After Flirting with the God-Tier Beautiful Tycoon - Chapter 9
She… was asking me?
Shen Xiaojiang’s breathing hitched.
The other person looked so serious, she felt she had to say something.
But truly, she could eat anything.
Since childhood, Shen Xiaojiang had a very subjective plan for her time. In her view, instead of wasting time thinking about what to eat, it was better to spend that time memorizing a few more English words.
“I…”
Before Shen Xiaojiang could speak, Sun Jiabao interrupted, “She’s fine with anything.”
Chen Yi did not pay attention to Sun Jiabao and continued to stare straight into Shen Xiaojiang’s eyes.
The intense gaze forced Shen Xiaojiang to turn her face away.
The moment their eyes met, Chen Yi’s expression flickered, and her moderately thick, well-moisturized, and full lips naturally parted.
The next second, she immediately sat up straight and turned to look out the window.
Sun Jiabao didn’t get a response from Chen Yi and turned to look at the bewildered Shen Xiaojiang.
She frantically winked at Shen Xiaojiang, but the other party remained unmoved.
Sun Jiabao pouted, “What’s wrong, am I air?”
Chen Yi was stunned for a moment.
What was wrong with her?
Why was this unfamiliar feeling stirring in her heart?
Why would she make such a suggestive gesture toward a student?
She realized her lapse and quickly regained her composure, looking at Sun Jiabao: “Well, what do you want to eat?”
The carefree Sun Jiabao immediately cheered up, “I want to eat something expensive!”
Chen Yi smiled, “What expensive food is there to eat near your school?”
Chen Yi’s voice was lovely. Every simple word that came out of her mouth was like it had been dipped in honey, exuding a fresh, natural sweetness.
Shen Xiaojiang didn’t like prying into others’ personal lives, but Sun Jiabao had told her that Chen Yi was thirty years old (by East Asian reckoning) but was still single.
Unlike other thirty-year-old women, Chen Yi had a unique charm.
Although a smile was perpetually on her face, her whole demeanor exuded an innate coldness and detachment.
Her “stranger danger” eyes always seemed to shoot countless daggers, sending shivers down one’s spine.
Even the way she was talking to Sun Jiabao now felt unreal to Shen Xiaojiang.
Like there was a very thin layer of gauze, making her hard to see clearly.
“The food I want to eat is of course not near my school!” Sun Jiabao touched her straight fringe, smiling like a child.
“What about the afternoon nap? Save it for class later?” Chen Yi’s question contained a hint of reproach, though her smile remained.
Sun Jiabao pouted.
Chen Yi changed her tone, “However, it doesn’t matter if you’re occasionally late. University life doesn’t need to be so tense; enjoying the moment is more important.”
“Auntie!” Sun Jiabao was ecstatic.
“We’ll eat what you want, alright,” Chen Yi said.
So gentle, Shen Xiaojiang thought.
Twenty minutes later, the car drove into the bustling city center and stopped outside a Japanese restaurant.
The Japanese restaurant was called Ogawa. The owner was Japanese, and the focus was on rare and fresh ingredients, with an average cost of 1,280 yuan per person.
The restaurant had very few tables and, naturally, very few people.
As soon as they entered, Sun Jiabao immediately took out her camera and started snapping photos.
Shen Xiaojiang didn’t find anything surprising, her gaze was casual.
As soon as they sat down, the waiter thoughtfully brought the pre-meal drink plum juice.
Chen Yi took off her jacket and draped it over the back of her chair.
What met their eyes was a very distinctive black qipao with small cap sleeves, a completely different style from yesterday’s halter-neck dress.
Shen Xiaojiang didn’t know much about qipaos, but she simply felt that wearing such clothes would make doing anything inconvenient.
However, she now realized that women who love to wear qipaos probably didn’t need to do much of anything usually.
The three dimensional tailoring of the qipao perfectly showcased Chen Yi’s figure.
Her neck was slender and long, her shoulders narrow and straight, her skin was like congealed cream, her lips were rosy, and a small black mole at the corner of her eye added a few dashes of shimmering allure.
Her phoenix eyes drooped as she looked at the tea cup in her hand, exuding an air of purity and restraint, seductive yet refined.
The next second, she held the cup with both hands, brought it to her lips, and took a delicate sip.
Elegance.
This one word filled Shen Xiaojiang’s mind.
Chen Yi put down the cup and glanced lightly at the person opposite her.
Shen Xiaojiang quickly raised her hand. The tea, along with the crushed plum pieces, rushed into her mouth and slid down her throat.
Sweet and sour, it was truly delicious.
The dishes at “Ogawa” were all pre-selected by the head chef guests didn’t need to order themselves.
Shen Xiaojiang was allergic to seafood from an early age. Her parents had taken her to the dermatology hospital for an allergen test, which confirmed she was allergic to shellfish and other soft bodied marine creatures.
Now, everything on the table was exactly that.
A large platter of scallops, mussels sashimi, clams marinated in wine, and sea urchin sushi.
Shen Xiaojiang looked at the table of exquisite dishes, unsure whether saliva or tears would flow first.
“Wow, then I won’t be polite!” Sun Jiabao devoured the food as if she hadn’t eaten for a week.
“What, you don’t like it?” Chen Yi’s voice drifted over like a wisp of smoke.
She was speaking to Shen Xiaojiang.
Shen Xiaojiang’s heart skipped a beat, and she quickly shook her head, “No, it’s not that.”
With that, she forced herself to reach for her chopsticks.
Chen Yi, however, showed an understanding expression, smiled faintly, called the waiter over, and whispered something.
Immediately, the waiter came to Shen Xiaojiang with a tablet.
“Take a look at the menu; add anything you want to eat,” Chen Yi said. To avoid putting pressure on Shen Xiaojiang, she lowered her head and ate the food in her bowl.
It wasn’t Shen Xiaojiang’s first time eating Japanese food, but it was her first time eating something this high-end.
She didn’t recognize the names of many ingredients.
With every inhale and exhale, there was the smell of money.
She used the edge of her fingernail to firmly scratch the protective cover of the tablet, picked out two words she recognized, and softly said, “Cod?”
Nervous, guilty, and a little bit careful.
Clearly, this was not her usual demeanor, and Sun Jiabao, beside her, was momentarily stunned.
However, with delicious food in front of her, she buried her head again and continued to “storm ingest” her meal.
Chen Yi wiped the corner of her mouth with a wet wipe, pointed casually, and said, “Cod is good, do you like it?”
Shen Xiaojiang tightly gripped the tablet in her hand, like when she first learned to ride a bicycle and gripped the handlebars fiercely.
In high school, her mother occasionally bought cod to pan-fry for her when she got paid.
Since she hadn’t eaten it often, she couldn’t say whether she liked it or not.
Shen Xiaojiang remained silent for a few seconds, then nodded.
“What a coincidence, I like it too,” Chen Yi smiled.
Her words fully showed respect for the other person and wouldn’t make Shen Xiaojiang feel awkward or embarrassed.
She made you feel that, in this very minute, she was your best friend, the person who understood you the most.
This woman was genuinely good at reading people and winning hearts.
Chen Yi placed her hands folded beneath her chin, looking at the waiter and said, “Ask your head chef if they can pan-fry two portions for us, asparagus and oyster mushrooms cooked through, and the lemon served separately in a small dish.”
The waiter politely agreed.
When the pan fried cod arrived, Chen Yi first moved a plate in front of Shen Xiaojiang.
It must be said, the taste of the pan-fried cod was familiar and delicious.
“Shen Xiaojiang?” Chen Yi called out.
Shen Xiaojiang immediately swallowed the fish in her mouth and looked up at her.
Chen Yi’s eyes were sprinkled with tiny, fragmented light. She propped her cheek with one hand, loosely biting the tip of her chopsticks, and said sweetly, “What do you think?”
“Hmm, n-not… bad,” Shen Xiaojiang said, and immediately lowered her head to eat the fish.
Seduction!
This was definitely seduction!
This woman was one hundred percent trying to seduce her!
After finishing the meal and saying goodbye to Chen Yi, Shen Xiaojiang and Sun Jiabao rushed towards the academic building.
“I said, Ginger, do we have to walk so fast? I’m wearing high heels, sis!”
Shen Xiaojiang ignored her.
“Ginger, I can’t walk anymore,” Sun Jiabao sat down on a bench under the trees. “Let’s rest for a bit. Old Man Mao won’t be here this early.”
Shen Xiaojiang still ignored her and kept walking ahead.
“Ginger!” Sun Jiabao had no choice but to let out a long sigh and chase after her.
“Ginger, honey, what’s wrong?” she asked.
Shen Xiaojiang glared at her, “You didn’t know I’m allergic to seafood?”
Sun Jiabao subconsciously said, “I didn’t know.”
Shen Xiaojiang walked even faster.
“Oh, come on, I was wrong, I forgot, okay? You’re fine now, aren’t you?” Sun Jiabao blinked ingratiatingly.
“Ginger, I just knew you were the best. Mwah, I love you!” Sun Jiabao finished and immediately hooked her arm around Shen Xiaojiang’s arm. “Don’t be angry anymore. I’ll cover your three meals a day for the next week.”
“Shoot!” Shen Xiaojiang muttered and quickly turned and ran toward the school gate.
“What are you doing!” Sun Jiabao followed behind with a distressed look.
Chen Yi waited briefly at the school gate. He Zhong didn’t know what she was waiting for.
There were still many things to deal with at the bar. Chen Yi glanced once more in the direction Shen Xiaojiang had left, then lowered the car window.
It was as if to let in some fresh air, or perhaps to etch that person’s retreating figure into her eyes.
At that moment, she saw the two of them rushing back.
Her eyebrow lifted slightly, and the corner of her mouth unconsciously curled into a subtle smile.
Shen Xiaojiang had long legs and ran quickly, soon being less than three meters from the car.
Chen Yi pretended not to see her, took out her phone, randomly opened an app, and looked at it half-heartedly.
“Seventh Mistress, that Shen Xiaojiang is back,” He Zhong said.
“Mm,” Chen Yi replied somewhat coldly.
Two meters, one meter, half a meter…
“Sorry, Auntie, your jacket is still in my dorm,” Shen Xiaojiang said, panting heavily. Her chest was rising and falling, and her voice was hoarse from running, every word carrying a unique allure.
She had no idea she could run this fast.
After all, it had always been other people running toward her before.
Chen Yi’s expression didn’t change.
Shen Xiaojiang thought she had forgotten and reminded her, “It’s the one you wore on Jiabao’s birthday party. You might have left in a hurry and forgot to take it. I saw a soup stain on it, so I brought it back to wash.”
Shen Xiaojiang explained clearly enough. Chen Yi certainly remembered that piece of clothing.
She glanced at the dark blue umbrella by her foot, which was hidden by her Hermès bag, and smiled faintly, “It’s fine, I’m not in a hurry to wear it. Just give it to me next time. By the way, I forgot to bring your umbrella today too. Next time, it’ll be a hand-off the umbrella for the jacket.”
There’s a next time?
Shen Xiaojiang was slightly stunned.
She didn’t know why, but when interacting with Chen Yi, she felt like an idiot.
Since they had a professional course coming up, Shen and Sun left first.
After the car window closed, Chen Yi’s smile gradually disappeared.
Over the years, she had learned to disguise herself with a smile.
The car slowly drove away from the school gate.
“Mistress, do we need to meet with Shen Xiaojiang this frequently?” He Zhong asked weakly.
Chen Yi’s gaze rested on the dark blue umbrella beneath the Hermès bag. “Don’t think too much. I just want to find out as soon as possible if she’s an undercover agent. If she isn’t, there’ll be no need to meet again.”
He Zhong quietly watched Chen Yi in the rearview mirror. He had seen the umbrella when he parked the car.
He still didn’t understand why Chen Yi had to lie about just an umbrella.
