- Chapter 26 - Beloved Pet Meets Jealousy
Upon hearing this, Jiufang Cangze’s lips curled into a satisfied smile.
Du Xiaoshuang knew how to please him and cater to his desires. He was also a lot more interesting to play with than the cold and distant Qiu Fuxue.
Qiu Fuxue knelt below, taking in every word Du Xiaoshuang said. He raised his head, his tone sincere. “Venerable One, please give me one more chance.”
Jiufang Cangze’s hand lightly tapped on Du Xiaoshuang’s slender waist as he held him. He said in a deep voice, “Qiu Fuxue, this isn’t like you… What? Did you go through so much trouble to come back to me because you haven’t accomplished some goal yet?”
Some people were just not born to act, and Qiu Fuxue was one of them. He clenched his fingers, and a cold sweat broke out on his forehead, though it was unnoticeable since he was already soaked.
“Venerable One, I… my Spiritual Orb has been destroyed. I don’t want to suffer anymore… I just want to find a place for myself to belong. I still have some use staying by your side.”
Jiufang Cangze watched him with interest, not interrupting, just wanting to hear what other lies he could come up with.
Time passed by, second by second. Qiu Fuxue racked his brain but couldn’t come up with another word. He bent down, wishing he could bury his head in the ground.
The hall fell into a deadly silence. Just as he thought his plan had failed before it even began, Jiufang Cangze finally spoke.
“Fine, I’ll allow you to stay. For now, live with Xiaoshuang.”
With that, he let go of Du Xiaoshuang and slowly walked to Qiu Fuxue. He used the tip of his shoe to lift the other’s chin, a wicked smile on his face. “Qiu Fuxue, I want to see what other tricks you have up your sleeve.”
Lowering his eyes to hide his guilt, Qiu Fuxue softly refuted, “Venerable One, I have no tricks…”
However, Jiufang Cangze didn’t really want an answer. He just tapped the pale cheek with the tip of his shoe, then turned around and strode out of the hall.
After Jiufang Cangze left, Qiu Fuxue slumped to the ground. The knot of tension in his heart finally loosened.
Du Xiaoshuang came to him, a brilliant smile on his face that made him feel uneasy.
Unlike Qiu Fuxue’s gentle and graceful looks, Du Xiaoshuang had delicate features, and his apricot eyes shone brightly as if holding a sky full of stars.
Perhaps Jiufang Cangze was tired of looking at Qiu Fuxue’s listless eyes. The first time he saw Du Xiaoshuang, he decided to bring him back.
Du Xiaoshuang looked at the shackles on Qiu Fuxue’s wrists, then tugged at them a few times, making Qiu Fuxue’s body sway.
“Immortal Master Fuxue, if you please.”
Du Xiaoshuang found a cold and gloomy side room for him to live in. The room was a bit small; after placing a bed, there was only just enough space for a small wooden table.
There was dust on the bed. Qiu Fuxue reached out and patted it. The dust that rose in the air made him cough.
As he was tidying up, there was a sudden noise at the door. It was late, and he wondered who would be visiting at this time. Qiu Fuxue turned to open the door, but before he could see who it was, he was pulled into a hug.
A strong smell of alcohol wafted up to his nose, making him frown. The next second, his chin was gripped by a calloused hand, and a forceful kiss was pressed upon his lips.
“Mmph…”
Qiu Fuxue couldn’t breathe and let out a soft protest. Jiufang Cangze held his waist and bit his thin lips a few times.
Then, a dark red light flashed, and they disappeared from where they stood.
When his lips were finally free, familiar curtains appeared before his eyes. Qiu Fuxue gripped the soft bed beneath him. It was indeed Jiufang Cangze’s sleeping quarters.
Jiufang Cangze had drunk a lot of wine tonight, and his handsome face was slightly flushed.
He held Qiu Fuxue’s head between his hands on either side, casting a shadow over him. He chuckled softly, “Little fellow, we haven’t seen each other in so long. Have you missed me?”
He had just seen him this morning.
Qiu Fuxue couldn’t stand the smell of alcohol on him and turned his head away. After an internal struggle, he gritted his teeth and grumbled, “…I missed you.”
He said it with such gritted teeth, it was a lie, but Jiufang Cangze was in a good mood and didn’t expose him.
The last piece of clothing covering his body was torn off. His skin, now exposed to the cool air, was covered in goosebumps. Jiufang Cangze waved his hand, and the dirty person was instantly cleaned and refreshed.
Tiny kisses fell on the beauty mark at the corner of his eye. Qiu Fuxue resisted the repulsion in his heart and actively clung to the other person.
“You’re getting more and more interesting.” The hot, boozy scent was sprayed onto his pale earlobe, and Jiufang Cangze sighed in satisfaction.
The intensity didn’t stop. Tears welled up in Qiu Fuxue’s eyes, and he couldn’t help but cry out.
When the night was over, Qiu Fuxue was a mess. He was thrown back to his room without being cleaned.
The next morning, the news of “Immortal Master Fuxue’s return to favor” spread throughout Qingming Palace.
The protagonist of the rumor woke up from his unconscious state in a disheveled mess. Before he could even sort out the chaotic thoughts in his head, Du Xiaoshuang burst in with a few attendants, looking furious.
“Qiu Fuxue, you’ve got some nerve!”
With a “splat,” a basin of cold water was thrown onto the bed. Qiu Fuxue and the dusty bed were soaked.
He wiped his face. In front of him was Du Xiaoshuang’s angry face. “…When did I offend you?”
Although he was used to being submissive, he wasn’t completely without a temper.
Du Xiaoshuang snorted coldly. “The moment you, Immortal Master Fuxue, returned, you captivated the Venerable One’s soul. When did you offend me, you ask?”
Qiu Fuxue’s original clothes had been torn to shreds, and he was only wearing a clean undergarment, probably a kindness from Jiufang Cangze.
His clothes were now soaked, and the dark bruises from fingerprints and other shameful marks on his waist were faintly visible.
Recalling the absurdity of the previous night, Qiu Fuxue knew why Du Xiaoshuang was here.
He immediately found it ridiculous. “I’m not interested in competing with you for this kind of thing. If you like him, you can have him.”
Du Xiaoshuang was enraged by his nonchalant attitude. He shouted obscenities, “I can’t believe you, a dignified Immortal Master, have two faces! You weren’t this nonchalant when you were crying out in the Venerable One’s sleeping quarters last night!”
He thought Qiu Fuxue would at least be ashamed, but he showed no reaction at all. He just silently wrung the water out of his clothes and got up from the bed. “I had no choice.”
The attendants Du Xiaoshuang brought to back him up looked at each other, not knowing what to do next.
Du Xiaoshuang, exasperated, kicked the attendant next to him. “What are you standing around for? Do something! I’ll take the blame if the Venerable One gets angry!”
With the order given, the attendants reluctantly rolled up their sleeves and approached Qiu Fuxue. Seeing the situation was bad, the latter warily moved toward the door. “What do you want?”
The leading attendant smirked. “Just to make you suffer a little.”
Qiu Fuxue slowly retreated outside, but the entire side hall was Du Xiaoshuang’s territory, and there were guards outside, so he had nowhere to run.
Just then, a figure dropped from the roof, blocking the space between him and the attendants.
Lunling stretched, put his hands on his hips, and asked with a grin, “What kind of suffering? Let me have a taste.”
