After Getting Pregnant, I’m Divorcing My Alpha - Chapter 2
When An Xiangdi walked back into the photography area, the staff on-site collectively gasped. Even though many of them had worked with him before, they were struck by his stunning appearance every single time.
The rabbit-gray sweater he had been wearing earlier was now replaced by a pure white top with asymmetrical sleeves. The right side was sleeveless, revealing his lean forearm, and his fair skin was the envy of everyone.
The slightly oversized white pants hung loosely around his hips, looking a bit too wide at first glance. But upon closer inspection, a thin white strap on the left side of the waistband connected to the inside of his top. This half-concealed, half-revealed look made everyone cover their noses, feeling both flustered and embarrassed.
“So handsome, I’m dead.”
“If he released even a hint of his pheromones, I’d probably drop dead on the spot.”
“What a pity, we Betas can’t smell anything.”
“Even if I were an Omega, I wouldn’t be able to smell it either. What’s the point of having this gender?”
“Don’t even think about it. There’s no way we’d ever get to smell his pheromones.”
An Xiangdi was long accustomed to such scrutinizing gazes and didn’t find them rude. He knew he was good-looking and had always taken pride in the face bestowed upon him by nature.
Since the new photographer they had agreed upon hadn’t arrived yet, An Xiangdi stood to the side with his arms crossed, watching the crew put the finishing touches on the set.
“Over there.” An Xiangdi noticed something and raised his hand, unhesitatingly voicing his opinion. “Remove some of the flowers in that area.”
“Huh?” The staff member was taken aback, staring blankly at the white rose wall behind the throne.
Seeing that no one understood his intention, An Xiangdi walked over directly. “Take all of these out.”
Before the words had fully left his mouth, his hand was already reaching for the roses.
Soon, the once neatly arranged rose wall was half dismantled, with large white rose petals scattered on the floor and a few stubbornly clinging to the now incomplete rose stems.
The surrounding staff gaped in disbelief. Although An Xiangdi had done similar things on set before, witnessing it again still felt overly casual and unreasonable.
A staff member standing in the corner let out an involuntary “ah,” but quickly swallowed the sound back down.
Director Ning had seen An Xiangdi make arbitrary changes to the set many times before. Even if he didn’t always agree with his methods, the results were always refreshing, and the final effect was undeniably impressive. “Good, let’s go with this change!”
Confident in his idea and with the director’s approval, An Xiangdi took two wet wipes to clean his hands and then instructed the crew to dismantle the other side of the rose wall, leaving it half-destroyed.
An intern witnessing this for the first time felt their “handsome guy” filter shatter. They tugged at a senior staff member and whispered, “Is he always like this?”
“Like what?”
“Just so unapologetic.” The intern struggled to find the right words.
“Shh! Don’t say anything.” The senior quickly made a silencing gesture.
The intern, unsure what was happening, didn’t dare ask further.
An Xiangdi heard every word clearly but pressed his lips together and said nothing.
Not long after, the new photographer finally arrived, sporting a head of wild golden hair. Taking in the chaotic state of the rose wall, he froze for a moment before yelling in English, “What the hell are you all doing?!”
Because the photographer was an Alpha, when his temper flared, he didn’t restrain his pheromones. Soon, someone in the shooting area couldn’t withstand the pressure and collapsed.
An Xiangdi frowned unhappily. “Are we shooting or not? If not, get lost.”
The blond photographer froze at the sight of him. The translator, adept at reading the room, only translated the first half of the sentence.
Everyone expected trouble to break out, but instead, An Xiangdi immediately got into shooting mode. The Alpha unconsciously reined in his pheromones, and the affected staff members sighed in relief as if saved.
An Xiangdi picked up a golden, gem-encrusted crown from the side and lazily took a seat on the throne. He tilted the crown slightly on his head, propped his cheek with one hand, and his expression shifted instantly.
He was like a king looking down on everything from on high. Though he released no pheromones, he exuded an invisible pressure that made others want to submit.
Paired with the messy white rose wall behind him and the scattered rose petals on the floor, the scene created an absurd beauty wrapped in wealth, yet it also held an untarnished purity. These two discordant feelings miraculously merged together.
The blond photographer’s anger vanished completely. Flustered, he raised his camera and began shooting excitedly.
Throughout the session, An Xiangdi changed poses several times. Apart from the clicking of the camera, the shooting area was eerily quiet.
The intern who had doubted An Xiangdi earlier couldn’t tear her eyes away from him. Even half an hour later, when the shoot was over, she still hadn’t snapped out of it.
After changing back into his clothes in the dressing room, An Xiangdi slipped on the black coat he had arrived in.
Director Ning, seeing him come out, wanted to ask if he’d like to review the shots but hesitated, afraid he might be dissatisfied and cause another round of trouble.
“May I take a look?” Spotting the computer screen from a distance, An Xiangdi proactively walked over.
“Of course.” Director Ning smiled and stepped aside to let him view the footage, feeling an inexplicable nervousness, as if being inspected by a superior.
“It’s quite good. Thank you, Director Ning. Everyone has worked hard.” An Xiangdi was satisfied after reviewing the shots and politely expressed his gratitude.
Director Ning exchanged a few more pleasantries with him before seeing him off.
On the way to his next work commitment, An Xiangdi busied himself reviewing the dance for his new song’s MV. Worried that Shen Xiao might try to persuade him again, he didn’t ask Xiao Gu for his phone.
The lyrics for this new song were written by An Xiangdi himself. His agency had been reluctant to spend much on it and initially planned to rush through the production. Unhappy with this, An Xiangdi ended up paying out of his own pocket to hire a renowned filming team from Japan. The team had high standards for MV quality, which in turn meant higher demands on the artist’s dance skills and expressiveness.
The MV shooting location was set at an abandoned amusement park in Zongming City, a spot An Xiangdi had personally chosen.
Stepping out of the car, An Xiangdi looked up at the gloomy sky it seemed like rain was imminent.
Xiao Gu followed behind, carrying a bag. “Mr. An, let me find you a place to rest.”
“Mm.” An Xiangdi nodded. In the distance, he could already see the filming team, with half-assembled equipment piled on the ground.
The team’s coordinator rushed over to An Xiangdi. “Mr. An, I’m really sorry, but the weather isn’t great. Would you consider rescheduling the shoot for another day?”
An Xiangdi pursed his lips and, after a moment, said, “I’ll go talk to them.”
The liaison was taken aback, and before she could fully process it, An Xiangdi had already stepped past her and made his way to the center of the team. He began conversing with the director in fluent Sakura language.
The translator standing nearby was stunned. Hearing An Xiangdi speak Sakura more fluently than she did, she momentarily questioned her life choices, wondering what she was even there for.
An Xiangdi shared the ideas he had thought of on the way over with the director. After refining the concepts and discarding the weaker ones, they decided to incorporate two of his ideas into the MV and remove one of the less impressive elements from the original concept.
Soon, the crew had everything prepared, and An Xiangdi’s makeup and styling were finalized.
Just past five o’clock, the shoot officially began. Though the sky was pitch black, the filming proceeded relatively smoothly.
An Xiangdi couldn’t shake off the memory of the phone call with Shen Xiao, and his state of mind wasn’t at its best. Still, he only needed one retake across three consecutive scenes, which was passable.
However, during the dance for the final scene, as the intense electronic music blasted from the speakers, a bolt of lightning tore through the dark sky, followed by a deafening clap of thunder. Rain poured down in torrents.
Everyone was caught off guard, but An Xiangdi continued performing his dance in the downpour. The sudden rain became an outlet for the unease simmering inside him.
Raindrops splashed on the ground, only to be swept aside by the sleeves of his dance movements. His soft hair was drenched, clinging together in clumps, and the small space around him seemed like a world of its own.
Once the director regained his composure, he captured the entire sequence against the backdrop of roaring thunder and heavy rain.
Xiao Gu’s heart raced with worry, his only concern being whether An Xiangdi would catch a cold. He was so preoccupied that he didn’t even notice when someone appeared beside him.
“How much longer until it’s finished?”
Startled by the deep voice, Xiao Gu turned to find a man in a dark blue suit standing next to him.
Intimidated by the man’s overwhelming presence, Xiao Gu swallowed nervously before stammering, “M-Mr. Shen, this is the last the final scene.”
This was only the second time he had seen Shen Xiao since starting his job with An Xiangdi.
Shen Xiao remained silent, his dark eyes fixed on An Xiangdi dancing in the rain, his thoughts unreadable.
Five long minutes passed, and as the rain began to ease, the filming of An Xiangdi’s final MV scene drew to a close.
As the music faded, An Xiangdi completed the final movement of the dance and came to a stop, breathing slightly heavily.
He couldn’t help but think about how Shen Xiao had not only stood him up earlier but also said things he didn’t want to hear over the phone. The memory of the black overcoat only added to his frustration, leaving him simmering with unresolved anger.
The filming crew, too busy to pay attention to An Xiangdi still standing in the rain, hurriedly moved the equipment under the shelter. Fortunately, they had prepared for rain in advance, so none of the expensive gear was damaged.
Once under the shelter, the crew noticed the Alpha who had suddenly appeared. They had been so captivated by An Xiangdi’s performance earlier that they hadn’t registered his presence. Now, as they came to their senses, some immediately sensed the overwhelming power of this Alpha’s pheromones and instinctively took a few steps back, trying to put distance between themselves and him.
Shen Xiao opened his umbrella and walked straight to An Xiangdi, who was still in a daze.
An Xiangdi only had time to notice the man’s black leather shoes splattered with raindrops before the next moment, he was pulled into Shen Xiao’s embrace. The familiar scent of brandy pheromones enveloped him, and his moist lips were captured by the other’s not so gentle bite.
