- Chapter 28 - Spilling Tea and Kneeling on Broken Porcelain
This time, Jiufang Cangze seemed especially reluctant to let him go. He held him close and they slept on the bed all night. It was only the next day that he let him leave.
Staying in the side hall made his movements much more convenient, but Qiu Fuxue knew that Jiufang Cangze still suspected him. So why did he still let him move around freely?
“Venerable One,” Qiu Fuxue said in a very low voice, trying to suppress the disgust in his heart as he placed his hands over Jiufang Cangze’s. “Why don’t you let me stay here?”
Jiufang Cangze turned his hand, held his, and kissed it, leaving a few crimson marks. “You little thing. I was too lenient with you before, and it caused so many problems. How can I not throw you somewhere else to reflect?”
Qiu Fuxue pursed his lips and remained silent.
Back at the side hall, Du Xiaoshuang threw a huge tantrum when he heard that Qiu Fuxue had gone to serve the Venerable One again.
Ever since Qiu Fuxue returned, the Venerable One hadn’t touched him.
As soon as Qiu Fuxue stepped into the courtyard, he was grabbed by attendants and dragged in front of Du Xiaoshuang.
Inside the room, there was a small red clay stove with a ghost fire burning underneath. A pot of tea was bubbling with steam.
“Qiu Fuxue, go pour the tea,” Du Xiaoshuang said with a sneer, sitting arrogantly on a high seat.
Qiu Fuxue was pushed to the ground. His legs were still a bit weak after the vigorous night before.
He stared at the red clay stove in front of him for a while, remembering Jiufang Cangze’s words. This Du Xiaoshuang really had a childish personality, and he wouldn’t stoop to his level.
Without the shackles, his wrists felt empty, and he was still not used to it. He picked up the just-boiled teapot with his slender fingers and poured the light-colored tea into a white porcelain cup.
Qiu Fuxue lowered his gaze and held the teacup with both hands, offering it to Du Xiaoshuang.
However, in the next instant, he felt a sharp pain on the back of his hand. The hot tea scalded his pale skin, and the porcelain cup fell and shattered into several pieces with a crisp sound.
“Useless! Do you want to scald me to death?!”
Du Xiaoshuang deliberately knocked over the teacup. Before Qiu Fuxue could react, he quickly stood up and slapped him.
Qiu Fuxue was slapped sideways. His hand throbbed with a searing pain, and he covered his red and swollen cheek.
Seeing that he didn’t fight back, a cruel thought arose in Du Xiaoshuang’s heart.
He kicked the white porcelain shards in front of him and turned to his attendants. “Make him kneel on them!”
The attendants didn’t dare to disobey. After all, Du Xiaoshuang’s temper had always been like this, and Jiufang Cangze was happy to indulge him.
“Ah—!”
The sharp porcelain shards pierced his flesh, directly hitting his kneecap, leaving a pool of fresh red on the ground.
Qiu Fuxue’s body was drenched in cold sweat from the pain, but his arms were twisted behind his back, leaving him unable to move.
Du Xiaoshuang took advantage of the situation and slapped him again. Seeing the blood ooze from the corner of the other’s mouth, he finally left, satisfied.
“Watch him. Let him kneel until evening before you let him go back.”
The sky darkened. Qiu Fuxue leaned on the cold wall, trembling as he returned to his dusty little room.
As soon as he entered, he collapsed to the ground. His hands were covered in blood, and they shook as he pulled out the porcelain shards stuck in his knees.
He didn’t even have time to clean the wounds. He anxiously tore off a piece of cloth from his clothes to bandage them, because the pain was so unbearable. Every moment was agony.
As it got completely dark, he rested on the ground for a while, then got up and limped out.
He needed to do something else to distract himself from the pain, like pretending to wander around the library.
Last time, he had accidentally fallen into the stone cave from the library. Jiufang Cangze had found him and tortured him. This time, Qiu Fuxue was more cautious and behaved much more carefully.
For the next few days, he went to the library to read ancient books from the human world. There were many rare books he had never seen before. Sometimes, he would get so engrossed in them that he would almost forget he was only there to put on a show.
After finishing the last page of a certain book, Qiu Fuxue closed the cover and sighed deeply.
If he had the chance, he would definitely ask Jiufang Cangze about the origins of these books.
As if his thoughts were being heard, that very night, just as he was starting to feel sleepy, Jiufang Cangze burst into the room with a cold wind.
From the sharp crimson eyes, Qiu Fuxue could tell that the other person was in a bad mood. And the usually neat black clothes had a few tears, so he must have just finished a fight.
“Venerable One.” Qiu Fuxue subconsciously swallowed and shrunk back into the corner of the bed.
Jiufang Cangze walked to him, put his hands on either side of him, and frowned deeply. “Are you scared?”
He was about to shake his head, but after a moment of hesitation, he nodded and admitted, “Yes…”
Jiufang Cangze gave a helpless laugh and raised his hand to light the ghost fire on the table. The room instantly brightened.
He held the back of the other’s head and bit his long, delicate neck.
“Mmph… Venerable One…”
A wave of pain rushed in. The smell of blood filled his nose. Qiu Fuxue’s fingers weakly gripped the other’s muscular arm. He tilted his head back, not daring to move.
After a long time, he began to feel dizzy, as if his blood was about to run dry. Jiufang Cangze finally let him go.
The sharp, thin lips were stained with blood. In a daze, Qiu Fuxue saw Jiufang Cangze stick out his tongue and lightly lick the corner of his mouth, adding a touch of sinister charm to his already handsome and demonic face.
He was a heartless demon to begin with. It was only after wearing a human skin for a long time that his cruel nature was concealed.
Jiufang Cangze wiped the blood from his lips, then picked up the fainted person and flashed to the stone cave where the Moon Shadow Wall was sealed.
The malevolent shadows were already waiting there.
He placed the person who had fainted from blood loss on the ground, then walked to the large stone door and muttered a spell.
Lunling stood to the side, and his gaze swept over the pool of crimson on the ground. A hint of emotion flashed in his eyes.
But it was only for a moment. The other malevolent shadows didn’t notice his abnormality.
A strong gust of wind suddenly appeared from the ground. Jiufang Cangze hurriedly retracted the palm he had placed on the stone door, looking exasperated. “It’s useless!”
“Venerable One, please calm your anger!” The malevolent shadows all knelt behind him.
“Venerable One, the Tribulation Cloud was injured by you and couldn’t have escaped far. Why don’t I lead a team to capture it?” Lunling suggested.
“No need,” Jiufang Cangze said with a frown, his gaze fixed on the stone door with a vicious look.
He didn’t look away, raising his hand to grab the person on the ground from a distance. He drew a few drops of fresh blood and flicked them onto the stone door.
“With the Pure Spirit Body in my hands, I just have to wait for the Tribulation Cloud to walk into the trap itself.”
When Qiu Fuxue woke up, he found himself lying on Jiufang Cangze’s bed. The wound on his neck had been treated, and when he looked down, he was completely naked.
Jiufang Cangze was lying beside him, his hand stroking his chest, pinching his nipples from time to time.
“You’re awake?”
Qiu Fuxue nodded blankly. There was no strange sensation in his lower body, so nothing must have happened.
Jiufang Cangze poked his dazed head, then flipped over and pressed him down, kissing his lips deeply.
“Since you’re awake, come and serve me.”
