- Chapter 15 - Secret Conversation Breaks the Illusion
Jiufang Cangze looked up at him, a flicker of ruthlessness in his crimson eyes. “What do you mean by that?”
Qiu Fuxue coughed a few times. The sharp fragments of Fenyu were embedded in his flesh and joints, and with every tremor, a few drops of fresh blood were squeezed out.
He spoke haltingly, “Cough, cough… When I fought you before, I thought your cultivation was profound… but your magical power was sometimes strong and sometimes weak…”
“You keep threatening to harm the Qiannian Sect, but you don’t even have the ability to break out of the barrier… Jiufang Cangze, although I don’t know why, your power is being suppressed a lot…”
“You wanted to trick me… to make me think I was dead, and then take my spiritual body to be a vessel for your cultivation…”
After saying so much in one breath, Qiu Fuxue wearily leaned against the Butterfly Feather’s skeleton, coughing hoarsely, which brought up more blood.
The last time he fought with Jiufang Cangze was a year ago. Even then, he felt that the demon lord was struggling. In the days that followed, he never heard of him clashing with any of the immortal sects. At most, it was his Evil Shadows causing trouble.
And when he helped Elder Dong Ze escape, Jiufang Cangze had many opportunities to stop him, but he only continued to fight with the Tribulation Cloud.
This led to a bold guess. Spiritual energy and demonic energy balanced each other. For some unknown reason, Jiufang Cangze was completely suppressed by spiritual energy. The fact that he went to such great lengths to keep him by his side meant that the Pure Spiritual Body was a key to breaking his predicament.
“Heh… Qiu Fuxue, you’ve certainly grown a brain since before, but…”
A low, cold laugh echoed in the air. A surge of bloodlust roiled in Jiufang Cangze’s eyes. Like a poisonous snake staring at its prey, he fixated on Qiu Fuxue’s eyes and said in a low voice beside his ear, “But it’s useless. After I go and slaughter the Nine Evils one by one, it won’t be too late to wipe out your Qiannian Sect.”
The hallucination of impending death dissipated. Qiu Fuxue closed his eyes and took a breath. When he opened them again, the ethereal feeling in his consciousness was gone.
The pain in his body remained, and he was still pinned to the skeleton by Fenyu. However, the fresh blood that had been all over the floor was nowhere to be seen.
Jiufang Cangze patted his face. “Little one, you’re a spiritual body. These injuries won’t kill you. But I’m very curious, how did you know that was a hallucination?”
He hated it when Jiufang Cangze touched his face, but he couldn’t resist. “Joy Parasite lost its effect without your knowledge. You feared that I would do something extreme when I woke up one day, so you decided it would be better to end it all… You want to control me…”
Jiufang Cangze scoffed. “Little one, you’ve become quite interesting.”
He unbuttoned his black clothes, throwing them on the ground one by one until he revealed his muscular body covered in demonic tattoos. A deep, bone-revealing scratch was prominently on his back, extending from the back of his neck down to his waist.
Qiu Fuxue’s pupils trembled. “Was that… from the Tribulation Cloud…?”
“Exactly,” Jiufang Cangze said indifferently, as if he weren’t the one who was injured. “If you hadn’t distracted me, that guy wouldn’t have gotten away.”
Then, he turned Qiu Fuxue’s chin and brought him closer, roughly kissing him.
Demonic energy entered the spiritual body, circled the spiritual orb that had turned a dark ink color, and then returned the way it came. This was repeated.
This method was the most effective for Jiufang Cangze, but it was the most painful for Qiu Fuxue. Tears filled the corners of his eyes. His whimpers were all swallowed by the kiss.
He had forcibly summoned Fenyu, and his spiritual orb had already developed a crack. Now, with the invasion of demonic energy, it was undoubtedly adding insult to injury to his sensitive and fragile spiritual body.
The tormenting kiss finally ended. The wound on Jiufang Cangze’s back healed. He felt for the joints on Qiu Fuxue and pulled out the fragments of Fenyu.
The blood-stained person lost his support and fell to the ground. There wasn’t much blood from the wounds, which had apparently been treated with magic beforehand.
Qiu Fuxue felt a warm body lift him. He then heard a “clink” sound, accompanied by a coolness on his wrists.
…Such a familiar feeling.
He helplessly opened his eyes. Sure enough, it was that pair of golden shackles again.
Jiufang Cangze proudly played with his slender hands, occasionally kissing them. He finally sighed, feigning difficulty. “Since you, little one, like the Joy Parasite, I’ll have to help you out.”
Qiu Fuxue: “…When did I ever say that?”
He just didn’t want his Pure Spiritual Body to fall into enemy hands and become an accomplice to this demon lord!
But Jiufang Cangze clearly had no intention of genuinely understanding what he meant. He raised an eyebrow. “Then you like me?”
“…You have no shame!”
Whether he truly liked him or not, that night Qiu Fuxue couldn’t escape the fate of being taken back to the sleeping chamber.
Due to his severe internal injuries, Jiufang Cangze didn’t want to kill him too early, so he didn’t give him the Joy Parasite. He even summoned a few demon doctors to treat his wounds.
Qiu Fuxue lay on the bed like a lamb to be slaughtered, his back exposed, covered in bruises. The most obvious one was the palm print left by Elder Dong Ze.
The doctor said that his spine was broken and all his joints were damaged, so he might have trouble moving for the next few days.
Qiu Fuxue lowered his eyes in disappointment. After reaching a certain level of cultivation, not to mention a broken spine, there was a possibility of recovery even if his heart was gouged out. But Elder Dong Ze had treated him as a traitor who had fallen to the demons, and that was what hurt him the most.
He wondered what his master would think when he found out about this…
The young-looking doctor chattered on and on. Jiufang Cangze lost his patience and interrupted him. “Since his life is not in danger, when will his spiritual orb return to normal?”
That kiss today, although it helped heal the wounds, was a very long process. After absorbing so much demonic energy, the power of his spiritual orb was far less than the first time.
The doctor hesitated for a long time and couldn’t give a clear answer. It was his first time seeing a Pure Spiritual Body as well.
Upon hearing this, Qiu Fuxue finally felt relieved. The peak of the scarlet moon had passed, and he was severely injured. At least, before the next scarlet moon arrived, it was impossible for Jiufang Cangze to cause any harm to the Qiannian Sect.
He was still smugly smiling to himself, unaware that the doctors had all left and only he and Jiufang Cangze remained in the sleeping chamber.
“So happy? Do you really think I have no way to deal with you?”
His beautiful face was held in a hand, and a purple bruise appeared on his gaunt cheek.
“Hiss—!” Qiu Fuxue sucked in a sharp breath in pain but was unable to move due to his severe injuries.
“Do me a favor,” Jiufang Cangze said, pulling him up mercilessly and leaning him against his shoulder, not at all like someone asking for a favor.
Enduring the pain of his broken spine, Qiu Fuxue frowned and let out a soft moan.
The calloused fingers then rubbed the beauty mark until it was red again. “It would be a pity for such a beautiful face not to do something for me.”
An ominous feeling crossed his mind. Qiu Fuxue turned his head to look at him. “What do you want to do?”
“The Rakshasa General has returned victorious from his campaign. It’s time for you to be of some use.”
