After Getting Pregnant, I’m Divorcing My Alpha - Chapter 18
An Xiangdi’s mind was completely occupied by the word “morning sickness.” During the meal, he barely touched his chopsticks, having no appetite and even feeling nauseous at the sight of the golden fried egg.
“What’s wrong?” Shen Xiao noticed something was off. “Did yesterday’s fried noodles upset your stomach?”
“No, I’m just too tired, not hungry.” An Xiangdi’s hair was disheveled, and his eyes were heavy with sleep, making him look genuinely drowsy.
Shen Xiao reached out and wiped a grain of rice from the corner of his mouth. “Then go back to sleep for a while. I’ll wait until you’re asleep before I leave.”
“Mm.” Shen Xiao had returned from abroad unexpectedly yesterday, and contrary to what Cheng Youyi had said, his work wasn’t entirely sorted out. Hua Jiang had already called several times about it.
An Xiangdi guessed that Hua Jiang must have been cursing him up and down in his mind.
Back in bed, An Xiangdi had initially been thinking about how to fake sleep, but to his surprise, he drifted off within moments.
He was awakened by a call from Dr. Qiao, who urgently asked why he hadn’t arrived yet.
An Xiangdi checked the time and realized it was already 4 p.m.
Driving himself to the Omega Rehabilitation Center, An Xiangdi pulled his hat low and took the elevator to Dr. Qiao’s office.
The moment Dr. Qiao saw him, he froze, then leaned in with an expression of disbelief.
An Xiangdi instinctively stepped back, uncomfortable with the Alpha’s proximity. “Dr. Qiao?”
“Ah… sorry.” Dr. Qiao sniffed carefully, noticing that the scent he had detected earlier seemed to have vanished. “Let’s do this: first, go get a blood test, then an ultrasound.”
“Okay.” An Xiangdi was extremely nervous inside.
The person performing the ultrasound for An Xiangdi was an Omega, not very tall but with surprisingly strong hands.
“Don’t be nervous.” The Omega doctor was skilled, moving the device over his abdomen and finally stopping near the reproductive cavity.
Shortly after, An Xiangdi heard the doctor say lightly, “Congratulations, you’re pregnant. However, your reproductive cavity… isn’t fully developed. The chances of pregnancy were already slim, so this is truly a rare occurrence. You must take extra care during your pregnancy.”
An Xiangdi turned his head in surprise, trying to see the image on the screen, but his angle made it difficult to see clearly.
Dazedly straightening his clothes, An Xiangdi returned to Dr. Qiao’s consultation room and sat down, clutching his phone tightly, unsure whether he should tell Shen Xiao about this.
When Dr. Qiao walked in with the report, his beaming expression confirmed An Xiangdi’s pregnancy.
“Two pieces of good news. Which one do you want to hear first?” Dr. Qiao was so excited that the blood test report in his hand trembled.
“They’re both good news,” An Xiangdi reminded him.
Dr. Qiao snapped back to reality, repeatedly saying, “Yes, yes, I almost forgot they’re both good news. First, congratulations on your pregnancy. I believe you already found out during the ultrasound.”
“Mm.”
“The other good news is that your pheromones are returning to normal levels.”
“What does that mean?” An Xiangdi was stunned.
“It means that, for a period of time, your pheromones will be released intermittently and irregularly. Other Alphas and Omegas will be able to detect your pheromones, and you will gradually be able to perceive others’ pheromones as well,” Dr. Qiao explained. “Simply put, you’ll soon return to being a normal Omega.”
“How long is ‘not long from now’ exactly?” The fact that he was already pregnant had him on edge, and now, learning that he might soon be able to detect others’ pheromones only deepened An Xiangdi’s anxiety about the unknown.
“Uncertain, but when you arrived earlier, I thought I caught a faint trace of your pheromones a subtle sweetness.” Dr. Qiao paused to recall. “But I couldn’t pinpoint it. I think it’s best to ask your Alpha about this.”
An Xiangdi remained silent. Shen Xiao always called him “sweet,” making him sound like a sugary drink.
“Lately, I’ve been working on a report regarding your abnormal pheromone levels. Of course, out of respect for your privacy, I won’t include any personal details just an analysis of the unusual symptoms you’ve exhibited. If you’re uncomfortable with it, I can reference other cases instead.”
“There are other cases?” An Xiangdi felt a flicker of camaraderie at the thought.
“There was one a few days ago, but preliminary analysis suggests it was psychologically induced, which is quite different from your situation.” Dr. Qiao believed psychological cases were far easier to manage than innate abnormalities like An Xiangdi’s. Otherwise, after all these years, he wouldn’t still be suggesting the same solution: having the individual stay with a highly compatible Alpha.
“I see” An Xiangdi knew his case was unique. “Thank you for your help.”
“Regarding the pregnancy, you and your Alpha must be extremely cautious. I’ve mentioned before that your chances of conceiving were slim due to irregular pheromones and underdeveloped reproductive organs.” Dr. Qiao offered a final reminder as An Xiangdi prepared to leave. “But now that you are pregnant, abortion is absolutely not an option the risk of infertility afterward would be too high.”
“I’ll be careful.” An Xiangdi agreed verbally but hadn’t yet decided whether to tell Shen Xiao.
Back in his car, An Xiangdi gazed at the sunset-reddened sky when a soft “ding” sounded in his ear.
Checking his phone, he saw a message from Shen Xiao.
Xiao Xiao: I’ve arrived at the hotel.

Xiao Xiao: I’ll be busy for a week before returning.
Leaning on the steering wheel, An Xiangdi pondered for a moment before replying, “Got it.” He had decided to keep it from Shen Xiao for now.
Otherwise, Shen Xiao might insist on taking him back to their hometown to settle down, abandoning work entirely a life An Xiangdi had never imagined and one he couldn’t afford, with so many goals yet unfulfilled in the entertainment industry.
Once home, An Xiangdi asked Wei Yi for help, blurring out unrelated individuals in the video involving Qiu Cheng before sending it to the head of the Film and Television Association.
Top Alpha: Never realized before, but you’re quite the sly one.
Top Alpha: [thumbs up.jpg]
Flute: I prefer to call it clever.
Top Alpha: Sure, sure, clever!
Flute: Logging off.
Top Alpha: Huh? Done chatting?
An Xiangdi didn’t reply, simply tossing his phone aside.
Though a novice expectant father with little knowledge, he understood the basics: radiation was harmful during pregnancy, as was staying up late. Maintaining a regular schedule and moderate exercise were essential.
For now, An Xiangdi resolved to minimize his use of electronic devices and steer clear of radiation as much as possible.
However, An Xiangdi had thought too simply. Before dawn the next day, he was woken by a wave of nausea and rushed to the sink, dry heaving again.
When he opened the refrigerator, he hadn’t prepared any food yet, but just the smell made him feel sick again.
His morning sickness was severe he couldn’t eat or tolerate smells, only managing to drink some bland, plain congee.
Since his new song was set to release on Sunday, An Xiangdi bundled himself up tightly on Saturday afternoon and had Xiao Gu drive him to the company.
As soon as he entered the company, An Xiangdi sensed something was off. Everyone’s eyes were on him, but they quickly averted their gaze, not daring to meet his eyes.
An Xiangdi recalled what Dr. Qiao had told him and grew increasingly anxious, wondering if his scent had been detected.
Just then, Xiao Gu said, “Teacher An, there’s something I’m not sure if I should tell you.”
“You’ve already started,” An Xiangdi glanced at him and stepped into the elevator first.
“I heard that Brother Li is resigning. Apparently, he’s going back to his hometown to get married and have kids.” Xiao Gu couldn’t hold back a laugh as he said the latter part. “I think that reason is just too far-fetched.”
An Xiangdi remembered what Shen Xiao had said to Li Guan and the others in the hallway a few days ago. If Li Guan really resigned, it would be a good thing, though he wasn’t sure who would take over as his manager.
With a “ding,” the elevator doors slowly opened, and An Xiangdi, lost in thought, came face to face with Li Guan, who was carrying a cardboard box.
Li Guan opened his mouth as if to speak but then turned and rushed into the stairwell, disappearing completely into the darkness.
“He really went back to his hometown to get married and have kids?” Xiao Gu said foolishly.
An Xiangdi couldn’t help but laugh. “Do you want to go back to your hometown to get married and have kids too?”
“No, no, no! I’m still so young!” Xiao Gu rubbed the back of his head, his entire face turning red.
Pushing open the door to the song production room, An Xiangdi found it packed with people. Among them were familiar faces the music teacher and a few staff from the promotions department as well as several strangers.
“He’s here, he’s here.” The music teacher in charge of An Xiangdi’s song production stood up.
“Good afternoon.” As soon as An Xiangdi finished greeting them, a man about his height stood in front of him.
The man wore black-rimmed glasses and had delicate features, looking like a college student who hadn’t yet graduated. But his deep, rough voice left a strong impression: “An Xiangdi, I’m Yao Honglang, a Beta, and I’ll be your manager from now on. Pleased to meet you.”
An Xiangdi’s hand twitched at his side. He had heard of Yao Honglang he was the top agent at Yisheng Entertainment, managing artists of superstar caliber.
Why was Yisheng Entertainment’s Yao Honglang here?
As if sensing An Xiangdi’s confusion, the lawyer standing next to Yao Honglang unfolded a document. “Mr. An Xiangdi, the shareholders of Royal Films have changed from the original three Zhao Qiangjun and others to Yisheng Entertainment Co., Ltd. Royal Films has also been officially renamed Yisheng Entertainment Yinsheng Co., Ltd. In short, starting today, all contracts for artists signed with Royal Films have been automatically transferred to Yisheng Entertainment.”
“I was assigned by the chairman to take charge of you,” Yao Honglang raised his hand. “Shall we work well together?”
An Xiangdi felt somewhat dazed. Zhao Qiangjun should be Zhao Zeyun’s father, and Yisheng Entertainment was clearly one of the top domestic talent agencies. Acquiring Royal Films, which had a market value of only one billion, seemed like more trouble than it was worth.
And why was he being told about the current shareholder structure of Royal Films?
“An Xiangdi, aren’t you going to shake hands?” Yao Honglang glanced at his own hand, which had been extended for quite some time.
An Xiangdi snapped back to reality. “Pleasure working with you.”
Cheng Youyi, who had appeared outside the door at some point, sported a shock of unruly red hair. While making a phone call to Shen Xiao, he headed toward the elevator.
“Everything arranged?” Shen Xiao’s voice sounded tired, likely from barely sleeping these past few days while rushing through schedules.
“All taken care of. But Sister-in-law looked pretty skeptical.”
“Understandable.” Shen Xiao rubbed his temples. “Tell Yao Honglang to take good care of him and arrange a lighter, more relaxed schedule.”
“Got it, got it.”
