After Flirting with the God-Tier Beautiful Tycoon - Chapter 5
“Didn’t I tell you to put it in my dad’s car?” Sun Jiabao said while tearing open instant noodles. “You gave it to her yourself, oh.”
“What?” Shen Xiaojiang was astonished. “That’s your aunt!”
“The way we are, rounding it up, she’s your aunt too,” Sun Jiabao picked up the kettle, preparing to make her instant noodles.
Shen Xiaojiang was quick, snatching the noodle cup away from her.
“Ginger, this is mine, yours is on your desk!” Sun Jiabao would fight to the death if someone stole her food.
“I can’t go,” Shen Xiaojiang pouted.
“Huo,” Sun Jiabao widened her eyes. “Is there something you can’t do?”
“Move over, you just don’t know… anyway, I was really cowardly tonight.” Shen Xiaojiang frowned slightly, her eyes revealing a hint of embarrassment.
“You, cowardly?” Sun Jiabao pulled out a pink comb from nowhere, adopting a posture ready for gossip.
Sun Jiabao and Shen Xiaojiang had known each other since high school, and Sun Jiabao knew exactly what Shen Xiaojiang was like.
Standing up for strangers, writing half a blackboard of solutions to correct a teacher’s mistake, openly confronting anyone who spoke ill of her, liking what she liked, disliking what she disliked, with clear cut love and hate, and daring to act such a person was completely unrelated to the word “cowardly.”
Shen Xiaojiang recounted the entire incident from beginning to end.
“That’s truly quite perverted,” Sun Jiabao said matter of factly.
“Get lost…” Shen Xiaojiang kicked the trash can, looking like she was about to throw Sun Jiabao’s instant noodles into it.
Sun Jiabao immediately stood up. “Calm down, don’t mess around!”
Shen Xiaojiang remained unmoved.
Sun Jiabao quickly combed her bangs several times. “Isn’t that just a stalker with a fetish!”
Shen Xiaojiang immediately exploded: “I didn’t do it on purpose!”
“So you did it deliberately, huh!”
“Do you want your noodles or not?” Shen Xiaojiang really looked like she was going to throw them.
“Yes, yes, yes!” Sun Jiabao smiled. “It was a joke, don’t be mad!”
Shen Xiaojiang rolled her eyes to the heavens.
“Hey, hey, hey, seriously, based on my impression of my aunt, she’s not the type to be petty. What happened tonight, maybe she’ll forget it the moment she turns around.”
“Really?” A flash of light appeared in Shen Xiaojiang’s eyes.
“Really,” Sun Jiabao shrugged. “After all, you’re not the only one who does things like that to her.”
“But, she definitely hates me,” Shen Xiaojiang lowered her gaze.
Sun Jiabao wore a smug expression: “Elaborate.”
Shen Xiaojiang didn’t look up: “She lied to other girls who needed to use the restroom, saying the toilet was out of order.”
“So?”
Shen Xiaojiang shook her head: “So, she thinks I’m not a decent person.”
Sun Jiabao narrowed her eyes, crossing her arms. “Perhaps…”
Shen Xiaojiang grew tense.
“My aunt wants to spend time alone with you,” Sun Jiabao finished, her eyes fixed intently on the instant noodle cup in Shen Xiaojiang’s hand.
“Speechless, I even thought something useful could come out of your dog mouth,” Shen Xiaojiang returned the instant noodles to Sun Jiabao. “Who do I think I am? Why would she want to spend time alone with me?”
“I was just saying,” Sun Jiabao took the noodle cup back, a relieved expression on her face. “Next time, when my aunt comes to school, you can just give it to her.”
“Your aunt will come to school?” Shen Xiaojiang saw a glimmer of hope.
“No,” Sun Jiabao stuck out her tongue, smiling mischievously.
Shen Xiaojiang: “…”
The soup stains on the suit jacket had solidified. Shen Xiaojiang grabbed the clothes, took the kettle, and went to the bathroom.
8:30 PM, at Prosperous Garden.
With a “pat-da,” the living room light turned on.
Chen Yi stood at the entrance, a pair of white slippers neatly placed in front of the shoe cabinet.
Expensive floor tiles, Italian imported crystal chandeliers, floor-to-ceiling windows with a stunning view of the night scenery of South City…
Chen Yi looked at all of this coldly, as if this were just a finely decorated model home, not her actual residence.
“Seventh Mistress, what is it?” He Zhong’s voice came through the phone.
Chen Yi was momentarily stunned before realizing the call had connected.
“Where is Princess?” she asked.
“Oh, right, Aunt Liu came this afternoon to clean and had scheduled deworming, so she’s probably still at the pet shop,” He Zhong asked. “Should I go pick her up now?”
“Forget it,” Chen Yi smoothed her hair and lifted her tired eyelids. “I’ll go myself.”
“But, Seventh Mistress…”
Before He Zhong could finish, Chen Yi said, “You’ve been with me all day, go back and rest early. Also…”
“Also?” He Zhong asked.
Chen Yi paused, “Your mother’s surgery has been moved up. Take some time to spend with her.”
Chen Yi couldn’t stand words of gratitude and hung up the phone on her own accord.
Then, she closed the door.
Soon, a white Bentley drove out of the underground garage.
On the other side, Shen Xiaojiang was sitting on a small plastic stool in the bathroom, carefully scrubbing the dark red soup stains with soap, then rinsing it again and again.
Although she didn’t know much about fabric materials, she could tell that this piece of clothing must be very expensive.
Therefore, she washed it very slowly and meticulously.
She had never been this focused when washing her own clothes.
Twenty minutes later, Sun Jiabao had finished her instant noodles and started playing games with a voice call.
Shen Xiaojiang didn’t play games; she would choose to work during that time.
She took a hanger from the closet and hung up the jacket.
Looking at the dripping suit, she suddenly recalled the dark green halter neck dress, and the flower tattoo covering the entire back.
“Ginger, phone!” Sun Jiabao yelled.
Shen Xiaojiang was arranging the jacket’s cuffs, and yelled back, “Can you check who it is for me?”
“No time!” Sun Jiabao’s eyes were glued to the screen, her hand speed fast.
Shen Xiaojiang sighed, “What good are you!”
She walked over to her seat and picked up her phone.
It was a colleague from the part-time pet shop job.
“Hello, Sister Meng?”
“Xiaojiang, quick, save… save me!”
When the white Bentley arrived at the pet shop, the rain had stopped.
Chen Yi parked her car in the open-air parking lot of the adjacent mall, changed into flats, and put on a beige cardigan.
“Feifei Pet Shop,” Chen Yi whispered the name.
After two years of owning a cat, this was the first time she had set foot here, and it was quite a novelty.
As soon as she walked in, she heard a clear and youthful “Welcome.”
The voice was very clear and young, and sounded familiar, like she had heard it somewhere before.
Chen Yi pulled her cardigan around her, scanning the pet shop.
Her usual hostility softened as she occasionally observed the dogs and cats.
“Sister Meng, you should go back and rest, I’ll take care of things here.” In the break room, Shen Xiaojiang said while gently helping Sister Meng sit down.
Sister Meng rubbed her bulging belly and smiled, “It’s a good thing your school is nearby, otherwise, I wouldn’t have known what to do.”
“You’re just too hardworking. Your due date isn’t far off, is it?” Shen Xiaojiang poured Sister Meng a cup of warm water and said, “Why don’t you ask the manager for time off? I can take over your work.”
“How can I do that?”
“Why not? You weren’t feeling well today and still insisted on working the night shift. Thankfully you fell onto a chair. What if you had fallen on the tile floor…” Shen Xiaojiang stopped short of saying more.
Thinking about Sister Meng’s family situation, she understood that Sister Meng needed this job.
Because of the little one in her belly whom she hadn’t met yet, Sister Meng had learned to swallow her pain.
“Alright, alright, I’ll leave this place to you today. Consider it a favor I owe you.” Sister Meng finished her water and prepared to get up.
“No talk of owing favors, it’s nothing like that. Hurry up and go home,” Shen Xiaojiang said. “Tell me directly if you’re feeling unwell in the future, I’ll come right away.”
Sister Meng nodded. “A customer has arrived.”
“I know, I’ll handle it,” Shen Xiaojiang answered softly.
“Oh, right, there’s still a Ragdoll cat that needs deworming,” Sister Meng looked back three times as she left.
“I know, I’ll handle it,” Shen Xiaojiang urged her on the surface, her smile growing warmer.
After seeing Sister Meng off, she returned to the pet shop and finally noticed the customer inside.
Tall and slender, with a graceful figure, and a pale section of neck visible beneath her flaxen short hair.
“Hello, what would you like to buy? Would you like me to introduce anything to you?” Shen Xiaojiang switched to sales mode.
Chen Yi slowly turned around, her eyes clear, cold, and devoid of warmth.
The moment their eyes met, Shen Xiaojiang’s heart skipped a beat again.
She stood there dumbly, her body stiff as if her pressure points had been touched.
“It’s… it’s you,” Shen Xiaojiang’s tongue trembled.
“Ah, no…” she corrected herself, “Hello, Auntie.”
Auntie?
Hearing these two words from Shen Xiaojiang’s mouth felt quite different.
“Jiabao’s classmate?” Chen Yi’s voice was lovely, like a sunset kissed by the sea breeze, gentle and mellow.
“Yes, we met at Jiabao’s birthday dinner tonight,” Shen Xiaojiang replied.
“Mhm,” Chen Yi said coolly, with a hint of wariness. “Hello.”
Shen Xiaojiang blinked rapidly, then scratched her palm. “So, Auntie, what would you like to buy?”
Chen Yi shook her head, pointing to the glass window of the grooming room. “There, my cat, for deworming.”
“Er-Sha is your cat?” Shen Xiaojiang didn’t have time to swallow the words she had blurted out, quickly closing her mouth and giving an awkward smile.
“Er… Sha?” Chen Yi slightly knitted her brows.
“No, no, the person who brought the cat in was an older woman. She never told us the cat’s name. We currently have two Ragdolls that come here for long term deworming, and to tell them apart, I privately gave them names. I’m sorry about that,” Shen Xiaojiang explained sincerely.
Chen Yi didn’t give her a hard time, speaking slowly. “What’s the other one called?”
“Huh?” Shen Xiaojiang was confused.
“The other Ragdoll cat that comes here for deworming, what is its name?” Chen Yi was unusually patient.
“Uh, Da-Sha (Big Idiot),” Shen Xiaojiang answered obediently.
Upon hearing this, the corner of Chen Yi’s mouth curved into a faint arc.
