After His Wife Left, the Disabled Tycoon Stood Up - Chapter 7
Chapter 7: Just a Bed Partner
Shen Changting’s leg disability was acquired later in life; as for how exactly he was injured, no one knew—including Chen Xie.
It seemed to be a secret hidden within No. 32 Deep Water Bay.
One could not ask; one could not mention it.
Chen Xie returned to the office building. The secretary who had followed him for two years was gone, and HR had hired a new one—a local Hong Kong woman named A-Yue. She had a heavy Hong Kong accent and was perky, lively, and very ambitious, but breaking in a new person was never quite as satisfying.
Chen Xie had A-Yue contact a local practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine to prepare several packs of foot-soak herbs for promoting blood circulation. When A-Yue returned with the herb packs, she heard the security guard downstairs talking about the former Secretary Li.
The guard said Secretary Li had jumped ship to Ma Tianyuan’s company, with a salary twice as high as what she made at Guangqi Technology.
The colleagues in HR and Finance were greatly shocked.
When Secretary Li resigned, she claimed it was for marriage leave; Chen Xie had even given her an extra subsidy as a wedding gift.
Up and down the company, everyone was saying Secretary Li’s actions were dishonorable.
Be that as it may, many employees began to feel a sense of crisis. After all, Secretary Li had followed Chen Xie from the early days and was practically raised by him; both were from the mainland, yet even that couldn’t keep her there.
It seemed Guangqi Technology really was going to collapse.
The news of Secretary Li’s job hop spread like wildfire through Guangqi Technology. Chen Xie naturally heard of it as well, but he couldn’t very well rush to Ma Tianyuan’s company to demand an explanation—it would be beneath his dignity, and Chen Xie didn’t do things that were useless.
Friday, 7:30 PM.
Chen Xie brought A-Yue to the Hong Kong pier to attend the banquet. While boarding, he ran into Shen Changting’s driver, who seemed to be waiting there specifically for him.
“Uncle Liu,” Chen Xie greeted him.
“President Chen.” Uncle Liu reminded him: “Chairman Shen went to play chess with the elder Mr. Zhong tonight and won’t be attending this night cruise. But… Zhong Yue will likely be here tonight. Be careful, and call the Chairman if anything happens.”
“Alright. I bought some blood-circulation medicine for Chairman Shen; I’ll go to Deep Water Bay to see Teacher Shen tonight.” After expressing his thanks, Chen Xie boarded the luxury cruise ship with his invitation to tour Victoria Harbour by night.
The new secretary, A-Yue, accompanied him as his female companion. A-Yue quickly located the CEO of the Suzhou Technology Park and pointed out the position to Chen Xie. Chen Xie picked up a glass of champagne and stood up, leaving the jacket draped over his arm for A-Yue, who was wearing a short skirt.
A-Yue’s eyes crinkled. She praised him in an exaggerated, playful manner: “Thank you, Boss. The cold wind turned into a warm breeze; I’m moved to the core!”
“You really know how to coax people.”
Chen Xie left with a smile, offering a toast with his champagne. With the scenery of Victoria Harbour as an opening, the two of them were soon deep in conversation.
Chen Xie asked about advanced equipment. The other party saw that Chen Xie had orders to place and said with a chuckle that this trip to Hong Kong was too rushed; he told Chen Xie to find time to come to Suzhou to talk, promising him a discount.
Chen Xie and the man successfully exchanged contact information.
Chen Xie leaned his back against the railing. He had been busy beyond belief with work these past two days and hadn’t gone to check the place where he’d been struck last week; he guessed it had bruised over, as it even hurt to touch. He supported his waist and rubbed it, saying with a smile, “I’ll be free next week. I will definitely come to pay a proper visit to President Wang.”
“President Chen is too polite.”
President Wang looked toward A-Yue, who was smiling at Chen Xie from not far away. “Did President Chen come alone?”
Chen Xie shifted his body to block the view. “I came with my secretary.”
President Wang’s face cooled slightly. “Is President Chen from the mainland?”
“Yes, from Zhejiang.”
“Oh… that’s quite close. Your accent sounds familiar too.” President Wang laughed loudly. “President Chen’s secretary is really supple and pretty; I noticed her when I was boarding. Is it convenient to make an introduction?”
Chen Xie pursed his lips and accompanied him for a drink. “The young girl is naive and wouldn’t know how to keep President Wang company.”
President Wang slapped Chen Xie heavily on the shoulder. Not far away, Zhong Yue, holding champagne and embracing a beauty, gave a laughing shout of “President Wang!”
“Mr. Zhong!” President Wang walked over with a smile.
President Wang and Zhong Yue sat down with beaming faces, chatting over their drinks in a way that no one else could join. Chen Xie naturally didn’t make a fool of himself and returned to A-Yue’s side. A-Yue asked nothing, handing him some pastries and saying that eating more sweets makes for a better mood.
Chen Xie ate a piece. His craving for a smoke kicked in, and he stood up to go to the front deck of the ship for a cigarette. He held the cigarette between his lips, the tip glowing with a crimson light, his head tilted back slightly as he exhaled smoke into the night.
He had only smoked half a cigarette when his phone rang—it was a local Hong Kong number that Chen Xie knew all too well. He answered it. “Teacher Shen…”
From the other end came Shen Changting’s low, gravelly chuckle—exceptionally sexy. “Mhm.”
“I got President Wang’s contact information. Thank you, Teacher Shen.” Chen Xie paused. “Are you free tonight? I want to come to Deep Water Bay to accompany you.”
“I’ll have the driver pick you up. Did you see Zhong Yue?”
“I saw him. I won’t cause trouble for you.”
Shen Changting laughed loudly. On the other end of the phone, a waiter invited Shen Changting to go play chess. Chen Xie took the initiative to end the call. “Teacher Shen, please go ahead with your business.”
Chen Xie hung up the phone and shook out another cigarette from the pack. After finishing it, he went to the bathroom before returning to the inner cabin.
When Chen Xie went back, he looked around but couldn’t find A-Yue anywhere, and her phone wouldn’t go through. He asked a waiter, who said he hadn’t seen her. Chen Xie had the waiter accompany him to the restrooms to look, but there was still no one.
Vanishing along with A-Yue was President Wang.
Chen Xie’s brow turned cold. He knew that this luxury yacht had private cabins, and he knew that if he were to barge in, he would inevitably offend many people and might even make things difficult for Shen Changting. After all, his invitation had been given by Shen Changting.
When Chen Xie returned from the restroom area, he ran head-on into Zhong Yue. Zhong Yue tilted his chin up and smiled at him. “President Chen, we meet again.”
The waiter took his leave dejectedly.
Chen Xie was blocked at the doorway. “Mr. Zhong, where is A-Yue?”
Zhong Yue shrugged. “I drank too much, I don’t remember clearly… Who is A-Yue? How about President Chen relieves me instead? It’s not out of the question that I’ll remember immediately, hahahaha…”
Zhong Yue’s eyes greedily scanned Chen Xie up and down. The white shirt was meticulously tucked into the trousers, the deep black vest outlining the physique very clearly. The casual tie and the detailed shirt buttons exuded an air of refined, cold sophistication everywhere.
There were still faint red marks on Chen Xie’s neck, looking like they were pressed by fingertips, or like marks left after an intimate encounter. They say that people with physical ailments are intensely crazy in certain aspects. Looking at Shen Changting, who was dressed so properly, he didn’t expect the man wouldn’t even count as a gentleman.
Then again, facing such a beautiful face, Zhong Yue wished he could play with him until he died.
What ‘gentleman’ could there be to speak of.
Zhong Yue raised his hand to touch Chen Xie’s face. “Just let me have a taste. Just once, and I’ll hand over the resources of President Wang and President Ma to you with both hands. What does it matter who you accompany?”
Chen Xie pinched Zhong Yue’s wrist, stopping his touch. “Mr. Zhong, it’s currently time for the legislative elections. If you cause a scene at a time like this, aren’t you afraid your father will blame you?”
Zhong Yue’s eyes suddenly stung with malice. “Chen Xie, if you’re going to be this ungrateful, I won’t feel sorry for you anymore.”
Zhong Yue had always liked playing with ‘clean’ ones.
Being able to take an interest in Chen Xie was considered Chen Xie’s good fortune; with Chen Xie being so ungrateful time and time again, his patience was limited.
Shen Changting was currently playing chess with his grandfather; how could he possibly fall out with the Zhong family for the sake of Chen Xie?
Just a bed partner—Zhong Yue would play with him if he wanted!
