After Knowing the Plot, I Ended Up with the Female Supporting Character - Chapter 10
When Ye Chuxia remained silent, she resembled a lifelike mannequin displayed in a shop window—a delicate, beautiful doll designed to captivate passersby, making them long to take her home.
But the moment she opened her mouth, she could make anyone so furious they’d be ready to spit fire.
At least, that’s how Yi Nanyan felt.
As soon as the doctor finished applying the ointment, Yi Nanyan immediately stood up.
Carrying someone on her back while wearing high heels had been a strain from the start. Though she could walk effortlessly in heels, they were still more tiring than flats.
Yi Nanyan hadn’t noticed the problem earlier, but as she stood up again, a sharp pain in her legs made her frown, clearly disgruntled.
After scanning the QR code to pay, Yi Nanyan shot Ye Chuxia a disdainful glance and held out her arm, gesturing for her to lean on it.
Ye Chuxia blinked and politely declined, “No need, Big Sister Nanyan. I feel much better now and can walk on my own. I won’t trouble you.”
Yi Nanyan snorted, her mood souring further. “Suit yourself,” she snapped, her tone frosty.
As if oblivious to the tension, Ye Chuxia hopped out of the clinic on her uninjured leg, her ponytail bouncing adorably with each step.
“Idiot!” Yi Nanyan rolled her eyes and yanked Ye Chuxia’s arm. “Do you want to fall again?”
“Because Big Sister Nanyan is here~” Ye Chuxia replied sweetly, deliberately softening her voice. She looked up at Yi Nanyan with an innocent smile, making it impossible to stay angry.
Yi Nanyan thought she was immune to such tactics. She snorted again, pretending not to be affected, and helped Ye Chuxia out of the clinic.
The doctor watched the two figures walk away, bewildered. Wasn’t it just a minor scrape? Why were they acting as if someone had broken their leg and couldn’t walk?
Yi Nanyan remained oblivious to the issue, while Ye Chuxia deliberately ignored it. After all, she was pampered and delicate—what was so strange about her being unable to bear the pain from such a “severe” injury?
Although the pain was nearly gone after applying the ointment, she believed it would completely disappear after a good night’s sleep.
She shuffled slowly, moving at a pace barely faster than a turtle’s crawl. Yi Nanyan deliberately slowed her steps to accommodate her, though Ye Chuxia was the one steering the direction.
Leaning against her, Ye Chuxia asked, “Big Sister Nanyan, where are we going?”
“Back to the dormitory,” Yi Nanyan replied, glancing at her. The thought of climbing the dormitory stairs without an elevator gave her a headache. Carrying someone on flat ground was no problem, but trying to do it while exhausted… they’d probably both end up six feet under.
“Why are we going back to school?” Ye Chuxia’s eyes widened in surprise. “Didn’t we agree to have dinner together today?”
Yi Nanyan chuckled dryly, shooting her a sidelong glance. “Dinner? In your current state?”
Although Ye Chuxia had planned to order an outrageously expensive meal to take advantage of Yi Nanyan’s treat, she wouldn’t be so reckless as to go out while injured.
“We can just take a taxi!” Seeing Yi Nanyan’s lingering disapproval, Ye Chuxia swung their arms playfully and pouted. “I’m fine, Big Sister Nanyan—we just saw the doctor, remember? He said it’s nothing serious!”
The term “Big Sister” is a subtle form of address. While it’s common these days to call people “Young Lady” or “Miss,” not everyone appreciates such familiarity. Some might even find it presumptuous.
However, when someone is as attractive as Ye Chuxia, even her casual demeanor is forgiven, as if she’s naturally endowed with a charm filter.
To be honest, Ye Chuxia wasn’t even sure if Yi Nanyan was older or younger than her, but that didn’t stop her from using the term. This form of address is more effective than simply using someone’s name, as it lowers their guard and subtly triggers protective instincts.
Except for troublemakers, most people have an innate desire to protect the young.
Though Ye Chuxia was far from childlike, she knew how to exploit this instinct.
At least Yi Nanyan was completely susceptible to it.
Even Yi Nanyan herself didn’t realize how susceptible she was to this tactic. As a self-proclaimed “cute animal lover,” she couldn’t resist it. Just like how she had unconsciously taken in over a dozen stray cats, simply because they gazed at her with their round, innocent eyes, she would surrender willingly.
Of course, Ye Chuxia wasn’t a cat. She wasn’t particularly cute, but her innocent appearance and soft voice embodied that universally irresistible “little sister” image. Despite having resolved to send this troublemaker back, Yi Nanyan found herself mindlessly agreeing.
By the time Yi Nanyan came to her senses, Ye Chuxia had already hailed a taxi. The air around her grew even heavier. From the moment she got in the car, she didn’t utter a single word, her oppressive aura so thick that even the usually talkative taxi driver didn’t dare break the silence.
The restaurant Ye Chuxia had chosen wasn’t exactly modest. If she were dining alone, she would never have chosen such a place. But for Yi Nanyan, it was still a type of establishment she rarely frequented.
Glancing at the crowded elevator, Yi Nanyan’s disdain intensified. Yet she wasn’t foolish enough to show it openly. Only after the crowd at the elevator entrance thinned did she pull Ye Chuxia inside.
Ye Chuxia noticed that Yi Nanyan had deliberately positioned herself to shield Ye Chuxia in the corner, protecting her from being jostled by the crowd. Meanwhile, the child in the stroller nearby kept reaching out to pat Yi Nanyan’s arm with sticky hands.
Fortunately, she only intended to persuade Ye Chuxia to invest in her project, not outright deceive her. Otherwise, Ye Chuxia felt she would have a guilty conscience.
Considering how kind Yi Nanyan was, Ye Chuxia decided that even if she disliked people making faces at her, she could afford to be a little less annoyed.
As Ye Chuxia backed up, nearly reaching the corner of the elevator, Yi Nanyan reached out and pulled her back, her expression dark as she stared into Ye Chuxia’s bright eyes. “What are you doing? Don’t you know how dirty elevators are?”
Ye Chuxia smiled, tugging at the hem of Yi Nanyan’s clothes. “Big Sister Nanyan, if you just move a little closer to me, it won’t be so cramped.”
“…No need,” Yi Nanyan replied coldly after a moment of silence.
Yi Nanyan wasn’t the type to suffer a loss for the sake of appearances. When entering the elevator, she had unhesitatingly claimed a spot in the not particularly crowded space. She disliked excessive physical contact, so there was still a noticeable gap between her and Ye Chuxia.
The elevator wasn’t especially crowded, thanks to the baby stroller also being present. Yi Nanyan’s behavior, therefore, didn’t draw any complaints from the other passengers.
Of course, Ye Chuxia was perfectly content, but Yi Nanyan was less than pleased. She didn’t like children, especially this particular child who had just been chewing on her hand moments before. However, the elevator moved quickly, so Yi Nanyan decided she could tolerate it for the moment.
As soon as the elevator arrived, Yi Nanyan immediately pulled Ye Chuxia out. Following the server’s guidance to their reserved seats, she quickly grabbed wet wipes and meticulously wiped down the area several times before feeling slightly more at ease.
Ye Chuxia, smiling brightly, handed Yi Nanyan the menu. “Big Sister Nanyan, what would you like to order?”
Yi Nanyan stared into her eyes for a few seconds, a flicker of mischief in her gaze. After a moment, she looked away. “You choose. I’ll eat whatever you pick.”
Hmph! she thought. I’ll let you off the hook today, but just wait until you’re fully recovered. Then I’ll make you pay!
Ye Chuxia, oblivious to Yi Nanyan’s complex emotions, took the menu and proceeded to order everything herself without showing it to her.
To be honest, Ye Chuxia was genuinely afraid of letting Yi Nanyan order. The restaurant’s average price range was between 400 to several thousand yuan per person. Given Ye Chuxia’s current spending habits, she could only afford to spend up to 1,000 yuan for a two-person meal. Any more, and it would hurt her wallet far too much.
Normally, Ye Chuxia spent only about ten to twenty yuan a day on food. Choosing this restaurant was already a compromise for her, a concession to not being too stingy.
Yi Nanyan was unaware of this, but she knew Ye Chuxia would never normally dine at a place like this. She understood the lifestyle of ordinary college students well enough: even if they didn’t eat in the cafeteria, they’d usually go to a nearby restaurant. Yi Nanyan had once tried one of these places herself, but left without even ordering anything, and never returned.
She had no interest in experiencing the lives of ordinary people. What brought her comfort and pleasure was the primary consideration when choosing food and clothing, while price was an afterthought, almost irrelevant.
Since she’d completely let Ye Chuxia order whatever she wanted, and had been preoccupied with wiping herself down with wet wipes during the ordering process, Yi Nanyan hadn’t paid much attention to what Ye Chuxia actually ordered. So when the dishes arrived, Yi Nanyan fell silent.
The vibrant, crimson hue of the dishes was mouthwatering. Yi Nanyan stared at the red peppers for several seconds before looking up at Ye Chuxia.
Ye Chuxia looked back innocently. “What’s wrong?” After a pause, she asked nervously, “Big Sister Nanyan, can you not handle spicy food?”
Yi Nanyan shook her head. Her mother was from Sichuan, so how could she not handle spicy food? She simply avoided heavy flavors to maintain her skin’s health.
Yi Nanyan could tolerate sacrificing certain foods for beauty. After all, she wasn’t a foodie, so abstaining wasn’t difficult.
“That’s a relief,” Ye Chuxia said with a relieved smile. “My roommate raved about this Sichuan restaurant’s authenticity, so I chose this place. I hope it’s as good as she said.”
Ye Chuxia’s roommate had indeed recommended the place, but the real reason Ye Chuxia chose it was because online reviews were overwhelmingly positive, and the location conveniently aligned with her upcoming plans.
Yi Nanyan remained skeptical. She’d never heard the restaurant mentioned by her food-obsessed circle, suggesting the food was likely unremarkable.
Her skepticism proved justified. The dishes were inferior to her own chef’s work, though the restaurant’s claim of authenticity wasn’t entirely false. As Yi Nanyan took a break from eating, she glanced at Ye Chuxia and saw her flushed cheeks, sweat beading on her nose, and eyes watering from the spice. Startled, Yi Nanyan exclaimed, “Hey, what’s wrong?!”
