- Chapter 30 - A Storm Brews at the Bottom of the Cave
The weather in the Demon Realm was unpredictable. Yesterday he was wearing thin clothes, but at noon today, Qiu Fuxue shivered from the cold the moment he stepped out of the room.
He went back and put on a thicker coat, then held something in his palm as he went to the library.
He moved some ancient books on a bookshelf, and a dark mist ball came out from behind.
Qiu Fuxue spread out his palm and offered it to the mist ball. Inside was a piece of torn fabric from an article of clothing.
The shrunken and deformed Tribulation Cloud swallowed the fabric whole.
“How is it?” Qiu Fuxue asked nervously.
The entire Tribulation Cloud changed between light and dark. A quarter of an hour later, it finally nodded.
A weight was lifted from his heart, and Qiu Fuxue let out a sigh of relief.
That day, he and the Tribulation Cloud met in the library. Looking at the ever-changing vicious spirit, a plan suddenly formed in his mind.
He omitted a part of the truth and asked the Tribulation Cloud for help to unseal the Moon Shadow Wall, to take him to the stone cave where the Moon Shadow Wall was sealed, rather than directly entering the Moon Shadow Wall itself.
Fifteen’s face, with its unblinking eyes, kept appearing in his mind. Qiu Fuxue had a feeling that the Moon Shadow Wall was connected to Jiufang Cangze in some way. To avoid alerting the enemy, it would be best not to go in directly.
The Tribulation Cloud happily agreed, but the entrance to the stone cave had already been moved by Jiufang Cangze. It needed a medium to sense the location.
At that moment, Qiu Fuxue suddenly remembered that a few days ago, Jiufang Cangze had bitten his neck. In his semi-conscious state, he vaguely felt that he had been taken to the stone cave. And Jiufang Cangze’s clothes were not ordinary; they were conveniently damaged in a few places, which would be perfect as a medium.
To not arouse suspicion, he made pastries and washed clothes, and even feigned affection, all just to have an opportunity to tear off a piece of fabric from the damaged clothes.
Fortunately, his efforts paid off.
He patted the Tribulation Cloud’s head. “Let’s go now. But I can’t use my Spiritual Orb freely, so I might need your help.”
The Tribulation Cloud seemed to have no brains and nodded happily.
The person and the cloud sneakily left the library. Qiu Fuxue followed the Tribulation Cloud’s every step, but he always felt like a pair of eyes was watching him from behind.
He suddenly turned back, and the figure behind him hurriedly hid. They were very inexperienced at tailing someone.
The Tribulation Cloud touched him, indicating that it could take care of it if needed.
Qiu Fuxue shook his head. “No need. Just let him follow.”
The Tribulation Cloud floated all the way to a location near the Abyss of Ten Thousand Tribulations. Along the way, they occasionally encountered a few patrolling guards, but the news of the Demon Venerable’s upcoming marriage had spread far and wide. They all recognized Qiu Fuxue and didn’t dare to stop him. The Tribulation Cloud, on the other hand, shrank and hid in Qiu Fuxue’s sleeve to get past them.
Jiufang Cangze had hidden the new entrance in an inconspicuous pile of rocks next to the Abyss of Ten Thousand Tribulations. There were no guards in this area. The Tribulation Cloud suddenly transformed into a huge creature and made Qiu Fuxue climb onto its back to take him down.
Qiu Fuxue climbed on without a word, marveling, “The underground palace is really big. It’s so far from Qingming Palace, but it’s all covered.”
Hearing this, the Tribulation Cloud swayed proudly. The place where the Nine Fiends resided was naturally extraordinary.
They fell into the pitch-black cave, where they could no longer see the sky outside. But the sky was already almost dark before they came down. Qiu Fuxue estimated that Jiufang Cangze would be back soon and would discover he was missing. He had to speed up.
The Tribulation Cloud landed and lit a ghost fire to illuminate the surroundings. Qiu Fuxue immediately saw the carved stone door. It was in front of this door that he had suffered two times in a row.
Suddenly, a “clack-clack” sound came from his feet, as if rocks were falling to the ground. Qiu Fuxue frowned and looked up.
“He followed us from so far away.”
He said to the Tribulation Cloud, “You go up, knock him out, and bring him down. Don’t let him ruin this.”
With that, the Tribulation Cloud shot up. In a moment, it came back carrying an unconscious person. It contemptuously tossed the person onto the ground. It was Du Xiaoshuang.
Qiu Fuxue sighed. “This guy is really persistent.”
In every sense of the word. He always liked to be at odds with him. He had just finished his confinement and came to follow him.
He turned around and touched the blood-stained stone door. Qiu Fuxue closed his eyes, and his fingers made a connection with his spiritual energy.
“This is my blood…”
He frowned and thought for a moment. He suppressed the doubts in his heart, sat cross-legged on the ground, and asked the Tribulation Cloud to help him operate his Spiritual Orb.
Under the faint ghost fire, the Tribulation Cloud changed the shape of its mist ball. It grew limbs and turned into a strange faceless human shape, and it placed its hand on Qiu Fuxue’s back, slowly transmitting the power needed to break through the demonic energy.
The entanglement of the three forces in the Spiritual Orb was not a pleasant feeling, just like the last time the mermaid used her demonic energy to fight Jiufang Cangze, which almost took his life.
But this time, the Tribulation Cloud was here to help him. The two powers fought against the dark red demonic energy in the Spiritual Orb, driving out the foreign demonic energy little by little.
Qiu Fuxue closed his eyes, and beads of sweat the size of beans dripped down his forehead. He focused on making the withered white lotus come back to life.
Just then, a strange noise came from behind him.
Qiu Fuxue didn’t know how the Tribulation Cloud had knocked him out, but Du Xiaoshuang woke up quickly. The air currents around Qiu Fuxue surged. It was a crucial moment for his spiritual power to recover, and he had no time to deal with him.
The noise from behind him got closer and closer. Qiu Fuxue knew he couldn’t let this continue. The Tribulation Cloud’s power also could not be suddenly withdrawn, or all his efforts would be for nothing.
“Tribulation Cloud… put up a barrier.”
As soon as he finished speaking, a misty barrier suddenly enveloped them. Du Xiaoshuang saw that they were too busy to deal with him and was about to launch a sneak attack from behind, but the barrier stopped him.
Now he was even more certain that Qiu Fuxue was doing something very important.
Du Xiaoshuang furiously kicked the barrier, a sinister look flashing in his eyes.
The demonic energy left by Jiufang Cangze had permeated the entire white lotus. The Tribulation Cloud had not recovered its strength after the last battle. As time passed, its human form could no longer be sustained and began to turn transparent.
On the other side, Du Xiaoshuang tried everything to contact Jiufang Cangze and report the situation. The Tribulation Cloud wanted to stop him, but Qiu Fuxue called out to it.
“Focus on helping me. When the time comes for the Nine Fiends to break free, even if Jiufang Cangze comes, it will be useless.”
And by then, he would probably have been annihilated as well.
The Tribulation Cloud thought he made sense and, at the risk of its body and soul being annihilated, desperately helped Qiu Fuxue fight against the demonic energy.
The white lotus bloomed silently. Qiu Fuxue’s heart was filled with indescribable emotions. The Tribulation Cloud was risking everything just to free its companions, but in the end, it was all a scam.
When half of the demonic energy had receded, he could already use the power of his Spiritual Orb freely. The Tribulation Cloud behind him seemed to have exhausted its last bit of strength, shrinking into a small ball of black mist on the ground.
