After Knowing the Plot, I Ended Up with the Female Supporting Character - Chapter 5
Ye Chuxia had always been a meticulous planner. After making her decision, she staked out locations based on information gathered from the school forum.
Of course, relying on the forum’s mix of truth and falsehoods wasn’t Ye Chuxia’s first choice. She would have preferred hiring a private detective to investigate Yi Nanyan’s movements. However, given Yi Nanyan’s wealthy background, she might be well-guarded, and hiring a detective could easily blow her cover.
Sometimes, Ye Chuxia even found herself a bit frightening. She was capable of anything to achieve her goals. But that didn’t matter; no one would ever discover how truly terrifying she could be.
Unaware of Ye Chuxia’s schemes, Yi Nanyan spent little time on campus and wasn’t close with her classmates. She usually vanished as soon as class ended, paying little attention to her fellow students.
Yet, perhaps due to recent events, Yi Nanyan immediately noticed Ye Chuxia sitting in the front row as she entered the classroom. The other student was deeply engrossed in writing, oblivious to her presence.
For some inexplicable reason, Yi Nanyan felt inexplicably annoyed.
But she didn’t show it. She casually found an empty seat and sat down, paying little attention after the teacher arrived.
Though many saw Yi Nanyan as aloof and arrogant—a perception not entirely unfounded—she was actually very diligent in class. Even in university, she never missed a lecture and listened attentively, never half-heartedly.
Of course, occasional distractions were inevitable. After all, she wasn’t particularly fond of studying.
When class ended, Yi Nanyan instinctively glanced toward the seat to her left front, only to find it empty.
Over the following days, Yi Nanyan noticed that the girl was usually present during this finance class, though occasionally absent—whether skipping class or for some other reason, she couldn’t tell.
A month passed uneventfully, and Yi Nanyan grew accustomed to the girl’s presence in the classroom, as well as her habit of being the first to bolt after class.
So when one day she saw the girl still slumped over her desk long after class had ended, Yi Nanyan immediately sensed something was wrong.
She hesitated for a long moment, then couldn’t resist meddling. With hesitant steps, she approached and stood before the girl.
Ye Chuxia felt a shadow fall over her. She instinctively looked up, her eyes brightening. “Young Lady!”
Yi Nanyan pursed her lips, her gaze lingering on Ye Chuxia’s pallid complexion. Her voice carried a hint of awkwardness as she asked, “Hey, what’s wrong?”
“It’s that time of the month,” Ye Chuxia said, looking pitiful. “Young Lady, do you have any sanitary pads?”
Yi Nanyan paused, then shook her head. Her periods were always regular, so she never kept such supplies on hand. After a moment’s thought, she added, “I should have some in my car.” She gestured toward Ye Chuxia with her chin. “Wait here.”
Seeing Ye Chuxia nod, she turned and left the classroom.
Yi Nanyan’s parking spot was quite a distance away, and her high heels made it impossible to walk quickly. By the time she found her car, some time had already passed.
She rummaged through the car, retrieved the sanitary pads and put them in her bag. After a moment’s consideration, she also grabbed a cardigan. She closed the car door and had barely taken a few steps before doubling back to remove her high heels with a curse. After slipping on her sneakers, she stormed back with an unmistakably disgruntled expression.
Yi Nanyan, who usually takes great care of her fitness, arrived at the classroom only slightly winded, more so from the heat than anything else.
She strode over to Ye Chuxia with an irritated expression, flung her bag onto the desk, and looked less like someone there to help and more like someone ready to pick a fight. “Hey!”
Startled by the loud thud of the bag hitting the desk, Ye Chuxia jerked her head up, her almond-shaped eyes blurred by tears, the moisture making her vision hazy.
Yi Nanyan recoiled in surprise. “What are you crying for?!”
Ye Chuxia’s lips pressed into a downturned line. “I thought you weren’t coming back.”
Her nose was red, her tears flowing as if someone had committed some unforgivable crime. Yi Nanyan felt uncomfortable just looking at her, wanting to shout at her, but knowing that with this crybaby personality, such an approach would only make her cry harder. With a dark expression, she forced herself to endure it, bending down to tie the open robe around Ye Chuxia’s waist.
In the past, even when helping others, Yi Nanyan had never done anything herself. At most, she’d give instructions to her assistant or hand over the necessary items and leave it at that. After all, they were all adults—did she have to coddle them like babies?
But this…
Yi Nanyan thought, Kids these days can’t even cry properly. They have no adult independence whatsoever, and their faces are as pale as paper—probably cramping from their period. Reluctantly, she pinched her nose and helped Ye Chuxia, tying the belt around her waist. Only then did Yi Nanyan stand up and snap, “Hurry up and get out of here!”
Ye Chuxia stood unsteadily, her eyes brimming with gratitude. “Thank you,” she said. “You’re such a good person.”
“I know I’m a good person—I don’t need you to tell me!” Yi Nanyan gritted her teeth, barely restraining the urge to curse at her.
Who in this day and age likes to be called “a good person” by strangers? she thought. A dimwit who can’t even remember her own period!
Though inwardly seething, Yi Nanyan reluctantly reached out to steady Ye Chuxia’s arm. Ye Chuxia blinked, then took advantage of the situation and leaned against her, looking embarrassed. “Sorry, I got up too quickly. I’m a little dizzy.”
Yi Nanyan pressed her lips together. Considering Ye Chuxia’s fragile state, she barely managed to suppress her biting retort. “Are you steady now?” she asked coldly. “Don’t you know you’re as heavy as a pig?”
“?” Weight had always been a sensitive topic for women. Ye Chuxia immediately pouted in protest. “I’m only about eighty-something pounds! How am I heavy?!”
Yi Nanyan paused, looking at Ye Chuxia in surprise.
Ye Chuxia had a round face and usually wore clothes that didn’t accentuate her figure. From appearances alone, one might think she had a small frame and slender build, not that she was excessively thin.
But this weight genuinely startled Yi Nanyan. Without heels, they were about the same height, yet Ye Chuxia was nearly twenty pounds lighter. That weight was genuinely alarming.
No wonder she suffers from painful periods if she doesn’t take care of herself!
However, this was a personal matter, so Yi Nanyan said nothing further and simply escorted her to the restroom entrance.
Ye Chuxia shuffled inside slowly, retreating into a stall. She glanced down at her open blouse and smiled.
Today was indeed the start of her period—she hadn’t lied about that. But everything else was a fabrication. Before class, she’d even deliberately downed a glass of ice water and eaten an ice cream cone to make her act more convincing.
Honestly, if she weren’t indifferent to the entertainment industry, Ye Chuxia believed her peerless acting skills could easily have earned her an Academy Award.
After a long while, Ye Chuxia emerged from the restroom—a public one, heavily used daily. Even standing outside, a faint, unpleasant odor lingered. Yi Nanyan, accustomed to luxury, found the smell unbearable after just a moment. When Ye Chuxia finally emerged, Yi Nanyan was tempted to snap at her, blaming her for this ordeal. But remembering Ye Chuxia’s notorious tearfulness, she managed to restrain herself.
As Yi Nanyan walked ahead, she noticed Ye Chuxia lagging behind. She slowed her pace, but even then, Ye Chuxia reached out and grabbed her sleeve.
At that moment, Yi Nanyan had only one thought: Did that girl wash her hands after using the restroom?
Ye Chuxia looked up at her. From this angle, her already lovely features seemed even more animated. Embarrassed, she murmured, “Could you please slow down?”
Yi Nanyan paused, pursed her lips, and mumbled a vague agreement. She stepped back a few paces to walk parallel with Ye Chuxia, shooting her a sideways glance before resuming her slow walk. Though they walked side by side, she maintained a deliberate half-meter distance.
Ye Chuxia blinked, clutching her stomach as if in discomfort, and glanced repeatedly at Yi Nanyan as if wanting to say something. Yi Nanyan noticed but deliberately pretended not to see.
After all, she’d already done enough. What if this trouble magnet needed more favors?
With this thought, Yi Nanyan remained silent throughout the walk. When they reached the dormitory entrance, she was about to leave when Ye Chuxia once again tugged at her sleeve. As if mustering all her courage, she looked at Yi Nanyan with hopeful eyes and asked, “Young Lady, could you give me your WeChat?”
“Hmph,” Yi Nanyan retorted, raising her chin at Ye Chuxia’s glistening eyes. “No.”
“But how will I return your clothes?” Ye Chuxia asked.
“Just toss them,” Yi Nanyan replied, giving her a puzzled look. As if she’d ever wear clothes someone else had worn!
“Oh.” Ye Chuxia lowered her head, looking dejected. “Then… I still want to treat you to a meal.”
Yi Nanyan nodded stiffly, initially intending to refuse without hesitation. But then she remembered how far she’d walked under the blazing sun—she couldn’t let it go to waste. Reluctantly, she pulled out her phone.
Ye Chuxia’s face lit up with a smile. Watching her, Yi Nanyan felt as if the drooping cat ears on Ye Chuxia’s head had suddenly perked up.
After Ye Chuxia added her, Yi Nanyan put away her phone and left.
Ye Chuxia watched her retreating figure. Yi Nanyan walked with the grace of a proud, aloof phoenix. Countless people envied her, coveted her, and yearned to become her—but none could ever truly be her.
In a good mood, Ye Chuxia turned and headed back to her dormitory. Meanwhile, Yi Nanyan sat in her car, lowered the air conditioning temperature, and glanced at the little red dot on her phone. She casually tapped “Add,” then typed a note: Fool.
After a moment’s thought, she deleted those words and replaced them with: Troublemaker.
Wasn’t that exactly what she was? Every time they met, nothing good ever came of it.
On the other side, Ye Chuxia immediately entered Yi Nanyan’s WeChat Moments the moment she received approval.
Fortunately, Yi Nanyan hadn’t set her Moments to expire after three days, allowing Ye Chuxia to secretly snoop through her posts.
Yi Nanyan didn’t post frequently. Her last update was three months prior, a wordless photo of a recently neutered cat looking utterly dejected.
