forward,
“Miss Song!”
Gritting her teeth, Song Shuangtian rasped, “My leg cramped.”
“Please sit down first and straighten your leg.”
The manager’s movements were practiced as she massaged the sore spot. Cui Yu watched from the side, her heart pounding with worry.
Cui Yu murmured under her breath, “President Ji is really something, how could she let you come to a place like this?”
Song Shuangtian gave a lazy smile. “I wanted to come.”
The manager fretted, “The temperature difference between above and below ground is extreme. Many employees get cramps, but it’ll pass quickly.”
Internally, the manager couldn’t help but worry this young lady was a VIP from headquarters. What if she complained?
She was counting on headquarters to allocate more funds.
Unaware of the manager’s thoughts, Song Shuangtian rubbed her swollen legs and feet before slowly standing up again.
Thanks to the manager’s skilled massage, the discomfort in her legs had subsided, though her overly swollen feet still ached inside her leather boots.
After touring the mine, the manager led Song Shuangtian into a windowless room.
Inside, the space was filled with data on local mineral distribution. A flicker of excitement passed through Song Shuangtian’s calm eyes.
“Of course, no phones or cameras are allowed in here.”
The manager added apologetically, “I’m afraid everyone entering this office must surrender their phones.”
She had expected resistance after all, the big boss wasn’t known for being approachable, and those favored by her tended to be a bit haughty.
But Song Shuangtian complied without protest, placing her phone on the shelf by the door before entering with Cui Yu to examine the local mineral yield reports.
At first glance, it seemed unremarkable until Song Shuangtian nearly cursed aloud.
Damn.
How had Ji Mingxue discovered such an incredible vein?
If mined to its full potential, the high-quality diamond reserves alone could account for over 20% of the world’s current diamond supply.
That was a staggering figure not to mention the rare gemstones. If fully extracted, the sapphire deposits alone would be enough to monopolize the market.
Song Shuangtian resisted the urge to pinch the bridge of her nose. The young omega felt dizzy.
Seeing her grave expression, the manager scratched her head, assuming she was dissatisfied with the projected output.
With an awkward chuckle, she said, “These are just conservative estimates. Actual extraction could increase the yield by another 20 to 30 percent.”
Song Shuangtian: “…”
Meanwhile,
A black off-road vehicle plowed through the yellow sand, cutting an unstoppable path across the desert.
When it finally halted in the open space outside the mining dormitory, the door swung open, and a black leather boot hit the ground first.
Ji Mingxue, clad in a trench coat, wore sunglasses with a delicate pearl chain draped over her ears.
“Where is Song Shuangtian?”
Her first words were about her omega.
An alpha could usually endure her rut with suppressants, barely keeping the primal restlessness at bay but ever since encountering this little omega, Song Shuangtian.
Ji Mingxue glanced at the pile of so-called pheromone suppressants utterly useless junk.
A gust of yellow sand swept through the air as the local company executive hurried over, wiping the grit from his face.
“Designer Song and Cui Yu are at the mining site. They won’t be back until around four in the afternoon.”
The man pulled out his phone. “Should I call them back now, President Ji?”
Ji Mingxue’s eyes darkened. “No need. Take me to her dorm.”
She knew the living conditions here weren’t great, but given the massive annual funding, they shouldn’t be this bad.
So, when Ji Mingxue saw Song Shuangtian’s shabby room,
She turned back with a serious expression. “Manager Wang, you took the wrong path.”
Sweat beaded on Manager Wang’s forehead. “President Ji, this is Designer Song’s residence.”
Ji Mingxue: “You’re telling me she lives in a place where even the chairs are missing a leg?”
She casually set her handbag on the rickety table by the door, which wobbled precariously before barely steadying itself.
Ji Mingxue: “…”
She tilted her head and fixed Manager Wang with a sharp look. “You’d better tell me M Group has gone bankrupt. Otherwise, I can’t accept that my employees are living worse than beggars.”
